Chapter 9:
When our trio went to say hi to Napstablook, he looked worried at first, but then perked up slightly when he saw me.
"oh... hi, human... are these some... friends?" Napstablook asked, me smirking at that.
"Yeah, this is Spike and this is Magenta. So what's this place?" I asked, Napstablook smirking at that.
"it's the blook family farm... we used to get a lot of customers... but that was before... well, before my bro became a star... now only one guy comes... pretty hairy, but nice," Napstablook said, me smirking at that.
"Sounds like you miss your bro a lot," I said, Napstablook nodding at that.
"yeah... but he's very popular right now... he sends letters all the time..." Napstablook said, me smirking at that.
"Maybe I can find a way to have you reunite at some point," I smirked, Napstablook smiling at that.
"i'd like that a lot... come over here... there's some fun to be had," Napstablook said as he led our group to the east and we saw that there was actually a small race track and three different snails at a starting line. "it's called thundersnail... pick a snail and help encourage it to win... since we're friends... this one's free," Napstablook said, me smiling at that.
"Cool! I want the green one!" Spike smirked.
"I pick red!" Magenta smiled.
"Then I'll pick blue," I said, Napstablook then pushing a button and a trio of sounds happening before the snails then proceeded to slither at the sound of some really awesome music playing. My snail was moving kinda slow at first, but I smiled at him.
"Come on, blue!" I smirked, him then picking up the pace slightly and me seeing that he managed to get a bit of a lead from magenta while Spike's snail was still in the lead.
"You can do it, red! I'm waving at you!" Magenta smirked as she swayed her head a bit, the red snail then picking up the pace and getting ahead of both me and Spike's snail... and won.
"congratulations... magenta won... the snail's name is also magenta, you know?" Napstablook said, her smirking at that.
"Really?" she smiled.
"yeah, it is. here's your prize... 9 g," Napstablook said as he gave Magenta the 9 gold coins and I had to wonder how she would handle it.
"So how are you going to hold that money?" I asked her.
"Just watch. Being trapped for a long time can give you quite a bit of practice in magic," Magenta grinned as she then used telekinesis to put the money into what looked like a small wallet that she was hiding in her shirt, where I then saw that she actually had pockets on the inside of the shirt.
"Okay, that's genius, having pockets on the inside of your clothes. No way anyone would be able to take that money from you," I said, her smirking at that.
"Yeah, I know. That's why all monsters have pockets like that. Because the humans tend to get pretty money grubby when they get down here," Magenta said, Spike being confused at that.
"But... weren't you trapped in that Void for a long time? How would you know about the other humans that fell down here?" Spike asked.
"Well... there was some kind of time loop that took effect for over a million times, all correlating to this day... but being trapped in the Void allows you to see everything that came before this day. And it gave me some insight about the humans that came before Frisk... all of them, including the first one," Magenta said, me looking at her with seriousness and whispering something in her ear.
"If you know anything about my second soul, I'd like that to be kept secret, okay? We're being hunted, after all," I said, Magenta nodding at that.
"I won't blab," she said, me smirking at that as we then bid farewell to Napstablook and I then decided to ask Magenta a question.
"So... what were the other humans like? The ones that came after the first one, but before me?" I asked, Magenta smirking at that.
"Well, the one that fell down after Chara was named Maria and she was the one who owned a soul of Patience. She ended up getting caught by Undyne just before Hotland.
The next one was Brutis, the owner of a soul of Bravery. He was the most money grubby of the bunch and stole money from the different residents of the Underground. He was captured by Professor Gaster before the CORE was completed.
Cindy was the next one and owned a soul of Integrity. She was one of the ones who lasted longer, but was caught by Sans... which is kind of surprising, considering he was just a kid at the time.
Then there was Perkins, the owner of a Perseverance soul. He managed to last very well, due to his soul being sturdy with its purple nature. But he was caught by Undyne because of her special green attack. He also was a bit money grubby, stealing money from the residents of Snowdin.
Next was Tank, the owner of a yellow soul of Justice. He was the one who made it almost the whole way through Hotland, but was captured by one of the Royal Guardsmen.
And finally, there was Hope, the owner of the green soul of Kindness... she managed to last the longest because of Sans being her guardian for reasons unknown... she made it all the way to Asgore's castle... and then her soul was taken. Her kindness couldn't save her in the end," Magenta said as we continued to move to the east and we came into a room filled with lanterns that caused darkness all over unless I touched special crystals.
"Wow... you know a lot, sis. How long were you trapped in that Void?" Spike asked his sister.
"If we include the million plus RESETs, then I was in the Void for over 3400 years... and Gaster was in there for even longer, being in their for at least a hundred years before the RESETs happened," Magenta said, Spike gawking at that as well as me.
