Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this story.

This chapter is just as long as the previous one and talks about many things, in general it gives information about what happened to Bonnie. I will describe little by little through each character what happened to her. (I will base myself on a real act of aggression that happened here in my country.)I hope I do not disturb your sensitivity and I hope that everything fits well so as not to confuse you.

This is the continuation of chapter nine and these events take place one week after the wedding. With certain accounts of the past.

The episode begins a few hours before Emily's meeting with Bonnie.

Ok... hope you like this, and sorry for the mistakes!

TOO LATE...

NINE.

Part II

A few hours before Emily and Bonnie's meeting.

Mikael was walking with his eldest son around the vineyards, they had made a two-hour trip to inspect the new grape vine. The plague in some plants threatened the quality of the grapes, only a few analyzes were missing and in a few months everything would be ready for the next harvest.

Getting into the world of wine was too ambitious for Mikael, considering that he had no idea how to start a business like this. Esther did not agree, she saw it as a whim of his old age, but he had faith that this new venture would benefit them in the future.

Now, the conversation between his son and him became much more intriguing than the winemaking control process.

Mikael walked in silence listening to everything his eldest son had to say, debating what was the best decision to make from now on.

For several minutes they had talked about a specific topic, the real reason for his son Niklaus' marriage arrangement with Sheila's granddaughter, Bonnie. Such information was handled only by them, or so Mikael thought, but his cunning wife was already one step ahead of him.

Finn looked at the grapes without leaving the conversation.

"I have truthful information that Malachai Parker is in solitary confinement in a psychiatric institution for criminals with mental illness, here in the city. I can get someone to make contact from inside, security can be circumvented if the work is done properly as professionals."

Mikael was surprised to hear that information and Finn answered before his father asked.

"Two years ago he was transferred."

Mikael nodded. "Now I understand..."

"I can give the order to start the job and get him murdered this week."

Finn had already done errands to rush things, but the decision rested with his father and he was waiting for Mikael to give the green light for the operation. Finn was eager to complete this work, for years he wanted to end the life of that man, but to Finn's surprise, Mikael had other plans.

"No. We have to wait."

His father disagreed and Finn didn't understand.

"Why? I thought that was stipulated in the agreement between Sheila and you, Father." he was disappointed.

Mikael stopped and inspected one of the plants, he spoke calmly as if they were talking about a simple business and not about executing a person.

"We can't start a war between sides, not like that. Joshua already knows that Bonnie is a Mikaelson, if his son or any of his family dares to lay a single finger on her, then we will attack, but not before."

Finn nodded a little concerned.

"Is that why you invited him to the marriage?"

Mikael turned and looked at his son.

"Exactly, Although Joshua did not attend, I am sure he received the invitation. From now on, Bonnie is part of this family and that makes her untouchable. He knows very well that this rule cannot be broken. If something will happen to her because of his family'fault. Then he will have no choice but to accept the consequences. So I'm more than sure he will avoid a confrontation with us. Joshua is a smart guy."

A pause.

"But... something tells me that his son will not stay calm. For that reason I need you to assign Damon as her bodyguard, Bonnie will not suspect anything knowing that each member of the family is surrounded by security. Anyway Damon is the most indicated For this task."

"What happens if he doesn't accept?" Finn asked.

Mikael hadn't cared about that because he already knew Damon's answer.

"Trust me, that won't happen... Damon will be happy to work with us on this."

"Are you sure it's good that Niklaus isn't informed?"

Working behind his brother's back didn't sit well with Finn, having Klaus's support would be much better in this situation.

Mikael also thought the same, but he believed that the less people handled the information, the better it would be to act discreetly.

"I had a conversation with Niklaus this morning. He is only conscious of treating his wife's safety like any other family member. As for the rest. I am forced to continue with Sheila's requests. She does not want the situation of her granddaughter is revealed, and so it will be."

Finn nodded again.

A doubt appeared with curiosity and it was a reciprocal thought of his father.

"What do you think will Sheila's opinion of all this? She thinks that we will end the life of that man immediately."

Yes, although at first Mikael was surprised that a woman like Sheila asked for someone's head on a silver platter, he understood why she had taken that step. After learning everything the Bennett family had been through, it was no wonder. Sheila had not had justice for her granddaughter, nor support from the authorities at the time when they needed it most. For that reason, she was desperate and for that only a desperate measure could bring her peace and tranquility, and what better way than to ally with the Mikaelson clan to obtain justice by her own hands.

What Sheila didn't know was that Joshua was the leader of the Gemini clan. A very influential clan.

Joshua always believed himself untouchable, with a reputation as an impeccable tycoon, protected by relationships in politics. Shamelessly living in the light and working from the shadows.

