Chapter 9:

I woke up on a porch in an outdoor reclining chair. From where I sat I could hear the faint sound of people talking around the nearest corner. I easily got to my feet and headed to the sound of the voices. I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard who was talking.

"Who are they?" an unknown voice asked.

"One of them, Dylan, we believe is Luke," Annabeth stated.

"Are you sure? I've met heroes that have came back for a chance at the Isles of the Blest, but it's been what 17 years?" the unknown voice asked.

"It makes sense though! Everything lines up, and well… Annabeth and I saw the scar from the knife and it matched perfectly!" Percy stated with much enthusiasm.

I walked around the corner to make my presence known. "Dylan is a gift from the gods or a god to help remind them of some promise they made but didn't keep. Percy, you said something about a promise when Dyan and I told you our age what was their promise that they didn't keep?" I asked them.

"I thought you thought we were crazy," Percy answered.

"I did but I've had… dreams or visions that have helped me piece somethings together, but there are still a lot of holes in the story," I told him honestly.

Annabeth studied me and started to speak up but decided it was better not to.

"Well, I guess you first need to know that we are half-bloods or demigods as your friend, Dylan, stated. One of your parents is a god, a greek god to be exact-"

"Who's your godly parent?" I asked him cutting him off.

He also began to study me but it was in more of a 'hey if I need to fight you I need to know what I'm up against' kind of way.

"Posiden, the god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses," he answered calmly as if he had done so a million times before. "Anyway, whoever your mother or father is broke their promise they made to me and the rest of the demigods by not claiming you by the age of thirteen. Which you and your friend are all pretty well over that age."

"That's why Dylan was sent here? To remind our parents who we have never met to take care of us?" I almost laughed. It was ridiculous. My father had never shown his face to me and he thinks he can just 'claim' me at some random summer camp?

"I know it sounds bad, but I promise the gods care they just get… 'busy'" Annabeth told me.

"So Luke's dad just got too busy for him and that why he turned into whatever he turned into?" I now had some anger in my voice.

Annabeth stared at me. She was shocked that I knew so much about Luke.

"What did you see in your dreams, Mya? And answer me truthfully," her voice squeaked a little when she asked me that.

I told her what I had seen, but left out the parts about how I had seen and talked to Luke. I didn't fully understand why he would show himself to me just yet, and I figured it would hurt Annabeth too much.

"This only proves both of your points." from the shadows the half-horse man appeared, "Hello Mya, I am Chiron, and I've heard a lot about you from both your friends and these two."

Chiron helped explain more into depth what exactly it meant to be a demigod while Percy and Annabeth left to go check on their kids. He showed me a terrible camp orientation video, and then explained how I would have to stay with the Hermes cabin since I hadn't been claimed.

"But I'm of age," I told him.

"Yes, you should've been claimed by now, but sometimes the gods get… busy and forget," he told me.

"It doesn't make sense they're gods they should be able to spare a couple minutes or hours for their kids! I mean they live forever! They're immortal!" I said to him frustrated. Thunder boomed from right above us and Chiron coward a bit.

"Let's refrain from saying what the gods should or shouldn't do child," Chiron told me, "Now come let me show you around camp."

Together Chiron and I walked around camp touring everything and everywhere. We walked past the stables which Chiron didn't seem to enjoy, I heard the clashing of metal when we passed the arena and when I looked inside I saw campers fighting with swords, and when we walked by the strawberry fields I was overwhelmed by the incredible fragrance of fresh strawberries. I saw the armory, the climbing wall which did spew lava from the top, and finally, we reached the cabins. There were dozens of them all customized in their own unique way.

Chiron led me to the most normal looking one and said, "This is the Hermes cabin inside you will find the cabin counselor, Jack Collias, he's probably introducing Liam and Dylan to the rest of the cabin so you should fit in just fine." With that, he galloped back towards the big house.

From the porch of the cabin, I could hear a lot of people from inside the cabin. I looked behind me to see if I was going to walk into this with someone or by myself, but I saw no one behind me. I took a deep breath and headed inside.

I open the door to the cabin and nobody seemed to notice my entrance. Inside the cabin was crowded with people. There were at least twenty people inside and every one of them seemed to be talking. There were only six bunk beds and they were all pushed off to the side of the room. On the floor, there were clothes, sleeping bags, and… weapons. In the middle of the room, I saw Liam and Dylan talking to a boy. He was pretty short but skinny. He had dirty blond hair which seemed to be almost freshly cut, and his eyes were about the same light blue color as Dylan's, but yet he seemed to be a little younger than Dylan but it very well could've looked like that because he was so short. He wore a sly grin on his face and by the looks of it he was trying to pickpocket both Liam and Dylan. I headed towards the group of three.

