Hope Van Dyne cursed to herself over her breath. Just when she finally was able get out of that swarm of imp bots. She ended up running into Peter's friends, Ned Leads, Betty and Jason. So for the sake of their safety, had to drag them with her to the camera security room in hopes of calling in back up.
But unfortunately when she entered the room and saw the security footage she gave off a despairing moan.
The Avengers were losing...badly.
Mysterio trapped Hulk with one of his illusions and buried him within the access tunnels and the remains of the central building. The falcon was ducking in and out of the air for dear life as he tied to narrowly avoid the cars the vulture was throwing at him at super sonic speed. Rhody one of the most experienced members and the leader of the team was getting his armor melted and torn apart in his battle With scorpion. While the rest of the Heavy hitters and new recruits were still being swarm by the imp bots. Along top them being busy in protecting a panicking crowd of people.
'Oh geez" Ned muttered fearfully under his breath as he continued to look over the footage. ' I do not like seeing our worlds protectors getting cream'
Hope was about to make a comment to make Ned shut up. Until an idea came to her head.
' Hey kid? Peter said that you have access to E.D.I.T.H right?' She question while Ned nodded slowly.
'Well there is an access hub in here that should get you to her. Mind doing that for me?' Van instructed as she gestured to the monitor.
'Right' Ned said quickly while running over the computer and begin typing on the keyboard to get access to the hub and when he did the screen of the computer change to a back and white logo of the A.I. Causing Ned to smile in joy along with Van. Because she knew that ever since the event in New York the Wireless connection at this base was reworked from the ground up. Just to make much harder to block hackings even from outside interference.
Then without warning the screen suddenly cracked and short circuit with a knife stabbed right in the middle of it.
However to Ned and everyone else it wasn't the fact that the knife was thrown into the screen or even when someone teleported to it. No to them the screen was intact in one moment and next as if like a gap in a film strip. The monitor was shattered and embed with the blade. Yet when Leeds saw the one holding it. He nearly wet himself in fright.
The assaulter wore a black jump suit with a dark yellow belt striped over on the right side of his chest, that was connected to a gun holstered on his hip. While his face was hidden behind by a blank white helmet. Aside from his dark brown eyes that reflected the cold reflection of a killer with no mercy.
Ned, Jason, Betty and MJ backed away in terror. However Van while spooked herself kept her cool upon facing the man.
She then fire on of her stingers at the intruder and destroying the computer . Yet he dodge the blast with speed and ability that can only be described as super-human. With Van growling in frustration.
'Get the hell out of her!' She scream at the trio who immediately ran to the door and out into the hallway.
'Okay, now we have a guy that can pop himself out of nowhere along with all the other crazies costume goons coming after us I swear if anoth-' Jason cried Betty slap him.
'Jinx us and I will sware I will kill you myself!'
'Oh come Bet just let me vent for once! I mean seriously you act like me saying something like that is going to the make the wall burst op-!'
The wall in from of the three burst open to see the Winter Solider Bucky Barnes on the ground groaning in pain and out from the wall came the Shocker dressed in his gold and brown armored body suit that covered him head toe. While wearing a mask that had eyes that glowed of amber light and energy.
He then turn his head and glance directly at the trio. Which then resulted in both of them staring at each other for a few moments before the criminal rolled his eyes in annoyance.
'Well do you want to stay and get yourself killed or get your ass's out of here?' The criminal ask mockingly. As he then pointed his thumb to the hallway behind him and after a few moments the three friends ran past him.
'We'll see I told that-' Jason tried to boast but Ned was not having it.
'Dude just shut up!' Leeds growled impatiently and Jason for once listen.
Once Peter's friends were gone. The Shocker then turn towards the fallen solider only to see him gone and the next thing he knew he was slugged in the face by the super-solder's vibranium metal arm that knocked Herman to the ground. But lucky for the crook his suit absorbed most the impact and then before the Winter Soldier could press his advantage The Shocker made a to quick recovery and blasted the solider with another shock wave. Sending him tumbling across the floor.
'You know at first I thought it was crazy trying to take on Bucky Barnes the all so dreaded hydra assassin who stood to to toe with Captain America. But it turns out once one has the right equipment even the dreaded becomes trivial to handle.'
The solider then pick himself off from the floor. 'Don't you think you are getting a bit cocky?' He humored but Herman shrugged. 'Let's just say I was expecting more of a challenge. Which does a lot more favors for me then you!'
The Shocker then aimed his Gauntlet at Bucky who then used his super-human speed to rolled to dodge the shock blast and within the same movement pulled out a hand gun from his belt and fired at his enemy. But the criminal's body armor was completely bullet proof as the projectiles from the fire arm bounce harmlessly off him and even when Bucky throw a grenade from his belt at him. All it did was push the Shocker back a bit before the latter continued his assault and with those twin power gauntlets of his disposal. Preventing Bucky from closing in on him.
