"You were never going to win, you know."
"What!?"
"You are my opposite, but not my equal. The idea that good and evil are equal and opposite forces is an illusion. No matter how powerful evil is, good will always be more powerful, because evil is only the absence of good. It does not exist on its own."
"But… but you said that evil would exist until the end of time—"
"Yes, I did. And it will. But is has not existed since the beginning of time. Its potential has, true— whenever and wherever something exists, the potential for its lack of existence also exists— but it did not come into being until sapients rejected the good and embraced its absence. Even evil itself knows this. Isn't that right?"
"I may not have existed from the beginning of time, but neither have you!"
"True. But unlike you, I will exist, even if it is not in this form, long after time has ended. When the sun comes to rest overhead, the shadow disappears, but that which casts it does not. Evil is like a shadow. It is the absence of light. That which casts it can wipe it out, but the shadow cannot wipe out that which casts it."