The boy and I made eye contact and quieted the whole cabin when he shouted, "Ah so you're Mya. These two have told me a lot about you."

"Yes, I'm Mya now if you wouldn't mind not trying to pickpocket both of my… friends in broad daylight that would be great!" I responded and the whole cabin broke into laughter. I hesitated before I said friends because I wasn't sure what to make of Liam after everything that had happened today. I was still confused about how he knew so much about… everything. I mean I was still confused about Dylan's situation but I had met Luke twice now and if that was who Dylan was 'before' then it made sense.

"Does the newbie even know who our dad is Jack?" someone shouted from the back of the cabin.

Jack's eyes glinted with mischiefness, "Well she should find out soon," he assured, "But for now keep your friends close, but keep your things closer!" The whole cabin laughed again, and everyone got back to their conversations.

"So before you were interrupted and caught pickpocketing me you were saying something about daily activities," Dylan told Jack.

"Yeah, the whole cabin does activities together every day and we follow this 'strict' schedule," Jack did air quotes when he said strict, "Soon we'll be heading to dinner so unless you get claimed by your godly parent you'll be joining the Hermes cabin. But until then let's get your sleeping bags set up."

He walked us over to the far left corner where the was maybe enough space for one person to sleep and said, "Yeah this should be good. Sorry there's not a lot of room it's just we have to take in any demigods that haven't been claimed yet, and with the searchers bringing in so many new demigods there's not a lot of space." He turned around and pointed at a small boy, "Chris go steal- I mean borrow some stuff from the camp store for these guys." Chris smiled and ran out of the cabin. Jack continued on like he hadn't asked a nine-year-old to go steal stuff, "Hopefully, you all will be claimed by the end of the capture the flag tonight, but if you're not I'm sure the Athena cabin will be happy with the extra bait- I mean help."

"Capture the flag? Like that game, people play when they're little?" Dylan asked Jack.

"Yeah, but we use weapons and magical items, ad speaking of that let's head to the shed to get you ready for tonight." Jack headed outside the cabin with the three following closely behind him.

We reached this small shed located close to the arena. There was no lock on the door that held the so-called 'magical weapons' and that did not comfort me. Yet I still entered the shed behind the other three.

Inside was just a mess there were swords, knives, bows with full quivers of arrows, and a few small hand pistols. Looking around nothing really looked like something I could see myself using.

"Take a look around though I wouldn't recommend using a gun against monsters because celestial bronze bullets are hard to come by," Jack told us, "Also Dylan I saw you came with that dagger of yours but I would recommend fighting with a sword instead but it's up to you."

I hadn't even noticed Dylan took Annabeth's dagger from the box that she showed us. I knew she offered it to us but I didn't see any reason to take it, but I guess Dylan felt like he had to take it.

"Umm yeah, I'll take a sword." he picked up one close to him and it seemed evenly balanced in his hand.

Jack whistled, "Boy does that blade have a story behind it. Congrats Dylan you just picked up the blade that Theseus killed the Minotaur with. It's named, δολοφόνος ταύρου, which stands for-"

"Bull killer," Dylan spoke softly while looking at the blade. He picked up a scabbard and put the sword away.

Liam picked up a sword of his own and looked at Jack to see if there was anything special about his weapon of choice.

"Nope, there's nothing special about that sword." Jack laughed at Liam's face after he said that.

No weapon felt like 'the one' when I looked at all of them so I ended up just grabbing a sword that was a little too heavy and kept me unbalanced.

"It should be-" Jack was interrupted by a horn blowing somewhere off in the distance, "Let's go to dinner and then try not to get killed during capture the flag!" he shouted and then ran off with the rest of us trying to keep up.

Fairyn- Thank you so much again for reviewing once again! I'm so glad that you enjoy this story I love reading your reviews and seeing that you love the story! It also makes it so much easier to write knowing that people actually enjoy reading what I write!

Guest- Thank you so much for the review! I'm glad to hear that you like that Dylan is Luke's second chance at the Isles of the Blest but the real question is will Dylan make the same mistake that Luke did or will he write his own narrative? I guess you'll just have to wait! ;)

So I've been listening to the Lighting Theif musical on repeat and I love how it shows how much pain Luke is in because I feel like the books didn't do a great job at that. I mean no hate toward Uncle Rick but I would totally love it if we had seen more pain in the places where we saw Luke. Anyways please review it would mean a lot!