But Joshua like everyone had a weakness, his eldest son, the aberrated and sick actions of his son were always a point of attention for the newspapers. However, Joshua knew how to cover up every mess.

Now, Killing Malachai Parker was what Sheila asked for, and Mikael accepted in exchange for a share of her company's management.

Sheila only agreed as long as there was a marriage involved, and Mikael in turn agreed because he was confident that the marriage would last and prosper for the good of the family.

Mikael was a sensible man, he did not want to keep the Bennett family assets, on the contrary he wanted to unite both families to grow as a company and start in a different direction than the one they were used to. To give his family the opportunity that he did not have, to live in exiles from this cruel and savage world from which he now wanted to flee.

That was what he set out to do after the attempt on his granddaughter Hope, which left her in the condition she was in.

For the Mikaelsons, family always came first.

And little by little they would leave this kind of life behind and they would begin their own legacy, a dignified and secure legacy where he could see his granddaughter and his future grandchildren grow up.

That had been the main reason for accepting something as risky as that.

One last sacrifice for both families in order to obtain safety and well-being for all.

Although Mikael did not give a date and Sheila did not demand it, it was not every day that someone's murder was planned in cold blood, even when that person deserved it.

But being a son of one of the leaders of the clans, it was not easy at all, so the payment that Mikael had demanded was high and expensive.

They must be very cautious and patient. It was dangerous to expect an attack, but that's the way these things were, so they had to be prepared.

That was their advantage, they knew who they would face.

Mikael paused for a moment.

"Have to act with discretion... and Sheila will understand. If that man dares to think about putting his dirty hands on her, we will not hesitate to kill him. You can be sure of that!"

Finn nodded agreeing with his father.

"There's something else… Damon found the people who caused the attacks on the wineries. None of them want to cooperate, they are supporting each other in the omertà, but I hope that in the next few hours we can get some information. Right now they are in the warehouse. Kol is with them."

Mikael kept walking beside his son. "Is there any clue who could have given the order?"

"Damon hasn't figured it out yet... but like I said, I hope I have the answers tonight."

Finn smiled at the meaning of those words.

Mikael watched the expression on his son's face and he wasn't going to inquire into the details, he knew what Finn was talking about.

Deep down, Mikael agreed that these people had earned a tragic fate.

They deserved that and more.

"Don't let your brother make a mess of all this. We need them to collaborate and cooperate." Mikael knew his son well. He too had been young and impulsive. "It would be a waste of time if those people took any information to the grave. I trust that you are smarter than Kol and that you will handle everything responsibly."

"You don't have to worry about that, father."

Mikael sighed confidently.

"We cannot keep our guard down. From now on, security is doubled. You must notify everyone. We have to be prepared for when those from the Trinity arrive. Each one must know what their positions are."

The alarms went off and everyone had to be ready.

Finn nodded, looked at his watch, he needed to be back for his next meeting.

"I will have everything ready, you should not worry about anything. Now I am retiring, I have an important meeting that I must attend."

With that Finn said goodbye to his father and left.

He hoped not to be delayed any more than he was.

For more than half an hour Emily waited and waited.

With the phone in hand after hanging up the call. An hour ago she was supposed to meet Bonnie, but she postponed her date with her and told her that she would be late.

Emily could leave the place and stand him up. She could do that, but, as much as the idea of meeting him in the same place where they used to see each other in the past made her uncomfortable, she couldn't just walk away, not before having this conversation with Finn. It was just and necessary that they speak and make everything clear between the two of them once and for all.

The click of her heels on the marble floor stopped.

The sound of the door announced her retarded guest.

Finn Mikaelson had finally arrived, and he smiled delightedly when he saw Emily inside the room.

He could not deny that he had his doubts and until the last moment he thought that she would not come and much less that she would wait for him, but here she was.

Finn walked confidently toward her and he leaned down to kiss her, but she averted her face and the furtive kiss fell on her cheek.

The seriousness and annoyance was more than evident in Emily's gaze.

"I'm sorry for my lateness... I was with my father."

Finn barely made an apology attempt by turning his back on her as he poured two drinks, with a gesture he offered one to Emily, but she didn't take it and got straight to the point.

"I'm not here for the reasons you think... my grandmother knows what happened between us."

Finn just tasted a little before swallowing, he placed the glass that she did not accept on the small table in the mini bar, turned around and looked closely at Emily, who was crossed her arms waiting for an answer.

Finn's reaction to any event was never easy for people to predict, he was always mysterious, reserved, serious, and even so, being so difficult for others to interpret, Emily knew him very well, she could read very well his body language.

He didn't believe to her.

"How did she find out?"

That was the most polite way he found to tell her that he didn't believe her.

They had been discreet in the time they were together, it was hard to believe Sheila just found out so easily.

