Rose made her way downstairs to smell of breakfast. It was the first Saturday after they got back from Hogwarts. Scorpius didn't come last night. He already wrote to her that he had to take a trip to Berlin for business. She missed his arms around her, it made the bed seem colder than before. She had slept in that bed before Scorpius came in her life, but it was different now that she knew what it was like to sleep next to him.
"Morning," Hugo said before taking a bite of his eggs. Rose nodded at her brother before taking a seat at the table.
"Here," Hermione placed a cup of tea in front of Rose. "Didn't sleep well," Rose nodded. "I understand," Hermione placed a plate of eggs, bacon, and toast in front of Rose. Rose eyes widen. Her mum knew that Scorpius was sleeping over. "When your father went on missions for the aurors, I was alone, and it felt cold." Hermione ran a hand over hair. "It's gets better," Hermione took a seat next to Hugo.
Rose started to eat her food. "What are you plans today?" Her mum asked.
Rose took a sip of her tea before answering. "Packing. Also, to see if Scorpius back so we can go to the Cottage to see what we are going to need for when we move in."
"What do you say about lunch at Burrow," Hermione took a moment before continuing. "Around one."
Rose narrowed her eyes She could tell that her mother was up to something. "Sure," Rose hesitantly said. Hermione smiled, finish her tea before leaving. Rose turned to her brother. "What is Mum about?" Hugo too busy eating only shrugged his shoulders.
At five to one, Rose and Hermione apparated to The Burrow. Hermione led Rose to the garden. Rose turned the corner and saw her female relatives and friends. They were sitting at tables that had gold and silver tablecloths, there were white and yellow daisies on the table. There was a was table with gifts on it.
"What is this about?" Rose had feeling she knew what this was about.
Hermione leaned closer. "It's a bridal shower," She whispered.
Rose didn't know what to say all she could do was nod. Lily can up and put sash over Rose. The sash said 'Bride-to-be'. She pulled Rose to the table that had a decorated chair. Around the table her bridesmaids. Rose saw her mum take a seat next to Astoria and Molly.
Lily stayed standing. "Thank you all for coming. There is food and drinks on the table over there." Lily waved a hand to the left. "Please help yourselves."
Everyone went and filled their plates with food. As they sat, they were talking among themselves. After everyone had their filled of food and drinks the games started. Lily stood up and moved her downwards to crowd to quiet them.
"Now that everyone has food in their bellies, it is time to play games," Lily nodded to Roxanne. "We are going to see how well Rose knows Scorpius. Roxanne is passing out little pieces of paper. Please write your questions on them." It took five minutes for everyone to write out a question and for them to be collected. "As most of know Rose and Scorpius have only known each other for a year, so this should be fun." Roxanne handed her the questions in a bowl. Lily shook the bowl before pulling out the first question. Lily had sparkle in her eye as she read the first question. "What did Scorpius want as a first pet?"
"A dragon," Rose said without hesitation. There where looks between the older generation, they knew something was going on.
"Okay," Lily said. She decided to ask the next question. Several questions passed before a question that didn't catch Rose off guard. "What is Scorpius' favorite book?" Lily asked.
"He doesn't have just one book, but a series that he loves. It is called The Cities," Rose answered. Lily shook her head at her cousin, she could tell that her cousin was in love.
Lily pulled out the next question. Lily left out a laugh before reading. "Does Scorpius snore?" Lily didn't think that Rose would know this answer when they are not sleeping together.
"Sometimes if he had a long day." Lily gave her cousin a look.
"How do you know that?" Lily asked.
Rose blushed. "We have been sleeping in the same bed since Scorpius' birthday." There were gasps all round, but the two mothers of the bride and groom had smiles on their faces. They both knew where Scorpius was spending the night. It only confirmed what they thought.
"Okay, next question: What kind of underwear does Scorpius wear?" Lily moved on to the next question, she was going to have to ask Rose about her sleeping with Scorpius later. "She should know this answer since she is sleeping with him."
Rose threw her cousin a look before answering. "Boxer briefs," Rose let out a smirk. Lily rolled her eyes.
A few more questions were asked before they were at the last question. "This is the last question before we move on to another game. "What would Scorpius say is your pet peeve?"
Rose looked around the group of women to see who would ask this question. "He hates when I lose myself in what I am doing and don't take care of myself." No one said anything wondering if that was the right answer.
"I think we are going to have to ask Scorpius if he agrees with you," Lily said after a moment. Lily smiled to change the mood if the party. "I think it is time for the next game. "As some of you know marriage is hard work and that there needs to be time for reconnect with each other, especially when the children come. Let's give Rose and Scorpius some date night ideas."
Everyone had ideas on what Rose and Scorpius should do on date night. Rose couldn't remember all of them. She hoped that someone was writing it down. Lucy tapped her on the shoulder and Rose saw that she had a quick quill writing everything down. Rose thanked her softly before hearing more ideas.
