I stared down at the pancake, poking at it. The thought was still trailing in my head from this early morning. I did ignore it, but in some cases, it got to me. I swear, why would I say "nothing will go wrong"? That is so dumb! Something horrible will happen and what does my brain do? Panics. I let out a sigh.

''Is your stancake poisoned?'' I heard my sister say. Mabel was sitting next to me, eating her pancakes with delight.

''No, it's not, just something caught in my head.'' I said, cutting a piece off to eat.

''Been thinking about Wendy lately?'' She asked. I let out a muffled chuckle as I swallowed my food to speak. ''I have, don't worry.''

''You better not hurt her feelings.'' She said, chomping down the rest of her pancake.

''I'm not! Don't get defensive.'' I grunted before cutting off another piece of the pancake.

''Alright! Just checking!'' She chirped. I rolled my eyes before finishing my pancake. Once we were all done, we took our plates into the kitchen to wash them before exiting. My sister elbows me before leaving my sister. I glared at her before stumbling into the living room. Maybe I need to take some time off of my head, spending time in this world won't hurt.

I relaxed a bit this morning before going out and hanging out with some friends that I called up. It was like the other greet ups: chit chat here and there, chilling with food, and a little gaming as well. At least all the worrying is gone, let's keep it that way. It was afternoon, a whole morning without trouble. I walked back to the Mystery Shack, staring down at the ground with my hands in my pocket. I jumped once I saw my sister appeared right beside me. ''You did hurt her feelings!'' She shouted.

''What...?'' I said, confused at her before realizing a second later. ''I didn't!''

''Yes, you did! You didn't even care about her.'' She hissed.

''I don't know what you're on about, Mabel. I didn't hurt Wendy's feelings.'' I said, shaking my head and looking ahead.

''You don't remember?'' She said which made me look back at her.

''Remember what?'' I asked, confused. Did my soulless self do something to her? That would be the death of me if it did.

''... Grunkle Stan is right, those nightmares are getting to you.'' She said, speeding her pace up.

''Wait! I wanted to know what I did to her!'' I said, speeding up my pace as well. We entered the shack and into the hallway. ''Mabel!''

''You should remember what happen!'' She said as she walked into the living room.

''I'm sorry I don't.'' I said.

''You should be saying that to Wendy!'' She hissed. I halted at the arch before looking down. I turn my head around to Grunkle Stan staring at me with a worried expression. I should be more mature about this and just take it into my hands. I watched him approach me as he looked in the living room. ''What happened now? Another sibling fight?''

''No. Dipper just forgot about his promise.'' Mabel said. I didn't forget about the promise! I just don't know what my soulless self said or did. Maybe this is becoming an unhealthy environment. Wasn't she fine yesterday? She did mention a few days prior that she took a vacation. So what is this sudden outburst from Mabel? I turn my head to give her a good firm look. ''Did you talk to Wendy?'' I asked.

''No, because you-''

''I don't know who told you this lie but Wendy is out of town at the moment. She left a few days earlier. She'll be coming back next week.'' I said. She does call every once a while, that is good. She looked at me with her angry expression, slowly turning into a confused one. I blinked, waiting for a response from her.

''I thought... I must have taken it too seriously.'' She said, frowning. ''I am so sorry for doubting you, Dipper.''

''Apology accepted. Now, who told you this lie?'' I asked. She looked at me before walking over.

''Gideon for some odd reason, I don't know why he told that lie. Is he jealous of you?'' She asked.

I grumbled a bit before turning my attention to her. ''Probably.''

''The kid will get there one day, I'm glad you two made up. Now get out, I'm trying to get into my living room without raming you guys down.'' I heard Grunkle Stan say.

''Sorry, Grunkle Stan!'' Mabel said exiting the room and towards the staircase. I backed out of the arch. My great-uncle gave me a worried look before entering the living room. He's still worried about me... I'm grateful for that. I turned to the staircase and glared at it. Really Gideon?! Are you trying to get me to be sorry about what I've done to you? I'm not sorry one bit, after what, mind controlling me? I let out a sigh and climbed up the stairs once I walked to them. I then walked over to the triangular window and stared out of it. I'm not going to confront him, even if it's a bad thing... I may as well do so, but I can only do it after the fight.