Barnes However then took one glancing look at the hallway behind his enemy and saw that Van was not doing any better with hers.
The Chameleon whenever be some form of tech or meta ability. Was able to blink in and out of existence whenever the Wasp tried to shirk down her size to outmaneuver and overpower him. Which resulted her being swatted down or nearly cut in two by one his trench knives and whenever she tried to fight the blank helmet assassin head on at her normal size. The chameleon proved to be her utter superior in combat. With skill and discipline surpassing even Bucky's own fighting prowess .
It was obvious to both of the Avenges. That if something wasn't done soon they will eventually get killed by their opponents. So Van then looked directly at Bucky and the latter directly at her and without even needing words they already formulated a the plan.
In a almost simultaneous motion The Shocker readied his blaster at the Winter Solider while the Chameleon readied his knife to cut down The Wasp.
And then the switch happen.
Bucky ducked under the blast and then move forward to block the chameleon knife with his arm. Causing the blade to break upon impact. While Van maneuvered around the electric blast and flew directly towards the Shocker's face. Knocking him back with her condense strength and sending flying him over several feet over the hallway.
The Shocker and The Chameleon then look at their opponents with dread while both Van and Bucky stared down at their adversaries ready to continue the fight.
But much to their surprise they retreated.
Chameleon by blinking himself out of existence and Shocker by using a low powered blast on the ground to create an explosion to cover his tracks.
Leaving the two heroes bewildered, confused and concern.
Meanwhile back at the parking lot.
Toomes then sighed in content. As he was still luging cars at the falcon and still stands unable to land even a lucky shot at the avenger. But even so the leader of the insidious didn't mind it too much. So long as he and his men pressed their advantage. They can hold their own over all the avengers and Thompson had time to complete his mission.
However that mood soon turn sour when he receive a call in his intercom.
'Toomes the Avengers are on to us. Me and Dimtri got our targets switched in mid fight' Herman reported urgently over the intercom. While The Vulture merely sighed.
'Well I figured our luck would run out eventually' he muttered bitterly as he continued to throw cars at falcon. Before using the tech in his helmet mentally switch commutations. 'Beck our hand is overplayed. Retreat and enact the final stage'
Adrain ordered to not such the androids at the battle site. But rather the real Quentin Beck who was over looking the entire battle site through his fish bowel helmet, his laptop and from his own personal base and crew that was located and cloaked from unwanted eyes from atop a small hill that stood over the Avengers Facility. He watched over the live footage from in drones in delight upon seeing his imp bots overwhelming and surrounding Gravity, Scarlet Witch and Shang Chi and merely rolled his eyes at Beck's call.
'Overplayed my ass. I have already taken down The Hulk and the rest of the new recruits will soon join him. I'm not retreating until at least one one more of these show stealing heroes are dead!' Beck yelled and Toomes growled in frustration.
'That was not part of the plan! The plan was to merely to distract the Avengers not beat them. So cut down on your own dick riding ego and fall back!' Toomes yelled in his intercom. But Beck just sneered.
'I AM NOT LEAVNG UNTIL ONE OF THESE SUPER POWERED FREAKS ARE DEAD' Beck scream in rage.
BECK!' Adrain yelled back but Quentin shut off the intercom in his impatience.
'What good are you as a villain if you don't kill a few of heroes?' He said with contempt as he then type in more commands his laptop to direct all of his mysterio androids to the site of the three surrounded heroes. Ready to gun them down all at once with his lasers and the imps at the same time.
An action that did not go unnoticed by Wanda as she cussed in dread. But lucky for her and the teammates she had a plan.
'Gravity just as we practice use your powers to create a singularity' she ordered while the new recruit gawk at her in response.
'Uhh are you sure I still haven't fully mastered it yet!' Gravity complain but Wanda gave him a grim look.
'If the rest of us are to survive you must and I will help.' Wander ordered sternly and Gravity despite being extremely Nervous.
'Singularity it is then…' the hero muttered uneasily as he then raised both of his hands and began to compressed the gravity a couple of feet above him into a mini black hole less then the size of an atom and yet with the density of a mountain. Begin to form and by using all of his concentration controlled the gravity of the hole to affect only the imp drones and soon all them were pulled into the singularity and swirled around it. Though due to fear of losing control. Gravity prevent them to be suck in by it.
Upon seeing this Beck then had his drones move faster. But by then Wanda already made her move.
