Jade was woken up by the loud chatter from the Common Room. She yawned as she pulled her blanket over her head and closed her eyes. A loud screech made Jade jump and she sighed as she pulled the blanket off and got up to start her day. She heard incoming running footsteps and looked up in time to see Pansy stop in the entranceway. Her hair was up in a ponytail and she had a green snake painted on her cheek.
"What's going on out there?" She asked as she ran a brush through her hair.
"It's Saturday! First quidditch match of the season!" She smiled and another whoop came from the Common Room. Pansy snapped as Jade started putting on a sweater. "No, put on something green or silver." Jade sighed and looked through her things,
"I've got gray." She said as she held up a gray long-sleeved shirt.
"Perfect." Jade had forgotten about the match, Pansy gestured toward Jade to hurry up and they quickly made their way to the Common Room,
"Wow." Jade looked around at all of the Slytherins wearing their house colors and face paint. She'd never seen the Common Room so crowded. "It wasn't this crazy last year."
"No, it wasn't." Pansy agreed as she smiled around at all of the people. "Hey!" She greeted Blaise as he spotted them and made his way over. He was wearing a dark green turtleneck and had a swipe of silver on his left cheek and a swipe of green on the other.
"You guys need to paint your faces." He smiled as a few others looked around at their unmarked faces. Jade blushed under the attention,
"I agree." She heard someone say close by and Draco popped out of a group of older boys and came over with two tubes of paint in his hands. He was wearing a green and gray striped sweater that only the quidditch players got. He stopped in front of Jade and held his hands up, she smiled.
"What kind of Slytherin would I be if I didn't show my house pride?" She asked and Draco's smile widened.
"You're right." Draco plopped some paint on his finger and slowly dragged it across Jade's cheeks. "There." He spoke once he was done and Jade blushed again under his gaze, he was staring at her, she didn't feel uncomfortable exactly, but it was an odd feeling.
"Are you nervous?" Jade finally asked and Draco blinked and grinned,
"No, excited."
"Ready to face Potter? I don't like to admit it but he is a pretty damn good seeker." Pansy said as she folded her arms and looked around to make sure no one heard her.
"Please, our team has the fastest brooms money can buy. They don't stand a chance."
"Come on, let's go." Blaise tapped Draco on his arm and they all watched as the Slytherins started to leave the Common Room and head towards the Great Hall for breakfast. Once they got there, they saw the Gryffindors talking amongst themselves and their quidditch team was huddled up away from the others. The other houses looked up as all of Slytherin showed up together late for breakfast and the team made their arrival clear by the sudden low hissing they started and soon the Slytherin students picked up the low noise making as they all made their way over to their table and only stopped once everyone was sitting down. The other tables watched the Slytherins as they began grabbing for their breakfast and breaking into their own conversations. Jade noticed the Gryffindor quidditch team watching the Slytherin team as their captain, Oliver Wood, spoke quietly and quickly and then said something to the Weasley twins because they both nodded.
"You better do well," Jade spoke as she turned to Draco at her side,
"I'm not worried about it. But I want to hear you all cheering from the stands."
"I'll be the loudest," Jade promised and Draco smiled at her. Jade sat and listened to her friends talk about the upcoming game as she finished her breakfast. Draco and the rest of the team left before the others to get down to the field and go through drills to warm up for their match. Half an hour later, as eleven approached, the whole school traveled down to the Quidditch stadium in one very large group. Gray clouds hung in the air as Jade listened to Pansy weigh the pros and cons from each team, the main pro for the Slytherins were their brooms and for the Gryffindors, they had Harry.
"Come on!" Jade interrupted Pansy as they approached the stadium and pulled her arm to make their way to the highest stands. Blaise followed closely behind them and stood on Jade's open side.
"It's Draco's first game, how do you think he'll do?" Pansy asked and Jade shrugged,
"He seemed pretty confident-"
"He always seems pretty confident," Blase interjected and Jade nodded in agreement,
"I know he can fly and he's been practicing a bunch every day." Before Jade could say anything else on the matter the two teams began exiting their locker rooms and she burst into a loud cheer. The roaring cheers continued as the team captains shook heads and then quickly silenced as they waited for Madam Hooch to blow her whistle and start the game. As soon as they heard that sharp high sound, the crowd started up again as the two teams took off into the air. Harry flew higher than the rest and held himself out of the game as he searched for the Snitch. Jade let out a piercing screech of a cheer as she spotted Draco making his way up to where Harry sat. She watched the two of them as they seemed to be talking and Harry must've been distracted because he narrowly missed the bludger that came after him. One of the twins came around them and smacked the bludger back towards the Slytherin team. A few students around Jade groaned as the bludger was shot away from Harry but Jade watched as the bludger slowed and turned back around to go after Harry again. Harry dropped a few feet to avoid it and Jade covered her mouth as the twin who was by Harry hit it again but towards Draco this time. Before it could even get anywhere near Draco, it went down after Harry. "Wait, what-" Jade said, she'd never seen such a hellbent bludger before. Harry took off around the stadium and the bludger followed, getting closer and closer. The other twin was waiting for Harry to fly past him and he sent the bludger halfway across the field… before it found Harry and went after him again. Other students began to notice the insistent bludger and murmurs sprouted up throughout the stand as they all moved their attention from the game to Harry. Jade blinked as she felt a raindrop hit her cheek and she looked up, it had begun raining. Games in the rain were always harder to see, for the audience and the players.
