Chapter 19

Arc 1

Sunstone City Docks

Kimberly kneeled down behind the cop cars that were currently absorbing all the bullets that were being shot at her and her partner, Joey Adams. They had got a call from the dock manager reporting some suspicious activity which turned out to be The Monarchy importing some new drugs. The two attempted to try to stop them but quickly realized they were outnumbered causing them to duck under cover while she called for reinforcements.

"You called for back-up right?" Joey said as he stood up shooting a few shots at the targets before having to kneel back down.

"Something like that." She answered as he peeked over looking at her with a look of confusion. She stood up from her kneeling position and took a few shots at the shooters before having to go back down in a kneeling position.

And just in time, Sunstone City's resident hero landed in front of the car absorbing all of the bullets that were being shot at him. He smirked as all of the bullets deflected off as they hit his skin.

"You guys stay behind me, I got it covered." He said as he started walking forward while they kept shooting with their aim directed solely on the bulletproof hero.

"This is your backup." Joey said to his partner. Kimberly smiled and shrugged as she lifted her head looking over the car hood watching her Superpowered son in action.

Cedric walked with a purpose rushing over to one of the gunmen in a blink and grabbing the gun out of his hands before lifting the gunman into the air by his shirt and throwing him into a stack of boxes. He turned his head to another gunman looking at him with a frown as the gunman continued to shoot at him. He rushed over to him putting his hand in front of the muzzle and hitting the gunman with a right hand knocking him out cold. He rose up into the air looking out amongst the others. His eyes glowed before beams shot out putting the others down.

He descended down onto the ground looking at all of the damage he had done. He frowned as he walked over to a white van with the backdoors open. Cedric pulled the doors open revealing open boxes of teddy bears. Cedric looked at the box confused before he grabbed one and ripped it apart to see if anything was in it. A small packet of white pills fell to the ground.

He kneeled down grabbing the packet taking a look at its contents.

"Well that's new." Kimberly said walking towards Cedric with Joey following behind.

"They usually stick to cocaine and heroin but this, this is an area they haven't dabbled into." Joey said, taking the packet from Cedric's hand, making Cedric turn to look at him with a frown.

"One thing about Crime Organizations like them, they're always evolving. And something tells me they have help." Cedric said looking at the packet Joey held.

"We gotta call this in." Kimberly said, pulling out her phone.

"Well, if you guys need me give me a call. But stay safe." Cedric said walking away before bolting up into the sky flying away leaving the two there to investigate the drugs.

Cedric was rushing back into the office holding a latte in his hand. He was about 20 minutes late from his lunch break and was hoping that no one had noticed at all. After he had saved his mother, he had to go have his lunch with Madison which ended up being nice. Dating a powerful woman like Madison had its perks and its downsides. One of them having to be around her brother. And another one was having to be around the rich, selfish one-percenters.

"Well, well, well. Looks like someone's late."

"I was hoping no one noticed."

"You're safe, he's on the phone with his wife and he has been for a while. Usually when she calls it's good news."

"Alright if you say so."

"I got an idea."

"An idea? I don't like the idea of this. Usually it involves me getting the short end of the stick."

"Really?"

"Yes, really."

"Never noticed."

"Of course, you've never noticed, it doesn't affect you."

"But any who, this idea pertains to the Black-and-Blue Blur. What if you were able to get your girlfriend to convince Miles Maverick to host an event in his name, forcing him to publicly appear. I think it could work." Kala was putting Cedric in a tough spot. As the Black-and-Blue Hero, it would be dangerous for him to be publicly seen in an area with so many civilians . In his short time as the hero, he's made enemies and those enemies would be salivating at the chance to take him out with a group of people watching. Think about the headlines: "Sunstone City's Black-and-Blue Fallen Hero". But at the same time, it would be a good chance to show that he was okay with being in the public eye and that he wanted to be a part of the community that he called his home.

As Cedric, he couldn't stand the idea of asking his girlfriend to basically organize an event just so he could appear as his secret identity and help out his best friend. It was just an idea that he didn't like. But on the opposite side, it would show Kala that he was willing to help her advance her career.

Either way, someone would be helped and someone would be hurt.

"Kala, I'm sorry but no. I can't do that."

"Please?"

"Kala, no. I don't want to have to ask my girlfriend to have an event just so you could get a quote or something." Kala sighed as she bit her lip looking down at the floor.

"Okay, I get it." She said plainly before walking away back to her desk leaving Cedric standing there looking on with a frown. Kala probably felt that in that moment her best friend didn't have her back anymore but it was quite the opposite. He just wanted to have his girlfriend's back as well.

SCPD Precinct

Currently the two detectives that were saved earlier by the Sunstone City Hero were sitting at their desk writing a report for the evidence they manage to find. Since she managed to get her son to save their asses, Joey had been questioning Kimberly every chance he got, he wanted to know just how in the hell, she got the black-and-blue blur to come save them. And the simple because he's a hero and that's what he does wouldn't suffice. He wanted answers and he was intended to get them.

"You think there's any connections between The Monarchy and the drugs we found."

"I couldn't put it past them. It seems everyone has hidden connections these days." Kimberly exhaled and simply ignored his statement and continued on her work. He was very dedicated to finding out the hidden connection between Kimberly and the hero.

"You and the hero-"

"Joey, it's like I've been saying. It's simple, he came to save us because he's a hero."

"I asked you if you called back-up and you said you did. And he showed up. So how the hell is he your back-up?" Joey asked as Kimberly looked up.

"Well, I want to say thank you to you two." They heard making them look over to see SCPD Lieutenant Rodney Harrison walking over to them with a folder in hand.

"What for?"

