Chapter 10: I Was Made For Lovin' You
Currently, it's now 7 PM, the agreed time the boys & girls settled on, and Ed, Edd and Eddy were already on their way to the Kanker's trailer. Double D was informed by Chris over the phone that he will be slightly late due to a "very important situation", but he will be sure to arrive nonetheless. Either way, while en route, Ed is rehearsing the lyrics he plans to use to confess himself to May; repeating the lines over and over to ensure that he doesn't slip up. Double D gave his friend a small smile, while Eddy chuckled a bit at the rehearsing, but nonetheless respected his dedication.
The boys had settled on the usual former attire; Ed wearing a double-buttoned white shirt, with black jeans accompanied by both a black belt and black shoes & socks. Double D wore a similar set of attire; difference being that the white shirt was below a tuxedo jacket, and on the neck area, had a tie right below his chin. Finally, with Eddy, he had decided to wear a one-button cyan shirt, along with navy blue jeans accompanied by a brown belt and grey shoes & white socks.
After a couple minutes of walking, the Eds had now arrived, only around 5 minutes late, but it was nothing to worry about. Ed pauses his rehearsing, and gets ready for what he considers his big moment, as Eddy applies a bit more deodorant to himself, and Double D lightly knocks on the door five times.
Marie answers the door, and tells the boys, "Well, look who arrived!"
Ed and Eddy make their way inside, while Double D, anticipating it, gives Marie a kiss that she happily returns. After a couple seconds, they break it, and Double D admires the rather attractive look of Marie's face, telling her, "I must say Marie, you are looking rather impeccable!"
"Thanks muffin, all credit goes to Skylar, who is upstairs helping May out with some stuff." responded Marie with a smirk.
"Well, she certainly has a gift for makeovers!" said Double D.
The two of them take a seat at the kitchen table, where the boxes of pizza that Lee ordered earlier were stacked on top of one another, none of them being opened yet; the girls deciding to wait for their respective companions to arrive. Ed and Eddy also took one of the eight seats once they entered in. Marie quickly ran to the bottom of the stairs and shouted towards the girls upstairs, "HEY! The boys have arrived!"
The three girl upstairs say a variation of "Alright!", and Marie returns to her respective seat, and whispers to Double D, "Wait until you see what May has in store."
Curious, Double D whispers back, "Have you taken a look into it?"
Marie nods her head as to say no, which only makes Double D more curious as to the endless possibilities of what May has planned for Ed. It should be a sight to behold nonetheless.
The group of four are then joined by Lee, who had changed out of her usual attire into a long-sleeved white shirt, light blue jeans, and white shoes; deciding to not go overkill with her appearance, as the entire hangout seemed more casual from her perspective. Regardless, Eddy waves at her, as she takes a seat next to him, and smiles back at him.
"So, you boys get here well?" asked Lee.
The Eds nod their head in approval, in which Eddy then says, "Yeah, it's not far anyway, you can just jump over Ed's backyard and you're here like in a flash!"
Lee smirks a bit, then says, "Good to hear my little man."
She then proceeds to give Eddy a kiss on the cheek, making him emit a small red hue around his face. Double D, out of curiosity, asks, "Where might the other two guests be?"
"Right here!" yelled out Skylar, joining the group, wearing a long sleeve v-neck buttoned up grey shirt, black pants secured by a black belt, shiny black shoes with a small heel accompanied by white socks, and red lipstick to boot. Skylar takes a seat next to Marie, and notices Chris's absence.
"Hmm... so where's Chris at?" asked Skylar.
"I'm afraid he had, as he worded it to me, a very important matter to resolve." explains Double D, "Not to worry, he reassured he'd still arrive momentarily, we just need to be patient."
Eddy throws his quarter into the mix, saying, "I'm guessing he had to organize how Kenji would get home. Give the guy a break Skylar, it's not like he's doing something stupid."
"Oh, he best hope not, haha." said Skylar. "But then again, he ain't a mug from what I've seen, so it'll be fine."
Skylar then tells the crew, "Ah yeah, May shall be heading down here in a bit."
