bopdog111: Well for now it is time for Riley's second Ultrasound, and to finally see what gender the twins are.

Riley was still sleeping with Atem awake who was tying a business tie Riley woke up to feeling the twins kick but not hard enough to hurt her.

"Huh, oh good morning Riley." Atem smiled seeing her wake up.

"Morning..." Riley yawned. "These little kickers woke me."

Atem frowned. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah. They weren't hurting." Riley smiled.

Atem smiled nodding, "Glad to hear that. You know it's strange."

"What is?" Riley inquired as she sat up.

"When we were married your belly was really small. And now it has grown as the babies have grown." Atem smiled. "It sure is a miracle."

Riley blushed at that. "I had to make room for the babies."

"I know." Atem smiled. "Why don't you check at the mirror to see?"

Riley blushed before nodding as she walked over to a mirror. She looked at it to see herself in her pink PJs, and with her belly at clear 6 months with her PJ top getting a bit smaller which shows a small patch of her abdomen. Atem snuck up behind her and gently embraced her.

Riley flinched a little.

"You look an angel like this Riley." Atem smiled as they looked at each other at the mirror.

Riley smiled and gently kissed him. Atem kissed her back.

"... What do you want them to be?" Riley asked.

"I don't care what they are. What happens is that they are my kids." Atem smiled.

"You're right." Riley smiled. "We're finding out today though."

"Yeah with your second Ultrasound. Anyone you want to bring along with us?" Atem smiled. "Last time we had Mary, Liz, and Wendy."

At that Riley looked down sadly. "Nobody."

Atem embraced her. She leaned against him. The twins then started to kick. Riley smiled softly. "We should get ready to go."

Atem nodded asking, "You need your feet rubbed before we get going?"

"I'm ok." she answered.

"You sure?" Atem asked her.

Riley nodded. "Physically anyway."

"Okay just sit down on the bed while I gt things ready." Atem told her.

She sat down only to frown. "Will we be ok?"

"Of course we will." Atem smiled going to a drawer.

Riley just looked down uncertainly. When Atem finished he offered her a hand, "Ready to go?"

"Ready as I can be." She answered.

With that they walked off to the hospital.

They arrived as Atem sat Riley on a chair as he walked to the receptionist.

"Yes?" the receptionist asked.

"Atem, and Riley Sakaki ma'am. Were here for my wife's second Ultrasound." Atem smiled.

"Third door on your left." the receptionist said bluntly.

Atem nodded, "Thanks."

He walked as he helped Riley up, and walked her to the door. They walked into the room before sitting down.

"How do you feel?" Atem asked her.

"Physically Fine. Not emotionally though." Riley admitted.

Atem rubbed her back, "We'll figure out somehow."

"I hope..." Riley whispered before the door opened.

They turned to see it was the doctor that gave Riley her first Ultrasound.

"Good morning you two." the doctor smiled. "How are you feeling?"

"We've been better." Riley answered. "Do I need to get on the bed again?"

"Yes ma'am." the doctor nodded.

Atem helped Riley onto the bed. The doctor pulled her shirt up to expose her belly, and asked, "This is your sixth month is it?"

"Yes." Riley nodded.

"Are the twins doing okay?" the doctor asked her getting the screen set.

"I hope so." Atem nodded.

"Have you experience Braxton Hicks?" the doctor asked.

"What?" Riley asked.

"I'll take that as a no." the doctor said. "Braxton Hicks are small contractions that helps prepare for the birth. You'll know when you'll experience it from your stomach tightening."

"Oh, no I haven't had any of those." Riley answered before pausing. "Um... how badly can stress hurt them?"

"Like in a total panic mode." the doctor answered. "But don't worry. Since you're passed your 20th week from your fifth month you won't have a miscarriage from the stress."

Riley nodded before laying down. The doctor then placed the gel on her belly. Riley shivered feeling it before frowning.

"Okay let's see what we got." the doctor said running the device over as she looked at the screen.

Atem looked but Riley turned away from the screen. The doctor looked before smiling turning the screen to where they can see two grown babies.

"Wow." Atem smiled.

The doctor smiled before noticing what Riley's doing, "Ma'am? Don't you want to see your babies?"

"... No." Riley answered sadly.

