Chapter 9
Eddie's Abandon Apartment the same night
Ashley replaces another ice pack from Eddie's forehead.
His head is in headwrap in a bandage, as he is resting on the couch. It looks like he would be out of commission for a day or two. She caresses his cheek; her thoughts bring her back to the fight with Spider-Man.
She clenches her fist. "Spider-Man! He will pay for this!"
She places a kiss on his cheek, then suddenly she hears a thud. Ashley spins to find their captive on the floor. She is thrashing about as the egg had begun to hatch.
Now curious to see how this was going to play out, Ashley watches in fascination as the red and yellow baseball egg oozes the yellow substance onto the young woman. Mary Jane screams, but it comes out muffled.
The ooze begins to stretch itself around her, spreads onto her upper legs, solidifying itself as it continues to travel in opposite directions. Ashley watches as the ooze of the symbiote covers her webbed legs, forming yellow skin with a combination of red.
The doctor notes that in certain sections of the legs, minus the feet which are covered in yellow, that separates the colors in the shin, mid outer thigh, and upper inner thigh. The same thing with the upper body, on the lower rib cage, is red, as well as the forearm and edges of the collarbone.
The hair becomes a longer pattern too, yellow on the right, red in the middle and yellow on the left.
"MMMM!"
"Relax darling," the dark-haired woman coos. "It'll be over soon."
No sooner than she says it, the goo forms a mask over the desperate redhead's face and the last thing she sees is Ashley smiling at her viciously.
A roar escapes the newly symbiote-controlled woman, shatters the windows. Ashley's suit forms as she walks over, inspecting the now freed woman. The said symbiote woman clenches and unclenches her hands. The creature woman growls, lowly eyeing the stranger.
"What shall I call you?" she asks to no one in general. "A name befitting for the offspring of the Venom suit." She glances at the broken window. Ashley hums softly; well that roar did cause her to wince as well as the symbiote suit. "Scream. Yes, that'll do."
"What shall I call you?"
Now with her mask on, she smiles with her teeth glistening in the shadowy lit apartment. "Come daughter, we have a spider to squash."
Scream growls again. Its eyes follow her 'mother' out the window. Venom manifests his head, watching as the ladies exit the apartment. It is not happy. Even with its healing abilities, it muses. Eddie is incapacitated due to the head injury from the brunt of the attack of the Spider.
It hopes that Ashley and now the infected Mary Jane will not do something rash until Eddie is back on his feet. It thinks, then soon an idea comes. It grins.
Why infect one person? When a city will be worth it?
In the Bushwick area, Peter and Cindy are on patrol after what happened ten minutes earlier with those heavily armed men with rocket launchers. It is something worth investigating. As they web-swing, the hero of NYC instructs Cindy, aka Silk, on how to deal with swinging from a higher elevation.
"That's good, Silk. Just get used to the swing. The more you practice the better you will be," Spidey says, soaring through the air behind her. He figures that if you are going to train with someone, might as well do it slowly. Bushwick is a great place to get used to web-swinging. The area has buildings that range from five to eight stories high, perfect for a beginner who claims to be comfortable swinging three stories.
So far, he is impressed. Cindy is a fast learner catching on to his instructions pretty quickly. She is developing her style of web-swinging. He notes that she swings then goes into a series of acrobatic, then swings again.
He smirks. He remembers the thrill when he first did it, it never gets old plus, it's the fastest way to travel. He is still trying to figure out why her spider-sense keeps going haywire, even when no danger is present.
Perhaps a test will be necessary to find the problem to the solution, he thinks.
'Parker! We got trouble!,' Symbian says.
'My Spider-sense isn't tingling, so…?'
If Symbian could roll his eyes, he would. 'Not immediate danger! Symbiote danger.'
'Symbiote danger, eh?'
'Yes, I sense the presence of another, hmm … one that you are familiar with.'
Before Spider-Man can reply, Silk stops abruptly. Landing on a random building, he follows, then asks, "Hey, what's up kid? Didn't lose your self-confidence, did you?"
Silk watches in keen interest at a glowing object several blocks away. She points at it. "Do you know what's that in the distance?"
Spidey eyes squint as he tries to identify the foreign object. "Hmm…let's go check it out."
