It didn't take very long for the three of us to arrive at the Cullen residence; and when we walked into the living area I noted that everyone was sitting around waiting for us. Apparently Alice had filled them all in; however when Renesmee threw them all a concerned look this caused Rosalie to question whether we had told her, to which me and Edward simply nodded.

It was at this point in which I told everyone that Jacob said that he was going to tell Sam and the other pack members that we will meet them tonight around nine o'clock, usual place. This made Emmett cheer, which caused Rosalie to roll her eyes at this. Carlisle then began to wonder out loud that he hoped that he was going to be able to talk to Jane to try and understand what she was up to. I asked him what he was going to do if we were unable to do this; he then stated that he hoped to get Edward close enough so he could read his mind.

I had mixed feelings about this; I didn't really want Edward anywhere near any of the Volturi; thankfully his powers stretched over a distance to keep him safe. But in my opinion it would never be safe enough. I hated how my family have to go through this; it made me feel like we were always going to be fighting for our freedom and way of lives against the Volturi. At times like this I couldn't help thinking about whether we were just biding against time; of course I didn't want this. I wanted a long and happy life with my family; I just hoped that the Volturi was going to afford us that.

Before I knew it it was eight forty five and we were all leaving to go and meet with the packs; as I began to follow Edward out of the house I just began to hope that things were going to go swimmingly this evening. However with the Volturi lingering around - I wasn't going to let my hopes get too high.

When we got to the border I quickly checked my watch to see that it was eight fifty nine. As I looked back around the scene I couldn't help but think back to when all of us were here for Jasper's fighting lessons in preparation for our fight with Victoria. Remembering sitting watching how my family trained as the wolves watched from a far seemed like such a distant memory, a different lifetime almost - even though I now classed it as such. When I transformed into a vampire I thought of it as a new chance, a new life to live with my daughter, family and most of all my husband.

My mind then went back to it's current turmoil but showing me the risks that Jane, and whoever else she had decided to bring to Forks, brought to my family. I just couldn't see why they felt the need to come here, we weren't doing any harm to any of them! I know that Aro was after myself and Alice, but we were never going to join the Volturi - he was going to have to come to terms with this. It was getting to the point in which I was coming to believe that they were looking for an excuse to attack us, to force our hand to join them - something that I really didn't want to happen. Ever!

I was broken out of my train of thought when I watched as the wolves, led by Jake all entered the meadow. I still couldn't get over how majestic this was; after imprinting on Renesmee Jacob went back to the packs and talked everything out. He accepted his rightful place as the pack leader; the bond between the wolves ignited once more and Sam became his beta. I know that this caused a little bit of friction at the start; but the whole pack had come to follow Jacob. I did ask why did he still say the word packs rather than pack and he said it was a false of habit; but his pack acted as one - and this is what mattered the most apparently.

"Edward will translate!" Carlisle called out, and I watched as all of them nodded at this. I nearly went to question why they weren't in their mortal form but I quickly stopped myself as I knew the answer - as Jane could be lingering around in the forest right now they didn't want to leave anything to chance.

I watched as Carlisle went to say something; but we all froze when we heard a noise in the distance. It felt like there was a sudden chill in the air as the wolves as tensed up and growled as they looked in the direction of the noise. As I looked over towards them I watched as a red blur was running in our direction; however when they saw that we were stood they come to an abrupt stop. As they did this they threw their head back causing their hood to fall back, and Jane's bright blonde locks and pale looking face appeared. It was like time stood still for a few seconds before Jacob and Sam snarled before they started to run towards her, causing her to turn and quickly run in the opposite direction.

"NO!" Carlisle shouted as we began to run after the wolves. "Stop!" he called after the wolves as we caught up to them. "We need to talk to her" he stated, we heard Jane's laugh started to echo around the forest. I heard all of the wolves snarl together as they pushed on with their chase.

