Cinema Experience

Ron gave the entrance to the cinema a curious look. "So, this is it, then? The, er, movie place?" he said, shoving his hands into the pockets of his too-short trousers.

Dean nodded. He had been trying to get Ron to see a movie with him for ages, but the concept had taken a bit of explaining. Ron hadn't grown up with movies, and he didn't exactly understand the fuss about them. ("They don't seem much different than moving portraits, really.") Once Dean had slyly mentioned the cinema's large offering of junk food, however, Ron was suddenly quite interested in catching a feature.

Today, they were there to see Die Another Day. Dean had picked it because he thought it might be something Ron would enjoy. "It's about a spy," he had told his friend. "His name is Bond. James Bond." Ron had, of course, entirely missed the reference that Dean was trying to make, but Dean had expected that.

They bought their tickets and made their way to the concessions counter. Ron spent several minutes examining the different types of Muggle sweets before deciding on a packet of Jelly Babies and a bar of chocolate. He also bought two hot dogs even though Dean warned him that they probably wouldn't be any good. Dean purchased a bag of popcorn for himself, but he knew that he would end up sharing at least half of it with his redheaded friend.

Ron studied the various posters on the walls as they proceeded to the auditorium designated on their tickets. "Whoa, check out the claws on that bloke!" he declared, pointing to a poster for X-Men 2.

Dean laughed. "That's Wolverine." At his friend's confused look, he elaborated, "He's a comic book character."

"Wicked," Ron said. He finally tore his gaze away from Wolverine when his stomach let out a loud gurgle. "Er, can we go find our seats now? I'm starving!"

"When are you not?" Dean muttered, but he led the way to the proper auditorium with a fond smile on his face.

The auditorium was crowded, but Dean managed to find two seats next to each other on the right-hand side, a few rows back from the screen. Already, there were previews playing, but he wasn't paying much attention to them. He was more concerned for his bum. The cushion on his seat was rather threadbare and worn, and he wasn't sure that sitting on it for over two hours was going to be very comfortable. When he mentioned this to Ron, the redhead immediately suggested magic as a solution. Dean didn't want to risk it, however.

"C'mon, Dean," Ron quietly wheedled, "I doubt any of these Muggles would even notice. They're busy with their food and stuff, look."

But Dean refused to budge. Instead, he chatted with Ron about the previews that came up and nibbled on a few pieces of popcorn. Ron tried some Jelly Babies and a few bites of hot dog and proclaimed that they were both delicious, much to Dean's amusement.

When the lights went dark, he shushed his friend and settled back in his chair as best he could. It was time for Ron to experience his first movie.
