Lookin' at the white girl is a foul. Speakin' to the white girl is a technical foul. And touchin' da white girl? Ah ha ha ha ha, now that's a lynchin'.

Huey Freeman couldn't sleep. Suppressing a frustrated groan, his eyes opened and took in the brightness of his living room, but even that wasn't the reason he wasn't able to sleep. Huey didn't know why he was unable to fall or stay asleep, but he knew he better figure it out quick. With his LSAT's coming up in two days, Huey had been studying nonstop, but even he knew he had to take a break or he'd have a burnout, hence the attempt at taking a nap.
At the faint sound of a giggle, Huey's attention was drawn to his girlfriend sitting across the room. One of her knees pulled up to her chest, Jazmine didn't notice Huey's eyes on her as she laughed quietly at something funny on her phone. Taking his time since she didn't realize he was even awake, he stared openly at her.
Huey wasn't the hopelessly romantic or emotional significant other like Jazmine was, so he didn't tell her, but he knew he had lucked out with her. Jazmine was truly beautiful with her tanned skin that was always so soft underneath his hands, her naturally thick and curly strawberry blonde hair, and her pretty face with its doe-like green eyes, button nose, and round, plump lips that currently shined with lipgloss. Plus, not only was Jazmine beautiful, but her sunny, optimistic, easily likeable personality somehow complimented Huey's sarcastic, blunt, realistic one in a way that other people, and even they themselves, didn't understand. It didn't matter if it couldn't really be understood though, their relationship was great so it didn't have to. Jazmine was Huey's best friend and (even though he'd never outright told her) he was happy being with her.
"Jazmine," Huey called her. Jazmine looked up from her phone and curiously looked at Huey. "Come here real quick."
Standing up, Jazmine walked across the room to where Huey laid across the sofa. When she stood in front of him, Huey grabbed her hand and she let out a short yelp as he pulled her onto the couch and on top of him.
"Uh, Huey," she asked confusedly. Huey didn't say anything, only wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his head on the armrest of the couch to avoid looking at her. Realizing what was happening, Jazmine giggled. "Awww! If you wanted to cuddle all you had to do was ask," she cooed.
Huey sucked his teeth but couldn't say anything back. She was right, that was what he was doing. Huey Freeman cuddling. It was honestly embarrassing. Jazmine was the one that initiated stuff like this, not him. Huey hoped Jazmine wouldn't go and tell Cindy about it later because knowing the loudmouth white girl, the information would make its way to Riley, and Huey could already hear him calling the older brother a "gay ass nigga".
"Hey," Jazmine's voice gathered his attention and he looked at her. She was smiling at him, the one where she looked at him and her lips pulled up softly as if he was the best thing in her life. Huey hated that smile, it made him feel a grossly warm feeling in his chest every single time she looked at him like that. It made him want to smile back at her.
Cupping Huey's face, Jazmine brought her lips to his in a soft kiss. Huey's eyes closed and his hand brought itself to her soft curls as he kissed her back. Her lips were soft and warm as always and tasted vaguely sweet of honey thanks to her flavored lipgloss. Their lips moved in perfect synchrony until Jazmine pulled away, gazing lovingly at Huey.
Her voice was soft as she said, "I love you."
Huey didn't even think, just instinctively saying back, "I love you too."
A wide grin made its way onto Jazmine's face and Huey cursed internally, realizing his mistake. He never said "I love you" back to her immediately after she said it, she usually had to press him for a while until he said it back. "Oh my gosh," she squealed. "You're being so cute!"
Huey narrowed his eyes at her. "I'm not 'cute', Jazmine."
"You are right now! Cuddling, telling me you love me. I am so going to tell Cindy!"
"Get off of me," Huey said moodily and unwrapped his arms from around her.
"Oh, hush," Jazmine snapped playfully and brought his arms back around her waist. "You know you don't actually want me to. You know why?" Huey scowled. He already knew what she was going to say. "Because you loooove me!"
Huey groaned as Jazmine giggled and settled comfortably on top of him. Putting his head back on the armrest, Huey rolled his eyes. This was what he got for being affectionate with her.
Still, despite his exasperation, for the first time since he had started trying an hour ago, Huey slowly relaxed and fell asleep as he held Jazmine.
