The boys began to wander back to their homes as the sunlight peaked over the horizon.

Rufio spun the girl once more, laughing at her smiling face as he bowed to her.

Pan appeared on the other side of her as she turned to walk back into the town.

Rufio and Felix backed away from the pair of them, wandering into town as well.

Pan bowed to her, making a more flourished grand gesture than Rufio had. "My lady." He kissed the back of her hand.

She smiled at him, "Kind, sir." She laughed, curtseying.

"My name is Peter Pan." He smiled, pulling her closer to him.

Her skin seemed to glow before him, more than simply a reflection of the fire, it was as though she were an ember herself that burned from the inside out.

"My name is Melody." She relied, allowing him to step closer to her.

"Perhaps we can take a stroll, before the sun rises?"

She glanced back at the town, "My parents will worry."

"Do they rise at such an early hour?"

She shuffled her feet, "I do not want to concern them."

Peter looked down at her hand, still in his hand. "Perhaps I could escort you back?"

She looked over his shoulder at the low horizon, the world still cloaked in darkness. "Yes, I believe that would be preferable."

Pan smirked, holding his arm out for her to take.

Rufio and Felix watched from the shadows as their leader was led away by the girl.

"I don't like this." Felix whispered to his friend.

"Perhaps not, but I danced with her. She is bright, innocent, the opposite of everything that he is."

"Even more reason he should leave her alone."

"Unless she can balance out the magic." Rufio watched the pair of them wanter away.

"There is no magic here, she cannot be more than another common girl."

"We were once common children from a world with no magic."

"She's a girl, Rufio!"

Rufio rolled his eyes. "Balance, Felix. Give her a chance."