Emily raised her eyebrows, her hands in the air, not even she herself knew how her grandmother managed to have access to that information, but that was not relevant. There was something more than yes, it could become a big problem for her.

"I do not know..."

She gave a half sigh and continued.

"But it won't be long before one of your relatives finds out, and by that I mean your wife, and as you can see, I don't want to be the cause of a marital problem. So... keep your distance with me."

Finn raised his eyes to her and bowed his head innocently.

Emily knew well what that look in his eyes meant.

"I'm serious Finn... stay away from me. From now on we are only related by the marriage of our younger brothers... more nothing!"

Emily picked up her bag and walked to the door, but Finn stopped her by grabbing her elbow.

"I don't think that can be possible, Emily, and you know it." His words were drenched in a lot of softness and almost, just almost sounded like a plea.

Finn was a strong and proud man, but when it came to her, all her defenses were shaking and Emily knew it. No matter how many threats he gave her, no matter how many feats of making her believe he was a man faithful to his peculiarly violent and frivolous tendencies, Finn would never dare to hurt her. Although his latest threat didn't strike her as funny as it did to him.

Finn no longer had any rights to her.

Things between the two of them ended after Finn made it clear that he couldn't leave Sage for her, and not only that, after Emily begged him to help Bonnie with the whole Kai situation. Finn simply refused to participate and assist even though he had the means to do so.

His refusal hurt Emily a lot.

But that had been buried in the past, as had her feelings for him.

She smiled at the irony. Now, he was the one practically pleading with her. In his own way, but he was doing it.

"I'm not interested. I told you that you would regret it. And look at you... It's not my fault Finn. And I take the opportunity to tell you that I'm not going to end my relationship, just like you didn't end your marriage when I asked—"

Finn hated that she used that card against him because despite everything, he tried, but the decision was beyond his domain.

"Things are very different for me... I cannot end my marriage just like that. You more than anyone understand the agreements that we sign between families. A marriage cannot be undone that simple when there is an alliance between clans!"

Emily looked away. She was so fed up with all the ridiculous loyalties based on ancient oaths that engulfed all the members who led that kind of life.

Damn, she didn't know how she got involved with a mobster's son and not just that...

Emily was hiding something else and was sure that if Finn found out, that would be the end of this whole story. He would blame her, he would no longer see her with the same eyes and for that reason she was not sure whether hiding the truth from him had been the right thing to do or not.

Yes, Emily was sorry she hadn't spoken at the time. Finn had every right to know that she had been expecting a child from him. Especially since that baby might have been his only child.

She would have given him the greatest joy of his life, something Sage could never do. But none of that mattered, because in the end Sage had won.

The same day that she went to tell him the truth, Finn decided that he would stay with his wife. He preferred to stay with Sage instead of her, and who was Emily to stop him.

The decision to leave him began because she did not want her child to live a shared life.

She begged only once. When he refused, there was no need to beg twice. Pride and dignity, that was it for her.

Emily preferred to shut up in a fit of anger, she didn't even think of using a child to hold him back.

That's why she kept her secret, but the secret didn't last long. After her terrible loss, the only people who came to know of her pregnancy were Lucy and her grandmother, or so Emily thought.

To this day no one knew that the father of her not born child was Finn Mikaelson. But Emily had a slight suspicion that her grandmother already handled that information. She just hoped Sheila didn't rub it in her face. That was one of the reasons she wanted to get away from Finn.

The reminder that she had lost her child was what prompted her to take another direction away from him. Emily no longer wanted any more painful dramas in her life.

Forgetting the past and not mentioning it was the best thing for her and for everyone.

But the past was a bad friend.

With her eyes glued to the ground, Emily stopped thinking about the past and focused once more on the present.

She raised her finger, and spoke with determination.

"That's why I'll repeat it... stay away from me. I don't want to be part of your world, not again..."

Those words made Finn stagger. He didn't blame her, what could he offer her, a life full of torments with him?

This was the end for them, whether they liked it or not, this had to end once and for all.

Emily walked over to him and couldn't help but do what she did. She gave him a small smile, lifted her feet and kissed him tenderly.

"Goodbye..."

Emily left the room, looked at her watch, she had to rush to meet Bonnie in her office.

Finn watched her go, sat on the bed, and thought things through more calmly.

If he wanted Emily back, he had to make things good from now on.

Esther placed the phone on the dressing table. She looked at her reflection in the mirror completely satisfied. She continued to carefully comb her blond hair. A pleasant smile on her face.

The call that she had just received, she was waiting for it all week.

Esther would meet with Héctor Zamora in a few days. He had finally agreed to listen to what she had to say to him.