Atem looked sad as he take her hand.

"Is something wrong?" the doctor asked concerned. "Is it something I can help with?"

"I really wish you could." Riley admitted. "But I doubt it's possible."

"Can you at least take a look Riley?" Atem requested.

Riley looked uncertain before nodding and turning to the screen. She sees the twins were there. Riley smiled gently seeing them before placing a hand on her stomach.

"Would you like to know their gender?" the doctor smiled.

"Yes." Atem nodded.

The doctor checked on before smiling, "A boy, and a girl each."

Riley teared up hearing that.

"You hear that Ri?" Atem smiled.

"Yeah... I did." Riley answered sadly.

Atem took her hand.

"Atem... what if something happens?" Riley asked fearfully.

Atem kissed her forehead. "It's okay Riley."

She didn't say anything but just had a scared look on her face.

"Thanks ma'am." Atem told the doctor.

The doctor smiled, "It's no trouble. Just come back during her eighth month for her final Ultrasound."

"We will." Atem smiled as they left the hospital.

Atem frowned at the scared look. "It's gonna be okay Riley."

"But we couldn't help Mary, and you saw what happened when Rin found out." Riley told her. "What if something happens to our babies?"

"It's gonna be okay. We will make things right with her, but remember they'll be fine." Atem said to her.

Riley just started to softly cry. "Nothing good ever happens."

Atem hugged her, "...Come on. We're heading to the Synchro Dimension."

Riley just nodded quietly. They arrived as Atem knocked on Rin's door. The door opened.

"Huh, oh hi uncle Atem." Will smiled seeing him.

Atem asked him, "Where's your parents?"

"Mom and dad ran out to get some food, they should be home soon though." Will answered.

Atem nodded hearing that, "Can we come in?"

"Yeah." Will said stepping back to let them inside.

They walked as Atem laid Riley down on a sofa.

"Do you want any water aunt Riley?" Will asked.

Riley nodded with a soft smile. Will went into the kitchen to get her a cup of water. Atem gave soft kiss to Riley's forehead, "It will be okay Ri. They'll be okay. And this time we're getting to the bottom of this."

Riley nodded before Will came back with the water.

"Is something wrong?" Will asked. "You sounded upset."

"Well Will... There are things you need to know about Mary." Atem told him.

"Huh?" Will asked in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"She told us that she had a crush on you." Atem told him. "And she didn't know how to say it."

At that moment the door opened and Yugo and Rin walked in.

"Atem, Riley?" Yugo asked. "What are you two doing here?"

"I decided to get to the bottom of this." Atem answered. "He has to know, and Riley is scared that something can happen to the babies, and she won't stop till we get this sorted out."

Yugo glared at him. "So you're attacking Will?"

"Yugo... Can I talk to you for a second?" Atem asked him.

"Why?" Yugo questioned.

"We need to talk. Alone." Atem said stern.

"We'll be right back." Yugo mentioned before walking upstairs with Atem.

Atem closed the door as he looked down, "Look Yugo I was just really worried, and concerned."

"Don't be, everything's fine." Yugo said.

"Yugo, you don't get it." Atem told him. "Ever since what happened Riley was really scared that something can happen to the twins. Unless Will knows, and that everything gets sorted out by getting that Parasite out of her head then she'll keep this up, and something will happen."

"What do you mean? You're not suggesting Riley will do something crazy are you?" Yugo asked before his expression darkened. "Wait, you're blaming Will for all of this aren't you?"

"I'm not blaming him on this. I'm just worried that something will happen to Riley." Atem said looking down.

"Then why are you here?" Yugo questioned.

"If Will knows then maybe just maybe he'll convince Mary to take that Parasite out of her head." Atem answered.

"And then what, she ends up heartbroken again and does something even more drastic?" Yugo questioned. "Effectively turning my son into an accomplice to suicide?"

"Of course not... I don't know what else to do." Atem said laying tears. "I want the old Mary back. And want Riley to be happy all the time. Is that so hard to ask?"

"... There's nothing anyone can do Atem." Yugo whispered. "Just... try to accept this is how things will be from now on, and take care of your family so nothing bad happens to them."

"I'm desperate Yugo. Really, really desperate. I want that Parasite out more then anything! It's not like I can travel back in time to where Mary confessed before this happened!" Atem yelled out.