"Wow... that's a lot of years... even by monster standards," Spike gawked.
"So how long do monsters tend to live for before they die of old age?" I asked, Magenta being the one to answer that.
"Monsters usually get old and die at around a thousand years of life, but it takes effect further if they have a child, where they turn to dust a few years after the child comes of age, due to them infusing the child with their magic," she said, me thinking about that before I asked another question.
"And what happens to a monster when they die? How long until they turn to dust?" I asked.
"Instantly. When a monster dies, they turn to dust in an instant and only a Boss Monster can have their soul survive for a short amount of time after they die," Spike said, me gawking at that.
"Well, that's a bit surprising..." I frowned, wondering if that had anything to do with the monsters that Alphys hid from us. I shook that feeling as we found ourselves in a very dark room and we continued forward in the darkness before something then appeared in front of our view. A blue flower.
"Behind you," the flower said in a shy voice, me doing just that and wishing I hadn't. Right there, staring our group down, was Undyne and Flowey. I'd honestly forgotten about him for a bit and now he was ready to do some more dirty tricks.
"Human. Let those kids go from your mind control right this instant," Undyne said, me being confused at that.
"Mind control?" I asked in confusion.
"Don't play dumb, human. We know you have mind control powers. Now let those kids go right now," Flowey said, me frowning at that as the kids then looked worried at that. I simply looked at them and sighed.
"I would... but I don't know how to let them free from my mind control," I said, Undyne gasping at that and the kids looking at me in confusion.
"What?! Then how the hell can we get them freed?!" Undyne asked in anger.
"I meant that I don't know how to free them from mind control... because I don't have that kind of power, so I never had them under mind control," I said, Spike looking at Undyne as did Magenta.
"Then I suggest you tell those kids to move out of the way. It's time for me to claim that soul of yours right here and right now," Undyne said as she readied a magic spear and Spike and Magenta looked at me in concern.
"Listen to what she says, guys. I can handle this," I said with a smile as the duo then begrudgingly hid behind me and Undyne then rushed forward and tried to connect her spear into my body... but I grabbed onto it before she could lunge it forward and Undyne gasped as I actually managed to hold her in place from Thorn taking temporary control.
"NNNGGAAHH! Why can't I skewer you?!" Undyne growled in anger.
"Because my soul is far stronger than any human you've faced before," I said as I then threw the spear AND Undyne over towards Flowey and he retreated under the dirt and ran off in fear at the strength I possessed. And Undyne? She was shocked beyond all compare.
"Oh my god... FINALLY! I finally have a worthy challenger!" Undyne exclaimed with a smile as she then got off the ground with a smile, which I didn't expect. "Human! We will fight each other at the entrance to Hotland! Give it your all and don't give me anything less!" Undyne exclaimed, me smirking at that.
"Very well," I said, me knowing that I wouldn't be able to kill her unless I was intent on it... which I wasn't. I just wanted to spar with her to see if she could get tired enough to admit defeat. "Just so you know, I can't kill a monster unless I have the intent to do so," I said, Undyne smirking at that.
"I want nothing but your best effort! I shall await you with your audience! And you better not have them fight for you, punk!" Undyne said, me smiling at that.
"Why would I do that again? I don't think that they'd fair well against someone like the Captain of the Royal Guard. Doesn't seem like a fair fight," I said, Undyne smirking at that as she then rushed to the north through a boggy area filled with more blue talking flowers, them talking about asking for wishes to see the surface, me wondering what their deal was.
"What are those flowers?" I asked Spike.
"They're Echo Flowers. If you say something near them, they'll keep saying it over and over again. It's kind of like a recording. But it gets changed up if the flower hears anything else," Spike explained, me smiling at that.
"Sounds pretty interesting," I smiled as we then got to an area that had a giant jagged cliff and Undyne standing at the top of it.
"Seven. Seven human souls. With the power of those souls, we can destroy the barrier... and wipe out humanity for their crimes against monsters... and we currently have six," Undyne said as she then looked down at me from her high vantage point. "Before our battle begins, human, allow me to tell you the tragic tale of our people," Undyne said, me frowning at that.
"I already know of it," I said, her looking at me in surprise. "Something about the humans sealing monsters underground, then a human called Chara fell underground, them dying, Prince Asriel taking their soul and body to the surface, and then the humans beat him to death because they thought he killed Chara. Right?" I asked, Undyne growling at that.
"Seems you're much smarter than I gave you credit for, human. Now it's time to face your death with dignity! NNNGGGAAAHHH!" Undyne exclaimed as she then pulled off her helmet and smashed it to bits. And it was then that I saw she was actually a fish person with fins on her cheeks, a single yellow eye with the other being covered by an eye patch, scales coated in blue, long red hair in a ponytail, and a grin filled with tons of razor-sharp teeth. "Step forward when you want to meet your maker!" Undyne shouted, me nodding at that as I then walked forward and Undyne then shouted a battle cry as she jumped off the cliff with her spear about to plunge into my body... that is, before I grabbed onto the spear and shocked Undyne and the kids when I managed to heft the fish girl off the ground and I then slammed her behind me.