By the sound of his voice, Esther was more than convinced that her plans would soon come true, she only hoped that Niklaus would not advocate having a good heart. If that turned out to be the case, she had to resort to a backup plan, and that plan had a first and last name, Camille O'Connell.

Her eyes narrowed.

Unexpectedly, the bastard was starting to hesitate, one week and he just wanted to throw everything away. Fool... just like his stupid mother.

Karen...

Esther found her reflection in the mirror again, she did not blink remembering Niklaus's mother. Yeah... he's a damn stupid just like his stupid mother was... Feeling totally proud, it was her face that Karen saw for the last time. Esther smiled without remorse, she never regretted it. With her eyes fixed on the mirror, she went back to combing her hair.

The bedroom door opened, Esther turned around to greet her husband.

"Honey... how was it for you in the vineyards?"

The happiness on Esther's face made Mikael believe that his wife was really glad to see him.

But no one, not even her husband, could suspect what the true intentions of such a calculating and power-hungry woman like Esther were.

Twelve months ago.

After receiving confirmation to begin her research in the new study on which she focused her thesis, Camille prepared very well to begin the first session. In front of her, her patient, this was the first time she had seen him in person and without a doubt the atmosphere felt tense and a bit intimidating.

At first glance, he seemed like a nice and harmless person, but Malachai Parker was anything but harmless.

His extensive criminal record was enough for anyone to think twice before starting a conversation with him.

Malachai Parker suffered from paranoid personality disorder. His compulsive, violent and obsessive nature were based on the need to dominate, control and classify. His sociopathy accompanied by misogyny made him lack real feelings. He pretended to understand his victims.

But, despite his despotism and vehement, Kai was a brilliant mind. His arrogance and cunning achieved flattering results when he set out to do what he wanted within a society, which according to him, was not yet ready for great changes. The way he calculated his actions were justified by his irrationality.

That had been a very accurate assessment. However, many of these behaviors did not match with respect to his last assault, yes, it was true that Malachai had serious mental problems, but none of that prevented him from being aware of his actions, and for that reason Camille was here.

Either Kai had become so brilliant that he had convinced the doctors to give that final assessment and put him in this institution, or in truth he was a person with a mental illness with no ability to distinguish the absolute value of a life.

After the introductions, Camille started directly with the reason that had made her come to this place.

"I read your file and I still can't understand what led you to act so differently against your last victim. Your background doesn't explain to me, why lash out at someone like her in such a calculating way? Why someone so young?"

Camille paused briefly and continued with her arguments.

"For approximately ten years you were attacking her. From acts such as mild harassment to attempted murder. Why wait so long? Before this case, you were charged with several charges, not only of physical violence and sexual assault, many more that—"

"Are you here to judge me? Miss O'Connell."

Camille immediately closed her mouth and shook her head. She had treated patients like him in the past. She knew how to keep her own emotions separate from her work environment, but this time she had been carried away by emotion.

"No..."

A pause.

"I'm not here to find you innocent or guilty, I'm here to understand the reasons that led you to commit such cruel acts towards someone so young. Bonnie was the first and only person you have attacked since she was a child. The first time you had contact with her, she was barely eleven-"

Kai leaned in and whispered to clear up the mistake.

"You are wrong... in many things, but I'm not going to bother about it. Like everyone else, you are ignorant of the truth. First, I never attacked her—"

Camille narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms not agreeing with what he had said.

"You were stalking her until you entered her house... several times. You were the only suspect charged with setting the fire at her house, her father died in that fire." she didn't mind accusing him this time.

Camille had already done her research by digging into his past.

Malachai Parker perpetrated two direct attacks on Bonnie after the events that ended the life of Robert Hopkins and of which he was seen as the main suspect.

Thanks to the help of his father, Joshua Parker, a great businessman and with excellent contacts in politics, kai managed to keep a low profile and hide all his atrocities.

Camille was not surprised that many of the charges against him were being contested.

The team of attorneys that worked for Joshua did a very good job cleaning up every one of Kai's mess, all of his victims ended up the same or worse than Bonnie.

Even the first time they went to court. Those people took advantage of how young Bonnie was and managed to twist her words in favor of them, making her see that everything she had seen was a simple mistake because of her fear of Kai.

Kai was acquitted of various charges and the only thing that came out of that judicial process was a restraining order.

The murder of Robert, Bonnie's father, which was brought to the prosecution in the first place as a first degree murder against Kai was overturned by a judge's decision, as there was not enough evidence to build a case against him. Even the investigation was still open and forgotten.

The case did not reach any major significance because no one wanted to investigate Robert's death. After discovering that he had leaked solid information in a case against Kai himself, no one wanted to defend a scapegoat.

Joshua took it upon himself to discredit Robert within the police department, and as much as he fought to prove otherwise, Robert lost credibility under the enormous influence of the Parker family.

