AN: Hello folks, Happy 2021 and my god I hope this year is better but I won't hold my breath. Anyway, ignoring the fact that the entire world is on fire and our leaders our idiots, I think I finally figured out what really attracted me to Gumball when I saw it. I was pretty much like what Gumball was like as a kid, just not as dumb or had a girlfriend.
Well, either way. Shall we?
Disclaimer: I do not own The Amazing World of Gumball, nor do I own Alaska who is the character of Amethyst Wereraven. This story is adopted from her own "Dragon Rider" story.
"You know, considering my grades, traveling in a sewers might be a future job of mine when I'm forced into waste management with my inability to get into college," Gumball said as he held his paw to his nose while traveling through the thick green slimy water. Junk of all kinds had been floating around him from rotten food to broken electronics. If it was something that can be used, chances are it could be thrown away and found here.
"You know, I never knew why you guys always throw everything away so much," Alaska said, hovering over her brother. "This is why I always just eat everything."
"You do know that what comes out after eating is in here too, right?" Gumball said with a grim expression. "I'm going to need six showers after this."
"Oh, quit complaining. This is nothing compared to being in a battlefield where bodies and blood and guts are everywhere," E-4 said, rolling his robotic eye.
"How would you know? You were just born not that long ago," Gumball pointed out.
"Technically, I was made years ago. I only activated recently. Furthermore, I have the memory banks of my predecessor, E-3, who fought in many battles with his creator over the years," E-4 countered. "Besides, your girlfriend is somewhere here trapped with who knows how many other people. I doubt you'll want to leave them to their dark fate."
Gumball sighed as he couldn't find a proper answer to counter. Mostly because it was true. Despite his complaining, Gumball knew he had to save Penny and anyone else trapped down by her. He saw what these monsters were capable of and he wouldn't wish that on anyone. The three of them continued to make their way down the sewers until they heard something.
Gumball held out his hand and listened to what sounded like someone screaming. Fearing the worst, Gumball increased his speed with the others right behind him. They saw a large pipe with a small stream of brown liquid coming out of it that Gumball soon climbed into despite getting some of the dirty water in his mouth. The screaming continued as E-4 shined the way with a light from his eye and Gumball got his Dragonizer ready to transform.
Coming towards the end of the tunnel, Gumball jumped out, rolled back to his feet and got into a karate stance. "Alright, Evacuatur! Prepare for annihil...gator?"
A large alligator on a rocking chair with glasses on, with a Friday the 13th shirt on, was staring at Gumball while a horror movie played on the tv nearby. On it was a woman screaming as a guy in hockey masked chased after her with an axe. There was an awkward moment of silence between the two as Gumball slowly got up and backed away towards the tunnel. "Uh, sorry? False alarm."
"Uh, sure..." The alligator said, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm...going to go now."
"Watch your step!" the alligator said as Gumball crawled back in the tunnel.
"Well, that was a waste of time," Gumball said, walking forward in the main tunnel area again. "At least we know alligators do live here."
"Aren't you concerned about the fact that he saw us?" E-4 asked, worried. "I'm a floating robot. Alaska is a dragon. And you are supposed to be dead."
"Nah, that guy probably never gets out that much. I doubt he'll tell anyone," Gumball answered with a shrug.
"Um, guys? You might want to look into the water below us." Alaska said with a worried tone.
Gumball looked down and quickly put his hand to his mouth to prevent him from throwing up. Floating towards him, right near his feet, was a giant swan headed bear body that was void of any color and whose eyes were rolled to the back of their head. They looked so skinny and lifeless as if something sucked the life out of them.
The corpse wasn't the only one, as dozens of other bodies were floating in the water. Most of them were mammals or some kind of animal like creature. The ones that were more materialistic, like a male cardboard box with a fox drawn face, was just ripped to shreds.
"I'm going to be sick," Gumball moaned as he nearly keeled over and gagged.
E-4 floated to one of the bodies and started scanning it. "Hmm, just as I suspected. Their life energy has been trained. The Evacuatur must be dumping the corpses when it has no longer any use for them." He then floated over to the cardboard box person and scanned it again. "This is strange. This one was just merely killed by having their chest opened up."
"What's the difference? They're still dead," Alaska pointed out.
"Yes, information like this will help me determine what kind of monster the Evacuatur is. They can appear as anything or any size, but more often than not they take the appearance of something that already exists in the world they decide to feast on. Figure it out may discover a weakness or certain tactics we can use to fight it."
"Right, so it has a preference on what kind of food it likes to eat like a picky eater. Real great information," Gumball said, shivering at the sight of more bodies. "Well, if there is anything I have learned from video games and movies it's that you follow the dead bodies when you want to get to the killer. So, follow the stream of corpses I guess."