They finished when the ideas had gone a little crazy. The next game they played was pin the mustache on the groom. There was a giant picture of Scorpius' face and Roxanne went around and handed everyone a black paper mustache. She also handed out numbers to see who would go up first and next. Rose saw what number she had, and she was right in the middle. Rose leaned closer to Ariadne, who was closer to her.
"I have seen your brother grow a mustache and it is not black. It is more like a dirty blond," Ariadne laughed. She had seen her brother try to grow a mustache and beard, it barely came in.
The girls turned to see who was putting the mustache on. Rose watched some miss Scorpius' face completely, some who were to far below and too far to high. Before Rose got up there was only one person who had it close and was Astoria. Rose let Lucy put the blindfold on her and spin her around a couple of times before Rose went put the mustache on. Rose placed the mustache to the best of her ability. She didn't hear laughter after she finished. She took of her blindfold to see that she had gotten the mustache right where it needed to be. Just above his upper lip.
"I think that Rose knows her future husband too well," Dom said from the crowd. Everyone nodded to agree with her.
"I think it is time for another game," Lily said.
The game was writing a poem about Rose and Scorpius' story. Everyone wrote a line before the paper was handed back to Lily. Lily read it out loud and there was laughter from everyone. Some of the lines were made up and some were the truth. One of the lines said that Scorpius got his pet dragon for his birthday. Rose loved every line of it and couldn't wait to show Scorpius. He would love it.
The last game they play was something like musical chairs but instead they the passed around bouquet. Everyone had fun and watched who won the game. They were surprised that it was Hermione who won the game. Hermione only smiled before giving the bouquet to Roxanne.
"I think that it is time for presents," Lily said. "Rose come and sit here," Lily pulled a chair to the gift table. Lucy pulled a chair behind her.
Lily handed her the first gift. Rose opened the gifts that were given to her. Most of the gifts were something for the house that Rose and Scorpius needed. There were some that stood out for Rose. The first was a sapphire bracelet from her all her female cousins.
"It will be your something blue on your wedding day," Vic told her. Rose loved the bracelet. She wanted to hug her cousins by Lily held her down. She would have to thank them later for this wonderful gift.
The other gift that caught Rose's attention was the gift from Astoria. It was a medieval cup. There were gems on the cup. Rose had a feeling that the cup costed a fortune. She gave her future mother-in-law a look when she pulled out the cup.
Astoria smiled. "The cup has been passed down from mother-in-law to daughter-in-law since the fourteen hundred. I got it from Narcissa and I'm giving it to you. On your wedding you and Scorpius are to drink from it and say what you want from the marriage. I wanted a happy marriage and I think that I got it. I know that Draco got what he wanted. It could be that we love each other, or it could be from the cup. I'll let you decide on what you think." Rose nodded and put the cup to the side.
After the gifts, the party started to wane down. Her bridesmaids helped with clean up and putting the gifts away. Rose was going to take them to the new house tomorrow and see what else they were going to need for the new house. She hoped that Scorpius would meet her there, so they can decide together. Rose thanked everyone for coming and for the gifts. She got to hug her cousins for the bracelet. They were glad that she liked it.
It wasn't long before she was home with her gifts. It was one more day sooner to the wedding and Rose was getting nervous. She felt that she still had a lot to do. She still had one more dress fitting before the wedding. There were little things that needed to be done. She still needed to pack. Rose took a breath she knew things were going to get done. She had a lot of help from her family and his family. It was going to go off without a hitch if her mother and his mother running ship.
The next day found Rose at her new home. She set the box of gifts down. Lily and Roxanne came to help with some boxes that she had packed the day before. Rose was to meet Scorpius here so they could go through the house. She took out a notepad and quick quill to start. She decided to start in the kitchen.
She had a long list from the kitchen when Scorpius and Hector showed up. Scorpius smiled at her frown. "You were support to be here," Rose took out his pocket watch that he got from his parents on his seventeenth birthday. "An hour ago," Scorpius just leaned down and kissed her.
"I'm here now," Scorpius smiled. Rose hit him with the notepad.
She gave him a sweet smiled that had Scorpius scared. "I just finished the kitchen; we still have the rest of house." Out of the corner of her eye, Rose saw Lily, Roxanne, and Hector leave. She had Scorpius all to herself.
They went through the house and wrote everything that they were going to need for their house. Scorpius thought that they were done until Rose told him that they had to go shopping. After the shopping trip they spent time setting up their house the best they could before the wedding. They had a feeling that they were going to get more things as gifts from the wedding.
Scorpius took her out to dinner after they had a busy day. He also had some bad news for Rose. He waited until they had their food before he told her.
Scorpius gave her a smile. "I hate to do this to you, but I'm going to be out of town until three days before the wedding."
Rose frowned. "We still have a lot to do before the wedding."
"I know. I'm sorry." Scorpius grabbed her hand. He played with her engagement ring. "I love you and I'm going to miss you."
Rose sighed. There was nothing she could do to make him stay. She didn't want this to be her life, Scorpius not there. "I love you, too. Just be here for our wedding."
"Oh, I will. I wouldn't miss it for the world." Rose smiled but her heart wasn't in it like before.
