Queen Sarah was fanning herself as she took a sip of her wine in the courtyard, chatting among some of the nobles at Court. Lady Holbrook was introducing her daughters, Lydia and Kitty, music and dancing was the entertainment as King Henry was busy with his hunting party. She greatly enjoyed being outdoors with her precious pet Truffles.
"Oh how beautiful names and lovely girls they are." Sarah nodded sipping her wine, a servant came, bowed to her and whispered in her ear, "Will you please excuse me, Truffles needs a little exercise." She bowed and left out of the courtyard. Once she was out of view from everyone but the guards, she quickened her pace down the velvet carpet of the castle.
She held Truffles as she came towards the King's Private rooms where two attendants stood. She stood there for a moment, waiting for the Guards to open the door.
"I'm sorry Your Grace, but no one can-"
"Ahem." That was the only sound you needed to make for the attendants looked nervously at each other, both wondering at the same time, who's wrath was much more scarier, "AHEM!"
The Queen's wrath was much more scarier.
They opened the door for her and she walked in to see Butch at the King's desk with the Chancellor and his secretary. Chancellor Grey was an elderly man but he was a brilliant advisor for the Kingdom. He advised King Henry's Father, King Henry and now Butch and his Secretary Crumbs was a young intelligent lawyer in the making.
"I want this pushed now. A royal decree. Make a copy and announce all through Asheia."
"Your Highness, without his Royal Majesty's seal-" Chancellor Grey was interrupted by an uncharacteristically impatient Crown Prince who had this glare on his face.
"You mean this Royal Seal?" He placed it on the desk, "We went over this plan for months. I don't want to wait any moment longer." He placed the seal in red wet wax and placed it onto the Royal Decree.
"Magic will be allowed for the lower class...openly."
"That would be very good relief." She simply said.
"Your Highness, I know you are quite busy but..." Grey held his hand out for Crumbs to give him a scroll, "The Royal Council believe it is best to execute the traitors."
"Traitors?" Butch looked at them confused then he looked at the scroll himself.
"If his Highness remembers, a while again, there was a coup or the making of one. Men being trained as warriors to overthrow his highness and his family."
"Release them." He just snapped.
"Your Highness?"
"I said...release them. There was and still no proof. If I remember correctly, one of them claimed that he was just trying to make more money for his family which Bardock confirmed himself.
"Well, the law-" Grey looked very nervous by Butch's dark glare.
"Well that part of the law needs to be revised. We already have blood on our hands. Sir Bardock told me of the Poor Shopkeeper you readily executed and his children you have made orphans. From now on, any executions orders will be throughly investigated with a fine tooth comb."
"Of course." Grey bowed his head.
"Let me make this clear, Chancellor. I would very much like to work with you. You served my father and Grandfather well...but things will have to change. We shall share the burden of ruling. No one will give any executive orders without the royal seal and no one can get the royal seal without my permission, clear?"
"Yes of course." Grey seemed conflicted, he was upset that he was losing power but thrilled about losing some of the burden as well, "I Look very forward to working with your Majesty."
"Crumbs, as I requested." Butch said. Crumbs nodded and let in a few servants carrying a pile of royal documents and placing them on the desk.
She nodded her head at Grey and Crumbs, they bowed their heads and quietly left, "Way to go Son. I have to say that Grey was getting a little too big in the beeches. I always told your father."
"But he looks tired as well. It's Secretary Crumbs who requested this. Chancellor Grey is exhausted, poor man is pushing 70s. It's time the Royals share some of the exhaustion." Butch looked at the top of the sheet, "Ah...this is on the prisioners of that...coup. They shall be given a royal pardon of course."
"Butch, I'm glad you're taking this seriously but don't you want to talk about the party-"
"Talk about opening Trade with Lunaria again. Excellent idea, their ores are very valuable. " He quickly interrupted as he looked at a map, "We should open trade with Flora again. I think I should bring the Ambassador of Lunaria and Flora here."
"We already have a pretty decent trade with Flora. Lunaria could use a little work." She looked at him, "Not to mention...both have Princesses." She sat in a chair in front of him.
Butch cleared his throat, "Oh yes...there is that? Marriage is the best way to have an alliance, isn't it?"
"Butch, dear...I hope you're not thinking of...marriage so soon after-."
Butch stood up, grabbing a large book and slamming it on the table, "Why not? The faster I can get this out of the way, the better. Already those pigeons are swooning around me. Forget a Princess...like you said, we have good trade with Flora. Perhaps a noble in Flora, I got the rings from there, so why not?"
The Queen looked at her stepson as he seemed, hype. She shook her head as she knew what was going on.
"Butch, aren't we going to talk about..what happened at the party? I think we should-"
"Mother, with all due respect, I think it's better to move on from this." He quickly said.
"And your brothers' brides-"
"Wish nothing but luck for them." He quickly snapped with a wide smile that made her feel so cold and taken back, "At least Boomer has a Bride that loves him. Beast has a Bride that seems like a blast from what I hear and Brick..."Butch gave a light chortled.
He continued flipping through the pages, "Look at this, there are a lot of nobles in Flora too. I hear there's one that's richer than the Royal Family of Flora too. Money is always a good reason to marry." He had this sarcastic air in the matter of his tone, he looked at the list of Flora's nobles and saw...La Quell. He paused as touching the name, he had a weird longing look but he quickly snapped out of it when The Queen slammed the book.