The only person who defended him, Liz Forbes, had serious repercussions for it.

Until now, many believed that Robert had only gotten what he deserved. Unfortunately for him, he was unable to defend himself or protect his daughter.

After Sheila obtained full custody of Bonnie, she changed her Hopkins last name to Bennett, believing that with that her granddaughter would be invisible.

But Sheila, without enough contacts, couldn't do much to keep her granddaughter safe.

Kai managed to locate Bonnie with ease. For a time he harassed her until her dark wishes came true. The sexual assault occurred when Bonnie was on her way to high school. For that crime, Kai was only declared as an unstable person unable to distinguish the cruelty in his actions.

Joshua got a judge to lock him up in a psychiatric hospital. But the confinement only made his obsession with her level up.

The second and final attack on her came in the worst way imaginable.

In a fit of jealousy, Kai attacked Bonnie with enormous violence that almost cost her her life. Most appalling of all was that despite strong and refutable evidence against him, Kai was only convicted as mentally ill and processed to a high security institution for mentally ill offenders.

Most absurd of all was that a few months ago, a judge ordered his transfer to this city, something unexpected and definitely circumstantial.

Malachai Parker really was the monster from Bonnie's nightmares.

He claimed to love her, but it was not love that he felt, it was hatred towards her and it was uncontrollable.

How not to be afraid of that? Bonnie had been too strong for having endured all this. The victim before her ended up committing suicide.

Focusing on him once more, Camille continued with the session.

She was not a lawyer or a judge, she was here for a purpose. Being able to understand how a mind as aberrated as his worked, to help determine an appropriate psychological profile that will prevent people like him from walking the streets.

"Tell me Malachai... am I wrong?" She was really pushing him.

An unpleasant silence spread throughout the room.

Kai leaned back and his back touched the back of his chair.

"You said it Camille, I was a suspect, but nothing was ever proven against me. Besides, like everyone else, I'm sure it was an terrible incident with a very regrettable loss. I liked Robert, he was a good man." he answered dryly.

Camille took a breath and brought her joined hands to the table.

"Okay... then tell me again, Where else am I wrong?"

Kai's mood changed, his eyes flashing with extreme emotion.

"The first time I saw her, she wasn't eleven... she was nine."

Camille snorted inside. That was worse, but her emotions could not influence her work, she remained calm and spoke clearly.

"Does that mean... you accept that you've harassed her since then?"

She had to know how to use her words if she wanted the session to be a success.

Kai this time smiled in fascination.

"No... I met her because of fate..."

That did not make things look different, it was still unpleasant and disturbing and more to hear it in the tone he was using.

Camille cleared her throat. "Why a young girl... why Bonnie?"

That was one of the reasons that made her come to this place.

Bonnie had been the first victim to break the pattern that Kai held onto. With her, he was different. Finding the psychological profile that led him to be so ruthless with her was difficult, considering that Bonnie had not been his first victim, and of course he already came with the same pattern and that did not match his actions towards her.

Camille was here to understand the methodology of a mind that few thought they understood, but no. Malachai Parker was clever enough to convince psychiatrists to make a diagnosis or was he really a wicked and twisted mind.

Was this even an evil plan to stay close to her?

Camille would take care of finding that out. And knowing the reason why Kai had chosen her, could give her more details to understand exactly what he was like and thus help Bonnie overcome her fears.

Kai watched intently before sharing the information.

He spoke slowly and without regret because Bonnie was the best thing that had happened to him in his life, only that the obstacles he had, prevented him and her from fulfilling their destinies.

Camille waited patiently and asked again.

"Why Bonnie?"

Kai closed his eyes and smiled.

"And... why not her?"

He replied at the same time that he opened his eyes maliciously and continued.

"The first time I saw her... it was like a revelation... I saw my soul reflected in her eyes, it was a sign, I saw someone destined for me, someone that I could mold for me. I was tired of the same routine in my life, and in her... I saw a balance between good and evil, the analogy of someone pure and innocent, a contrast with my dirty and twisted mind... someone with whom to cleanse the dirt from my soul."

Kai closed his eyes again, the emotion in his voice was disturbing as he referred to Bonnie that way.

"A long time looking for something that I did not know, but the time I lost in that search had been worth it, because everything I learned was for the sole purpose of taking me to the moment when her green eyes met mine. I had finally found the right person, but she was so young. I tried to walk away... I'm not that perverted."

Kai clicked his tongue and moved his fingers across the table. He bowed his head and went on to describe the reasons that led him to see Bonnie differently from the others.

"You see, a thought did not allow me to sleep in peace... the girl would become a woman, and only then I understood. The idea in my mind was idealized so clearly... that woman was destined for me! And no one was going to interfere on the way to that destination... that simple, Camille."

