I do not own Twilight or Vampire Diaries. I am just borrowing a few characters to share a story that won't leave me.
This is not a happy story and some characters will not have a happy ending for everyone so you are warned. I usually love Edward and Bella pairings, this time Damon Salvatore gets a happy ending without Elena. I am sure there are many other stories you can read so if my story bothers you please be happy and look elsewhere.
While I admit I am not perfect, pointing out mistakes is welcome, however remember to be nice. We are all human and make mistakes, being mean will not be tolerated. If you are mean, change something in your life so you can find the happiness you need. Life is short and everyone deserves to be happy.

Twilight New Moon: Bella's birthday
Vampire Diaries: Damon learns Katherine is not in Tomb and leaves town.
I will try to keep the locations and characters clear so that you can follow the story I am changing the flow of the story so be prepared it will not follow the show/books.
Christmas in Forks
Alice and Bella had decorated not only the Swan house but Damon's as well. Alice saw what would make their guest happy and had done the Christmas shopping for everyone say, "I know what will make them happy, and you know I'm never wrong."
Bella just laughed and shook head, "Well that saves me from shopping Alice,"
Damon's face showed the terror at the mention of Christmas shopping, he had forgot about buying gifts and was worried what he should get for not only Bella but Charlie as well.
Alice turned to Damon and announced, "When I said I saw everyone I meant everyone. Don't worry Damon. I saw what you wanted to get Bella and she loves it."
Damon turned to Jasper and said, "She's kind of annoying when she does that. How are you able to put up with her doing that?"
Jasper laughed, "Damon once you have been with Bella long enough, you will just go with it too. Besides, I love and trust Alice. She would never hurt anyone."
Bella turned to Damon shaking her head no indicating he should not say anything else. Damon took the hint and changed the subject.
The decorating party ended with the couples meeting up with Angela and Eric for dinner and a movie at Angela's house. Damon offered to make dinner if Angela and Eric picked the movie. Bella mentioned Damon's brother coming for a visit and Angela and Eric seemed excited to meet Damon's family especially since he was a similar age to them.
Charlie's friendship with Billy Black and Harry Clearwater had cooled a bit since Damon's arrival for several reasons. Charlie had wanted to make sure Damon was as good as he seemed for Bella then turned into his enjoyment in having Damon around the house.
Not only could Damon cook, he did small repairs around the house that seemed to slip Charlie's ability for lack of time. When Alice and Jasper returned to town, Charlie argued with his friends about their return and how wrong they thought it was for Charlie to allow them in his house and around his daughter. When they said "the Cullen's would hurt Bella" Charlie put his foot down and refused to listen. "Don't come to my house then. I refuse to allow your nonsense to dictate who I welcome in my house."
Damon had relayed the conversation to Bella and they had asked Bella what she saw. Alice smiled and said, "Charlie will have something else to occupy his time and I see big changes for him," but would not elaborate on her statement much to Bella's consternation. Bella heard about Charlie's phone calls with Aunt Jenna and figured out something must be brewing in that direction.
When Renee argued with Bella about her decision not to come to Florida for Christmas, Damon took the phone from her and began explaining who he was and why Bella could not travel with his family expected to arrive in Forks. Renee calmed a bit and apologized for losing her temper. Alice told them later that Renee was pregnant and did not know yet and her mood swings were going to dim a bit after she got further into her pregnancy.
Damon and Jasper drove to Port Angeles to pick up Stefan, Elena, Jeremy, and Aunt Jenna. With Charlie at work, Bella was making dinner and Alice was sitting the kitchen looking into the future.
Alice was trying to keep her visions in some sort of sequence unlike when Edward was around. "It's peaceful with Edward being gone. Sorry Bella but his changing decisions had me always trying to figure out the future, now I can see without all the distractions."
Bella smiled and replied, "I understand and please stop worrying about mentioning Edward around me, things are really good with Damon. It doesn't bother me at all to hear of Edward."
Alice smiled, "I know, I guess it's just habit. I see Charlie and Jenna hitting it off really well. I see a move not only for you but for Charlie as well. Damon's friend Liz is a cop in Mystic Falls. When Charlie finds out you are going to move, he decides to come too because of Jenna. I hope you don't mind having a step-mother so young."
Bella laughed, "If Charlie falls in love, I will be happy for him. Do you thing living in Mystic Falls will be good for us? I am a bit concerned for Charlie's safety if there are so many animal attacks."
Alice paused and stared off in her special way of "seeing" the future for a few minutes before she replied, "Charlie will be told about vampires but he won't learn about you, Damon, or us for a very long time. He will know they exist but not meet any."