I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the window. "It will cost you one day and you will know that for a fact" The phrase came into mind, making my hands turn into fists. Is that what he means by it? Or is he trying to make it worse than it is? He doesn't need to get involved with my life, and already, he broke that vow. Well... not really... it never applies to other worlds. He is still keeping his promise, but when will it be broken? I'm not even quite sure myself. It's not important right now. For now, I can relax and chill for a bit.

I sat on my bed, turning over to my sister who jumped into hers. I turned back to the door of our room, staring at it intensely. ''Is there something wrong, Dipper?'' I heard my sister's voice. I turn my gaze back to her, shaking my head. She looked a bit worried, wondering why I was staring at the door for a second. ''Is somebody there?''

''No. No one's there.'' I said.

''Alright. Goodnight!'' She said, before turning off the lamp. She turned and shrank deeper into her bed, possibly falling asleep within seconds later. I turned my gaze away and looked back at the door. I have a slight feeling that... my words did not work. I shook my head, No. I'm not doubting him now. I grip the bed sheets tightly before letting out a sigh. I do hope the soul and the body are connected as one to wake the other up in case something happens. I lean back and covering myself with my sheets. I stared at the ceiling before closing my eyes.

I opened my eyes, sitting up from the stone cold bed. I stared at it before looking around the apartment. I could have left this form next to the planet, but I did not. I stood up and walked over to the door and opened it. I exited my room and went down the stairs. I exited the building and looked around. ''So... Kitz's fight is today... or right now?'' I muttered, looking up to the noises over at the crowd in the distance. I tilted my head slightly before walking over. The starry beings were shouting and cheering on someone: Hearing "good luck" or "you will never beat him." Before I knew it, I realize who was here.

I walked around the crowd, seeing the humanoid fox standing proud with his pride. I smiled before halting. Soon I caught him seeing the sight of me before running over. ''Just in time! I'm about to head over to the Arena Sphere to face Gidlax.'' He said.

''And I see a crowd of starry creatures that are either cheering you or booing you off.'' I said.

''Yea. But what matters is that I must remain calm and focus.'' He said. I nodded, agreeing with him.

''I do hope you win.'' I said as one of my deer ears flickered.

''Thank you, Maxon.'' He chirped before turning to his right to the yellow blur.

''Ah, so you already met up with him?'' The demon asked.

''I just happen to run into him.'' I answered.

''Speaking of that, I must get going. Do hope you come, Maxon!'' Kitz said before rushing off to the traveling port. I watched him go before turning over to the demon. I grunted before averting my gaze away from him.

''I suppose, in your beliefs, nothing will happen, right?'' Bill asked.

''...'' I didn't respond. I didn't want to. I shook my head and turned away. ''Let's just go.'' I said. I begin to walk casually towards the traveling port, ignoring the voices that screamed from the back of my mind to come back to the real world and look out for my grunkle. I don't want to believe it all.

''Alright, our little soothsayer is already misusing his powers. Treating it like it doesn't exist at all.'' I heard the demon say. I mumbled myself quietly before shaking off the annoying thought. We arrived at the port, walking over to the panel to call for a hover bus. I flinched and froze a bit, staring at the screen. I snapped out of the thought before turning over to the demon who was already climbing on the hover bus. I grumbled before walking over and climb on board. I sat down on the seat, hugging myself tightly. I kept feeling this cold aura generating from behind me like I was shivering constantly. Soon my head bounded against my skull, making me lean forward from the pain. ''...'' I quickly sat up, shaking it off. ''You're not doing this right?'' I asked.

''Doing what?'' The demon responded, confusion and curiosity were heard from his tone. I looked over at him, watching him narrowed his eyes. I blinked before turning my gaze away. ''... Nothing.'' I muttered, leaning on the bus's window. Is this power warning me for the future? It may just be how the air is here... if there's even air here. Soon we arrived and exited the hover bus. I walked out from under the traveling port, staring at the arena in front of me. I halted, freezing in place. ''I guess the appearance fits well with your actions.'' I heard the demon say. I felt the cold spreading from my back to my arms, soon to my hands if I step closer to the Arena. Something telling me to not approach it at all. And maybe, it's telling me I should check back down on Earth. I shook my head, staring at the building in fear. ''Please tell me the results.'' I begin to say. ''Because I won't be here when the fight begins.''