As they swing towards the glowing object, a mercenary with binoculars watches as they draw close. Using his transmitter, he speaks into the mic. "Spider-Man is on his way here! Arm the bomb and clear out!"
Seconds later, both their spider-senses go off at the size of the glowing bomb. It is at their eye level.
"A bomb! Something this size could take out a whole city block! We better find the mercenaries and figure out how to shut it off."
Silk inspects it. She places her hand on one of the slots. "These colored slots look like they were made for four colored slot keys: red, blue, green and yellow. I bet if we can find them, we can shut down the bomb!"
"Does it have a timer?"
"Let me check." She finds it between the green and blue slots windows. "Two minutes and twenty seconds. We don't have much time!"
"Alright, the mercenaries couldn't get far. We'll split up to cover more ground. I'll find the red and blue keys while you search for the green and yellow. This is the perfect opportunity to see how well you do under pressure, so no pressure."
Frowning, Silk rolls her eyes at his corny no-pressure joke. This is not the time for him to be doing jokes. Sighing, she leaps off the building while Spider-Man calls out to her. "Remember to trust your spider-sense. It will save your life!"
"Yeah, yeah," she mutters. The problem is she doesn't trust her senses. Too many times it caused her to lose focus, nearly plummeting down to the ground to be a human pizza. She recovered thankfully. She shudders as she thinks of her free fall from the penthouse.
Peter has a very extreme way of teaching, at least when it came to web-swinging. She dreads to think what he will do when they start wall-crawling. She lands and perches herself on a water tank, scans the surrounding area.
"Nothing seems out of the ordinary… hello, what's this?" Silk spots a cluster of men with heavily armed weaponry not far from her location. "Time to introduce myself." She spins two-line then flies, landing on another building with a billboard sign.
She perches again on the billboard, listening to their conversation.
"Hey, you hear the rumor?" one mercenary says.
"About?"
"Spider-Man got a new partner."
"What! No way! The guy works alone. Are sure it isn't the Cat?"
"No man, I heard that King Pin got a tight leash on her."
Silk hums. Black Cat? Who is this Black Cat character? Maybe Spider-Man may know who she is? She shakes her head to clear her mind. Another time perhaps to figure out the mystery of the Black Cat person. Now it is time to take out the trash. Time is not on her side.
"Hey, fellas, do you mind directing me to the near dump yard? I need to throw away the trash."
"What the?"
The two men look up. Silk is already on the move, landing on one, instantly knocking him out while the other pulls out his rifle, trying to shoot the agile Asian. Shots fire, skimming a few edges of the building and putting a dent in the air conditioning.
Silk peeks out, then ducks behind her covering, her heart racing. This is the first time she got shot at!
"Isn't this lovely?" she says to no one.
Taking a deep breath, she springs from the air conditioning, fires a web line towards the mercenary. The man shoots her, but she twirls to the left and right, avoiding the bullets, then she follows up with another web line.
The man is frustrated. "How do you move like that!" he yells.
He spots the web line attached to the ground. This may not be Spider-Man, but he can spot a rookie from a mile away. The web line did not attach to him, so acting quickly he grabs it hard. The momentum catches Silk off-guard as a fist lands in her face. She rolls to a stop with her head hitting a metal pole.
Hissing, she clutches her head. The gun cocks. With her vision doubled she sees three armed men. Once it comes back into focus, she sees the barrel of the rifle pointing straight at her face. She drops one arm.
"Game over girly!" he says. "Any last words?"
"Yeah… WEB TO THE FACE!" She fires the webbing, blinding him.
"GAH! GET THIS STUFF OUT OF MY FACE!" The mercenary frantically paws off the sticky substance from his masked face. Silk notes that he has a slot key; a green slot.
She swipes it off his person, then trips him, firing webbing to pin him to the ground. "Hey, you didn't need this green key, did you?" Rubbing her head, she stands. "Now where is the yellow key?"
The man struggling spits, "Screw you!"
Silk narrows her eyes, nods her head. She then stands, looks to his lower region. "This is going to hurt you more than it going to hurt me." The confused man feels a sharp pain in his groin. A high-pitch whine is heard as he feels something crack or tighten.
Silk asks again, "Where is the key!? Lives are at stake here!"
"F-fo-forget it!"
"Okay, then a double stomp it is." She raises her foot, then stomps twice on the man's groin.
"Four b-buildings…down…" The man loses consciousness.