This time Camille couldn't help but look at him in disgust upon hearing his confession.

He smirked for causing the repulsive expression on her face.

Kai gave her something else to think about.

He leaned in closer and whispered his fetish.

"But you know what I liked the most about her, Camille, that not for a moment... Bonnie screamed, never, she never screamed. And it doesn't matter if she changed her last name to Bennett. She will still be the little Bonnie Hopkins, who stole my heart. My little Bonster. Now do you understand? Now you know, why her?"

With a wicked smile, Kai finished speaking, dropping his body onto the chair.

His eyes danced with fun, while Camille felt a terrible urge to vomit.

At present.

Bonnie left her office without bothering to know the time.

She had already had an idea of how late it was when Emily left after successfully completing the meeting. She had negotiated a part of her shipment with her sister, the proposal that Emily made to Bonnie was more than she expected, considering that she was practically negotiating with the competition. However, that gave Bonnie more reason to move on with her new projects. Having Lucy's support would be easier and more favorable.

So far there were no problems in labor matters. But in the personal... No... she didn't want to focus on that, not yet.

Bonnie clenched her hands on the wheel, turned on her dipped headlights, and took the fastest route to the center.

The lights of the cars flashed on her tired face. Even if she hid it, she still looked exhausted.

All the way, Bonnie drove slowly. For a few seconds she doubted if it would be a good thing to go there, perhaps she had acted without thinking, but it was too late to retract, she had already made the call and Damon was waiting for her.

When Bonnie had finally reached her destination and she finally had access to the entrance of the building, she only needed five minutes to breathe and knock on the door.

Her hands were sweating and her heart was beating a thousand hours.

She blinked a couple of times and before the door opened she had completely controlled her anxiety.

When the door opened, a freshly showered Damon greeted her.

Bonnie swallowed, she didn't know what to say, and there was no need to say anything.

Damon smiled and spoke to her with the same affection as ever.

"Come in..." with a wave of his hand, he stepped aside for her to enter.

"Thank you."

And then her scent invaded his nostrils. He had spent a while without appreciating the sweet smell of tuberose. On the day of the wedding she was wearing another perfume not worthy of her.

Bonnie walked in with nerves swirling in her stomach.

Why was she so nervous? It was him...

But, what She did not understand and had refused to accept, was that Damon would always be that platonic love of the past, which neither of them had realized.

Bonnie came in looking at everything around her.

The apartment was a decent size.

"It's nice..." was the first thing that occurred to her to say upon entering.

Damon shoved his hands into his pants pockets and shrugged.

"Thanks. It's from a friend while I find myself a place to settle."

That was the only thing Damon talked to her the night of her wedding, he had returned after all this time to stay permanently. For her it was a great coincidence to meet him again. For Damon coincidences did not exist.

Bonnie lifted her head on her shoulders and looked at him with a smile. With all the light hitting his face, she took a better look at his appearance.

Damon looked even more mysterious and intimidating.

His hair was now longer than usual, he could easily pull it up in a ponytail.

A thought.

Maybe he let it grow to hide his scar.

His face had been marked and ruined, but to Bonnie, he looked the same as ever...

The scar was a terrible reminder of a past that enveloped them both. Like him, Bonnie also had scars, but those scars she could hide under her clothes, while Damon had to live forever showing that mark that divided his cheek in two.

However, there were other scars worse than a mark on the skin. And that, they both knew better than anyone.

Damon this time lowered his gaze a little and tried to hide his face. He noticed the place where her eyes stopped. His scar, something that still embarrassed him.

Bonnie had no problem walking toward him. With all her nerves and a bit of hesitation, she did what she hadn't done the last time the two of them saw each other.

To Damon's surprise, Bonnie ran her hand gently over his marked cheek, her eyes were gentle enough so that he wasn't embarrassed and then she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him.

The feeling was warm and her words explained the reason for her gesture.

"You never let me thank you, and... I didn't apologize for making your life more difficult..."

Bonnie closed her eyes as did he.

She was only sixteen when the two met. He, a twenty-year-old aspiring cop with a desire to become the best and she, just a high school student with a desire to live without fear.

Neither of them achieved what they wanted, but things would change from now on.

Damon said nothing for a long time and enjoyed holding her in his arms. He sighed and wrapped her tightly almost lifting her off the ground. With his eyes closed he inhaled in her pleasant scent.

He missed that smell.

Damon was with her on this tragic journey that ended up uniting them in a bond that not even they could understand.

He only regretted not having protected her enough. He was late that day when Kai came into her room and took her away.

Several days of chase, Damon was the one who managed to find the exact location where Kai was holding her captive.