''...Are you going back? Am I right after all?'' Bill asked.

''I don't know, but I'm not sticking around to wait for this coldness to freeze me to the touch. I'm heading back.'' I said, turning away.

''Alright.'' I heard him say before I took off into a rush. I took the hover bus back to the main sphere, soon itching with impatience. Once I arrived, I dashed off of the vehicle and out of the traveling port. I made sure I didn't run into anyone. I don't want to cause a scene where I'll be even later to this cause. I halted by the transparent shield and gazed up at it. I stepped into the open space, commanding my body to float towards the blue-green planet. I stopped myself before placing a hand on it. In an instant, the planet grew vast, letting me enter back to where I was. Grunkle Ford... don't tell me... you went against my word.

I slowly opened my eyes, staring at the ceiling. I gain the feeling in my limbs before sitting straight up. I frantically looked around the room as everything was the same as before. I heard my heart throbbing in my throat, making my limbs shake with an uncontrollable force. I gazed over to my sister, who was still asleep with the sound of her dreams. I turned my body and stood up from the soft comfort of my bed. I walked over to the lamp and turn it on. I watched my sister flinch from the light, soon waking up from her dreams. I turned my head to the door of our room, eyeing it.

''Dip...? What are... you doing... up?'' I heard my sister say with tiredness slowing down her speech. I backed away from the lamp and over to the door. ''... Dipper?'' I heard my sister again, much more clearly this time, only then worry was in her voice. I put my finger in front of my lips, making a shush sound to her. I turn my gaze over to her, noticing the nod of her head. I also notice she was getting up, wondering why I was so fascinated by our door. I grab the knob, turning it just slightly before feeling a force from the other side. I widened my eyes in fear, soon doom entered my ears, telling me something that... everything happened... every vision, every voice of the future was true. I lifted up my head at the door, losing the grip of the doorknob. ''... Dipper... are you alright?'' I heard my sister whispered. I noticed she stood next to me, rubbing my back in case I run into another paranoid show. I calmed down a bit before shaking my head. I don't know how to explain this to my sister. I don't know how to explain any of this. ''... I don't feel safe here when there's another entity who is willing to remove me from my unguarded spot.'' I whispered quietly.

''... We're safe in this shack, Dip.'' She whispered back, in her usual soft spoken tone.

''We're not with that thing outside of the door to our room.'' I whispered back to her. The fear and panic, and possibly anger were shown in my eyes as well in my facial expressions.

''... Okay. I'll go and make sure the "thing" you are afraid of is not out there, alright?'' She said before lifting her hand to the doorknob. Something told me to grab her wrist from the back of my mind, warning me that, if she opens it... she might get caught and I'll be left with no option to fight back. I didn't end up grabbing her wrist, I just stood there like a frozen fawn. I watched her turn the knob, trying to pull the door back, only to realize it didn't budge. I tilted my head in confusion.

''... Did the thing locked us in here?'' Mabel asked in a whisper.

''... I think so... I was expecting something different...'' I whispered quietly.

''... I'm going to call Grunkle Stan.'' She said, turning away and headed for the dresser. I watched her go before hearing a loud thud from the door. I flinched and jerked my head over to the sound. I then heard shouts and angry voices from the other side. What is going on out there? I heard another loud thud from the door, making me back away from it. ''... What is going on?'' My sister said, much louder this time for me to hear.

''I don't know, Mabel.'' I said, keeping my eyes on the door.

''Did one of our grunkles catch the thing?'' She asked, walking over to me with her phone in hand.

''I think... that what's happening.'' I answered, partly not sure if Grunkle Stan is attacking Grunkle Ford. Our nerdy grunkle was on the other side of the door... getting ready to come in and capture me. He was ready... to do the experiment on me... ... But, knowing him, he wouldn't do such a thing. Grunkle Ford wouldn't just go against his great-nephew's words and work what he does on me... He wouldn't.. he wouldn't... at all...

''Dipper! Snap out of it.'' My sister's voice slipped through my thoughts, forcing me back to reality. I blinked my eyes and looked over at her, who was trying to calm me down. I shook my head before staring at the door of our room. ''Does this thing bothers you so much?'' She asked.

