Hello Everyone, so I have been absent for a long time now and it will be like that oftenly for me since I have my secret short film I am making that will release in 2022 and some other projects for 2021. Also you may be wondering why when you clicked on this story, you couldn't read this chapter, that's because I deleted it because I figured out how to extend this chapter and make it better. Now begin
Figuring It Out
Chapter 9:
Big News
It was a peaceful morning in Rio De Janeiro as usual, Blu and Jewel were finally sleeping in the same hollow on a regular basis, but sometimes would sleep in their own hollow. Blu had Jewel in his wings as she laid her head on the side of him while he laid his head on top of Jewels. Blu had finally gotten used to the timezone and was waking up just a tiny bit after Jewel did. But their sleep was interrupted when the microphone was accidentally turned on by Tulio who had knocked over his coffee mug, which was luckily empty. Jewel woke up with a groan when she heard him while Blu just woke up a little confused. "Ugh, seriously!" Jewel said, slightly raising her voice while getting out of Blu's embrace.
Blu sleepily got up and followed Jewel to the hollow entrance, almost stumbling over his own talons from not being able to walk properly due to how early it was. "What time is it" Blu yawned, stretching his wings as he approached Jewel.
"Hell if I know but I don't like that it woke us up." Jewel said looking towards the security camera. Clearly upset that her peaceful sleep was interrupted.
"Welp, no point in going back to sleep, so might as well get a drink." Blu suggested before he flew to the water stream. Jewel decided he was right and followed him. But unknowing to them, they would be visited by a familiar face today with some exciting news.
With Tulio
Tulio didn't mean to tip over the coffee mug, he just got slightly frightened by the loud knocking on the door. "Come in" Tulio answered and the door opened to reveal that it was Linda.
"Oh it's just you." Tulio said as he picked the coffee mug up off the floor since after it hit the microphone button it rolled onto the floor.
"Yep, just me, and I do have news." Linda said as she took a seat in the office chair next to him. "I am heading back to Minnesota." Linda said as she sat down.
Tulio was a bit sad to hear this but then she continued talking. "But it's only for a week because I am moving back to Rio to live here." Linda excitedly said, Tulio looked at her in disbelief
"Wait really?" Tulio said as he leaned forward and put his elbows on his legs to lean on them. Linda nodded "that's amazing!" Tulio said as he got up from the chair
"But I was wondering if I could take Blu with me, like a holiday in a way." Linda asked with the type of smile that is difficult to say no to, especially for Tulio. But Tulio hesitated to answer, he knew that Blu and Linda had been living in minnesota for their whole lives and knew Blu would love to go back for a bit, but also knew the risks this type of trip could cost. He took that risk when bringing Blu to Rio but that was for the survival of the species, but Linda was talking about returning with him for a week.
Tulio also knew that Blu and Jewel have grown pretty attached to each other and it would be difficult to separate them, especially for an entire week. "Linda, as great as that sounds, I can't just separate Blu from Jewel, they have grown attached" Linda heard this and knew he was right, so she thought of an idea.
"What if we took Jewel with us." Linda suggested, looking at the screen projecting the camera facing Blu and Jewel, who were getting a drink from the stream. Tulio was surprised he didn't think of that, it was such a simple idea. But there were still a lot of risks that he knew about, he did think it was a good idea though, but if he was going to go through with the idea, he had rules.
Tulio sighed in defeat and looked down at his feet, then towards the monitor, "Fine. But, there is one rule." Tulio turned to face Linda with a stern look, Linda raised an eyebrow. She asked what that rule was and Tulio leaned closer. "I have to come with you, to make sure they are safe and nothing goes wrong."
"Okay" Linda answered with a smile
Tulio flinched back onto the chair when he heard her say that with such ease, he expected her to argue back, or at least some type of retaliation. But there was none of that, and she said it with no hesitation. It was sort of baffling for him, usually when he asks to join a woman on something he is met with a resounding 'no' but that didn't happen this time. But then he looks at the monitor again, realising there is one more thing to figure out.
"Now we need to figure out if they want to go"
Back with Blu and Jewel
Jewel was still annoyed that she was woken up in such a way but Blu wasn't too bothered by it. Blu found the water especially refreshing this morning, probably because of how he was suddenly woken up. But soon they both heard the door to the aviary open, both of their heads turned to the door and they saw Linda walk in.
Blu was happy to see his friend again since they haven't seen each other in a while. He flew to Linda and perched on her shoulder. "Hi Blu!" Linda greeted as she saw him fly to her shoulder.
"How have you been?" Linda asked as she stroked his head feathers. Blu squawked happily in reply, Linda could tell he was from how he couldn't stop moving around on her shoulders. She asked where Jewel was and Blu flew to her location to find her. Luckily she was perched on a branch above the stream, watching Linda from a distance.
Blu flew to Jewel and perched next to her, just close enough so their wings were barely touching, as Linda got closer, Jewel moved ever so slightly closer to Blu. Blu felt this and was amazed that Jewel went to him for protection. He would have thought it would be him moving to her for protection, with her being the braver one out of the two. Blu reassured her that there was nothing to worry about just by putting a wing on her, causing her to look at him, he had the type of look that said 'Everything will be fine' so she trusted him.
Linda reached her arm up to Blu and Jewel, keeping her hand well away from them just so it doesn't feel threatening, she could basically hear Tulio begging her to turn back before it was too late when she did that. Blu got onto her arm, but Jewel hesitated. Blu looked at her and told her "It's ok." with that same reassuring look that Jewel couldn't ignore. Jewel slowly reached a talon out and gripped onto Lindas arm, then the next. Linda couldn't believe that Jewel was willingly on her arm.
