Chapter Nine: Broken Rules
Days turned into weeks and Bakugo started to get worried about Elvira and where she was. They left each other on a weird note and Bakugo couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. No matter how much he tried to get her to talk about it she didn't budge. Something did not feel right about her driving away like that. That day never sat well with Bakugo when he returned home. It's been awhile since she even messaged him back and it was making him more worried as the days went on. If it wasn't Elvira replying to her it was the unknown number harassing him constantly. He looked over at his text messages from the many unanswered messages from Elvira. Ignoring the flood of unknown text messages he had waiting to be read. He frowned to himself as he placed the phone down on his nightstand. Elvira wasn't responding to him and it's been weeks.
He groaned underneath his breath before he turned on his side on his bed. Something was definitely up but he knew she wasn't going to answer him until she was ready. That did not make Bakugo feel any better about the situation. What if she decides that she couldn't continue their relationship because of what happened? He bit the inside of his cheek as he held onto his pillow. Did he screw up that badly that she couldn't be honest with him? He groaned underneath his breath, finally a day off from work and he's sitting here moping.
God damnit.
If she wasn't going to answer me then I'm just going to silence my phone.
Bakugo turned off the volume of his phone before leaving it on his nightstand. There was no point wasting the few days he had off of work to be laying in bed feeling sorry for himself. He marched over to the kitchen to look at what he had in the fridge for dinner later. He rubbed his chin as he got an idea for food and he closed the fridge door. There was a sudden knock on the door and Bakugo looked over with a squint. He walked over to the door and opened it up to see Kirishima's smiling face.
"Aye, I heard you took a couple of days off to rest. I thought I'd drop by and hangout. I did send a text earlier but I don't think you saw it." Kirishima rubbed the back of his neck with a chuckle.
"Oh, yeah. I put my phone on silent. I've been getting weird messages from an unknown number for the past few weeks. I was tired of hearing my phone go off constantly." Bakugo rolled his eyes as Kirishima walked inside.
"Weird numbers? Like what?" Kirshima asked.
Bakugo let out a sigh. "Someone has been sending me nasty text messages about Elvira. I don't want to get into too much detail but I think I know how it is."
"Who?"
"I think it's Tamaki." Bakugo sighed.
Kirishima let out a laugh. "Tamaki? Suneater? Why would you think that?"
"Please keep this to yourself man. I don't want Elvira to know I told you this." Bakugo groaned underneath his breath.
"I swear I won't tell a soul. You know me better than that." Kirishima chuckled.
"Remember a few weeks ago when you were teasing me about getting a nude photo on my phone?" Bakugo rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yes, I do." he tilted his head for a moment. "It was from Elvira?"
Bakugo flustered a bit. "Y-yeah, she sent me a pretty raunchy photo and I got distracted when I said it. My phone slipped out of my hand and Tamaki saw it when he handed me back my phone. After that he was acting all weird during that patrol. I thought it was cause he's shy and shit but I felt the rising tension."
"That's really weird." Kirishima crossed his arms over his chest.
"Elvira invited me to a nightclub that night. I ran into Mirio and Tamaki there and it was really awkward. Later on during the nightclub he told her that she shouldn't send anything like that and it was shameful." Bakugo rolled his eyes. "The tension between them was so thick. I think he may have had a thing with her in the past"
"Wow, I never would have thought Tamaki would act out like that. He's always been such a quiet guy."
"It doesn't help that I kind of pissed him off at the nightclub after he did that to Elvira." Bakugo bit the inside of his lip. "I was being a possessive prick and made out with her in front of him."
"You are an asshole, dude." Kirishima chuckled.
"It's only a hunch but he's the only person I pissed off to do something like that."
Kirishima sat down on the couch. "Can I see the messages? Or did the person give out a lot of detail you don't want me to know?"
Fuck.
I can't tell Kiri too much about the relationship.
Elvira wouldn't like that.
"Elvira's and my relationship is a bit complicated." Bakugo sighed. "All the messages are just talking shit. It's a lot of information trying to make her look bad and to make me back off of her. It's fucked up in general."
"Ahh, I see." Kirishima nodded his head. "Strange that someone is trying to break you too apart. Have you told her about the texts?"
Bakugo bit his lip. "No, I haven't been able to. We haven't seen each other for a few weeks and she's been ignoring my messages."
"Do you think she's been busy with hero work with Midnight?" he raised an eyebrow at Bakugo.
"Maybe." he sighed to himself. "It's been a long time since she said anything to me."
"Do you want to talk about it? You look upset." Kirishma asked.
