Jonathan Creek – A long way home

Chapter 10:

Later that evening.

"He's lovely our son, just very shy and a bit of a recluse"

David said as he and Maddie were in the kitchen doing some drying up.

"Yeah, I knew someone like that once"

A sudden ring came from the doorbell, Sally jumped up with such excitement, she nearly hit the roof.

"That'll be him…. Darling"

Maddie heard as the door opened, she looked back to see him as he entered the door. She instantly recognized that brown, curly hair and the same trench coat he always wore. The distinct look that made him, him.

Suddenly the mug Maddie was drying slipped from her hand and smashed on the floor.

"Oh god David, I'm so sorry"

She said fumbling on the floor trying to pick up the pieces as Jonathan came through the door.

Their son recognized their guest right away and was shocked and surprised to see her.

"Maddie"

"Jonathan" Maddie said as she shot up, her hands were shaking, her heart going at a million miles an hour.

"Oh, you two know each other" Sally interjected, with a smile.

"Yes Maddy Magellan" He said smiling, it was so nice to see her again after so long.

"Oh of course you wrote that book together, oh well of course we didn't recognise you at first"

Maddie had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach, she couldn't hold it anymore, the shaking was getting worse, and she felt like she was going to faint, and be sick, no she couldn't hold it anymore…

"I'm sorry"

She said as she suddenly shot past them bumping into Jonathan nearly knocking him over, and ran upstairs to the bathroom.

"What was all that about?" The look of shock on Sally's face as she glanced at Jonathan.

"I don't know" Jonathan stated.

"Maybe we should have a chat" She said to Jonathan, leading him to the sofa.

David looked up the stairs and decided that was the best place for him to be.

"I better go and check she's ok"

David said departing quickly from the room and running upstairs, leaving Sally and Jonathan alone, so she could give him one of her talks.