It was exactly that day that Kai cut him in the face, leaving him that big scar, and it was that same day that Damon was about to beat him to death. If it hadn't been for the interruption of other agents, he would have ended this nightmare long ago.

After that outburst of anger, everything changed for him.

Joshua took it upon himself to discredit him just as he did to Bonnie's father.

Damon was fired from the police department. His dream of becoming a recognized agent was frustrated.

Guilt for not protecting Bonnie and the disappointment of a corrupt system gnawed at his senses. Those were the reasons why he left before Bonnie got out of the hospital.

Damon could never say goodbye and Bonnie couldn't thank him.

Those memories never left, as did the uncertainty of not knowing anything about each other, until the night of the wedding when they finally met again, and after so long they both deserved something like that. The hug they shared a week ago hadn't been enough. They both deserved a moment like this, where actions spoke louder than words.

"There is nothing to be grateful for... rather it is I who should apologize for not being on time..." He held on to her a little more before releasing her.

Bonnie knew well what he meant, but who was to predict what was going to happen that day?

Damon gave her some space and he wiped her tears. She nodded and walked awkwardly away from him.

A smile clouded her shame.

"Sorry, I've been very sensitive lately..."

Damon just smiled, his fingers getting in the way of the last tear on her cheek.

"Why don't you make yourself comfortable while I pour you something to drink... juice or water?"

He never liked seeing her cry. Although the past was painful, seeing her here in front of him was really good. Damon still didn't know that he had made her come here, but he was very happy that she had called him, for the last few days, he was waiting for her call.

"Just water... please."

"Water will be..."

Damon walked into the kitchen and Bonnie watched him walk away, it was strange and nice at the same time being here with him, she had completely forgotten the reason for her visit.

Bonnie with some nostalgia looked at the place again and went to the nearest sofa, but some documents on the table made her stop, drawing her attention, it was exactly a photograph that caught her attention, it was a person she thought she had seen... and then Bonnie recognized her.

Bonnie took out the photo that covered a complete page and opened her eyes without understanding.

Why Damon had a photo of... Kimberly Gutiérrez?

"Here it is..."

Damon arrived just in time. Bonnie moved her eyes to him and Damon knew immediately what she was going to ask when he saw the photo in her hands.

"Why do you have a picture of her?"

Damon pinched the tip of his nose.

Like Bonnie, he too was surprised a few weeks ago when he found out that this woman had studied with Lucy Bennett, Bonnie's cousin.

Niklaus wiped the sweat and blood splatters on his face after spitting on the ground. His breathing was tight, it had been a long time since he'd last done this, and to be honest, he was starting to long for the old days where he and Finn were the only ones to enjoy all the action.

However, it wasn't exactly having fun that made him come to this place. Having learned that the people responsible for the incident in the wineries were under Kol's supervision, it made Klaus make the decision to get involved, he certainly needed something to distract himself.

What he didn't count on was that his state of mind would lead him to lose control a bit, but fuck everything. Niklaus was pissed off and wanted to vent with something and what better than this to relieve his stress and forget his insomnia.

His head was battling a fight with all thoughts about what he had to do.

On the one hand, his father, giving him advice so that the relationship with his wife was really consolidated.

Esther, pressuring him to agree to ally himself with her ambitious intentions.

Camille, he hadn't heard from Camille, there was still a pending conversation between them.

The strange behavior of his daughter, he knew Hope was jealous.

And on the other hand, she... the one who tormented him the most was her... and that damn smell.

One week and he was already going crazy. The one responsible for all the imbalance in his life at that time was caused by a single person, his wife...

Bonnie Bennett Mikaelson.

Niklaus didn't know how to balance everything in his life.

But what weighed the most was that he didn't know how to fix everything between her and him. He had been an idiot to her a week ago and now he was paying for his stupidity. The first few days passed unscathed, but now it was too awkward and if they kept ignoring each other they would only end sooner than they agreed. He really wanted to run the party in peace, but he didn't know how to fix the shit he did.

Especially why he didn't know how to act, with the despicable way she saw him. He may not have cared about this indifference when he accepted this marriage, but now, he cared.

Niklaus had no idea why, but he didn't like her looking at him as if she really hated him or worse, as if she was afraid of him. And he wasn't sure, but her attitude told him that she had gone through something difficult, and just by imagining it his stomach turned, why he had been an idiot with her the same day of their wedding.

He didn't have the right to forcibly kiss her like a fucking pervert, that thought infuriated him.

For a week he was upset with himself for that reason and tonight he found a way to vent that overwhelming feeling that was blaming him completely. But all the chaos he was in aside, he really enjoyed being here.

Forgetting for an instant his wrong actions towards her, Niklaus passed the handkerchief all over his face, he was exhausted. He didn't want to think he was losing his faculties, but from his younger brother's laughter, perhaps he had to consider getting back into the game again.

