RWMtB: Ever After

Seth and Sarah: Proposal

5 Years Later…

Sarah sat in her room typing away at her term paper for her college English class, determined to be at least half-way done with it before five o' clock. She had given herself that deadline because there was a new episode of her favorite sci-fi show Andromeda airing and she was determined to watch it. She'd be damned if she missed it because of this paper. She was so focused on her paper that she didn't even notice her bedroom door creak open, nor the little being creep inside until he jumped on her bed with a shout.

"Roar!" J.J. shouted, startling his big sister who let out her own shout. Giggling he said, "Got you, sissy!"

Sarah glared at the five-year-old before smiling somewhat evilly. In an easy voice she said, "J.J."

Seeing she had his attention, she simply said, "Run."

J.J.'s eyes got big before he hopped off her bed and took off out of her room, Sarah hot on his heels. He squealed in laughter when he was grabbed from behind and tickled relentlessly, laughing louder when Sarah lifted him off the ground and spun him around. Their mother, who was watching the scene with a serene smile, shook her head before saying, "Okay you two, that's enough."

Sarah laughed as she put her little brother down before looking at her mother. "He interrupted my work."

"Yes, I know, though that was my fault. I asked him to go and get you for me, not scare you into the living room."

"But I did what you said!" J.J. said with a confused frown. "I brought sissy for you."

Bella couldn't help but giggle and give her son a kiss on his forehead. "Yes, you did. Thank you, honey."

Sarah shook her head and looked back at her mother. "Alright, I'm here. What's up, mom?"

Before Bella could answer, a knock was heard on the door. Looking at it, Bella simply said, "It's for you."

Frowning, Sarah went to the door and answered it, only to see a cute fluffy stuffed wolf greeting her. Blinking in surprise, she looked past the wolf to see her boyfriend of four years Seth Clearwater standing with a smile on his face. Smiling in return, she greeted cheerfully, "Hi Sethy."

"Hi Sarah," Seth greeted, handing her the wolf before bending slightly to give her a kiss. Looking past her, he greeted Bella and J.J. before turning back to his girlfriend. "I hope you like that wolf, because there are a few more things I have for you before my big surprise."

"Surprise? Seth, you know I don't like surprises."

"I know, but you're going to love this one, I promise."

Sarah looked into the man's eyes, seeing nothing but sincerity in them. Nodding she said, "Okay, I'll bite. But wherever we're going, can we please be back before five? A new episode of Andromeda is coming on and I don't plan on missing it."

Chuckling Seth nodded, patiently waiting for the young woman to put her shoes on. Once they were on, she bid her mom and brother 'goodbye' before leaving with Seth in his car. As they left, Bella watched them go with a big grin on her face. Her daughter had no idea what Seth had in store for her.

Initially Sarah had thought that Seth was just taking her on a surprise date, especially when he stopped by his mother's house and Sue and Leah had taken her from his car and into the house to change her out of her clothes and into a cute sundress. She had still thought the same when they had stopped by her Uncle Quil's and picked up a bouquet of roses. It was actually five small bouquets of five roses altogether in one. However, it was when they had made the stop by Uncle Embry's for five red heart-shaped balloons did she begin to think otherwise. They had stopped for all this stuff, and every time she asked, Seth would just smile and tell her to wait and see.

As they continued to drive, Sarah looked at everything, wondering if she was missing something. It was still possibly a date, but why all this stuff? Seth didn't have to get her anything to please her, he knew this. So why go through all of this just for a simple date? A sudden thought struck her and her eyes widened. Looking at her boyfriend she asked, "It's our anniversary, isn't it?"

"Huh?" Seth asked surprised.

"This! You're doing all this stuff because it's our anniversary and I've forgotten!"

Taking her hand in his, he gave it a reassuring squeeze and said, "No, it's not our anniversary, Sarah. We don't celebrate that for another two weeks."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive," Seth replied with a chuckle.

Sarah nodded and took a deep breath to calm herself again. Soon, Seth pulled off the road and stopped, putting the car in park and getting out. Sarah got out as well, still holding onto the stuffed wolf that look just like her boyfriend in his spirit wolf form. Taking each other's hand, they walked along the path of the wooded area, Sarah belatedly realizing they were taking the path to the cliff where the Pack cliff dived. As they reached the cliff, Sarah stopped upon seeing the little picnic set up on the ground, romantic candles lit in the shape of a heart next to it, and an 'S+S' in the middle of the heart.

Eyes wide, Sarah said in disbelief, "It is our anniversary!"

Seth looked at his girlfriend and said patiently, "Again, it isn't our anniversary."

"Well, I can't think of any other reason you would do all this stuff for me! I'm such an idiot, I forgot our anniversary!"

Gently taking her by her shoulders, Seth made Sarah face him and looked into her panicked eyes. "Listen, calm down. It isn't our anniversary, but it is something rather important. And even if it wasn't, I would do all of this for you anyway. This is the surprise I mentioned earlier."

Sarah stared at her boyfriend, seeing that he was being completely honest about what he said. Taking a deep breath, she nodded and said calmly, "Okay, it's not our anniversary."

"No."

"But it is still a surprise."

"Yes."

"Is this it?"

"Not quite," a new voice spoke up.

Turning around, Sarah was surprised to find her father standing behind her in the tree line. Shocked at the sight of him, she couldn't help but say, "Daddy!"

Jacob smiled and walked up to her. Stopping in front of her, he took the time to look at his little girl all grown up now. Smiling, he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her close, Sarah hugging him in return. When he finally pulled away, he said to her, "Sarah, you may be grown up now—a twenty-one-year-old grown up—but you'll always be my little girl. And I know you know that no matter what, you can come to me for anything. I told myself that when it came time for you to date, I'd never give you away to the man that wanted your hand in marriage. Even so, there is only one that I trust and am willing to give your hand to, and he has my blessing. But it's up to you whether you agree or not."

Sarah stared up in confusion at her father for a moment before understanding of his words sank in. Her heart beating fast in her chest, she quickly turned around to find Seth down on one knee, his hands holding a little black velvet box, a beautiful princess cut diamond ring nestled in it. Gasping in surprise, Sarah threw her hands over her mouth, her chocolate brown eyes filling with tears.

Seth smiled and opened his mouth to speak, but before he could Sarah threw herself at him and knocked him flat on his back in a hug. With happy tears streaming down her face, Sarah exclaimed, "Yes! Yes, I'll marry you!"

"Sarah, let the man at least ask," Jacob said with a fond smile.

Laughing, Seth sat up with Sarah on his lap. And though he had already gotten his answer, he asked his Imprint anyway, "Will you marry me, Sarah?"

Wiping her tears, Sarah nodded and laughed happily as her fiancé—fiancé!—took the ring out of the box and placed it on her finger. Once it was on her finger, fitting like a glove, she wrapped her arms around Seth's neck and kissed him with every ounce of love she had for him.

Jacob looked at them with a smile, happy that they were happy. Knowing his daughter was in good hands, he turned and began walking back down the path towards his own car. As he walked, he took out his phone and sent a text to the group chat that consisted of the Pack members and Bella. In a quick message, he sent out 'She said yes.'

Putting his phone away, Jacob stopped and looked back up towards the cliff where he could just see Sarah and Seth hugging each other, still seated in their positions on the ground. His daughter's face was glowing, and he didn't think he'd ever seen her this happy. And his daughter's happiness was all he could ask and hope for.