"My son's happy, I'm not going to take that from him Atem." Yugo told him.

"I want Riley, and Mary to be happy as well Yugo." Atem told him. "Mary isn't since she is now emotionless, and Riley can't due to this."

"Things don't always go the way you want Atem!" Yugo snapped. "Maybe you just need to live with that."

Atem flinched as he looked down. "...I know... I can't stay trapped like this..."

With that he wiped his eyes.

"Maybe you and Riley should go home." Yugo told him.

Atem didn't say anything but nod walking downstairs. Yugo followed before frowning slightly as Atem and Riley left. Atem was looking down as they arrived. Riley was tearing up but walked up to their room to lie down in bed.

'How could I be so dumb, and stupid?' Atem thought holding his head.

Weeks later...

The couple were still snoozing together.

Ring Ring Ring.

"H-Huh?" Atem was startled awake as he yawned answering the phone, "Hello?"

"Atem... it's Declan are you busy?"

"No I just woke up." Atem answered.

"I see... well if you have a chance come to LID." Declan told him before hanging up.

Atem placed the phone back as he turned to Riley kissing her forehead, and rubbed her belly before taking a shower.

Sometime later...

After leaving a note for Riley to find he walked to LID.

"Mr. Sakaki, you're expected in Mr. Akaba's office." the receptionist told him.

Atem walked as he knocked on the door.

"Come in." Declan said calmly.

Atem went in, and sat down. A few minutes after that Yuya, Zuzu, Yuto, and Lulu walked in. Atem looked over.

"Atem." Yuto nodded.

"Yuto. Yuya. Girls." Atem nodded back.

"We have a... dilemma." Declan stated. "One I believe you're all familiar with."

Atem looked down.

"Atem if you'd rather leave you can." Declan told him.

"Declan I need to know... I have caused this thinking it would solve itself... I didn't do anything." Atem told him.

"People make mistakes Atem." Zuzu mentioned.

"Do they go to the extreme such as this?" Atem asked with tears welling.

"They can." Lulu nodded.

"I want the old Mary back. And I want Riley to not worry." Atem told them sitting down covering his face. "Is that so hard to ask?"

"Riley's an expecting mother, she'd worry either way." Zuzu pointed out.

Atem turned to her now confused.

"Mothers worry about their children, it's normal." Lulu told him.

"Why didn't I get that sooner?" Atem asked. "I am such an... idiot!"

"No you're not." Yuya smiled.

"But this doesn't change about Mary." Atem looked down. "I told her she'll find someone else, and then she placed a Parasite in her head."

"Did anyone help her?" Declan asked.

"Yuri, Celina, and me kept on trying." Atem answered.

"If you did everything to help and still couldn't you can't blame yourself." Yuya mentioned.

"Mary is emotionless now Yuya... And I didn't-didn't..." Atem stammered.

"What can you do for her by sitting around miserably like this?" Yuto asked.

"Try to think to make it up to her." Atem answered covering his face.

"What have you come up with?" Declan asked.

"Things that can make her happy... But she can't." Atm answered.

"Did you try anything before this happened?" Lulu asked.

Atem didn't answer before shaking no.

"Well what did you want to try?" Zuzu asked.

"Pulling an act." Atem answered. "With the Archfiends."

"How about finding someone for her?" Yuto asked.

"I haven't tried that. I thought this would be a problem that solves itself when she finds one herself." Atem said.

"She's Yuri and Celina's daughter, finding someone won't be easy for her Atem." Yuya admitted.

"...I better start looking should I?" Atem asked.

"While you can, you're almost a father yourself after all." Declan reminded him.

"I know." Atem nodded.

"Well, then that brings us to the other reason I wanted you to come here." Declan mentioned before pressing a button. "They can come in."

People entered as they looked. It was Yuri, Celina, Yugo, Rin, and Yusho.

"Guys." Atem nodded.

They nodded before Yusho smiled.

"So we're going to start it this year then?" he asked

"Yes, it's been a long time and people may have started to forget what happened all those years ago." Declan answered simply.

"Start what?" Atem asked.