The chase went on for a few more minutes, with Jane laughing at us the whole time. I saw a clearing start to appear in the distance; and I watched as she span around and started to run backwards as she chuckled at us all. I watched as she glared at the wolves and I knew what she was doing; so I quickly pushed my shield forward so it was around my family and the wolves. I watched as her face dropped and she glared at me, before spinning around and continuing running towards the edge of the clearing.

"We are getting close to the border!" I heard Jasper call out to us as I watched as Jane jumped over the river in the verge and landed smoothly on the over side, that was slightly lower than the land we were currently running on.

"So?" I heard Emmett dismiss. "Let's end this!" he chuckled as he headed towards the edge of the verge as Jane stood still and looked up at us all.

"Emmett no!" Carlisle shouted as Emmett followed Jane over the verge as the rest of us skidded to a stop. I then watched as Emmett landed next to Jane, before the pair of them lunged at each other. Emmett was able to quickly move out of the way of Jane trying to claw at him; but she quickly span around and kicked him in his broad chest which made him fly back and land threw a weakened and old tree. The verge then filled with the loud snap of the tree, with Rosalie's scream seconds later. She went to jump forward but Edward was too quick for her and grabbed hold of her and held her tightly. We all then watched as Jane winked at us all before ran along the short neighbouring verge and jumped down it; through a waterfall and towards the large lake below.

"Thank you" I heard Carlisle say, after a few moments of us standing in silence as Emmett climbed back up to us. "We need to do this peacefully" he reminded us all, and I heard Jacob and Sam whine.

"Sam and Jake are unsure on that" Edward explained, causing Carlisle to nod at this.

"Let's go back and discuss this" he offered as he looked over to the pair of them, and I watched as they nodded at this before they all turned away to start their walk back to the border.

Before I turned around I looked in the distance below to see Jane climb out of the lake; she turned around and looked over to us all - no doubt to see if we did in fact follow her. I couldn't like to myself and say that part of me didn't want to follow her and get answers because this was in fact a lie. I wanted to know what she was playing at; try to find a resolve. The life and love that me and my family had together meant a great deal to me; and I would do anything and everything to ensure it's safety.

When we got back to the border boundary we then stood as we shared a conversation with the pack still in their wolf form. Carlisle kept stressing the prospect for a peaceful outcome; but the wolves didn't know whether that this was actually going to be possible. Edward described everything through out the meeting; and the wolves general consensus was that if Jane or other vampires kept coming onto their land then they had no choice to act. They did however state that they would try Carlisle's way first, as they had built up a respect for him, but only for a certain amount of time.

When we came away from the meeting we had arranged that we were going to do patrols around the area to ensure that Jane or any members of the Volturi was getting into our area. We stated that we would take it in turns; however Jacob stressed that he wanted someone with Renesmee at all times. It was at this point when Edward stated that he wanted me to stay with our daughter; when I asked him about that he said that he wanted us both to be safe. I accepted this - but I also thought that it was also down to Alice's vision as well. I understood why he would think this; but surely he didn't think that I was just going to sit back as he put himself at risk - it would appear that this was something that me and my husband had to talk about when we were alone.

It was decided that Rosalie, Emmett, Alice and Jasper would patrol with the wolves this evening as the rest of us returned back to our homes. I thought that we would have gone back with Esme and Carlisle but Edward announced that he wanted some family time with me and Renesmee - with Carlisle and Esme accepted.

As we walked back to the cottage I sensed that Renesmee was very tense at the fact that Jacob had gone back with the pack. I knew that she was now going to be worried about him all night; but Jacob felt that as he was pack leader he needed to take responsibility. He wanted to make Forks safe again, for the packs, our family but most of all for Renesmee.

Me and Edward tried to reassure her, but it was to no avail; she quickly took herself to bed. Stating that the sooner she went to sleep the sooner it would be morning and Jacob would be back from his patrols; I offered to stay with her but she also declined this. She said that even though she didn't think that she was going to get a lot of sleep she wanted to be on her own right now. I appreciated this I really did; and as her bedroom door closed behind her I noted how mature my little girl was; and how much I was proud of the woman that she was becoming.