The three continued to follow the corpses for about half an hour according to the clock on the tablet Gumball was given. He checked the map and found that they were heading closer and closer to a really open area that apparently had a deep hole. According to the small note that Anais left it was supposed to be some kind of giant boiler room that warmed the water in the pipes so they didn't burst in the cold as well as melt any solid objects into smaller forms or liquid.
Hopefully, it would be where whatever was keeping Penny and the others. The only thing that kept Gumball's hopes up was that he hadn't seen her body floating in the water. However, he was disturbed by just how many bodies there were. "Geez, how many people did this guy kill?"
"Evacuatur's have no limit to the life force they can consume," E-4 answered, beeping. "In truth, the only reason they might ever stop is because of practical reasons. This one appears to be smarter than the last one, but not up to standard sentient intelligences."
The ground continued to move until they saw something that made all three of them pause. There was a strange white sticky pattern that was appearing on the walls and ceiling of the sewer path they were on. Curious, Alaska flew to it and gave it a sniff before sticking out her tongue. "Ew, smells horrible."
"It looks like...spider's web?" Gumball asked, tilting his head as he got closer to it. He reached out to touch it but E-4 got in front of him and shook his eyes. "What gives?"
"If this is spider's web, then I think we've found what kind of creature our target is taking the form of," E-4 answered before staring at the webbing. "Plus, touching it will alert the Evacuatur due to the spider's ability to send anything that touches its web."
"Oh right," Gumball said, scratching the back of his head. "Huh, maybe I should pay attention in class. Now I have a reason to do so."
"You didn't before?" E-4 asked, in disbelief.
"Hey, you try caring about school when your teacher is a baboon older than time itself that constantly pushes and everyone around you down just for her own giggles," Gumball pointed out as he hurried forward with the others behind him.
More webbing was found until they came across an entrance filled with webbing that was blocking them from passing. Although worried about the Evacuatur sensing them, there was no other way to get in so Alaska quickly fixed that up by breathing fire on it which melted the web instantly. Once it was burned to ashes, the group entered what appeared to be a very large spider's nest. The entire room was one giant pipe sized room that could fit Gumball's entire house while going seemingly endlessly downward while the ceiling was around twenty or so feet up above. Webbing was everywhere, with different layers on various levels of the room. Connected to the walls or pipes were large sacks of webbing that were moving at times.
"Are those filled with people?" Gumball asked.
E-4 scanned one of them and soon answered. "Yes, I am detecting life forms inside them."
"Great, let's cut them down and-" A loud shrieking sound echoed across the room and further into the sewers that it made the cat's spine tingle. "Oh boy."
Looking upward, Gumball gasped as a giant spider-like figure fell from the ceiling and landed nearby on one of the web platforms. It was black with thick grey hairs and spiky limbs while staring at Gumball with its eight voidlike eyes. Black mist came out of its mouth as it soon then showed its thorax and shot a web at Gumball. Yelping, Gumball ran out of its path where it stuck to the ground he was once standing on until it started to melt as the webbing turned to acid.
"Quick, Alaska! Turn big!" Gumball shouted as he started running on the catwalks to avoid more webbing attacks.
"Right!" Alaska shouted as she prepared to turn big.
"No, wait!" E-4 shouted with worry. "If she turns big now she'll barely fit in here! Not to mention her size might cause a cave in!"
"Oh great! Now you tell us!" Gumball shouted, ducking behind a piece of machinery as another webbing missed and hit the wall. He winced upon seeing it starting to eat through the steel plating before reaching for his Dragonizer. "Guess I should transform at least!"
Pressing both ends of the Dragonizer, Gumball shouted, "Dragon Armor Access!"
The dragon mouth opened as a digitized voice said, "Accessing Armor."
A gold light soon enveloped from its mouth and soon both Gumball and Alaska were in their respective armors, but the latter didn't manage to transform into her bigger form. The light managed to shine so bright that it managed to catch the attention of the various people trapped in the web sacks despite barely being able to see thanks to the webbing.
Once his transformation was complete, Gumball stepped out of his hiding spot while Alaska landed on his shoulder. The Evacuatur hissed before charging at Gumball who reared his fist back and then punched it in the face which sent it back and hit the wall with a big burst of rubble coming out. Gumball turned to Alaska and said, "Alaska, help E-4 free everyone. I'm going to keep itsy bitsy here busy."
Alaska saluted before flying over to the nearest one and started lightly breathing fire on it. Slowly, the webbing began to melt and she was able to use her claws to help rip it open to which a two headed dog and cat sharing one body was able to break free. Gasping for air, the cat shouted, "Finally! I swear I could feel my fur turning into webbing with how long we've been in there!"