"Women are complicated creatures. Let's just say that Elvira is hard to understand because she keeps a wall up." Bakugo scratched the back of his head with a groan. "She's a dumbass sometimes."
"Sounds like you have a crush."
WHAT?!
Bakugo froze for a moment and turned to Kirishima. "Shut up! I don't have a crush. Her and I are adults. We... um..."
Why can't I find the words?
"Lighten up man. I'm only teasing you." Kirishima laughed.
Bakugo turned away from Kirishima with a sigh and walked into the kitchen. He just wanted to know if Elvira was alright. He couldn't help but worry about her because she was acting weird the last time. He bit the inside of his lip, wondering if he should check his phone again. It was tug of war inside of him, to send her another message or just ignore his phone completely. Maybe hanging out with Kirishima would keep his mind on other things. He didn't need to worry about it all night or he'll make Kirishima feel like shit for being here. He let out a sigh as turned on the sink water to wash his hands before opening up the fridge.
"What are you making for dinner?" Kirishima walked into the kitchen. "Do you need help with anything?
"Probably a pot as well for noodles. Can you get me the cutting boards? I need one for meat and another for vegetables." Bakugo asked as he sighed to himself.
"You got it."
Kirishima bent down to grab the cutting boards from the bottom cupboards and placed them down on the counter for Bakugo. He moved one of the cutting boards in front of him as Kirishima moved around him to help him more. Slowly Bakugo started to put up the chicken he was going to use for dinner. There was a sudden knock on the door and Bakugo looked up confused. He wasn't expecting anyone else to come over. Kirishima finally found the pot and set it on the stove before turning to Bakugo.
Bakugo shrugged. "Can you get the door for me? My hands are touching raw meat. I'm cutting shit over here."
"Sure thing! Leave the door to me." Kirishima walked out of the kitchen to head toward the door.
Bakugo continued to prepare the food for dinner as he heard Kirishima talking at the door. Once he was done cutting the meat he set it to the side in a covered bowl and washed his hands. He moved over to the fridge to pull out the vegetables he needed and shut the door. Elvira was staring at him as he closed the fridge door and his heart jumped in his chest at her sudden appearance. He stumbled back a bit as he clenched the vegetables to his body. She was wearing her white hair in a messy bun, yoga pants, and a pink hoodie. She wasn't in her usual sexy attire but she still looked cute to him. Bakugo took a deep breath as she smiled at him.
"Elvira? What are you doing here?" he breathed.
"You..." she glared at him. "I've been trying to get ahold of you all afternoon..."
Why does she look so freaked out?
Kirshima poked his head from around the corner. "She said she got worried that you didn't answer her calls so she came over right away. I told her you were just busy making food."
"I got really concerned because I didn't get a reply so I rushed down here." she looked flustered. "I feel stupid..."
"You've been calling me? I'm sorry. I left my phone on silent since I've been hanging out with Kiri." he let out a nervous chuckle. "Plus you haven't been answering any of my messages for weeks..."
"I...I've been really busy." she rubbed the back of her neck with a frown.
That expression.
"You could have at least let me know you were okay..." Bakugo mumbled underneath his breath as he took the vegetables to the sink to wash them off.
"I..." her voice was quiet. "I'm sorry."
She was being serious.
"Were you out doing hero work with Midnight?" Kirishima rubbed the top of Elvira's head. "I hear she keeps you pretty busy sometimes."
"Y-yeah, we've been busy with nightly patrols and some bigger assignments that have been really stressing me out. "I finally have a few days off for myself."
"So does Bakugo! He finally got a break after a while." Kirishima smiled.
"How long?" she glanced over at Bakugo.
He shrugged his shoulders. "I have the whole weekend off. I don't go back to work until Monday."
Elvira gave Bakugo a look before turning back to talk to Kirishima. He knew that look very well by now and he needed to talk to her. He shut off the water for a moment to get Kirishima's attention.
"Hey, Kiri can you finish washing these? I need to talk to her in private really quick." Bakugo placed the vegetables down on the counter next to the cutting board. "I'll come back and chop them after."
"No problem. I'll take care of it." Kirishima walked over to the sink. "Play nice you too."
Bakugo gently took Elvira's hand and led her out of the kitchen. He took her down the hallway to his bed room and closed the door behind him. They stood there for a moment until Bakugo went to open his mouth but she stopped him by placing a finger on his lips. She sat down on his bed and looked away from him. His hand gently pulled her chin to look back at him. She avoided eye contact but Bakugo quickly scooped her up to throw her over his shoulder. She let out a squeal before he gently threw her down on his bed. He climbed on top of her with a frown, wanting her to finally talk to him.
"We really need to talk, Elvira." Bakugo said softly.