"It's because of you two that we were able to keep those drugs off the streets. We have a suspect. We don't have an official name but the one we got is Dr. Feelgood. He's a drug lord known for his drug called Angel Tears."

"You mean Angel Dust?" Joey attempted to correct.

"You would think so but no, Angel Tears, it's a more advanced type of PCP. Anyway, I'm gonna be putting you two on this case. I want this to be your primary focus. Got it?"

"Got it sir." Kimberly said nodding along. Rodney turned his head and looked at Joey looking for an answer. Joey exhaled and nodded his head. Rodney handed them the folder and turned around walking away leaving the two there.

"So do you want to talk about my back-up or do you want to work?" Kimberly asked as Joey rolled his eyes.

Cedric sat at his desk waiting for the clock to strike 6. When it did they would be good to go home which meant he could try to talk with Kala. She's been ignoring him ever since she proposed her idea and he said no. It must have been something he said that made her react this way but he didn't know what he said. He was simply just saying no and it made her mad. If she wanted a quote, she was gonna get one and a whole lot more. He looked at the clock seeing it was currently 5:58. He looked around the office seeing everyone looking down; most of them were in their bags or on their phones trying to make the last two minutes of work pass by. Cedric quickly wrote a message on a sticky note and stood up walking around the corner to make sure no one saw him before he ran in a blur placing the sticky note on her desktop and making a few papers fly off desks in the process.

Kala looked up with a frown seeing a sticky note on her computer that read "Meet me on the roof" with no name on it. She grabbed it with a frown and sighed before getting up, gathering her things and making her way up to the roof. Was it safe to go up to the rooftop alone? No, but was she a woman who did what was safe.

Sunstone City Herald Rooftop

After a ride in the elevator taking her up to the highest floor in the building and a few flights of stairs, she was walking through the door leading her up on the rooftop. She looked around with a confused frown until her gaze focused on a hero. The hero. The Black-and-Blue Blur standing on the edge of the building looking over the city.

"It-It-It's you." She stuttered with excitement.

"Yeah, it's me. I heard you've been looking for me."

"Everyone has. Everyone in the city. Everyone around the world. You're wanted by every major media outlet."

"I am? Didn't even notice."

"Yeah, I bet. You've been a pretty busy man. Saving everyone that needs it."

"Everyone needs a guardian angel. I'm just happy I could be there to help."

"If everyone has one. Whose yours?"

"I'm not ready to reveal that just yet but in due time, maybe I will."

"I have so many questions."

"Well, ask away. I'll answer what I can."

"What's your name?"

"Can't answer that. That's up to you, I'm pretty sure you can come up with something better than the Black-and-Blue Blur."

"I'll try. What's your favorite color?"

"I'm pretty sure you can answer that one Ms. Rose."

"Blue, duh. Where are you from? Are you from Earth? Are you from Sunstone City?"

"I was born and raised here. Let's just say I'm blessed with lucky genetics giving me these abilities. My parents raised me to help people whether I can or can't. Over the years, I've seen a lot of men, women, children get hurt and if I can help it, I want to stop that pain. I want to make sure that people can live safely and happily. I want to make the world a better place. Some people would call me a hero. I would just say I'm a guy that's doing what's right."

"How big are you… um… how tall are you?"

"About 6'3. Have you ever flown before?"

"In a plane?"

"No, Ms. Rose." He chuckled as he held a hand out for her to grab. Surprisingly, Cedric was more confident being the Black-and-Blue Blur than talking to her as Cedric. She looked up into his glowing blue eyes and grabbed a hold of the hand. He pulled her close to him and started slowly floating off the ground. He looked and watched as she started looking down at the ground.

"It helps if you don't look down." He suggested making her look back up at him once more. He held onto her as he flew through the air giving her a bit of insight on what he experienced everyday. Being able to share his ability to switch her was just as rewarding as having them. He rolled over in the air lifting Kala in the air making her smile as she felt the air colliding with her skin.

"Where to Ms. Rose?"

"My apartment right over that building." She said pointing a finger over a 10 story building. It was really a trick question. Cedric already knew where her apartment was, he just couldn't let her know that he already knew. That would create more questions than he needed. He rolled back over in the air, flying over the building and flying to her apartment landing on the rooftop.

"Fun, right?" He asked with a smile as he released his grip on her. She slowly did the same lingering to feel his touch.

"Yeah, I see why you love it so much."

"Well, Goodnight Ms. Rose."

"Goodnight." She said as he floated up in the air still focusing on her before he quickly bolted up in the air quickly flying away.

Altiplano

Natalia Rodriguez sat at a metal table in Altiplano, the most secure prison in Mexico. The home to one of the most dangerous men that she knew in her life. There was a lot in her life that she kept hidden because if people knew, it would change everything. Inside this prison was one of the things that she kept hidden. She looked down at her hands rubbing them together nervously before the doors opened allowing a tall hispanic man with long black hair that reaches to his shoulders with a black goatee and mustache. He had emerald green colored eyes and wore an orange jumpsuit with handcuffs and shackles around his ankles. Behind him were two hispanic guards watching his every move. They walked him over to the chair and pushed him down aggressively making him grunt. He looked up at the woman in front of him and chuckled seeing her.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't my lovely sister." He said, making Natalia sigh.

A/N: Damn folks, it's been a minute and since I've been gone for awhile I hope this chapter makes up for a bit. I got a promotion at my job which takes away some of the personal time I have. So updates are gonna be more sporadically. As much as I love this, it doesn't pay me so at the end of the day, sometimes I have to put work above this. It doesn't take away my love and my passion for fanfiction. Trust me, it doesn't. So I'm still gonna try to put out at least 2 or 3 chapters a month. So until next time.
