No Way Out: 25/2/2001
WWF No Way Out was live at the Thomas & Mack Center in Paradise, Nevada. The event opened with Raven defending the WWF Hardcore Championship against Big Show. Tori, Crash Holly, Steve Blackman, Molly Holly, and Hardcore Holly interfered in the match. Billy Gunn performed a Fameasser on Raven to win the title. Holly and Blackman attacked Gunn, allowing Raven to pin Gunn to win the title. Big Show executed a Chokeslam on Raven to win the match.
And now it was time for the Bladewolf vs Chris Jericho for the WWF Intercontinental Championship.
In the arena, Chris Jericho's theme hits and the WWF Intercontinental Champion walks out with the title around his waist. The crowd gave him a loud pop as he makes his way towards the ring.
"This is going to be one heck of a match." JR said as Jericho enters the ring and takes his title off, posing with it. "It was announced this week on RAW that Jericho will have a rematch against the Bladewolf tonight. Bladewolf has not appeared since that night Eddie Guerrero cost him the title, reports say he was preparing for tonight, knowing he must bring his A game if he hopes to win the title for the third time."
"The following contest is scheduled for one-fall and it is for the WWF Intercontinental Championship!" Howard Finkel announced. "Approaching the ring first. From Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, weighing 227 lbs, he is the Intercontinental Champion...CHRIS JERICHO!"
"We already saw a great first match between them, now we may be getting another." Jerry Lawler pointed out.
"Got that right, King." JR nodded. "Chris Jericho retained his title last Monday Night on RAW in a Fatal 4-Way match where the winner goes on to No Way Out tonight to face the Bladewolf for the title."
Jericho's theme dies down as Jericho shoulders his title, staring at the stage as he waits for his challenger tonight.
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
'Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah! Get up, come on get down with the sickness!'
Down with the Sickness plays to a huge pop from the crowd as the Bladewolf walks out with his bat in hand, heading down towards the ring.
"And his opponent, from Death Valley, weighing 299 lbs...THE BLADEWOLF!" Howard Finkel announced before he leaves the ring.
Bladewolf puts the bat down, then gets onto the ring apron and enters the ring through the middle rope, staring down Jericho as he did so.
"Bladewolf is not taking his eyes off Jericho at all, King." JR said.
"That stare gives me nightmares, demon mask or not." Jerry shivered.
The referee was given the title and held it up to show it was on the line then gave it to someone at ringside as Bladewolf takes his jacket off, staring down Jericho who stares back. the referee makes sure both men are ready before calling for the bell.
Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Jericho and Bladewolf circled one another before locking up for a test of strength but Bladewolf pushes Jericho into the corner and hoods him there before backing off then delivers a hard uppercut that causes Jericho to stumble. Bladewolf delivery a stomp to Jericho's ribs before driving his right knee into them. Bladewolf then brings down a nasty forearm to the back of Jericho then grabs him before hitting a suplex.
"Nice Suplex there by Bladewolf." JR complimented.
Bladewolf delivers a punch into the ribs of Jericho then knees him in the ribs a few times before going to grab him again but Jericho fights back with hard right shots to the skull, causing Bladewolf to back off.
"Jericho fight back now." JR said.
"Jericho's gonna need a lot to try and defeat the Bladewolf." Jerry said.
Jericho rebounds off the ropes but comes straight into a big boot to the face. Bladewolf rebounds off the ropes and hits a leg dropa cross the throat, hooking the legs but Jericho kicks out at two. Bladewolf picks Jericho up only for the Champion to fight back with rights and left befor ehe dropkicks Bladewolf in the chest, causing Bladewolf to stumble back into the ropes.
"What a dropkick by Jericho." JR said.
Jericho runs up and unloads with hard right shots before he clotheslines Bladewolf over the top rope but Bladewolf lands on his feet and pulls Jericho out the ring, the two slugging it out with hard right shots until Jericho ducks one and then Irish whips Bladewolf straight into the steel steps, sending Bladewolf right over them. Bladewolf groans in pain as he tries getting to his feet but Jericho grabs him then bounces his skull off the announce table before tossing him back into the ring.
"Jericho in control here." JR said.
"If Jericho can keep this up, keep the Bladewolf down, he will win the match." Jerry said.
Jericho rolls into the ring, walks over and stomps away on the former Intercontinental Champion a few times before pulling him into a clothesline and goes for the pin! ONE! TWO! THR-! Bladewolf kicks out at two.