Bella sighed, "Well that's good but I don't see how long we can stay before he begins to notice were not aging."
Alice giggled, "Renee is not the only parent to provide you with a sibling. Charlie will be busy and you will be traveling when it becomes a problem."
Bella stopped to stare at Alice, "Charlie will have another child?"
Alice nodded, "Jenna is only about 27, and I think it's actually an accident as you humans call it."
Bella replied, "Huh, I would have never thought Charlie would have that kind of accident."
Alice announced, "They should be here in about 10 minutes. Elena knows something is different about Jasper but is too afraid to ask. Stefan is too amazed at Damon's happiness to notice Elena's discomfort. Jeremy and Jenna are asking too many questions about the area to notice Elena's apprehension."
Bella began cleaning up the kitchen after she put dinner in the oven, "Well let's hope we can make her feel comfortable enough so we can talk things in the open and not have tension this Christmas. Charlie is upset enough with Billy and Harry missing Christmas Eve dinner. I don't want anything to mess this up.
Alice heard the car pull up "I knew having that third row would work out."
"I'm just glad Charlie didn't offer to pick them up in the squad car. I always hated riding around in that thing. People stare."
"Charlie will make a good impression on Jenna while in uniform. She has always wanted a strong partner with strong ethics," added Alice before she opened the door to the visitors.
Bella greeted them at the door, "Thanks for coming, come on in before the rain starts," Bella shuttered and was quickly pulled into Damon's arm.
Elena, Jenna, and Jeremy followed Bella and Damon into the living room followed by Stefan and Jasper still talking about the weather, the rain fall amounts for the year. Damon was surprised to see Stefan so curious about this part of the country.
"Bella let me introduce you to my kid brother and his girlfriend's family." Damon kissed Bella in front of everyone and pulled her in closer as he introduced everyone. Bella saw the surprise on the faces of everyone at Damon's actions.
"Thank you for coming, I hope this visit allows us to get to know each other better. I have been looking forward to meeting each of you. Damon has shared some of his memories and stories," announced Bella as she greeted each of them with a hug. "Charlie, my father will be home soon. Let me get you something to drink while we wait on dinner."
The conversation in the room continued without interruption until Charlie entered the room and another round of introductions was given. Elena was surprised at the familiarity between her Aunt Jenna and Bella's father Charlie. Apparently they had spoken more than once if they could carry on their own conversation ignoring the rest of the group.
Bella saw Elena's reaction and wondered if she could get passed her dislike of Damon and accept her family in her life. Charlie would be with Jenna even if Elena did not understand it at this moment. Bella would be with Damon and hopefully Stefan would be a part of their lives.
Bella noticed Elena looking around the house and saw her distaste for the furnishings, "Sorry Charlie hasn't done updating to the house since the divorce when I was a baby, other than the new flat screen." Bella pointed to the wall.
"Well you won't be surprised by our house then, I hope Damon told you about it. It's had the same decorations for decades. We haven't thought much about changing it either," Stefan quickly added to make Bella feel more comfortable.
Alice joined the group, "Damon's house here in Forks is more current. Jasper and I have been working on for months. You should like it Elena."
Bella looked at Damon, Stefan then Alice to see their disappointment with Elena's reaction to the swan house.
Damon added, "Don't worry Stefan Bella will be wonderful at updating our home when she moves in this summer."
Elena turned to stare at Damon, "Bella is moving in?"
Damon nodded, "Of course she is moving in, and I think Charlie might be coming too but his plans are not definite yet."
Stefan took Elena's hand, "Bella is welcome anytime. Besides I might be travelling this summer with Elena so you will have the whole house to yourselves."
Jeremy then asked, "Traveling where? I did not hear anything about this."
Elena seemed to blush and tried to shake her head no indicating they should not talk about it at that moment but Jenna and Charlie had rejoined the conversation.
Jenna inquired, "Elena? Do you have plans I should know about?"
Elena sighed and replied, "Stefan mentioned taking me to Italy this summer after school ended. I wasn't sure if the plans were definite so I didn't mention to you yet."
Charlie asked, "Will you be travelling with any adults? I am not sure two teens should be exploring in a foreign country. No offense guys, but I would not let Bells go off on her own."
Bella said, "Dad, not our business," and smiled shaking her head indicating to stop talking.
Jenna then added, "No, I agree with Charlie. You are not eighteen and won't be until the following summer. We need to talk about this some more, but Bella is correct. Now is not the time."
Elena then turned to Bella and blurted out, "Well how old are you anyway?"
Bella replied calmly as she squeezed Damon's hand, "I'm eighteen and will graduate this June."