"I...I know, Katsuki." she fidgeted with the cuffs of her hoodie nervously.
"I haven't heard from you in awhile." Bakugo looked down at her. "I was really worried about you, dumbass."
"I'm not the best person to talk about my feelings. I know I haven't been answering you but I guess I didn't know what to do. " she looked down sheepishly.
"I told you that I knew something was wrong that day. Why couldn't you just tell me?" He grabbed her hands.
"I don't know. My emotions are all over the place right now and I don't know how to handle myself." she laughed softly. "I'm a mess."
"Tell me what's on your mind and I will do the same, okay?"
"I wanted to talk about the day we woke up together. It's been on my mind for so long and I needed to talk to you" she smiled at him.
"I'm sorry if I did anything to offend you on that night." he frowned. "I know you keep telling me that you aren't angry but these past few weeks tell me differently. I've been worried you wanted to stop all this."
"W-what? No, I don't want to end it." she looked up desperately.
A wash of relief flowed through his body. "That's good."
She bit her lip as she looked up at him. "I...I don't know what I'm doing, Katsuki."
"Help me understand." he gently grabbed her face.
Elvira held onto his hands. "W-waking up to you that morning actually made me really happy. I just don't know how to process my emotions sometimes. I shut down because I'm trying to figure out what to do. I guess that's why it took me so long to contact you."
"Look, I'm always here for you and I don't want you to feel like you can't talk to me." Bakugo looked away with a sigh. "I know the agreement we made in the beginning but I feel like we should be able to be open towards one another. I can't help it if I like you enough to make sure you are comfortable."
"Like me?" she looked at him flustered.
Shit.
Wrong choice of words.
Bakugo's jaw clenched. "I... I'm not saying that I'm in love with you so don't get all worked up, dumbass. I just enjoy spending time with you."
"I'm willing to bend some rules for you." she looked away from him. "I just felt really comfortable in your arms while I slept. It was really nice waking up to someone. Maybe it will be nice to wake up to you every once in a while."
"Does that mean you are willing to open up to me more?" he asked as he wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his head on her lap.
"I don't know what the future holds but I want to at least try. I...I can't promise anything." she caressed his head as she sat up.
Bakugo looked up at her with a big smile. "I'm happy to hear that. As long as you are willing to do that for me it means a lot."
"I won't do this for just anyone, okay?" she whispered.
"Of course not, dumbass." he rolled his eyes with a chuckle.
"Can I kiss you?" she whispered.
Bakugo moved up to grab onto her face. He kissed her lips softly and sweetly as she kissed him back. Her fingers gently tugged on his hair and he growled against her lips. He missed the taste of her lips, it's been far too long since he had them. He quickly pulled her hoodie off her body and she was wearing a tight black tank top. His lips moved down to her neck as she squirmed underneath him. His fingers pulled on the ends of her top but she quickly pushed against his chest with her hands.
He looked at her out of breath, "What's wrong?"
"Katsuki, you have company over." she flustered.
"S-so?" he breathed as he leaned over to kiss her neck again.
"W-wait, we can't do this when you have someone over." she gasped. "You know if we do anything we are loud sometimes. We can't do that to Kiri."
Dammit Kiri...
He sighed as he pressed his face between her breasts. "Damn it."
She placed her hand on the back of his head. "You should get back to the kitchen to help, Kiri."
"I just want to be with you though." he mumbled against her breasts. "Are you going to stay for dinner?"
"I don't want to intrude on your time with your friend." she smiled at him. "I should go."
"But..." Bakugo lifted his head to look at her. "I finally get to see you after weeks and you are going to leave? That kind of sucks."
"I know but I'll make it up to you. I promise."
"You said that last time." he mumbled.
Bakugo gently got off of her body and handed her back her hoodie from the floor. She took it from him to put it back on with a smile. He gently pulled her back into his arms to give her another passionate kiss before pulling away. Her hand grabbed onto his wrist before he opened the door. He looked back at her and her face was blushing a deep shade of red.
I haven't seen her this shy since high school.
"Elvira?"
It's cute.
"D-do you want to stay at my place for the weekend?" she spoke softly. "If you don't mind. I want to make it up to you for being so distant."
"You know I could never refuse that offer." he smirked at her. "I'll do anything you want tonight."
"Anything?" she raised an eyebrow.
Bakugo looked away with a flustered smirk. "Y-yeah, anything for you."
That's when that sexy smirk came on her face. His heart raced as he looked at her and he was concerned on what was going on in her head. She pulled down his face to her lips for one final kiss and she pulled away to whisper into his ear.
"Don't be too late, sweet face. I'll leave the door unlocked for you."