"Hey, Cat? You're still not angry about-"
"Yes, Dog! I am angry that you decided it was a good idea to chase after that giant spider!" The cat shouted at his fellow headed companion. The sound of fighting alerted the two of what was going on as Gumball was trying to hold off the spider's pincers from cutting him in two. "Argue later! Run now!"
The two made their way out of the sewers as Alaska went to the next one while E-4 cut open a sack with a small laser from his body. A female human looking girl with freckles and elf ears stared at the robot who freed her for a bit before E-4 suggested, "I think it would be best if you escaped rather than stare at me."
She nodded and proceeded to follow his advice.
Meanwhile, Gumball yelped as he was thrown into a wall and shook his head to get the cobwebs currently out of his head. That was until he screamed in pain upon feeling his entire body suddenly going on fire while sparks bursted out of his armor. The spider finally nailed him with the acid webbing and while it did hurt like hell, Gumball was able to get back up while gritting his teeth. Geez, if it wasn't for this armor I'd be dead.
The spider fired another round from it's thorax which Gumball avoided by cartwheeling to the left. "Ugh? Don't I have any weapons to use?!"
"Oh, right," E-4 said as he just finished freeing a walking lamp person. "Double presses the side buttons to summon your weapon!"
"Could have used that five minutes ago!" Gumball shouted before pressing both buttons of his Dragonizer again.
"Dragon Blade Activated."
A shining saber like sword with a black handle materialized in front of Gumball who took it into his hand. The guard was shaped like a golden dragon's claw while the guard had a roaring dragon as the pommel which had a red orb in its mouth. Giving it a few swings, the automatic combat system inside the Dragonizer and armor were able to give Gumball a few ideas on how to use his new weapon to good use. He soon got a chance when the Evacuatur shot more threads at him, but Gumball quickly cut them apart with his new blade. "Ha! How do you like that?!"
The Evacuatur's response was to summon dark energy into its mouth and fire at Gumball who ducked to avoid getting it. The wall behind him exploded as the armored cat looked behind him and then back at the spider. "Okay, a well thought out response."
The Evacuatur was about to attack again until its eyes spotted Alaska and E-4 freeing more of its prey. Hissing, it charged at them before jumping into the air to stop them. Gumball gasped, but soon jumped as high as he could before kicking off the wall to jump higher. Alaska looked down in horror as the Spider Evacuatur was about to swollow her whole but Gumball managed to kick it away with his great strength before falling down and stabbing his sword into its back.
Roaring in pain, the spider started to race around the walls and floor while Gumball hung on for dear life. "Woah! Woah! Jane stop this crazy thing!"
"Should we help him?" E-4 asked.
"Nah, I'm sure my brother's got it," Alaska said just as the spider came to a stop which caused Gumball to be thrown off, with his sword, into a wall face first.
Turning to the last sack they had to free, Alaska burned a straight line down and opened it only to gasp upon seeing a familiar yellow and orange fairy who looked at her with awe. "Oh, it's Penny! We found her!"
"Wha-wait a minute you're the-" A roar from the spider followed by a "Hi-Ya" from Gumball alerted Penny to what she was seeing. "The Dragon Rider?!"
"Miss, I advise you to start getting out of here before anything happens. Gu-I mean-The Dragon Rider and us can take things from here," E-4 said while Penny just stared at the floating robot.
"...Is that thing the same as the monster that killed Gumball?" Penny asked, lowering her head.
"Um, yes?"
"Good, because I need to let out some rage..." Penny said as her eyes turned blood red. Sensing her magic taking form, both E-4 and Alaska quickly backed away as the fairy started taking shape. She became much larger, on all fours with the rear body of a lion and the front of an eagle. Her big feather wings spread out while her lion-like tail whipped around the area, getting the attention of the others. With a loud cry of rage from her beak, Penny the Griffin dive for the Spider Evacuatur and grabbed it with her talons.
Before anyone could stop her, Penny made for the ceiling above and smashed right through it, causing the place to start collapsing. Seeing no other choice, Alaska turned into her full dragon form and let Gumball jump onto her while grabbing E-4 with her talons. The three flew up towards the self-made exit where they soared into the air.
Back at the entrance, the Watterson family was still waiting for any sign from Gumball with the four of them sitting in the car in boredom. "How much longer do we have to wait?" Richard asked. "I'm hungry."
"I'm more worried about Gumball," Darwin said, looking at the entrance from his seat. "What if something happened to them?"
"I'm sure Gumball, Alaska, and E-4 are fine, sweetie," Nicole said with a warm smile to her adopted son. "If something bad happened I'm sure we'd hear about it."
A large explosion nearby caused the four to turn in its direction where they saw a giant griffin carrying what appeared to be a big spider, which was then followed by a dragon. The four just stared at what they saw before everyone turned to Nicole. Sighing, she got the car into drive and muttered, "And that would be it."