"NGAH! Stay still!" Undyne exclaimed as she then sent a beam of green energy at me that then hit me... and then, nothing happened. I moved forward through the tunnel and Undyne gawked at that. "H-HEY! Get back here!" Undyne shouted as she rushed after me and tried to send more green attacks at me, but they did nothing. I continued to run forward until Undyne jumped ahead and slammed her foot into the ground in front of me, me being surprised at that.
"FACE ME NOW!" Undyne shouted, me smirking at her as I then nodded and gave her a silly face, Undyne growling at that. "You know that's not what I meant!" Undyne growled as she then rushed me and tried to connect her spear to my body, but I dodged three of them before then countering one of her blows with a punch to her side, Undyne actually being downed by that as I saw I managed to slightly dent her armor. I was shocked at this, but rushed forward to see I was in an area filled with heat and that lava was flowing beneath us... and Sans was at a sentry post and sleeping on the job. Undyne continued to chase me until I got to an area with a water station... and Undyne looked like she was tiring out.
"Armor... so... hot... b-but I... can't... give up... I can't... I..." Undyne groaned... and then, she actually passed out, me gasping at that as I immediately rushed to her and proceeded to get her out of the armor that she was trapped in, me seeing it had fasteners in the back and that, upon getting them removed, I saw she was dressed in a tank top and jeans underneath. I then ran to the water station as the kids caught up and I then gave Undyne some water in her mouth as well as a bit on her cheek fins for good measure. She then sighed and got up, her looking at me, then at the armor, then the kids behind her. Undyne then simply looked at me again with a frown.
"Hmph... good job, kid," she said before then walking to the west, me wondering what I should do at this point... and then, someone called me on the phone. I answered it very quickly.
"Hello?" I asked.
"HELLO, FRISK! IT'S PAPYRUS HERE!" he said, me smirking at that.
"No, it's the Great Papyrus," I said, him smirking at that.
"INDEED! I WANTED TO ASK IF YOU'D LIKE TO JOIN ME AT UNDYNE'S PLACE! I HAVE THE PERFECT PLAN IN PLACE TO MAKE SURE YOU TWO CAN BECOME FRIENDS!" Papyrus said, me smiling at that.
"Sounds like I could go for a detour like that... but it's kind of a long walk from Hotland to there, right?" I asked, Papyrus smiling at that.
"NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THAT! THE RIVER PERSON SHOULD BE OFF OF THEIR BREAK! THEY CAN FERRY YOU FROM HOTLAND, TO WATERFALL, AND TO SNOWDIN FREE OF CHARGE! I WILL AWAIT YOU BY UNDYNE'S PLACE. SHE LIVES JUST TO THE NORTH OF THE GARBAGE DUMP IN WATERFALL!" Papyrus said, me smiling at that.
"Got it. Her house is in Waterfall... is it shaped like a fish by chance?" I asked.
"CORRECT!" Papyrus said as I then gasped as I realized... Sans was sleeping, so the pizza was getting cold! I immediately got into the bag to see if the pizza was okay and still warm... but color me surprised, the pizza was still frozen in time!
"I don't get it... if Sans is asleep, then why is the pizza still frozen in time?... And still so warm?" I asked... before I got my answer from Magenta.
"You don't think that Sans is the only one with time manipulation powers, right?" she smirked, me looking at her in confusion before she then did something shocking... and froze time for everything around us, which shocked me, Chara, Thorn, and Spike at the same time.
"Whoa! You can freeze time as well?! You probably learned that from Gaster in the Void, huh?" I asked her in shock.
"Yep! Being trapped for over three thousand years can give you quite a bit of practice in the magical arts. Gaster and us other Void monsters are probably the strongest monsters in the entire Underground right now, but we'd prefer to keep that on the down low," Magenta said, me smirking at that.
"I can understand that line of thinking... okay, let's go pay Undyne a visit at her house. Maybe we can even get you an autograph from her, Spike," I said, Spike smirking at that with glee and jumping in place with excitement.
"YES! I get to be the first kid in my class to get Undyne's autograph! This is gonna be sweet!" Spike smiled as he tried to rush forward... but then tripped on the ground before righting himself and us following after him with a smile.
"So... how are we going to break the news to him about me and Thorn being in your second soul?" Chara asked me in thought. I sighed at that and though to her that I'd probably tell him after we were done talking to Undyne at her place, but before we delivered the pizza to Alphys.
