Round 2: Satoshi vs. Nick Sawyer
-The Next Day-
"Yes, Professor Elm," Ash said, talking to the Pokemon Professor of the Johto Region over his PokeGear. "I really don't mind if you hang onto my Alola Team for the remainder of your trip."
"Thank you Ash," Elm said. "I greatly appreciate it! I found myself traveling up Mount Lanakila and managed to get lost in the icy caves. If it weren't for you Sandslash, I would have never gotten out of there! However I feel like your Incineroar was joking around with me and purposefully taking wrong turns…"
"I'm sorry to hear that Professor," Ash said. "But Incineroar doesn't seem like the type to just prank people..."
"Maybe it has something to do with Incineroar's inherent, evil tendencies. In the professional wrestling business, a heel is a term used to describe a 'bad guy'. That is why Incineroar is known as the Heel Pokemon after all. Now where I was going with this was…"
May and Paul, with his Cyndaquil riding on his shoulder, walked up next to Ash and noticed who he was talking to.
"Ash Ketchum!" She exclaimed. "Your next match for the tournament starts in five minutes! Get your ass over to the stadium!" May winked at Ash, knowing that his next match was 4 hours away. Paul chuckled at May's false remark.
"I'm sorry Professor, I really have to go," Ash said looking up from his PokeGear.
"Best of luck to you Ash!" Elm said. "Your Pokemon and I will be rooting you on! As soon as we get out of this abandoned convenience store-"
Ash hung up on the Professor. "Thanks," Ash said to May. "I really owe you one."
"I figured it would be the only way for you to hang up," May replied.
"He is a really nice guy," Paul stated. "But he just doesn't seem to know when to shut up sometimes."
"He was just telling me about how my Pokemon are doing," Ash said. "Apparently Incineroar's been joking around with the guy for a bit."
"That sounds like something Incineroar would do," May said laughing.
"You guys gonna check out my second match later today?" Ash said. "It's a 3 on 3 singles battle."
"I know I'll be there. Who are you facing?" May asked.
"Some up and comer who specializes in grass types," Ash said. "Shouldn't be too much of a challenge."
"Who are you choosing for your team?"
"I'm gonna try and have some fun in this battle. I think I'm gonna pick Glalie, Typhlosion and Muk," Ash said.
"Well I'll see you there," May said, walking away from the two men. Ash could help but examine her figure as she walked away.
"Fantasizing about May again?" Paul said.
"I was not!" Ash said, grinning at his friend. "She's just one of my best friends, and I'm very happy that she will be there rooting me on."
"Yeah, yeah, say what you will," Paul said. "Ritchie and I will also be cheering you on from the stands."
"Sounds good, buddy," Ash said, bumping fists with his friend.
"Aw, all I get is a fist bump?" Paul said as a joke.
A cloaked Ash entered the field to the name "Satoshi" and tossed a Pokeball into the air, catching it in his hand and then striking a pose. The crowd cheered at his showmanship.
'I do like having my fun every once in a while,' Ash thought to himself, before entering an extremely focused mindset.
Across the field from him entered a Trainer with blonde hair and a sun hat, known as Nick Sawyer. He wore cargo shorts and a white button down shirt. He was barefoot, and in his mouth was a long piece of straw. Slung across his back was a guitar that was dark brown in color. The audience cheered at the trainer, who became famous for his laid back, lone wanderer personality.
"Alright," The referee announced. "This is going to be a 3 vs. 3 single battle on the Plains Battlefield. Nick Sawyer will get the first move. Let the battle begin!"
"Best of luck to ya in this battle Satoshi," The opposing trainer said with a southern accent. "I'm gonna give it all I got."
"Same goes to you," Ash said smiling, putting on a persona in order to better conceal his identity. "Let's have a battle for the ages!"
"Let's go Roserade!"
"Glalie, may the Aura guide you!"
The bipedal plant Pokemon with a rose on each hand entered the field and stuck out its arms. In front of Ash appeared the ice type Pokemon whose body was essentially a large, menacing head.
"Roserade, use Leaf Blade," Nick said, keeping the piece of straw in his mouth.
"Glalie, use Rapid Spin to dodge," Ash called.
From each of Roserade's petals extended a long green sword. Roserade dashed across the field and jumped, jabbing a sword forward at Glalie. Glalie however was prepared, and spun across the battlefield dodging the attack. Roserades sword was driven into the ground below.
"Use Frost Breath, Glalie!"
"Roserade, use Leech Seed!"
Roserade fired many green seeds from its roses at Glalie. Glalie countered this by blowing a stream of cold air from its mouth which froze the seeds, causing them to fall to the ground. Glalie's attack continued on, freezing Roserade's extended hands together.
"Use Zen Headbutt!" Ash called.
"Counter it, Roserade!"
Glalie's forehead glowed a brilliant purple as it hovered across the field at its opponent. Roserade, however, spun in place, bashing its frozen hands against Glalie's head, proving to be an effective counter attack. The ice that froze Roserade's hands together had smashed, freeing the restrained Pokemon. Glalie rolled back over to Ash, but recovered. It would take a lot more to knock it out.