Once she says that, May begins walking down the stairs, and everyone (with the exception of Skylar) recognizes her entire appearance as the same one she had when she and her sisters did the "marriage" with the Eds; two light blue bows on the left and rights sides of her hair, a light blue strap on his waist holding the pink dress in place more securely, white socks that reach just below her knees, and lastly brown shoes in a tied up fashion. However, the appearance doesn't end with attire, as thanks to Skylar, May had a more noticeable polished, fresh look to her face.
From Ed's perspective, it's hard to believe that not very long ago, May was someone that he would literally do anything to get away from; run through sewage, fight through unpronounceable beasts, you name it, he'd originally do whatever it takes. Now, an understatement it is, to say that things have changed, as the tallest of the Eds prepares to ask the youngest of the Kankers to be his significant other.
May waves to say hello to her friends, as she takes a seat next to Ed, and telling him, "Hi Ed, how are ya?"
"Good, umm..." said Ed, pausing to think of a good word to compliment May. "You are very gorgeous tonight, I must say!"
"Thanks, you look handsome yourself." responded May, laughing a bit to hide her nervousness.
Marie then says, "Well, since we're missing just ONE person, so shall we start eating now?"
"Affirmative, but before we do so, might I get the chance to call Chris to reconfirm his status?" asked Double D, in which he receives a thumbs up from Marie.
He then begins to scroll through his contacts, finding Chris's info, and hitting call, and now he waits for a response. After around 10 seconds, he only hears a voice saying, "Hey it's Chris, if you're hearing this it means I didn't get to answer you, or another reason of the sort! Not to fret! Leave a message after said beep man!"
The voice recording of Chris then makes an imitation of a beeping noise, before then the actual beep occurs. Double D laughs a bit at the imitation, before then hanging up, and retrying the call again, but unfortunately no luck.
"Double D, let me give it a shot." said Skylar, pulling her phone out to contact Chris herself.
Usually, third time's the charm. Not this time, as Skylar's results are the exact same, which gets her slightly suspicious, checking the time, 7:20 PM.
"Maybe I should pay him a visit, to see what the bloody hell he's doing?" said Skylar, with a hint of grit in her voice.
However, as soon as Skylar said that, knocking is heard at the door. Everyone in the trailer knows that the pizza has arrived, so there is no chance that this person isn't Chris, right? Well, Marie goes on over to investigate, turns the knob, and sees someone that she doesn't recognize in the slightest; a guy with two black lines on each of his cheeks, poorly placed eyeliner, hair that appeared to be a wig, which also was messy, large, and went down to his chest, a tight leather jacket, one wristband on each arm with spikes on them, a belt with several markings on it holding leather pants that appeared tight, and lastly black glossy boots.
"Who the hell are you?" asked Marie, demanding an explanation.
"What, am I no longer invited?" responded the guy, making Marie adopt an expression of confusion.
The other people present take a look at the guy, and don't recognize him either; Eddy laughing heavily at his appearance, Skylar chuckling slightly, Double D, Ed and May adopting an expression of wonder, and Lee, who begins walking over, threateningly, and say, "Get out of here, and the 80s were 40 years ago!"
"Well, it doesn't die as long as you love it!" responded the guy, annoying the two Kankers.
The guy then laughs before saying, "Okay, guys it's me, Chris! You didn't recognize my voice?"
Everyone takes a glance of each other, then back at Chris, laughing at his little stunt, except Skylar and Double D, the latter of which chuckles a slight bit, but the former begins stomping quite loudly towards his general direction.
"What is the meaning of this?!" demanded Skylar.
"Aw come on! What's wrong with my kickass wear?!" said Chris, making everyone else laugh minus Skylar, making her sigh in the process.
Chris then goes up to her and gives her a hug, in which she returns, begrudgingly so. Once they break it, ultimately, she takes a look at him, and gives a bit of laughter herself.
"Alright, you're pretty funny love, but one problem." said Skylar, "You realize that you're gonna need another half-an-hour to fix this... my god..."
"Okay, 30 minutes please!" said Chris, before then pulling out a smoke bomb from his pockets, and slamming onto the ground, making him disappear.
