Brooke took a deep breath as the bedroom door to her sons room closed with a large slam.
"I think enough has happened tonight and the best course of action is for me to deal with my boys alone. Clearly their view of you has been changed and shaped because of Peyton's words but as much as it pains me to admit it. Nothing Peyton said was a lie. The triangle between the three of us would still be going on if i didn't take myself out of it all those years ago. And you married Peyton days after she rejected you're proposal the first time around."
"So you're telling me you married her not being in love with her.?" Brooke asked.
"I wouldn't say that. Of course i was in love with her. I wouldn't of stayed in the marriage that long if the love wasn't real." Lucas replied.
"What she said about Ryan and Kennedy being an obligation. A way for you to make peace with the lack of relationship you had with Dan was true wasn't it.?" Brooke asked.
"Yes. Me wanting and needing to change the messed up history that i had my father by doing the opposite of what he did. Matters to me. You know what it's like to have parents who couldn't care less. You spend years womdering why you weren't enough to make them stay or why they weren't able to love you the way a parent should."
"I don't want for them. Keith is gone. As far as i'm concerned he was my dad. I lost so many moments and memories i'll never get back. I can't stand to waste anymore time apart from them." Lucas stated. The emotion in his voice thick.
"Life especially involving being a parent. Doesn't happen on you're time table. It's not about you or me. This is about Ryan and Kennedy putting them first. In order to do that. You need to listen to me and back off of them and give me space as well. You should go." Brooke said.
"Okay I'll do things on you're terms. I'm not letting them go or giving up that goes for you too." Lucas said. Turning from her as he left the home.
Brooke closed and locked the door to her home. Then took her time going up the stairs in search of her sons.
...
Ryan/Kennedy's Bedroom
Ryan was sketching furiously in his sketch pad.
Kennedy focused his gaze on the tv.
Brooke knocked quietly before entering their room and took a seat at the end of Kennedy's bed.
"I need the both of you to listen and really hear me. Peyton Sawyer isn't a person you should trust or believe." Brooke stated.
"And Lucas is.?" Ryan asked.
"So you're just going to act like that letter he left behind for you. What he wrote is perfectly acceptable. That you weren't heartbroken and made the decision to not return to town because of how he treated you. Because it happened in the past. None of it matters.?" Kennedy questioned.
The expression on Brooke's face softened.
"Yes it matters but this isn't about my personal feelings towards Lucas. What matters to me is for the both of you to have a relationship with you're father." Brooke stated.
"He knew about us. Lucas knew we existed and decided we were better of being a secret. So we wouldn't mess up his life with Peyton." Ryan revealed.