"So you are not that much older than me," Elena replied snottily.
Damon then stepped in, "Not that much older in age, but miles ahead of you. Bella would never do something to upset her family. She respects Charlie and knows he is only looking out for you safety and happiness."
Charlie smiled, "Well said Damon." Turning towards Jenna added, "Sorry if I said something to upset your niece, it's habit I guess being a cop and all."
Jenna smiled, "Don't worry Charlie, apparently…." Jenna stressed apparently, "All the plans have not been worked out. We still have time to decide."
Bella stood and pulled Damon with her into the kitchen, "I'm not sure what's up with Elena. Is she mad at me for some reason?"
Damon kissed her, "Don't know, we have to ask Alice and Jasper. She should be happy she has Stefan's love and all that."
"Well let's get through dinner and you can take them to your place. Maybe it's jetlag or something,"
"Are you sure they stay at my place? That means I have to stay there with them."
"Alice said they should stay there. I'll ask her later what's up. I can call you and maybe….you can sneak in my room later."
"Don't tempt me woman,"
Alice entered the room, "Jazz and I are going to get our dinner, and we will be back after Damon takes his guests to his house. It's all set up by the way, don't worry Damon Bella is going to be fine with us staying here."
"Great, have fun catching dinner," replied Damon as he watched Alice bounce out of the room.
The swan house was small and Charlie did not change much; however with the additional guests for dinner, Damon was able to convince Charlie to get a larger table with more seating from a second hand shop in town. Bella had told Damon Charlie would not accept new furniture that cost too much, but a second hand table was acceptable especially with Jenna coming to town.
Dinner that night was lively with everyone enjoying themselves. The atmosphere was joyous and cheerful with everyone sharing stories from their childhood. It looked like Christmas this year was going to be good.
The following week Charlie and Jenna found time to "date" even if the kids were included, they went to the local restaurant, the bowling alley and the movie theatre. The group seemed to enjoy themselves even with all the rain. Jeremy commented on it almost as much as Bella, which instantly bonded the two in their dislike for all the rain. Alice made sure they always had something to do or a game to play to keep everyone occupied.
Damon noticed and mentioned to Bella, "We are always out when Billy Black calls or comes over I don't think that's a coincidence."
"I noticed it too, but I can't get Alice to tell me why."
"I'll ask Jasper later, Stefan wanted to try hunting with him later. I might tag along…could be interesting."
"Damon, Jasper might be able to really help Stefan. I mean rabbits do not sound appetizing at all." Bella scrunched up her nose.
"That is something we both can agree on."
Bella sat in the living room waiting for her dad to return from dropping off Jenna, Elena, and Jeremy at Damon's house. When her dad finally sat down she asked, "So…how is it going with Jenna?"
Charlie blushed turning away before Bella said, "Dad you don't need to worry about me. I like Jenna and I can see you both have formed a connection. What is holding you back?"
Charlie turned to Bella, turned his head to the side to see the truth in Bella's face before he replied, "She's a bit younger than me Bells….and well I haven't dated since before you were born. This is all new to me and honestly, Jenna lives as far away from me as you can get."
That was a lot of information Bella thought before taking her dad's hand and saying, "I don't think the age thing should be a worry, She likes you…a lot as far as I can tell. The distance thing…well you know Damon and I are pretty serious right?" Bella watched her father for his reaction and saw him nod. "Well if Damon and I go back to Mystic Falls, you can come too. I'm not sure about the whole job thing, but they do have a police force there and Damon is really good friends with the chief there. He could get you an interview if you wanted."
Charlie waited a few moments before asking, "Would you want me to go with you? I know you're considered an adult now being eighteen and all, but wouldn't have me follow you kind of…." Charlie ran his hand through his hair, "I would not want to be in your way."
"Dad, Damon and I want you to come with us. We already spoke about it and no you would not be in the way. Besides, if we decide to get married at some point, I am going to need you there to walk me down the aisle."
Charlie looked surprised, "Married?"
Bella nodded, "Yeah Dad, it is definitely on the table. I would like to go to college before but yeah, married."
Charlie nodded, "I like Damon he is good for you. If I am being honest with myself, I would really like to see Jenna more. I don't think Jeremy will mind but that Elena. She is a bit spoilt."
"I have to agree, but Dad keep in mind she just lost her mom and dad last year. Things are rough for her."
"Bells, you were never spoilt and you didn't have both parents around. Jeremy seems to be an okay kid, Elena needs to grow up a bit and Stefan needs to stop giving her everything."
"Dad, do you remember Edward. Stefan is not exactly like him, but I see the similarities and he's in love with her. I can't blame the guy for giving in to her."
