Disclaimer: I don't own Percy Jackson (though I'd love to) or Hamilton: An American Musical, which belong to Rick Riordan and Lin Manuel Miranda, respectively. Also please note that there is a section here where Annabeth talks about the statistics of dying on a plane. That information was taken from 19 News, and the article written by Sara Goldenberg. It's not direct quotes, but the information was taken from there, and some of it isn't in my own words.
A/N: Hello, my lovely readers. Guess what? We are past 700 views! This is so amazing. Please remember:Percy lives with Grover, not Luke. It's still the same apartment building, and Luke has an apartment there too.
Percy POV:
Percy stared out the window as the taxi drove to the JFK airport. It had been two weeks since the late night meeting with Annabeth, and they were flying to D.C for the Poetry Jam. They would be staying for three days. The taxi slowed to a stop, and Percy grabbed his bag from the trunk.
Percy walked out into the freezing night air. The semi-warmth of October had quickly slipped into the bitter cold of November, and Percy really should have brought a warmer jacket. Oh well.
He lugged his duffel bag and backpack over to the check in, and then headed to security once he had finished.
Percy was just sending his backpack down the conveyor belt when someone tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey Perce," Annabeth greeted him.
"Oh hey, Bananabeth,"
Annabeth rolled her eyes.
"Shut up,"
"Error: File not found,"
Annabeth exasperatedly rolled her eyes again, sighing.
"What am I ever going to do with you?"
"I think you'll survive,"
"No, I won't. I'll be dead by the end of the plane ride,"
"Excuse me?" the lady behind them, "Would you mind moving? You're holding up the line."
"Oh, sorry," Percy apologized. He sent the rest of his stuff down the conveyor belt, and then walked through the security scanning booth.
After Percy got out, he picked up his stuff, then waited for Annabeth to come out. They grabbed their stuff and headed towards the gate. Along the way, they picked up a bunch of friends from the cast. By the time they reached the gate, they had picked up Leo, Nico, Reyna, Jason, Frank, Will, Hazel, Piper, and Calypso.
As they reached the gate, Percy took a longing look at the Auntie Anne's sitting next to them. Annabeth looked at him.
"You want a pretzel?" Annabeth asked.
"Yeah, sure. You wanna go with the others?"
"Sure," Annabeth agreed.
"Hey guys? You want to get pretzels from Auntie Anne's?" Percy offered. Everyone took one look at the delicious pretzels sitting in the store, and they all nodded. Everyone trooped over to the shop, and ordered their pretzels, and then munched on them in the seats by the gate ("Leo, that much mustard isn't healthy for anyone," "I'm just special, Sunshine.")
The group met up with everyone else in the cast in the chairs by the gate. When they all started boarding, Percy stopped at the entrance.
"What?" Annabeth asked.
"I've just never been on a plane before," Percy confessed.
"Trust me. You'll be fine," Annabeth reassured him. Percy wasn't convinced, but he took a deep breath, and stepped forward onto the plane. Percy looked around for Annabeth, but she had been pulled away by Piper and Hazel, and they were avidly discussing their seats.
Speaking of that, where was his seat? Percy glanced down at his ticket. 15B. Percy squeezed past all the people, until he was near row fifteen. 13… 14… 15! Here we are, Percy thought, So 15B is… the window seat. Great. Now, I can see just how high up we're going to be.
Percy had just lifted his bag into the overhead compartment when someone tapped him on the shoulder. It was Annabeth, Piper, and Jason, a rather unlikely trio.
"Hey…?" Percy asked.
"Hi, Perce. So, Jason was originally sitting next to you and I was sitting next to Piper, but they want to sit next to each other, so would you mind if we switched and I was next to you?" Annabeth inquired.
"Yeah, that'd be fine, I guess."
"Great," Piper responded, grabbing Jason and pulling him over to their seats, three rows back. Annabeth lifted her bag into the overhead compartment, and sat down next to Percy.
"Please fasten your seatbelts as we prepare for take off," the flight attendant's voice instructed over the loudspeaker.
Percy and Annabeth buckled up their seat belts, and stuffed their backpacks under the seat in front of them, like the flight attendant had shown them earlier.
The plane began to move down the runway, faster and faster until there was a lurching sensation in Percy's stomach and the people outside the airport were getting smaller and smaller. Before long, the airport itself wasn't much bigger than Percy's fist.
Percy clutched the arms of his seat, his knuckles white, and stared anxiously out the window.
"Hey, Percy. Look at me. You'll be fine," Annabeth told him, "Listen. There have been thousands of successful plane trips and thousands of people who landed safely. Chances are, you won't be any different."
"It'd be just my luck if the place crashed. What if we're the odd ones out?"
"Stop thinking about the what ifs. Think about the cold, hard facts that say you will be safe in a D.C airport in a couple hours. The odds of even being in a plane crash are about one in eleven million. For years, experts have been saying that flying commercially is safer than driving. Have you ever known anyone that's died from a car crash, or have you been nearly killed from a car crash?"