The scarlet witch used her telekinetic powers to create red energy force field that surrounded the singularity and the that were drones pulled in it. Before hurling it upward to the sky before causing it to detonate in a massive explosion. Which also had the affect of destroying some of holographic drones that projecting the dark clouds and the green mist that covered the faculty causing them to glitched out.
Beck then fume in rage and frustration that all his imps and his sky drones destroyed. But figured that since he still had a dozen mysterio drones left with his hologram tech and could just kind screw with them like the Hulk.
Until five of them had kunei suddenly stabbed into their misty skulls. Shutting them down dead. Mysterio then immediately looked in bafflement at the one who through them.
Chang Shang Chi who who had several more knives in his hand at the ready.
Growling in further frustration as he then directed all of the remaining seven of his androids to surround and aim their energy blasters at him to blast apart the martial artist wishing to him reduce to smoldering chunks of flesh.
Only for him to hear a massive explosion coming from behind. As pieces of the main building were sent flying into the air and smashing all the androids until only one of them remain and as Mysterio looked over the dust cloud, he could a very big and very angry green giant staring right at him.
And to add further to the humiliation. Toomes then made another call to Beck. 'Are done having your tantrum? if so. Commence the final stage of the operation!'
Beck upon now seeing from his laptop that all his tech was destroyed and his lone android surround all sides by enemies. Finally saw his situation as a lost cause. But not before giving one final pout before turning towards to his assistant.
'Alright the shows over. Set up the final stage.' He muttered coolly and the assistant complied by typing in commands from his own personal computer, that controlled the rest drones above the sky and created the holographic mist and dark clouds. A second later all the drones immediately stop in mid air. Before suddenly condensing themselves into metal spears and radiating a massive form of yellowish plasma energy.
From across the battlefield the rest of the , such as Scorpion was still fighting War Machine. Who was now missing a metal arm and half of his helmet that had also been melted off. Received an order from his intercom of the last stage of his teams operation.
Mac then clicked his tongue in annoyance. Before quickly shrugging and began to make a retreat from the Avenger's leader. Who in turn had his remaining pulsar blaster at the ready. In a desperate admit shoot the villain down.
'Were the hell do you think you are going Gargan. If you are in a fight stay in and finish it!' Rhody called but Mac just gave smug smirked of pity.
'Oh, love to that Rhodes and I believe you know I would. Unfortunately, the boss gave us an order to bail and there is no point in arguing about it' the Crook then looked through the broken ceiling and into the open sky.
'But if I were you I think you should be more focused on what is coming next and branching yourself for that then handling little old me' Mac chuckled sadistically before leaping out through the broken ceiling and away from Rhodes. However In spit of himself in wanting to go after the Insect theme criminal Rhody couldn't help but take what the later said to heart. For When he did looked up at the sky and saw several flaming yellow dots numbering in the hundreds as the green mist and clouds from the sky suddenly disappeared.
Back on the top of the hill the rest of the Insidious gathered around Beck while watching over the Avenger's facility over-head. With Adrain standing over to Quintain.
'All right we are all here expect for the brat. Sure you want me to pull the trigger gracious leader and not just go to help him yourself?' Beck asked sarcastically. While Toomes grimly closed his eyes.
'Thomspon as the means to escape to the hub like the rest of us do and unlike you he knows when to bail out when he gets in trouble and with this last stunt, hopefully the Avengers will be busier saving themselves and what is left of the civilians to even think giving the wall crawler back up'
Beck sneered at the back-lash Adrain gave him but merely rolled his eye in annoyance. Before looking back at his screen.
'Whatever' he muttered harshly and then lifted his left figure. 'Operation crash down...'
He said as he paused for slight dramatic effect.
'Commence'
And then right after Quentin pressed the button on his laptop. The glowing drone spheres then began to fall to from the air and then rapidly begin to accelerate at beyound supersonic speeds to the ground below and like a raining shower of meteors, the drones crashed into facility with no mercy. While the remaining heroes and civilians tried desperately to find cover. Wanda and gravity combine their powers to create a force field to protect themselves, Shange Chi and one else that was close to them. Others like, Rhodey, Sam, Van, Ned, MJ, Jason Betty and Bucky ducked into the nearby walls and ceilings to give them cover from the onslaught.
Rest however weren't so lucky.
After a few minutes. All of the drones in the sky had fallen down and reduce the Facility, the stage and the very field itself into a burning scolding ruin. While screams of pain and horror echoed throughout the night sky. Yet for Toomes and the rest of his team they were impassive by it.
'Alright we have done all we can here. All we need to do now is wait for Thompson to pull through and we can confidently say that Norman's plan for against the Avenger is full blown success.' The Leader of the Insidious proclaim and then gestured the rest of the team and Beck's group to leave, pack up and fade away into the night.
Alright I believe that this is the last chapter of the year but more are soon to follow.