At this point, Skylar slaps her forehead, finding this unbelievably embarrassing, yet deep down, she finds it pretty hilarious. However, 3 seconds later, Chris re-emerges from another cloud of smoke, and appears 100% different than previously; his hair being reverted back to his actual hair, and in it's normal style, long and loose, down to his shoulders. He also got rid of that odd black makeup on his face, and changed into a T-shirt of Ozzy Osbourne, accompanied by a unbuttoned black sleeveless vest, grey jeans with a normal black belt securing it, and black shoes.
Everyone's face is one of utter surprise and confusion, unsure as to how he managed to change himself in literally seconds. Chris breaks the silence, saying, "Power of smoke bombs my friends, haha."
While everyone laughs a bit at that statement, he turns to Skylar and says, "So madam, this a better fit?"
"Quit being all fancy, haha." said Skylar, giving a playful punch to his arm. "But yes, you look much better, and not like the bloody long lost member of Motley Crue or some crap."
"Is that stunt seriously what you've been spending valuable time planning?" asked Double D, somewhat disappointed.
"No, I was also ensuring Kenji got home. While we waited however, I got the idea to do that stunt, and surprisingly, he joined in to assist." responded Chris.
Skylar then asks, "Why did you even bother with it? You know that your delaying was a bit of concern, right darling?"
"Relax man, it's nothing to worry about." says Chris, "Besides, I wanted to make you laugh. End of story, haha."
In response, Skylar gives a quick kiss, and says, "Well, you did."
The two gives each other a smile, but then Lee says, "Save it for when you two are alone! It's time to eat now!"
Everyone then proceeds to congregate to the kitchen, where they each take two or so slices from the pizzas available, along with a glass of soda or water to boot, and take a seat next to their fellow partners, and everyone converses about a variety of different topics, from the sisters telling everyone how they got the money for the pizzas, the boys explaining what they were doing after the big fight sparring match between Chris and Kenji, and it goes on.
Once the time hits 8 PM, Ed begins to wonder when he should execute his plan to ask May the important question, as time is very limited as to the chances he has to ask it.
Eventually, he decides that delaying it makes no more sense anymore, and tells May, "May!"
Everyone including May herself turn toward Ed, wondering if it's actually about to happen, so to say.
"Yea Ed?" responded May.
Ed gets up from his chair, goes down on one knee, and tells May, in his best singing voice, "Oh, you're love of my life, the best that I ever had, I've been with you such a long time, You're my sunshine and I want you to know, That my feelings are true, I really love you, will you be my girlfriend?"
May can tell that Ed obviously borrowed those lines from a song, but to say that she doesn't care is a extraordinarily large understatement; her eyes tearing up a bit, and feeling as though someone hit her directly with an arrow of a cupid. Familiar, ain't it? Regardless, she runs up to him and gives him a rather notably tight hug, and says, loudly, "YES!"
Ed returns the hug in appreciation, but afterwards May moves herself back a bit... and gives him a kiss, which he happily returns aswell. Everyone else present are currently congratulating the new couple; Double D and Marie clapping, Eddy and Lee whistling in a supportive manner, & Chris and Skylar throwing a metal horns in support.
After 5 seconds, Ed and May break the kiss; the former having a smile on his face, and the latter looking as if she was in a daze. To break the silence, Ed says, "Thanks guys!"
"Attaboy lumpy!" says Eddy, "I knew you had it in ya!"
Ed and May take their seats once more, and Double D says, "Bravo Ed! I wish you and May nothing but the best for each other in your time together!"
"Same here!" said Marie, congratulating her sister.
"Just make sure you two aren't too intimate, heheh!" commented Lee, embarrassing May, but still proud of her little sister nonetheless.
"Calm yourself, would ya?" said Skylar, "But really, congrats you two, as Double D put it already, wish you the best!"
"You also have my support you two!, Whoo!" stated Chris, still raising his hand in the air in support.
Ed and May shot each other a smile, before the latter rests her head on the former's right shoulder, ultimately happy with one another.
