For two weeks the Justice League was busy with criminals that they normally had to intervene against, but there were no signs of Dylas Blackwell. Nor of Emily Blackwell which only grew concerning for them all. No Blackwell cases meant that something had happened rather quickly, and it affected Dylas. "It's been two weeks. No Dylas Blackwell and no Emily Blackwell. Has anyone heard from Evelyn?" J'onn was monitoring the Earth and did find the lack of Blackwells concerning.
"No. We lost contact with her when she left the Tower after Zacharias was killed," Kaldur answered as he looked to see Doc and Drew looking worried. "I can assure you that the Justice League has not stopped searching for Evelyn. With the fact that Zach was killed her mental state was probably shaken, which means if Dylas has anything to do with it, Evelyn was vulnerable to him." Drew glared and snarled at Kaldur. "It is something we must factor. Even if we do not want to believe it. That Dylas may have claimed another life."
Before much else could be said an alarm went off for Central City. "This is Iris West reporting and I have Breaking News. A new villain has emerged and is outsmarting Kid Flash and Flash himself. Could this female be the newest problem for the Justice League?"
"Go," Batman ordered to Nightwing and Kaldur who took off with Clark and Superboy. He looked at the screen and frowned knowing who was hiding underneath the mask and sighed. "Why did it have to go so far south?"
Meanwhile, in Central City, the newest villainess was enjoying playing with her new toys. "Can't catch me huh? Maybe that's how Evelyn felt when I outsmarted her. Poor Dylas. His daughter so pathetic." Barry had enough and lunged at the girl and knocked her down and she grunted before wrapping her thighs around his shoulders and flipping him off her before standing and cackling before taking off making all the heroes look confused.
"Who was that?"
"More importantly why here? Why did she bring up Evelyn and Dylas? Where was Emily Blackwell?" Clark was concerned about those.
"On top of that, she was able to flip Barry right off," Nightwing answered. "This girl has some serious skill and some training under her belt."
"My main concern is how she mentions Evelyn. We all know that once Doc and Drew hear that, they'll want answers about their niece," Batman responded.
"Contact Ra's Al Ghul. See if Talia can't come up and find Evelyn. Maybe she's in hiding from Dylas. Having had close calls before," Conner answered. He knew it was a long shot, but if Evelyn was really in hiding they needed to protect her.
"We need to find Evelyn," Clark answered. "We'll redouble our efforts. Next time we see that girl we give chase back to her base and plan a rescue for Evelyn Blackwell."
Meanwhile, the new villainess arrived back at her base camp. "Nice work Hunter," Dylas greeted as he sat with the creatures. "All my men saw and were proud. You truly have made them question if that whole loyalty to helping heroes was real."
"Ugh the heroes are pathetic. They cling for their life on Evelyn Blackwell being alive. One day soon they will see that she lives, but not in the way they were expecting," she cackled. Walking to her room she closed and locked the door before standing in the mirror and pulling off her mask and looking at her reflection. "Zach. I know you're gone and I know I need to get my revenge, but this is a mission. Do you know how hard it is to tell myself that? I want to fight Dylas and all the others sometimes. I miss the others. Your parents cry," she whispered before feeling her eyes well with tears. "I cry because I miss you."
When everyone returned, J'onn was with Ra's and Talia. "We had a chance to analyze the recording and those moves aren't classic League of Shadow moves," Talia answered. "If they did learn from us, they struck out on their own."
"Then we have no clue as to their true identity?" Clark wasn't liking this one bit which made Talia shake her head. "What about Evelyn? Is it possible?"
"Evelyn Blackwell was one of our best students. She was not taught these sloppy amateur moves. It would be a disgrace to her talent so she wouldn't," Ra's answered.
"He's right. Clark, Kaldur had a point. We may have to accept the worst case scenario about Evelyn Blackwell. She may have succumbed and died," Batman answered looking at the Kryptonian. "It's a reality nobody here wants to face. Not with the fact that she seemed very ready to get her revenge on Dylas for murdering her older cousin. But Evelyn hasn't been in the field in years. She may have been unarmed as well. The child is too young to be dead but still."
