Wolffe opened his eyes the next morning. He was sitting on the couch in his blacks with his armour set on the table in front of him. The tingling sensation in his left arm reminded him of Lyni and how they were worked together to paint all of his armour before laying it out to dry.
Turning his head to the left he saw the girl curled up beside him. Her head was on his shoulder which was why his arm was numb. Remembering how he carefully kept his arm on the back of the couch he realized it must have fallen around the kid while they were asleep.
Moving carefully as to not wake Lyni, Wolffe got up and laid her down on the couch. Checking the time he saw that he was due on the bridge soon. There was only time to put on his armour before he headed up. Putting it on with the ease of a lifetime.
Pausing at the door he noticed that Lyni was still quietly asleep. She looked so young and vulnerable. Turning back into the room he stepped quickly into the bedroom, grabbed a blanket and pillow, then went to the girl. Gently lifting her enough to slide the pillow under her head before putting the blanket over her.
Another quick turn and he crossed the quarters. Heading towards the bridge he knew that he was going to be a few minutes late. The General will understand.