"Kickout! Bladewolf's still in this!" JR said.
Jericho grabs Bladewolf by the hair and delivers right hooks the skull of Bladewolf until the referee warns him off, causing Jericho to back away as Bladewolf begins getting to his feet but Jericho delivers a dropkick to Bladewolf's ribs, causing Bladewolf to roll onto his back as he clutches his ribs. Jericho boots Bladewolf in the side of the head a few times before he heads to the top rope...AND COMES OFF WITH AN ELBOW DROP! HE HOOKS THE LEG! ONE! TWO! THR-! BLADEWOLF KICKS OUT!
"Wow! that elbow landed on the heart of the Bladewolf yet he still kicks out!" Jerry said.
"It's Bladewolf's determination and willpower. He wants to be Intercontinental Champion so badly." JR said.
Jericho grabs Bladewolf's legs, looking for the Walls of Jericho early but Bladewolf brings his legs in before pushing Jericho back across the ring. Bladewolf gets to his feet and quickly takes Jericho down with a clothesline when he ran at him. Bladewolf gets to his feet and delivers a leg drop across Jericho's throat before dropping a knee onto Jericho's chest, then an elbow across Jericho's chest. Bladewolf grabs Jericho and delivers a belly-to-belly suplex across the ring.
Bladewolf picks Jericho up then backed Jericho into the ropes. Jericho grabbed an arm wringer before Bladewolf reversed and took Jericho down. Jericho countered into a head lock before Jericho flat backed Bladewolf with a shoulder block. Bladewolf countered with a hip toss and we got a few more counters before Bladewolf hit the mule kick.
"What a mule kick!" Jerry said before Bladewolf raises his right hand. "Uh oh!"
"Bladewolf's looking for a Chokeslam here!" JR exclaims.
Jericho gets to his feet and turns around...ONLY TO BE GRABBED BY THE THROAT! Bladewolf lifts Jericho up...AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!
"What a Chokeslam!" Jerry said. "Did you hear that impact?"
"I did." JR nods.
Bladewolf grabs Jericho and lifts him onto his shoulders...THEN HITS THE WOLF'S HOWL! HE HOOKS THE LEGS! ONE! TWO! THREE! WE HAVE A NEW CHAMPION!"
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Down with the Sickness hits as the crowd cheers loudly, Bladewolf rolling onto his back. "Here is your winner and the NEW! WWF Intercontinental Champion...THE BLADEWOLF!"
"Bladewolf did it." JR said as Bladewolf was handed the title. "Bladewolf has won the title for the third time in his career."
Bladewolf gets to his feet and raises the title, glad to have it back since he didn't get a rematch for it after he vacated it due to injury in 1998 and returned in 1999, though his mind was occupied with other matters at the time.
Bladewolf stops when he sees someone at ringside in the crowd and the camera shows WWF Superstar the Jackal standing there, watching Bladewolf coldly.
"That's the Jackal, what's he doing here?" JR wondered.
Bladewolf and Jackal stare each other down before Bladewolf raises his title, never once breaking eye contact. Jackal smirks coldly. Bladewolf then leaves the ring and begins heading to the back.
Off screen
"We are finally getting a storyline with each other!" Jack Edwards, George's brother, and the man behind the Jackal, cheered as they met up backstage.
Jack came to the WWF last year in mid-2000 and since then he has been undefeated, beating superstar after superstar such as Undertaker, the Rock, Kane, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, many fans wanted him to get a title shot but Jack always felt like it was too early for him to get a WWF Championship match, plus he liked being undefeated for now.
Jack contacted George last year to let him know he was joining the company. The two had always been close, even after George walked out on the family. Jack was a year older than George and he too got into wrestling some time after George walked out on the family the first time though Jack didn't blame him since he was old enough to make his own decisions and yet their parents still wanted to control them.
Jack left after he too got into an argument with his parents in 1999 when they learned George was in the hospital after the drunk car accident after SummerSlam, their parents once again trying to prove this meant wrestling was dangerous for George.
Out of all the family, only Jack and his sister, Shannon, visited George to see how he was doing and not grill him into retiring from the company and wrestling altogether.
"I'm looking forward to it." George chuckled.
So yeah, Jackal has been introduced but with a twist. Behind the character, Jack is George's older brother by one year.I figured it would be a good change since both will eventually become a tag team known as the Wolfpack, but they need to get past their rivalry first.