"Starting this year, an annual reminder of the Dimensional War... by having the Dimensions relive it." Declan stated before raising a hand. "Before you say that sounds insane, not the actual war but a festival or event to help remind everyone of what nearly happened and help prevent it from ever happening again."

Atem looked down, "Will it involve our backstories?"

"I know that would be hard but you have people who will support you through that Atem. People like your brothers, Yoko and me, and of course Riley and your kids." Yusho said before gently hugging him.

Atem hugged his back. Yusho smiled.

"...Thanks very much guys..." Atem told them. "I learned a really important lesson..."

'Better late than never.' Chaos King Archfiend told him.

"I'll see you guys soon." Atem said nodding, and waving bye before walking off.

They waved back. He walked back to his house, and entered. The moment he did Riley hugged him trembling. Surprised Atem hugged him back.

"Atem... they're not kicking." Riley said fearfully.

"What?" Atem asked shocked.

Riley nodded while shaking and telling him about a terrible nightmare where something went wrong and the babies didn't make it and it woke her up screaming only to notice Atem was gone and the babies weren't kicking.

"Riley calm down. It's okay. Their okay." Atem told him.

Riley looked up but was still shaking.

"Maybe there not really active." Atem suggested. "Try thinking happy things. Like... How we first met?"

Riley blushed at the thought only to jump. "They started."

Atem knelling, and rubbing his hand over her abdomen, "See? There okay just need a happy thought."

Riley nodded. "Yeah... yeah you're right."

Atem then placed a small kiss on it, "Good morning you two. You doing okay in mommy?"

"I think so." Riley nodded.

Atem then placed his ear closing his eyes with a smile.

It was faint but he heard a heartbeat, or two alternating ones.

"I can hear their heartbeats." Atem smiled to her. "Their doing okay."

Riley smiled with tears in her eyes. He placed another kiss right at her belly button before standing up, and kissed Riley. Riley kissed him back before crying out in pain.

'Might be a Braxton Hicks.' Atem thought as he sat her down on a chair, and rubbed her back, "Okay Riley just breath... It's just a Braxton Hicks."

Riley nodded in confirmation before blushing. "Wait does this mean..."

"Yeah. It means it's preparing your body for them to come." Atem nodded.

Riley blushed. "Can I have a minute alone?"

Atem nodding walking to another room. Riley took a breath before walking to the phone and calling Zuzu.

"Yes? Sakaki Residence?" Zuzu's voice answered.

"Zuzu, it's Riley." Riley said. "Um... can I ask you something?"

"What is it?" Zuzu asked her.

"Is... is having a baby embarrassing?" Riley asked shyly.

"...Braxton Hicks?" Zuzu guessed why she asked.

"... Yeah, just now." Riley answered.

"Well... There are two ways you should chose. The second was less embarrassing, but if an emergency happens you can't make it. The first is the most, and you can handle emergencies." Zuzu admitted. "So yeah especially if it's a male doctor who's delivering."

"... What are they?" Riley asked.

"The first is the hospital where when your ready nurses, and a doctor will be there to assist in anyway they can." Zuzu answered. "The second is at the house where there can be a midwife, or just Atem to assist you out."

"... Thanks." Riley said nervously before hanging up and blushing.

The twins started to kick softly as she placed her hand on her stomach.

"Riley?" Atem asked from the room.

"You can come in now." Riley answered.

Atem walked as he asked, "Is the Braxton Hicks over?"

"For now." Riley nodded.

"Well... I had been thinking on how the twins are delivered actually." Atem admitted.

Riley turned bright red. "Oh..."

"And I want to know what you think." Atem told her. "House Birth or the Hospital. If it was to me I pick House Birth since it does protect your dignity."

"It's embarrassing though." Riley admitted. "I know we... well you know, but it's still embarrassing."

"Well House Birth is the least with just me, and the Midwife or other people you want along to comfort you, and such." Atem told her.

Riley blushed but nodded. "Ok."

"House Birth then?" Atem asked.

"... Yeah." Riley nodded.

"Okay then we should figure out the plan, and call a Midwife." Atem smiled nodding.

"Yeah." Riley nodded with a blush.

Atem patted her back.

Ulrich362: Well... maybe things will work out? There's a plan at least.

bopdog111: Well Riley is nearing the end of her pregnancy.

Ulrich362: Looks like it.