Neither could Tulio, judging by the loud "HOW?!" she faintly heard through the exit door. But how did she forget the reason she was there.
"Oh, right, Blu I need to ask you something." Linda said looking at Blu who was on her shoulder, while Jewel was pressed up against him for comfort. "I am going back to Minnesota for a week to pack things up and move here to Rio, permanently." Linda explained and Blu's face lit up with excitement.
"I was wondering if you wanted to come with me for that said week. You could bring Jewel if you would like." Linda asked, Blu then looked to Jewel.
"Jewel, are you willing to go with me if I go?" Blu asked as he looked at her.
"What? No!" Jewel snapped, how could he even suggest that to her. The idea of being locked up in a small cage for an entire week was exactly her idea of hell.
Blu was stunned by the sudden snap, but understood it because of her past. But then thought of a deal that might change her mind.
"Jewel, how about we make a deal?" Blu asked as Jewel was turned around, facing away from him. Jewel shook her head without even asking about what type of deal it would be.
"But you don't even know what the deal was." Blu argued back.
"Fine, what is the deal." Jewel asked, slightly annoyed as she turned around to face him again.
"If you do this, I'll give living in the wild a try?" Blu asked with a hopefully tone and smile. When Jewel heard this, her annoyance turned into shock.
"Y- you would really do that? For me?" She asked with a shocked tone, leaning her head back and raising an eye.
"I mean… yeah…" Blu answered. Jewel couldn't believe it. Blu was willing to sacrifice the place he is comfortable at for her. But was she willing to spend an entire week in a most likely small cage with Blu, just to possibly live in the jungle with him. She thought she should go talk to someone about this and get some advice.
At first she thought going to Eva would be a good idea but, what would she know about having her boyfriend ask her to go live with humans for an entire week. Maybe Amelda would know, her boyfriend was the closest thing to a pet out of all of her friends. So Jewel told Blu she was going to go on a fly to think about it and then left to go find Amelda.\
She flew to their hollow and landed on the edge of the hollow, "Hey, Amelda!" Jewel called out as she hopped down from the edge of the hollow, Amelda popped her head out from the top of the hollow where she and Jack had been working on finishing.
"Oh, Hey Jewel!" Amelda called back as she flew down to her, landing in front of her. "How have you been?" she asked when she landed.
"Pretty good actually, but I do need to ask you something" Jewel stated while panning around the room, as if she was guilty of something. Amelda noticed this and assumed that she did something bad or it was embarrassing to admit.
Amelda straightened her posture a bit and opened her beak to speak "Oh, uh, sure. Why has something happened?" Amelda asked, slightly cocking her head to the side.
"No, no, nothing's happened… yet… it's actually about a situation about my relationship with Blu." She said, slightly looking down as if she was ashamed to admit that she was having trouble in her relationship.
"Well then, how about we step outside for this okay?" Amelda passed her and hopped onto the hollow entrance, indicating for Jewel to follow her. Jewel followed her onto a branch just next to the hollow around the side of the tree.
"Okay, so what is the problem." Amelda asked as she perched on the branch as Jewel did the same. Jewel looked at her then towards the direction of where the aviary is.
"Well, since your boyfriend has… experience with humans similar to how Blu does, I thought you would be the best to talk to about this." Jewel explained, Amelda told her to continue so that is what Jewel did. "Well, have you ever had a time when Jack's experience with humans has caused you to have to spend time with Humans?" Amelda looked up to think for a second.
"Well… there was this one time when he went to visit his parents owners for a week and I tagged along." Amelda explained, this gave Jewel some reassurance that she went to ask the right bird about this situation.
"Actually, that is exactly what is happening right now, Blu wants to go with his owner to some Tiny… Mini, whatever, it has Sota at the end" Jewel explained as Amelda sat quietly as she continued on. "And he wants me to come with him, I refused but then he offered a deal" Jewel told Amelda.
"What kind of deal?" Amelda asked, coking her head again.
"The deal was that if I went with him, he will give living in the wild a try, and it's been my dream to live in the wild with him since we got together." Jewel continued explaining "But I feel like I just can't spend an entire week in a small cage" Jewel finished, then took a second to catch her breath.
"Think of it like this, it's just one week, you will have Blu with you at all times, and after, you get to live in the wild for the rest of your life, which is much longer then a week" Amelda explained, Jewel had no idea why she didn't think of it like that, it was just a week, how bad could it be.
"That, actually helps, thanks Amelda, I guess I'm going to… I wont even attempt at saying it. Be back in a week then." Jewel said, as she got up and took off when she nearly finished talking. "Bye"
"See ya! Glad I could help!" Amelda yelled as she flew away.
Jewel reached back to the aviary and told Blu that she was going to go with him, Blu was really excited about this and hugged her, Jewel chuckled when he did this and Blu let go of her.
Blu asked Linda when they were leaving and she said that they were leaving tomorrow. Linda left the room and approached Tulio. "So, what are you bringing?" She asked.
"I don't know, well, I do for the essentials, everything else, not really. I guess I'm still"
Figuring It Out
Welp, that chapter took way too long for what it is, but I did have other things to do so it doesn't matter. The part where Linda asked what Tulio was bringing was just an excuse to end the chapter with "Figuring It Out"
The reason I am making them go to Minnesota is just to set up for the next 5 - 7 chapters so I don't really have to think too much about the plot of the chapter.
This chapter took a long time to make and it will be like that from now on, because of my filmmaking career. Anyway, see you in the next chapter. Bye.