"...No," Percy lied. He didn't want to bring that up right now.
"And if flying commercially -which is what we're doing- is safer than driving, then that fact alone should make you feel better. If doesn't, then think about this: Your chances of dying while driving are one in one hundred two, the fifth highest cause of death for Americans. Your chances of dying on a train are one in one hundred seventy eight thousand, seven hundred forty one.
"How does this matter?" Percy interrupted.
"Just listen," Annabeth implored him, "Guess what? Your chances of dying on an airplane are two hundred five thousand, five hundred forty two. That includes all planes - from private jets, to commercial planes, to small twin engine planes. The odds of dying on a commercial plane because of some kind of accident or crash are one in twenty nine point four million. Even if the plane does crash, you have more than a ninety five percent chance of surviving."
Percy thought over what she had said.
"Okay. Maybe we'll be fine." Percy agreed.
"Now, close the window, grab a magazine, or your phone or a book or something, and just relax. Maybe sleep or something." Annabeth suggested.
"Thank you,"
"Don't mention it." Annabeth pulled out a book and began to read. Percy leaned against the wall, trying to make himself comfortable, and promptly went to sleep.

Annabeth POV:
About half an hour later, a flight attendant came by with a cart of snacks.
"Could I have a bag of blue chips and a bag of popcorn chips?" Annabeth asked.
"Sure," the flight attendant responded, handing her the snacks. Annabeth munched on her popcorn chips as she listened to music.
About fifteen minutes later, Percy blearily opened his eyes.
"Wha-? Annabeth? Why didn't you wake me up? I want chips!" Percy complained.
"Oh, stop whining. Here, I got you a bag of blue chips," Annabeth said, tossing him the bag.
"Blue chips? Cool!" Percy exclaimed. Annabeth rolled her eyes fondly. He was such an idiot sometimes. Well, more like all the time.
They laughed and talked until the captain's voice sounded over the loudspeaker.
"This is your captain speaking. We have arrived in Washington DC, at 3:22 PM. It is approximately 52 degrees outside fahrenheit…" The captain droned on and on as Percy looked at her in excitement.
"I did it! I made it!" Percy said excitedly.
"Yeah, you did, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth answered, squeezing his hand. They sat there in silence for a moment, until Annabeth jumped up, saying, "Okay, we should get our bags,"
Annabeth reached up and grabbed her bag from the overhead compartment, then passed Percy his.
"Thanks," Percy said as they left the plane with the others. They all caught taxis and headed to the hotel. Piper, Hazel, and Annabeth were in one taxi.
"How was your flight with Jason?" Annabeth asked.
"I'll tell you later. What's more important was your spending about two hours getting Percy over his fear of flying."
Annabeth blushed. "It's nothing!"
"No way! It's so sweet!" Piper insisted. Annabeth rolled her eyes (A/N: lol I just realized I made Annabeth do that like four times this chapter) and spent the next fifteen minutes insisting that she and Percy were nothing more than friends, and she did not like him, she liked Luke. Honestly, Annabeth felt sorry for the taxi driver.
Towards the end of the drive, Piper leaned forward, with a slightly evil grin on her face.
"I have a piece of juicy, juicy gossip I think you'll enjoy quite a bit, Annie." Piper began.
"Don't call me that."
"Oooh, what is it?" Hazel asked.
"Say Piper is the best friend I've ever had. She's so much more superior than us lowly commoners."
"No."
"No way!"
"You have to." Piper continued.
Annabeth just raised an eyebrow.
"Sheesh, tough audience. Fine, I'll tell you. Luke broke up with Kelly."
"When?" Annabeth wondered.
"Last week."
"And you didn't tell me?" Annabeth asked.
"I only just found out on the plane ride, relax," Piper said.
The taxi slowed to a stop, and they climbed out. The three girls met up with the rest of the cast, Chiron, Mr.D, Apollo, and the orchestra in the lobby of the hotel, which was called Hermes.
"So," Chiron started, "Room keys are being passed out, and there are two people to a room. That's about it."
Chiron handed Annabeth a key, and she and Piper decided to stay together. Hazel agreed to be roommates with someone else.
Just as they were heading up stairs, Luke tapped her on the shoulder.
"Could I talk to you?" Luke asked.
"Sure," Annabeth answered, wondering what this was about.
"Annabeth… would you maybe want to go out with me tomorrow?"

A/N: Aaand that's the end of this chapter! Bet you didn't see that coming? Hehe. I've got nothing to say sooo… thanks for reading!
Fanfic recommendation:
hoax
This is a Percy Jackson/Harry Potter crossover. Basically, Annabeth and Percy get sent back in time to the wizarding world, in the Marauders era. They go to Hogwars, stuff happens, and yeah. It's a pretty good fic. Also I'm kinda running out of recommendations so please comment any if you have some.