Niklaus had taken a break. While Kol just made fun of all the mess he was making and Elijah just watched from afar so as not to get blood on his impeccable suit.

Finn walked into the warehouse and joined his brothers, something he didn't expect tonight. He ran his hands over his chin, amazed at first to see Elijah and Niklaus there.

From the sloppy way the scene looked in front of him, Finn guessed that this was solely the doing of his little brother Niklaus, old habits never die.

Kol affirmed it, raising his hands in reprieve and pointing to Niklaus as solely responsible for all of this. Kol hadn't even had a chance to participate in the questioning.

With a sigh, Finn shook his head, he just hoped he didn't disappoint his father by seeing that they had started without him.

Niklaus waved his hand, to which his brother understood.

Finn only agreed to participate because he really needed to, he had come for that, just like Niklaus, he was upset and stressed and all for the same cause, his stupid actions that made him clumsily disappoint a woman, Emily Bennett, the sister of his sister-in-law.

Finn didn't even take off his coat. He hit and hit until he got tired.

Three men were tied by the hands, hanging like sacks of potatoes.

The first of them completely unconscious, the second slowly bleeding to death, while the third watched in horror as the newly arrived man beat his partner until he was almost on the brink of death.

The fear in his eyes flared clearly, knowing that he would be next.

Yes, Mikaelson's men were cruel and ruthless men when it came to dealing with trash that didn't respect the rules.

The rules were simple, neither women nor children, only miserable like the three men in front of him. Men who attacked without conscience and who did not regret going over anyone, just to earn easy money and stained with blood.

Yes, Damon had made a detailed investigation of who these men were and their background did not give any remorse for the Mikaelson brothers, the three deserved death, not only for trying actions against them, but for all the crimes they committed against innocent people... the majority, Women and children.

Finn, like his brothers, fervently believed that it was all fair when it came to caring for and protecting the people that mattered to them. That belief was justified by the life they had known since childhood. In this criminal world, things were always handled in the same way, they were judges and executioner.

It was them... or their enemies. And obviously, they first over everyone else.

Finn didn't care that his sins would take him straight to hell if it meant protecting his family. It was with Niklaus that he shared the same sentiment and many moments like these, now Kol had taken that place after Niklaus took the reins of the organization behind a desk as Elijah.

Seeing him here brought back fond memories.

Niklaus shared glances with his older brother before starting on the third man. He shook his head, he had already drained enough for tonight. Niklaus knew his brother Finn very well and suspected he needed this too.

Finn said nothing, more calmly took off his jacket and unbuttoned the sleeves to fold them up to his elbows, he moved his neck and his bones creaked.

After his failed reunion with Emily, frustration drove him to the limit.

From the direction they were going, possibly they would not have any collaboration with the knights hanging by their hands.

So why prolong this shit?

Nonetheless, Finn was benebolent and gave the man a chance to redeem himself. He stood in front of him with a death expression on his face and simply asked the same question.

"Who gave the order?"

It didn't take long for the frightened man to give them the name they needed.

After listening well, all Mikaelsons present looked at Niklaus.

"Repeat what you just said..."

Niklaus commanded with fearsome fury in his voice as his tense steps brought him closer. His eyes widened with a burning anger that threatened to burn everything in his path if the only man alive did not explain what he had just said.

The bound man was crying shakily, begging in vain not to be killed while he finished giving all the information they needed, thus betraying his own people. Unlike the other two, he had no problem breaking omertà's oath.

Niklaus clenched his fists as he heard the entire confession. He growled with rage and helplessness. This was the last thing he expected from these damn people. Not only did they order the attacks on the wineries, the previous attacks endangered the whole family, his own daughter, many people who worked for them and who had nothing to do with this absurd fight.

Good and innocent people had died because of the fucking whim of those same people. And apparently they had forgotten what Niklaus promised them if they lashed out at his family again.

This time he was not going to have mercy on either of them. This had become personal and he would take care of it himself.

Anger was an automatic response, Niklaus drew his gun and shot the man in the head.

I'm sorry if it was difficult to read.

If there are errors I apologize, my knowledge of police matters and psychological diagnoses are not very extensive, I just let myself be carried away by my imagination. So I'm sorry if there was any confusion.

(The attack on Bonnie is based on a true event that occurred here in my country, the judicial system ruled in favor of an evil man just because he had money and influence, and the victim was a poor and humble young woman. The idea took more shape after seeing Sin City. I drew a bit on Nancy's story.)

So... In the past, Sheila did not have the resources to fight the judicial system. She, Robert, and even Damon couldn't protect Bonnie because of it.

((I don't know what justice is like in your country, but in my country that word doesn't even exist and more so when there is money involved.))
