Jilytober - Talking in their sleep
"Whoops, steady on Evans," James reached for Lily's arm and missed crashing into the sideboard. The pair of them dissolved into giggles.
"You missed Potter!" Lily declared and then tripped on her feet, landing in a heap with James. She laughed and tried to scramble up.
"Alright Prongs, let's sort you out." Sirius huffed and dragged James up, brushing his jacket down.
James leaned in towards Sirius and spoke in a loud stage whisper, "Pads... It's Evans... she's in my house!" He whooped and Sirius shushed him.
"You'll wake mum, settle down." He shoved his shoulder under James' arm and called back to Marlene.
"Get Evans would you, she's away to fall asleep down there, we can put them in the den,"
Sure enough, Lily was slumped against the sideboard, eyes closed.
"Come on, Lils, let's get you somewhere comfier,"
"Are we at Potter's house Mar?"
"Yes we are Lily, couldn't take you home like this," Marlene smiled, lifted Lily gently and guided her down the hall towards the den.
Sirius had deposited James onto the sofa bed, removed his glasses and chucked a blanket on him. He was snoring softly already. Marlene shifted Lily onto the bed too, which seemed to panic her momentarily.
"Mar!" She gasped, "I can't sleep on Potter's bed!"
Marlene removed Lily's shoes and pushed her down gently. "It's a sofa Lily,"
"Oh well, s'okay then," muttered Lily, turning on her side and sliding under the blanket too.
Marlene stood back and raised her eyebrows at Sirius.
"Did you let them get in this state?" she asked accusingly.
"They were like that when I arrived," Sirius replied then laughed, "I have so much new material for ribbing Potter,"
"Are we leaving them here then?" Marlene asked as she crossed the room to lounge onto another big armchair.
"Should probably keep an eye on them. Mia won't mind if you crash too. There are more blankets in the box there, or you can share mine," he grinned at Marlene whilst lounging back on his chair.
"Dream on Black," Marlene grabbed some extra blankets and snuggled down on the sofa. There was a pause, soft snoring filled the gap and Marlene stretched her toes towards the log fire.
"Does he still —"
"Yeah, absolutely, he does. He's an idiot," Sirius looked fondly at James.
"Not sure she thinks he is such a toerag anymore," mused Marlene.
Sirius looked up at her, a puzzled look on his face and then over at James again as he stirred. "Shit I hope he isn't going to be sick,"
"Lily?" James mumbled softly, rolling over towards Lily. Sirius and Marlene froze.
"James," Lily replied with a sigh and moved closer.
Sirius and Marlene smothered their giggles and crept closer, "Sleeping still," remarked Marlene quietly.
"Pair of idiots," replied Sirius.
