Chapter 20: Naught of Agony
Having separated Orochimaru from Mitsuki, Rengetsu quickly move in to defend Mitsuki.
Confused and shocked, Mitsuki quickly take out his kunai to defend himself.
Mitsuki "Rengetsu? What are you…?"
Before Mitsuki can say anything else, Rengetsu quickly shout out in anger.
Rengetsu "Don't listen to his lies! The only thing this monster is capable of is death and destruction."
Realizing Rengetsu's intention, Mitsuki quickly lower his weapon.
Orochimaru gave out a sinister chuckle as he listens to Rengetsu's insults.
Orochimaru "That's rather cruel for you to say Yashiki. After all I've done for you."
Rengetsu gave out a cry in rage.
Rengetsu "You have no right to call me by that name!"
No longer able to hold back his rage, Rengetsu quickly moves in to attack Orochimaru.
Rengetsu "Raiton! Raigeki no Jutsu"
Rengetsu quickly attack Orochimaru with a Lightning Strike technique.
It sent a bolt of lighting towards Orochimaru's direction.
Seeing the attack, Orochimaru quickly jump away to dodge it.
With Orochimaru suspended in midair, Rengetsu quickly attack Orochimaru once more with Lightning Shot.
Rengetsu "Raiton! Raigeki no Jutsu"
This time, the attack was successful and the shock was able to paralyze Orochimaru from moving.
With Orochimaru paralyzed, Rengetsu quickly move in with his Kunai and successful stab Orochimaru in the stomach.
To Rengetsu's surprised, however, what he stabbed wasn't the real Orochimaru but simply a mud clone.
Before Rengetsu could react, a snake suddenly came out from the ground and wrap itself around his leg.
With Rengetsu immobilized, Orochimaru quickly sprung out of the ground in attempt to stab Rengetsu with his Kusanagi sword.
Not being able to dodge the attack, Rengetsu quickly wave a tiger and a snake hand sign to conjure his technique.
Rengetsu "Koton! Kosenkyu no Jutsu!"
With a thunderous shout, Rengetsu conjure a small yet mesmerizing sphere of light from his body.
The slow movement of the sphere makes it seems be more like a décor than that of an attack jutsu.
Letting his guard down, Orochimaru plunge forward with his attack.
But to Orochimaru's surprise, the sphere begins to shoot laser beams at Orochimaru at lightning speed.
With his quick reaction, Orochimaru was able to deflect the beams with his Kusanagi sword.
Rengetsu, however, was able to free himself during that time.
With Rengetsu's leg free, Rengetsu summon another ray ball.
Rengetsu "Koton! Kosenkyu no Jutsu!"
With two ray balls attacking at the same time, Orochimaru wouldn't be able to block it all.
Realizing this, Orochimaru quickly bite his fingers for a summoning technique.
Orochimaru "Kuchiyose no Jutsu! Rashomon!"
Before the beams hit, Orochimaru was able to summon a miniature Rashomon Gate to block the attacks.
But even with Rashomon Gate, a small portion of the laser was able to break through and graze Orochimaru's shoulder.
With blood seeping from his shoulders, Orochimaru gave out a cry of laughter.
Orochimaru "As expected from the Moon Light Lotus. Your Laser Release technique is as beautiful as ever."
Seeing Orochimaru injured, Mitsuki quickly attack Rengetsu with a kunai.
Rengetsu quickly jump away to dodge the attack.
With Rengetsu separated from Orochimaru, Mitsku quickly move in to protect Orochimaru from Rengetsu.
Seeing this, Rengetsu was moved to shock.
Rengetsu "Why? Why are you protecting this monster?"
Rengetsu angrily asked.
Mitsuki himself didn't really know why either.
Right now, Mitsuki is overwhelmed with emotions, feelings that he's never felt before.
And even though Mitsuki doesn't really know why, there is something in his guts that keeps telling him to save Orochimaru.
Angry at Mitskuki, Rengetsu quickly remove the black clock covering his body.
Seeing Rengetsu's body, Mitsuki flinch in surprised.
There were strange red eyes covering Rengetsu's entire body.
Mitsuki's only read about them in Orochimaru's texts but there is no doubt, the eyes in Rengetsu body are the infamous Sharingan.
Rengetsu "You understand now? This is what you'll become if you continue to be with that monster. A test subject use for his amusement!"
Tears of blood begin to fall from Rengetsu's deep purple eyes as he clench his fists.
Rengetsu "All my brothers… all my sisters… none of them were spared. In this very room, that monster consumed them all to satiate his lust for power!"
Mitsuki wasn't surprised.
After all, Mitsuki lived his entire life carrying out one atrocity after another under Orochimaru's command.
He knew full well what kind of man Orochimaru was.
Yet, his emotion is telling him to defend Orochimaru anyway.
Rengetsu "I see. You're too far gone to be reasoned with. If that is the case then the best thing for me to do is to liberate you from your prison. I will kill you both!"
With a thunderous shout, Rengetsu begin to form hand seals for his final attack.
Rengetsu "Taju! Kosenkyu no Jutsu!"
From Rengetsu's body, multiple spheres of light begin to form.
There were so many of them that they look like a beautiful cloud of fireflies.
Rengetsu "Die!"
The moment the spheres attack, Orochimaru quickly push Mitsuki aside.
Orochimaru "Get out of the way!"
With Mitsuki out of the way, Orochimaru quickly summon his Rashomon Gate once more.
Orochimaru "Kuchiyose no Jutsu! Sanju Rashomon!"
This time, Orochimaru summoned all three gates.
As the beam crashes with the Rashomon Gates, the impact was so great that the entire lab was blown away.

A few miles away was Boruto, Sarada, and Konohamaru.
They were searching for Mitsuki and Rengetsu this entire time.
Luckily, they were close enough to hear the explosion from the attack.
Sarada "That explosion! That must be where they're at!"
Boruto "Got it! Let's go!"
Boruto quickly run towards the explosion and Sarada quickly follow after.
Seeing them rush so recklessly towards the fight, Konohamaru quickly tries to call them back.
Konohamaru "Hey! Don't rush into the fight like that! Didn't I tell you that it's dangerous?"
Both Sarada and Boruto just ignored Konohamaru and continue onward towards their path.
Konohamaru "Damn it! They're not listening to me at all. Sigh… Now I know how Ebisu-sensei feels."