"I think Damon needs to have a heart to heart with his brother. It would be good for Stefan to have his older more mature brother around more to guide him."
"That would mean Damon has to leave Forks. Do you want me to have to decide to stay or go with Damon so soon?"
"Well when you put it that way…no I don't. However if you are going to move there anyway," Charlie turned his head to look around the room, "it might make it easier for me to follow and not lose my chance with Jenna to that high school teacher hanging around."
"Huh, you have competition do you? Let me talk to Damon and see what we can do. I have to make sure Alice and Jasper would be okay with the move sooner," Bella brought her finger to her lips, "How much time do you need to give your notice? School won't be a problem since I would start at the beginning of a new semester."
Charlie looked stunned, "You mean move now, like in days?"
"Dad other than your job… what do you have that keeps you here? Billy Black is avoiding you and if what you say about Damon being there for Stefan, I would like to go. So basically…you don't have anything keeping you here do you?"
Charlie's response was slow in coming. "Bells…th…house…no that's it. The house can be sold, my job keeps me busy…but you are the only really important thing in my life. If you want to go all the way across the country…I can go too."
Bella smiled, "I don't want to force you."
"No, no twisting of my arm Bells," Charlie chuckled. What do you think Jenna will say about us moving to Mystic Falls?"
"Honestly dad, I think she will be excited to have you near. Who knows you two might get married and have kids." Bella saw her father turn ghost white before she punched his arm, "Just kidding dad. But would that be so awful?"
Bella stood leaving her dad pondering the various possibilities with this move to Mystic Falls.
Bella readied herself for bed before Alice appeared in her room. "I think you have something to tell me Alice."
Alice nodded. "Breaking ties with Billy Black was the only obstacle for your father. This past week finally make Charlie realize you and Damon were more important and meeting Jenna of course. Oh, and Jeremy and Elena helped. Charlie watched Jenna struggle with Elena too much and realized part of the problem was Stefan. Charlie's trust in Damon's character made him realize his brother needed guidance. It's all tied together. Now all I need to do is have Damon call Chief Forbes to get Charlie an interview. Jazz and I will stay here until the house is sold."
Alice walked around the room nodding her head, "Jazz can made the sale and we can quickly invest the money giving Charlie a nice nest egg. He will need it sooner than he realizes."
Bella watched as Alice talked through the details of their relocation. "Alice, what about you and Jasper, Virginia is sunny. I don't see how that can work out."
"Have that figured out; our friend Charlotte is really good at making friends with witches. We asked her a few years ago to start asking for spelled jewelry like Damon and Stefan's rings. Jazz and I will get one that will make it possible for us to be in the sun. We will look more human. Charlotte and her mate Peter meet us along the way to Virginia."
"Really? You will be able to go into the sun and not sparkle?"
"That was the hard part in all this planning, we had to find the right witch and unfortunately she was in New Orleans. I won't go into detail but Charlotte worked her own kind of magic and we will have them along with a ring for you and a special ring for Charlie. Don't worry I got it covered."
Bella was scared, "a ring for Charlie? I thought he was going to be with Jenna and have a family?"
"Bella, the ring is just insurance you are moving to a town known for the supernatural and Charlie will be a cop."
"Oh, I never thought of that. I'm so glad you're my best friend Alice."
"Yes you are. Now let me think about how to get you packed and moved within the next week. Jasper has been handling most of the paperwork. I just need to make sure Billy Black and Jacob don't suddenly stop by before Charlie leaves."
Alice walked around the room in thought and turned to me, "you might as well go to sleep I think will be at this all night anyway. There are a few things I need to work on."
Bella smiled and pulled the blanket up as she turned on her side to watch Alice pace the room while she tried to fall asleep. Sitting up quickly, "Damon was going to ask about something."
"Jasper is taking care of that on their hunting trip. Stefan will like our kind of hunting and his attitude will change again. The smaller mammals were not really filling his needs. Damon will try it but he won't like it so, don't plan on hunting with him all that much."
Bella giggled, "Damon doesn't seem like the vegetarian type."
Alice laughed, "No, but he won't mind you coming with us a few times."
"That's good; I'm not sure how to deal with the choice."
"Don't worry, Damon will get you donated blood. Plus there's always Carlisle, he will be able to get donated blood for you legally."
"Carlisle? Really he won't be made at me for not choosing Edward?"
"No, Edward left you. That's on him. Once Carlisle figures out how destructive Edward has been, things will change. Oh and Rosalie will stop hating you after some time."
Bella yawned, "That's good, and I really liked Emmett."
Alice continued her pacing as Bella dreamt of Damon.