"Atta boy, Glalie," Ash said. "Now use Ice Beam and Rapid Spin!"
"Use your Leaf Blade again!" Nick called out to his Pokemon.
As Glalie formed a bright blue ball in between its horns, Roserade formed a long blade out of the red rose on its right hand. It lunged forward in the air, but before it could strike Glalie, Glalie spun in place, sending several Ice Beams swirling around its body. This maneuver resembled that of Ash's Buizel's counter shield.
Roserade accidentally entered the path of one of the beams, which froze the Pokemon in place. Glalie bounced up next to it, tapping its head against the encased Pokemon. Roserade broke out and fell on the ground unconscious.
"Roserade is unable to battle!" The referee called. "Nick, please choose your next Pokemon."
"That was quite the spectacle," the trainer said, returning his unconcious Pokemon. "Go Tropius!" The winged Pokemon emerged from its ball and soared across the field. It touched down on the ground on all fours and craned its long neck into the air.
"Glalie, use Ice Beam!" Ash said to his Pokemon.
"Use Whirlwind, Tropius!" Said the grass-type specialist.
Glalie fired a bright blue beam from in between its horns, but Tropius flew upwards dodging the attack. It flapped its wings, sending a large tornado at Glalie. Glalie was caught in the gust of wind, and sent back to Ash, returning to its Pokeball. From a ball on Ash's belt popped out his poison type: Muk.
"Use Body Slam, Tropius!"
"Muk, you know what to do!" Ash called, with a smile on his face.
Tropius dive-bombed the gelatinous Pokemon, but Muk sank its body low into the ground. Tropius missed Muk, and flew back into the air. Muk then twisted its body around firing a Sludge Bomb from its mouth. Looking back at its opponent at the wrong moment, the ball of sludge hit Tropius in the face and blinded it, which sent it crashing to the ground.
'Can't see!' Was what Tropius comedically uttered before entering its nose dive.
Muk made its way across the field and extended its body, towering over the Pokemon. Giving it one of its famous 'hugs,' Muk enveloped Tropius in its body. When Muk receded from the Pokemon, Tropius was revealed to be unconscious.
"Tropius is unable to battle!" The referee called. "Nick, please choose your next Pokemon."
Nick returned his Pokemon and tossed his final Pokeball into the air. Appearing on the field was Nick Sawyer's signature Gogoat. It scraped its hoof against the ground and snorted at Muk. Muk let out a groan in response.
'Hey friend,' Ash's Muk said to the opponent, extending its arms. 'Does somebody want a hug?'
"I know you want to give him a hug, buddy, but I'm gonna let you sit this one out," Ash said to his sludge-like Pokemon. Ash's friendly Pokemon understood and retreated to its Pokeball. Ash then threw out his fire-type starter of the Johto Region, Typhlosion. Who was once a Cyndaquil, then a Quilava, was now a fully evolved beast with mastery over fire type moves. Typhlosion let out a cry, blowing a Flamethrower in the air and across the field. The grassy field ignited in several lines of flame.
Gogoat charged forward and jumped over the wall of flames, slamming its hard head against Typhlosion. Typhlosion flew backwards and skidded in front of Ash. It rose up to its feet and let out a cry, which ignited the flames around its neck. The audience cheered at the spectacle, ready to see the battle that was about to go down.
'I'm raring to go, Ash,' Typhlosion said to its trainer through aura.
"Just do your thing, Typhlosion," Ash said, nodding at his Pokemon.
Typhlosion jumped forward in the air and rolled itself into a Flame Wheel, shooting across the field. Typhlosion ran circles around the Gogoat creating a ring of fire around it. Typhlosion lunged out of its initial attack and entered the circle with Gogoat. The grass-type charged forward at Typhlosion, who jumped over the Pokemon. Gogoat came to a stop before running into the flaming circle it was trapped in the center of.
Typhlosion then jumped forward with its fist glowing white, hitting Gogoat with a Mega Punch. Gogoat returned to its feet. As it did, its horns glowed bright green as it fired off a Horn Leech attack. The radiant attack shot across the field at hit Typhlosion. Several green particles exited Typhlosion's body, and entered Gogoat, which made it stronger.
Typhlosion was prepared to finish off this battle as it stood tall and let out a cry, which caused the flames around its neck to intensify. From its mouth, Typhlosion shot a Fire Blast. As the ball of fire travelled across the field, it took the shape of a kanji, and it enveloped Gogoat in flames. Standing in places was a burned Gogoat, who coughed out some smoke and collapsed onto the ground.
"Gogoat is unable to battle!" The referee called. "The winner is Satoshi!" The audience cheered and applauded Ash.
Ash walked to the center of the field and met his Typhlosion, placing a hand on its nose. Typhlosion buried its face into its trainer's hand as he rubbed its head. Walking up to him was his opponent in the match who tipped his sun hat up and smiled at his opponent. He gave him a thumbs up, and proceeded to raise his arm as a sign of victory.
He then waved goodbye to Ash and exited the field with his Gogoat at his side, returning to his laid back way of living out in nature.