"Thank you."
"Don't bother." Silk spins to see Spidey, his arms crossed. "I already found three of the slot keys. All I'm missing is yours."
"I thought you said I would get the yellow slot key!"
"I did, but then I realized that we have only about forty seconds left. I was wondering what took you so long, so I placed the keys into the bomb. It increased the time, so we have about a minute and thirty seconds left. Move it!"
With thirty seconds left, they breathe happily. "Alright, that's it for the bomb. Now we can focus on your training and the airfield."
"What's going at the airfield?"
"I got a tip from one of Shockers' goon that something is going down at the airfield, but we need to hit it in a week," he replies.
His phone rings. He takes it out, and to his surprise it was none other than J. Jonah Jameson on the line. "This ought to be good. Yellow?"
"Parker, shut up and dial 911. Scorpion here! You got to–OHH…."
He looks down at his partner in crime. "We got trouble at the Daily Bugle. Let's move."
Daily Bugle
Sweat pours down the forehead of the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, watching as his former spy glares at him menacingly in his green and blue scorpion suit. Mac Gargan is seething at the sight of J Jonah Jameson; he is in glee when the editor is shaking in his boots.
Scorpion's tail wavers from side to side as the man in the suit comes closer to finishing his former employer. Jameson's back is at the window as he tries to bargain his way out of the predicament that he is in.
The Scorpion's battle suit is equipped with a powerful tail that he could whip at speeds up to over ninety miles per hour. The tail is connected via a cybernetic link to the fine muscles of his spinal column when he dons his suit, enabling him to direct the tail by involuntary nerve impulses and activate it by his mental commands.
Internally, the tail consists of a series of separated circular plates, connected by a matrix of steel cables. Solenoids contract the cables and manipulate the tail, allowing it to whip at speeds of over one hundred and fifty feet per second. The tail is also armored and tipped with a spike, making it deadly in combat.
"Listen Gargan … it's a new millennium, lots of high techs! There may be some way we can get you out of that suit!" Jameson says.
Gargan isn't having it. "You've put in me this damn suit, Jonah! Now I'm going to make you pay!" He swings his tail at the head of the editor in chief, however the man ducks the strike.
"Get over it, Gargan!" Another strike breaks the window.
"You ruined my life! So now I'll end yours!" He rears his tail back for a fatal blow, yet Jameson despite his age is quick to get out of the way as the tail comes crashing down. "Come back here you chicken!"
Jonah scampers to another piece of furniture. "We can still make a deal!"
"Shove it!"
The tail starts glowing. Jameson knows that if it hits him, he would be dead.
Suddenly another window of the Bugle explodes, and a black blur knocks Scorpion down to a desk, splitting it in two.
"Leave him alone, chuckles!"
"Spider-hold on who are you!" Jameson gets up. "I ask for the police and I get this?"
"Well, aren't you all full of sunshine," the woman says. "The name is Silk! I work with the webhead. Seeing that I was faster than Spider-Man he sent me ahead to save your skin."
"Ah great!" Jameson scowls. "Another mask menaced for society! Just what the city needs. You think that you're above the law! Well, I got a newsflash for you sweetie you're n-urmph!"
"Hey kiddo, let mom and dad talk for a minute, will you?" Silk sighs in relief after webbing his mouth. "Do you ever shut up?"
"Trust me, he can go on for hours on end," Scorpion deadpans. He picks himself up grinning, "Well, who are you supposed to be, Charlotte's web? Get lost girly, this is between me and Jameson."
"Sorry, but the superhero code says I got to stall you!" she says.
"Stall me? For what?"
"COMING AT YOU!" a new voice says.
"WHAT!"
A double kick to the chest sends Gargan to the ground. Peter follows up by straddling him and punching the man. Scorpion puts his arms to block the assault. He punches the wall-crawler in the face, dazing him for a moment. Scorpion then rolls over so now he is on the top as he starts to rain in the punches and the stinger to kill the spider. With the little movement he has, the spider-themed hero moves his head from side to side, not allowing the stinger to touch him.
"You move too much, you guppy! How about a laser sting!"
Spider-Man sees the tail glowing, quickly he head-butts the man in the mouth, causing Scorpion severe agony to clutch his mouth. Flipping out of the position he is in, the hero unleashes a pseudo-tentacle towards him.
