Good hello my lovely readers. I have zero excuses for the long update. I hope you all enjoy.I only own my OC.
The Regalia turned sharply into the available parking lot at the bottom of the mountain side leading up to the lighthouse. To everyone's disappointment the storm didn't let up. But that wasn't going to stop Elena from jumping out of the car taking in the cold drops as it rained down her skin.
It had been a miserable days drive, with her brother, and Nyx taking unnecessary jabs at each other. Which surprised her since she thought they were becoming comfortable with the idea that Nyx was no longer just her bodyguard.
"Princess. It would be concerning if you were to get sick at a time like this." Ignis muttered as he stepped to her side.
"Mhm. I just couldn't stand it anymore in that testosterone filled vehicle." She joked keeping pace with Ignis as they started their walk up the rocky terrain.
"They will resolve their differences Princess. Do not fret." Ignis added before stopping abruptly as Nyx joined the two.
"His Majesty was asking about the tents, and pans."
"Must he be so dense. Get the Princess inside before she catches a cold." Ignis ordered as he jogged back to the Regalia.
"Why is everyone so formal with me." Elena sighed as she continued forward taking her time so she wouldn't slip on one of the slick grass covered rocks.
"Doesn't matter if Noctis, or yourself doesn't sit on the throne of Insomnia. You are still our Princess. And nothing will change that."
She could feel Nyx close behind, probably getting into position in case she was to fall.
"Do you think we will still leave? Or wait till the storm clears?"
"Probably wait on the storm. Nothing worse than rough seas." Nyx answered as he placed both hand on her hips as a small mud slide brought down debris from the top of the hill.
"This is awful." Elena groaned as she was pushed back into his chest as the waves of wet mud flowed powerfully around their calves. "I wanted so bad to get out of that damn car. And now I kinda would prefer to be back in it."
"This will be the worst part. Once we clear this incline. Its basically even terrain to the top." Nyx grunted as he took her full weight into his chest. "Just try not to stop. Keep your legs moving and you shouldn't get stuck." He nudged her forward giving her a slight boost over a few boulders.
"Easier said than done." She grumbled placing her hands on his pushing off them slightly.
If felt like hours, and countless small misteps leading the both of them knee deep in mud before they finally reached the lighthouse rushing through the opening that housed the elevator.
"Boy. Is this how the Glaive trained you to take care of a Princess?"
"Shut it old man." Nyx growled as he stepped in front of Elena roughly brushing his hands down her face wiping away all the mud. "Doubt you could do any better."
"Hmph. Where's the twin?" Cid grumbled as he peaked out the entrance seeing the rest of the party faring the same. "What is wrong with you kids. Its just a little bit of mud."
"Nyx stop it I'm fine." Elena swiped his hands away as he reached forward determined to smear more of the mud in her hair, and face. "Hello. I'm Elena." She formally introduced herself sticking out her hand. "I've heard of all the help you have done for my brother. Thank you."
"Its not a problem dear." Cid bowed his head slightly, taking her hand not caring that it was caked in mud. "Now if they'd just move their asses we could get out of this weather."
Chuckling she nodded looking back to Nyx watching as he stomped his feet on the cement.
"Guess we both will need a shower it seems." Elena teased giving him a wink as she walked over to him.
"Which Elena will get first."
Her brothers irate voice echoed through the building as he skidded through the entrance covered in filth just like the others.
"Course." Nyx smirked, sneakily tapping her backside as he scooted away to take some of the luggage from Gladiolus, and Prompto.
"Coulda offered to help earlier." Prompto groaned as he tossed him two duffel bags.
"You need to build a bit more muscle anyways," he answered teasing the young blond but taking the bags to the elevator.
"Oh I hope nothing is wet. Id really like to put on some dry clothes." A small draft came through the door causing Elena to shiver.
"We will put a change of clothes by the burner in case." Noctis scooted in next to her as the rest of the group piled in to descend through the mountain. "Everyone ready?" He asked before pulling the lever.
The elevator moved slowly and loudly deep into the mountain. Elena wasn't typically scared of things like this. But the sound this thing was making was having her death gripping the railing.
Moments of silence passed before it came to an immediate halt bouncing slightly on the aged bungees. Once the door opened Elena jumped out before everyone, praying to the gods that were listening that she survived.
"It wasn't that bad." Noctis snorted bumping his twin out of the way as he took down the stairs. Each of the team passed by teasing her.
Besides Nyx.
Who she could tell wanted to say something but decided not too since he liked when she was nice to him.
They shared a secret smile before they headed down the metal stairs. Elena spotted the new visitor first but Nyx was the first to speak.
"Marshall?" Nyx asked confused as he dropped the bags by the fire crossing his strong arms across his chest.
"I am here to see you all off. And offer apologies to the Prince, and Princess." Cor shuffled awkwardly as he eyed the mud covered twins.
"Apologies?"
"For what?"
Both twins asked in unison. Elena only met Cor on a few occasions and he has been nothing but kind. But right now he seems torn, like he did something that is unforgivable.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't there for your father." Cor frowned looking at the twins all serious and full of regret. "I swore an oath to protect the king but I was strong enough to uphold it."
Elena inhaled quietly eyes dropping down to her feet as she shuffled them back in forth nervously. Though she had come to terms with what happened to her father, she still didn't blatantly like to talk about it.
She could practically feel Nyxs eyes burning into the back of her skull as he stood a respectable distance behind her.
Elena moved her eyes to the side inspecting her brother, and not at all surprised to see him coiled and tense with a slight glare.