''... It does, and I don't feel safe in this shack anymore.'' I said, the fear still lingered in my voice.

''Alright. I know what to do.'' She said before turning away to the closet. I watched her closely, seeing her pull out a suitcase. She places it next to the closet before waving a hand towards me to come over. I slowly walked over, wondering what she's doing. ''If you don't feel safe here, Dipper. I can always book you a hotel room at the motel in town.'' She said. ''I'm sure the thing won't find you there.''

I nodded quickly, agreeing to the idea in an instant. She then told me to help pack my clothes into the suitcase. I then zip it up before grabbing the handle with a nervous hand. I looked over at her, watching her stare at the door for a moment. She walked over to it, putting her hand on the kob, twisting it to open. Once again, it didn't react. I heard her let out a sigh. ''We do have our climbing abilities, don't we?'' She asked.

''... Of course, if we can't leave the room, might as well use the window.'' I said, looking at the moon's light shining in. I watched my sister walked over to it. I did so as well. We moved everything off of our dresser before sister climbed on to it to unlock the window and open it. I watched her climb onto the roof before turning to me. ''Hand me your suitcase first.'' She said before I picked it up and carefully moving it through the window. She grabbed it and place it on the roof beside her, leaving one hand on it. She then held out a hand for me to grab on. I did so, making one last look at the door. She pulled me up, about and through the window. We then made our way down the roof and onto the grass. As soon as I landed, I heard the loud shouts from the shack, staring at the building intensely. ''Come on, that thing might spot us if we stay here any longer.'' I heard my sister whispered. I turned to her and nodded. We soon took off, walking under the midnight moon, hearing the crickets chirp and the owls' noises.

We strolled through the sleeping town, walking in the direction of the motel. Soon we entered, seeing only one person at the counter, keeping on guard. ''Oh! Are you here for the 24/7 service?'' They spoke, snapping back from their unconscious mind and look at us with full attention. Although there were some signs of sleep deprivation in the man. ''We're just here for one room.'' My sister answered. ''Also, we're not moving in, just my brother.''

''Alright! I'll get the room ready!'' The man said, turning away, tripping over some things before rushing over to the staircase. I looked over to her as she stared at me. ''I do hope... that thing isn't in our shack by the time I get back.'' She said.

''... That thing maybe someone you know.'' I said quietly.

''Is the shapeshifter back again?'' She asked. ''I thought we killed it years ago.''

''Not the shapeshifter... something else.'' I said.

''... Oh, so something else is up on the horizon, What did you get yourself into now?'' She asked, crossing her arms at me.

''... Possibly a lot of things. Things that I don't want to talk about at the moment.'' I said before letting out a yawn.

''Well, you can tell me in the morning, alright?'' She said, elbowing me. I smiled gently and nodded.

''I may have the energy in the morning to tell you then.'' I said, turning over to the worker who just returned. The man said the room was ready as we walked over. My sister paid for the room that I was going to stay in. Although, the cost was a lot, maybe so... around 80 dollars. The main reason is that I don't know when I'll be able to move back into the shack. I don't know if I can go back. I hugged my sister as she hugged me back. She told me good luck with the place as I nodded. I was shown to my room, and the keys to it were placed in my hands. I nodded to the man before entering in.

I stepped into the medium size room, staring at the double size bed. I blinked before shrugging. I rolled my suitcase over to the plain dresser, staring out the window that was above it. I closed my eyes and breathed in and out, trying to calm my mind from the disaster that I avoided. I turned to the bed and walked over. I collapsed on it, climbing under the blankets and curled up. I stared at the empty table, slowly but surely, my eyelids were closing by themselves. My body was still on this flight or fight status as if I can never escape this endless shaking of my limbs. I know it's a new room, but please... try to calm down and let me sleep. I soon drifted off, lingering with an anxious mind.

End of Chapter 10 - Why Grunkle Ford?

This is probably not the first time I made Ford bad. YB may be the only story where he is accepting and nice.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed that ride of a trip.

As always, if there any errors that I missed, feel free to correct me! I may update the chapter right away or whenever I possibly can with the correct info.

For now, see you in the next chapter!

well, this upload is 6 days late and I'm finally coming around to uploading this, apologize if anyone was waiting.