He flies towards him, but Scorpion backhands him the moment he reaches him. "But how, web-head?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
"Stay out of this Spider-Man. This doesn't concern you!"
"Well in a way it does, because once you damage the one place that gave me my rep it becomes my business."
Scorpion pounces him, but Spidey flips him off, sending him crashing to the other side of the room. Gargan roars as he gets up, once again throwing a filing cabinet at the wall-crawler. Spidey catches it by the web, twirls it back at him.
Scorpion smashes the cabinet into pieces, charges the tail, unleashing a power beam at the wall-crawler. Spidey dodges then throws a flowerpot at the Scorpion, hitting him in the process. He follows up, then sends two web lines to Scorpion's chest, hurls himself towards him with a flying punch, sending him crashing towards the wall where employees works.
Much to his displeasure, the building still has a few people in it. Spider-Man gives a small 'tsk'. "Bystanders, it just had to be bystanders."
The tail of Scorpion then strikes Spidey, but again he dodges it and as he begins to dodge the tail wraps itself around his ankle. With a mighty heave, Spider-Man is flattened on the ground, then bashed against the wall before he is quickly disposed of out the window.
"Good riddance to bad rubbish." Scorpion looks around. "Where are you hiding, Jameson?"
Meanwhile in the other room, Silk has her ear to the wall, hearing the grunts and items being destroyed. She winces every time Peter gets hit; Jameson finally got the webbing off his face and started with his usual bellow.
"What in blazes is going on here? Are you somehow connected with this? You are! Aren't you!? I finally have the evidence to finally put that good for nothing wall-crawling menace behind bars. You little missy will be going with him!"
Silk's eyes lids dropped halfway as she continues to listen to Jameson rant about how he is going to gloat over the News on how he was right the whole time that Spider-Man was a good for nothing piece of trash. Her left eye starts to twitch as she closes her eyes, counting to ten. She never does make it to ten when she shoots out to the Daily Bugle Editor in chief with claws one centimetre to his face. The man knows it is time to shut up, he is now sweating bullets, yet his gaze at the woman is cool.
"You know something, Mr. Jameson, I've just had about enough of your ranting about Spider-Man." Her arms never retract, however the other grabs him by the collar of his shirt. With the sharp nails, she starts to play with his face. "What is it about us superheroes you hate so much? Huh? I've listened to your rants. You've got nothing good to say, especially about Spider-Man. Why?"
"Why do you mask-wearing freaks hide your faces? What do you have to hide?" he asks.
"Has it ever occurred to you that we wear a mask to protect our identities, to protect our loved ones? Not everyone who wears a mask is evil."
"Aww, what are you, his number one fan?" he spits. "He's a vigilante taking the law into his own hands. Who does he think he is? A judge, jury, and what next, executioner? I don't like any of you hero types. You think you're above the law! Well, you're not! And one day you are going to get what's coming to you."
Silk lowers her clawed hand. "It amazes me that he still hasn't put you in your place, and when that day happens, I will be laughing my way to the bank."
A moment of tense silence passes; soon enough an explosion throws both to the other side of the open room. Recovering from the explosion, the two people look up to see a man in an armored suit with a couple of goons.
"Hello Jonah, I have a catchy headline for you: Bugle Blown to Smithereens," the man sneers.
"Who are you?"
"You don't remember me? That's a shame. But you and your paper ruined me, and now it's payback time for ruining my career."
Silk dusts herself off. "Well, it's not the most dramatic entrance ever seen, but I bet Hollywood would do a much better job. Who might you be, tinman?"
"Stand aside. I have no interest in squandering with you, but if you get in my way you will be destroyed."
Placing a hand on her hip, Silk replies, "If you want to get old big-mouth over here, you'll have to get by me first." She smirks, while cracking her knuckles.
"Bah why waste time, eliminate her!"
The troops aim their weapons at the spider-themed heroine. "It's always the pawns that always die first." She jumps into the air with a war cry as shots rang out.
Meanwhile, with Spidey and Scorpion, Gargan swings his tail at Peter. He simply catches it with ease, then with a mighty heave he swings his opponent towards the wall. Upon contact Scorpion busts through a wall, breaking even the sheetrock. Spider-Man pounces upon him, punching Gargan in the face, completely knocking the villain down unconscious.
"He won't get up from that."