Butch wasn't the calm reserved boy that she knew, he was all over the place. She couldn't even remember how they got from opening trades to the Nobles of Flora.
"Butch, my dear boy, please don't do anything foolish. You need to talk about this. I'm glad you're out of bed and working but Isee you're not well either." She said, "A broken heart can really affect judgement and emotions as well-"
"I'm not broken hearted alright. I'm fine..." He paused, swallowing hard and then continued "I have a lot of work to do and I rather do that."
She sighed, leaving the room.
"Get the hell off of me!" Brick yelled enraged.
"No way, not until we have a date for the wedding." She laughed, not caring that everyone else was talking and laughing at them.
"Oh how precious are they?" Sarah laughed but then she frowned as she was in serious thought.
"Something about that night seem off." She thought to herself.
In Flora
A large stone castle covered in moss and ivy on its walls grew.
"I'M NOT GOING AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!" A loud screamed echoed throughout the hallways. Maids stood huddling in the corner of a large room as a vase was threw across the room and shattered into pieces.
"YOU JUST BROKE AN LUNARIAN MOON VASE! HAVE YOU NO HEART!" A male voice screamed as loudly as hers.
"I'LL BROKE A LOT MORE IF YOU DON'T BACK OFF!YA CAN'T MAKE ME! I AIN'T GOING!?" A female with medium spiky black hair and emerald green eyes, she grabbed the chest filled with clothes and threw it out the window.
"Bonnie!" The man winced in despair and she picked out another lunarian ore vase and threw it out the wall but this time he caught it, "Young Lady, you will do as you're told."
She threw her jewelry box at him, he ducked.
"That does it, you will get no dinner tonight!" The man yelled, trying to be brave against his raging teenage daughter, who's legendary temper was enough to make any man quake in fear, even Fauna beast men were terrified of her.
"Fine then." The girl sat on her bed with her arms crossed and turned around in a huff. Her wings fluttered and gleamed red, reflecting her mood. She was breathing heavily.
The man sighed, feeling a little guilty, "Bonnie, sweet pea, precious flower of my life. Please try to understand-"
"Understand! Understand what! You want to spilt us apart by SENDING ME AWAY!" She screamed in full rage mood again, "AT LEAST COME UP WITH AN ORIGINAL IDEA!"
Her Florian Venus Fly trap snapped at the man responding to its owner's fury, he winced in pure fear. The woman waved her fingers, green sparkles came out and the plant calm down.
The man huffed, poking out his chest, "N-N-Now listen here, Bon Bon. We are your parents, you are to obey us-Eek!" The father squeaked as his daughter threw a figurine at him, the Mother caught it.
"Really, Bonnie...this is a priceless family heirloom. You are being unreasonable. A peasant boy...really?"
"He's not a peasant...he's a lord."
"Barely, don't you see. He's the bastard son of a Lord. Bonnie-" Her mother who had an equally temper flew up to look her daughter directly in the eyes.
"I DON'T CARE! HE'S FUNNY! HE'S NICE! HE'S STRONG! AND HE LOVES ME! AND THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH! WE'RE RICH ENOUGH!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, then she glared at her parents, "And I won't give him up."
"But he has no prospects...nothing to recommend him." Her father came from behind his wife, "We are sending you to the Courts of Asheia and that's final."
She glared down at them, "If you two try and spilt us up...I'll run away...I'll never speak to you ever again...and I'll beat your guards black and blue." She was fighting back tears, pouting.
Her Father came up, "I'm sorry Bonnie, but as a La Quell, you must think about our house and your future. Asheia has suitable husbands, there is a Viscount even. In fact, I think we have some distant cousins that live there too."
"It's not fair. I won't go and you can't make me."
"Oh Sweet Pea, please don't run away from us. It would break our hearts. And we love you dearly." Her Father hugged his daughter, she calm down to his scent of lavender, "This is for the best. I want my girl to have the best and this Bard is not good enough for you-"
She started to feel sleepy, she noticed to let the sleeping aroma spell her father had placed on her, "But he is...he doesn't treat me like some...bank. If you guys just gave him...a chance..." She fell backwards onto her bed, sleeping peacefully.
"I didn't think that would work. She's just so precious when she's sleeping like that," Her Father said, he looked at the maids, "We must work quickly."
"Luckily her clothes are already outside." Her mother said, "I hope we are doing the right thing." Her mother said as they moved out of the maids' way.
"Of course we are. Bard might seem nice but he's just a money grubber charlatan and our daughter is too sweet and kind to see that. We have to protect her and the La Quell's fortune from such a person. Watch, she will go to the Asheian royal court and bring us back a husband in no time. Plus there Is that whole incident with that La Quell imposter. We must clear our name."
"You're right, but-"
"Darling, this is for the best. If Grandmother finds out...She will disown her like Cousin Marigold."
"Oh poor Cousin Marigold, I wonder how is she doing. I miss her so much sometimes. She really was the exception of La Quell beauty. Just like Bonnie."
Bonnie was moved soundly into the Carriage along with her companion/ chaperone, Gardenia.