"Batman," Nightwing called out and they all walked to the monitor. "This just came in." Everyone watched the screen pop to life with a typing symbol.
Heard you guys got pummeled. I'm not shocked. Watch your backs. Hunter is dangerous. -T.T.T.T.B
"Who's TTTTB?" Talia was curious and Nightwing was doing something with his fingers before he gasped and tried to lock on the signal before he got no hits.
"Techna the Technologically Terrorizing Brat," Nightwing explained. "Kaldur and I called her that when she first joined the Team. It's Evelyn trying to send us a signal."
"We can't lock onto it?"
"No. It's a burner with no GPS on the phone. Evelyn must have found a safe spot to send a signal. But she won't stay that way forever. She will have most likely got rid of the burner the moment her message escaped the phone. She's running away from Hunter."
"Hunter must have been ordered to capture her," Kaldur answered.
"Then we find her," Diana answered. Batman though shook his head and got rid of the message on the computer. "Bruce!"
"Evelyn would be in more danger if we sent heroes out. If this Hunter character spots us, she'll realize that Evelyn sent a message and will work that much harder to find her. Now that we know Evelyn is alive, we keep our eyes peeled for any messages she leaves. She might eventually hint where she is so we can rescue her from the clutches of the Blackwells."
After everyone left, Nightwing looked at Batman and he nodded at the Bludhaven man. "It's not right. We sent her in and now she has to find ways to get information to us."
"You can bet she'll have to attack her base soon enough. We'll use that as time for an information exchange. You can be ready to give her something that she can use to worm her way farther into Dylas and his team."
"Bruce, you knew she didn't want this. Why'd you make me ask her to go in? Her father is the cause for all her paranoia."
"I asked you to make her go in because she's the only one who can get close to Dylas. If she has to take prisoners we can do that. But my next concern is her right hand men. She'll need protection."
"M'gann and Conner already volunteered to do it. A telepath and a superhuman are the best protection she'll have," he answered calmly.
The darkness settled over all cities for once, while Dylas was planning how to continue. "She did well. She had the heroes on edge. Nobody knew how to attack her since her moves didn't reflect those of a hero or a villain," a man informed Dylas.
"Good. Maybe we will see about a new attack on a new city with new orders," he mused before Evelyn walked in looking relaxed. "Evelyn. Well done out there my little Hunter."
"Thank you father. I have a request though. A lot of my hiding was done by my protector and right hand. May I bring them into our organization. It would make the missions that much easier," she informed her father. "To reveal I'm not one to mess with."
"Sir, with all due respect, she's been around heroes."
"I have been around them. My protectors aren't heroes though," she spat glaring at him. "Father."
"Bring them. It is clear that they have certainly helped you in being wary and after all, your connections may just help us get you to full strength."
"Of course," she responded. "I'm going onto the town as just plain Evelyn. There's a way to find them," she warned walking out and taking off her tracer in her room before returning to the surface world. She stopped in an alley and waited for 5 minutes before Nightwing and Kaldur emerged with M'gann and Conner.
"Nice timing. How hard was it?"
"Easy. My dad believes me. Now who is going in with me as my protector and my right hand?"
"Meet your protector Shayera or Shay for short since you would have met her young," Nightwing began revealing M'gann had shifted. "Then your right hand lugnut. Never made a name."
"Zach," she decided and Conner looked uncomfortable. "To be fair, he doesn't know when I met you. Before or after his death. Consider it an honor I'm using my cousin's old nickname on you." Conner looked nervous but nodded as he was also shifted thanks to M'gann.
"You have your roles to play. Don't be afraid to hit us. You hit hard and fast if you have to," Nightwing responded. She nodded and followed a path she made back to her hideout where her father was waiting for them.
"Ah. You were meeting with them."
"Yes. Father, meet the reasons I never abandoned my training," Evelyn responded.
"It will be an honor to serve you," Zach (Conner) responded. He then motioned towards Shayera (M'gann) and chuckled. "Shayera was able to uncover more about your daughter and we've been with her since you were separated."
"For that you have my gratitude. For protecting my daughter," he answered. "Welcome to the Assassins Creed."