"Hey, web freak, eat lead!"
His spider-sense blazes as he dodges gunfire. He handsprings to the left, dodging more rapid-fire. Spiderman leaps into the air, proceeding out of his wrist webbing, which is shot to two goons. With a mighty pull, the two collide against one another, falling to the ground in a heap.
"Have a nice nap."
Spider-Man hears more shots being fired. He moves and breaks down the door. A low whistle escapes as sees Silk weaving in and out, dodging electrified sticks. she is not making it easy for the goons to hit her. He looks around, multiple bodies on the ground knocked out.
"Silk has been busy."
One lets out a cry in hopes of getting the drop on her. She turns just in time to pounce on him then. Using her momentum, she handsprings, proceeds to grab the man by the shoulder, sending him to crash into his fellow companions. She is in cat stance when she lands to find a gun barrel to her head.
"Don't move, princess, or I'll blow your brains out!"
She smirks. "You underestimate me."
Quicker than the eye could see, Silk sweeps the man's ankle as he falls to the ground. She follows up with a kick to the face, effectively rendering the man out cold. Soon she is joined by mentor/boyfriend.
"Well, what took you so long? You missed half the party."
"Hey, cut a guy some slack! It is not easy trying to take on a guy with similar powers as you, and besides Scorpion is nature's way of saying, 'Screw you. I'm going to combine lobsters, spiders, wasp and a whole lot of nightmare just because I can'."
Silk holds back a small giggle.
"Ahem … if you two are done talking, I could use some help here!"
The two sap their attention to Jonah, who is being held hostage by the man in the tin suit. He holds his wrist towards Jonah's face, alarming the two Spider themed heroes. "One step from either of you and I blow his brains out. And speaking of blowing…" He pulls out a device. "I rigged this place to blow. Good luck finding the bombs."
"You're a mad bomber!"
"Why thank you, my dear, that is my alias, but my real name is Luke Carlyle. I once was a wealthy businessman until J. Jonah Jameson wrote articles in the Daily Bugle which lead the city to investigate me, to cause me to lose my fortune. Now if you'll excuse me, I have an editor to kill." The man activates his battle armor jetpack, and takes off into his escape helicopter.
"HELP!"
Spidey looks at Silk. "You go after JJ. I'm going after the bombs!"
Silk grabs his hands. "Spider-Man I-I can't…"
He pauses for a moment, caressing her masked face. "You can. Don't let your fear of heights get the better of you. A life is at stake here." Spidey gives her a reassuring hug, which she gladly returns. They don't break immediately as they stare at each other for another moment. "Now go."
She nods, then races out the window with determination to save the editor in chief of the Daily Bugle.
Within twenty minutes, Silk manages to catch up to the helicopter. While she is doing this, a henchman takes note of the beeping sound. When he looks on the radar he sees to his surprise something on their tail which could only mean one thing…
"Sir Spider-Man is headed for us!"
"WHAT!" Luke cries out. Growling, he grabs something round, placing it around JJ's neck.
"When that electric-explosive necktie gets far away from this transmitter it will be bye-bye, Jonah! Even if he catches you it will light you two up like Time Square."
Jonah pales. "Catches me?!"
"That's right, Jameson! Have a nice flight!" The hatch of the copter opens, the wind rushing through the entire compartment of the vehicle. Seconds later, Jonah is screaming at the top of lungs as he is free-falling down to the fog below.
"Gotcha!" a feminine voice says. Jonah is saved all right, but it isn't Spider-Man who catches him, because he knows Spider-Man is not a petite man nor does he have a small frame. Scampering, the man looks down and turns green as he is carried through the air like a sack of potatoes.
"Oh, that's just great. You're the other costumed spider vigilante! What is this world coming to?!"
"Don't make me drop you," Silk says, unimpressed.
"Well, toots, you can't because I have this electrical collar around my neck! So, don't let the copter get away, or else it will electrocute us both while blowing up in your face!"
"What a shocking development."
"Hey! No jokes! My life is at stake here, so quit your yapping and follow them!"
"I wonder if it's too late to drop him?" Silk murmurs under her breath. "SPIDER-SENSE!" She twists out of the way from flying missiles that zoom past her. "Well that was a close one." Her spider-sense tingles once again and when she looks back the same two missiles are coming at her. "Me and my big mouth!"