Everyone stood silent staring at the royal siblings not comfortable with speaking up.
"Ain't nothin' nobody could've done to stop what happened." Cids old crackled voice broke the silence as he stepped in the middle of the crowd taking a seat on the obviously warn sofa.
"Yeah I realize that." Noctis scoffed as he moved around slightly showing signs of building aggravation.
Elena stood still fisting her tiny hands as she held back her anger. Of course this could have been prevented! But she wouldn't dare speak her mind in retaliation of her brother.
"But you need to realize just what you mean to the boys by your side." Cid spoke up confusing Elena on where this was going.
"I do." Noctis answered truthfully arms crossed over his chest eyeing the old man.
"Even if they can't solve your problems, you can't hide what's goin on from em. It hurts like hell." Cid sighed leaning forward off the sofa. "Remember. Those ain't your bodyguards, they're your brothers. Trust em always. Its not just you. You have your sister to look after. All of you."
Elena eyed the group each nodding in agreement. She has known these people which felt like her whole life. If anything was to happen to them because of her she would never forgive herself.
"Princess. I was so happy to hear that you made it out." Cor stepped up to her the rest of the team had already separated going about cleaning themselves up.
She new her brother was eyeing her, but Elena wasn't sure what to say. It wasn't cause of any skill she got out. If it wasn't for Nyx she would probably be dead.
"It wasn't easy. If I didn't have Nyx. Luna and I probably would have never made it out in one piece." She looked over her shoulder making eye contact with the Glaive that smiled sadly.
"I heard about that. People say they saw a guy fighting off the intruders with the power of the kings."
Elena stood frozen eyeing one of her fathers great friends. I'm sure everyone who survived has made up some kind of tale of what happened by now.
"What of it." Nyx sneered harshly. Elena was tense as she backed towards him reaching out for his hand.
"This will not end well for you. There is no way out of that deal-"
"Please. No more." Elena interrupted biting her lower lip ignoring the fowl taste of mud. She has had enough depressing conversations for the night. Looking back to Cor she smiled sadly. "I think I'm going to take a shower. It is great to see that you are alive as well." She gave Nyx's hand one last squeeze before waving off her brothers worried stare as she followed the direction Ignis was silently pointing towards. Thankful that it was the bathroom.
Before she could get the metal door shut, Elena trembled slightly at the words coming from the Marshall's mouth.
"Boy. You need to put it in your head that the Princess is off limits. Your fate will only bring her down a road that will end her."
"Damnit." Elena growled as she pulled her fingers through her hair a third time. The mud had decided it wanted to make a home out of her dark locks clumping them together in an unnatural way.
It was painful trying to ignore the conversation that was ultimately going on just through the door. But Elena needed to not focus on the possibilities with Nyx.
The thought of his death will terrorize her for a lifetime.
She was preparing to attempt a comb she found on the sink when one large arm wrapped around her waste and the other sealed over her mouth.
Yelping Elena dropped the comb, and naturally went to pull the hand off of her face.
"Shh. Or everyone in this tiny lighthouse will hear." Nyx nipped at her neck, her body immediately responding.
"Exactly why you shouldn't be here." She sighed breathlessly she backed closer into him. "If my brother-"
"He is inspecting the boat. We have a few minutes." Nyx teased her earlobe with his teeth, using his free hand to explore her body.
"Fine. Three minutes." Elena moaned as she turned around crashing her lips to his.
"So your telling me that instead of waiting you dove into the ocean and bathed that way?" Prompto leaned forward eyeing a damp Nyx who casually sat on the couch with his arm resting on the back, toying with Elena's hair.
"Yup." He replied tugging on a strand.
"Weird." He eyed the two suspiciously.
"Prompto shower." Gladiolus grumbled as he walked out of the bathroom shirtless scrubbing a towel through his hair.
"Finally! If all the hot water is gone you will all hear about it!" He huffed loudly before locking himself in the bathroom.
Elena chuckled at Promotos hysterics.
Thankfully all the clothes survived all the mud, and rain. She was pleased to say that she was dry, and warm with a pair of clean clothes.
Squirming slightly in the sofa cushion she pulled her oversized shirt down nervously.
She couldn't stop thinking about what happened in the shower..
Nyxs lips traveling across her body.
His hands ghosting over places where she had never allowed anyone before. She had to hold back a moan thinking about how his fingers-
"Princess. Did you hear a word I was saying?" Gladiolus tapped her leg.
"Oh. Um. What." She stammered ignoring Nyxs snort as he pinched the nape of her neck.
"You seem out of it. Maybe you should call it early tonight."
"Yeah. You seem kind of flushed. I hope you aren't coming down with anything." Ignis peeked his head in from the boat ramp, causing Elena to squirm uncomfortably with all the unwanted attention.
"Elena is fine. Her shower must of gotten too steamy."
She was shocked as he addressed her with zero formality in front of everyone. But the look immediately turned into a scowl as he faced her with a grin that held all the answers.
"Go ahead and head to bed Elena. Its not much, just a small cot. But we leave at first light, and we need everyone at their best." Noctis came off the boat ramp still coated in mud, and what looked to be some grease as well.
"Guys I'm fine." Elena stood from the couch making sure to put all of her weight into her elbow that dug painfully into the Glaives side. "But some extra sleep sounds nice. I'll see you all in the morning." She bid everyone night, giving Nyx a glare before entering the small space under the stairwell.
"Lets go over the plan."
Was the only thing she heard from the guys as she laid her head down on the flatten pillow, her eyes closing, and her mind drifting off into a not so far past of her and a certain someone in the shower.