"Slytherin lead, sixty points to zero." Jade heard the announcer, Lee Jordan, speak unenthusiastically. She hadn't really been paying attention to the score while she was watching what was going on with Harry but the Slytherins around her cheered. The new brooms were clearly making a difference in the game, Gryffindor was having trouble keeping up. Jade watched as Marcus Flint rushed past one of the Gryffindor's chasers and scored another goal before Harry and his mad bludger flew past him. The twins were closing in on the bludger and trying to swing it off its course. Madam Hooch blew her whistle finally after watching Harry closely and the three of them made their way to the ground safely. Jade pulled her cloak's hood up as the rain started coming down heavier than before and they all stood and watched as the two teams huddled in on themselves and Madam Hooch went over to the Gryffindors. The Slytherins finished their huddle long before the Gryffindors and were standing there smirking and waiting for them to finish, so they could return to properly beating them in the air. Madam Hooch's whistle sounded again and Harry kicked hard into the air, not even two seconds later the bludger found him and was after him again. Jade watched Harry as he flew higher and higher and dodged the bludger as it tried to wreck his broom or hit him in the face. Other students were laughing at his funny movements and Pansy pointed out Draco as the Slytherins and the rest of the Gryffindors returned to their game. He was going back up to follow Harry, the bludger not even interested in him. Harry rolled again to avoid the bludger and then stopped and looked at Draco, who was laughing at Harry and the way he moved.
"Harry!" Jade yelled after him as the bludger started to come back around but he couldn't hear her from way up high and the bludger smashed into his side. Harry slumped to the side and his broom veered down, it seemed that one hit wasn't enough and the bludger came after him again. "Someone do something!" Jade yelled as a growing concern for Harry filled the stadium in all areas except for Slytherin. Causing her housemates to give her side glances. Harry seemed to get control of his broom again because it picked up speed and Harry guided it back up with his one good arm as he held his other close to his body. Harry was heading for Draco, reaching out his hand and Draco quickly dove out of the way. What was Harry doing? It's not like Draco was the one who attacked him. Harry no longer had his hands on his broom, he was clutching to it with his legs and he was going back down again. The crowd gasped as Harry hit the mud with a thud and Jade's hands went to cover her mouth. He held his bad arm at a weird angle but his good one was outstretched and the crowd erupted as they saw the golden Snitch shimmer in the rain. The Slytherins were booing and began heading down from the stands, "I'm going down there." Jade told Pansy and Blaise and she made her way through the crowd even though Pansy was objecting behind her. Jade met up with Ron and Hermione who were going to check on Harry as well,
"He hit the ground hard didn't he?" Hermione turned to Jade and she nodded as they headed onto the field. Professor Lockhart was kneeling down over Harry and they quickly came to his side. Harry's eyes were closed and his hand was still clutching the Snitch. "Harry!" Hermione cried as she brushed the hair from his eyes and the touch seemed to startle him because he twitched under the contact and his eyes slowly opened.
"Oh no, not you." He groaned as his eyes met Lockhart's and Jade smiled at him.
"Doesn't know what he's saying." Professor Lockhart said anxiously to the growing crowd of worried Gryffindors that were gathering around them. "Not to worry, Harry. I'm about to fix your arm." Jade's eyes widened at this, she wouldn't trust Professor Lockhart to even touch Harry's arm much less try to fix it.
"No." Harry said quickly, "I'll keep it like this... thanks." He tried to sit up but then cried out from the pain,
"Don't push yourself, Harry," Jade said as she gently placed a hand on his chest to keep him down. They heard a clicking noise nearby and Harry sighed,
"I don't want a picture of this, Colin." He groaned and Jade spotted the boy and quickly got to her feet and pushed him to the outskirts of the concerned circle before returning to Harry.
"It's a simple charm I've used countless times." Lockhart was trying to get a hold of Harry's arm as he fiddled for his wand in his robes.
"Why can't I just go to the Hospital Wing?" Harry asked through clenched teeth as Lockhart grabbed his arm.
"He should really, Professor." Oliver Wood said as he grinned, "Great catch, Harry, really spectacular, your best yet, I'd say."
"He broke his arm, you idiot," Jade stated, she couldn't believe the large smile on his face as Harry sat there in pain.
"Stand back," Lockhart announced as he rolled up his sleeves and the others hesitantly obliged.
"No, don't-" Harry started but then Lockhart was already waving his wand. Harry gave up and shut his eyes. Jade gasped as his arm seemed to deflate like a balloon, Harry heard the gasps from the people around him and peeked one of his eyes open.
"Ah…" Lockhart looked at his arm up and down, "Yes, well, that can sometimes happen. But the point is, the bones are no longer broken." Jade glared up at the stupid Professor and was about to say something when Hermione touched her arm and shook her head, "So, Harry, just toddle up to the Hospital Wing. Ah, you three," Lockhart pointed at Hermione, Ron, and Jade. "Would you escort him? Madam Pomfrey will be able to… tidy you up a bit." Ron and Jade helped Harry up to his feet and Harry finally looked down at his arm and his eyes widened.
"No, no, no." Jade quickly turned Harry's head gently, "Don't look at it, don't worry about it, Madam Pomfrey's gonna fix it." She shot Professor Lockhart another nasty look but he just smiled as they hobbled past him and slowly made their way back to the castle and to the Hospital Wing.