The missiles are coming in red-hot. Silk manages to dodge by zipping upward, however the missiles follow her there too. "Damn it! They're heat seekers!"
She knows that if she dodges them again, they would follow. Soon an idea comes to her. Quickly, she makes a net for Jonah between two buildings, then lets herself fall freestyle, passing by the missile, then she flips over, catching one of them with webbing.
The other soon does a one-hundred and eighty, charging at the girl's full speed. Using the momentum she gained, she spins around several times before releasing the other missile which collides with the first, causing an explosion.
"Well, that wasn't too bad," she says, web-swinging away from the smoke onto a building. She quickly picks up Jonah on the way. "How are you feeling, Jameson?"
"Like I'm going to hurl…ugh…"
"You hurl on me and you are going to see my foot where the sun doesn't shine, honey." She concentrates, using her spider-sense as Peter said. It blares as the helicopter fires more heat seekers. Luckily for her, she is near a building with concrete walls, providing cover from the projectiles.
The aircraft follows, unleashing gunshots as she runs across the rooftop. Since that does not work, a missile is fired, coming in fast. Letting Jonah down is the easy part as she pushes him away a good thirty feet, as she somersaults over the oncoming flying bomb. While in midair she catches it, flings back to the copter which is now smoking. A lone figure pops out of the helicopter.
"Sorry boys, but I'm handing you your walking papers!" Scorcher pushes a button, thus causing the helicopter to explode.
Upon seeing this, Cindy is devastated. She feels like she is going to throw up. She can feel the bile rising to her throat from her stomach. She swallows it down as she yells out, "You just killed your men, why? How could you do such a thing!?"
"So why should I care? Expendable, they are! I don't tolerate failures! I did the same thing with Canus industries by blowing it up. A fun fact, that used to be my office building!" he says with dark laughter. "I warned you not to get involved, so…"
Floating a few feet away from her, he gets a good look at her. "Hmm … you may be wearing his shield somewhat, but you are nothing like that wall-crawling nuisance. I'm surprised… I never knew that anyone in this city would care for this sleazy publisher."
"I think care is too much of a strong word to use," Silk says.
"Hey!" The editor in chief protests.
"Let's test that, shall we?" the man chuckles darkly. He unleashes a stream of fire towards her.
She jumps out of the way, landing on a water tower, mocking him. "Come on, I know you can do better than that, or is your aim worse than your bark?"
He fires a rocket from his back. Silk dodges it and redirects it back to him. The missile explosion damages his suit, losing him his ability to fly.
"No, my suit! You'll pay for that!"
Again, the madman fires another rocket and Silk does the same thing by redirecting it back to him. The explosion causes the madman to be sent flying over a nearby wall. The newly rookie hero stomps on him, knocking him out cold. Police and personal are coming as the sirens drew closer to their location.
"Nice job rookie!" Silk turns to see Spider-Man with the explosive electric collar in his hand.
"Let's go home."
"Don't expect a thank you from me or that I'm going to take it easy on you," Jameson says, and then he adds, "And I don't know what you are trying to pull by saving my life, but it won't work."
"Ho-oh you are just too clever for me JJ…" Spider-Man says sarcastically, firing a web line. "Another thing, you are out of the will and I mean it this time!"
Swinging from Clinton to patrol the city Silk is unusually quiet. They stop somewhere in Time Square, on top of the ball drop for the new year. Spider-Man notices that Silk is hugging herself tightly.
"Hey, you okay?"
She looks back. "No…"
"Do you want to talk about it?" Spider-Man says, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her close.
Cindy leans into him, resting her head on his shoulder. Her whole body shakes with fury. "How can people be so cruel!" Spidey rubs her arm as she continues. "I knew that there were going to be bad people in this world, but to go that far, to kill someone just because…and without remorse … it-it sickens me!"
"Cindy, you have to understand something. The heart is desperately wicked, especially when it comes to money. People would do anything for money. It never gets any easier. People will violate their conscience even sell their souls just to have a little bit of wealth."
"It's not fair. That man Luke Carlyle … he didn't need to kill those men. He just blew up the helicopter right before my eyes, and I couldn't do a damn thing to stop him!"
"Life is not fair, Cindy. I learned that a long time ago. We will be facing villains who pale in comparison to what you experienced, and trust me, we cannot save everyone. The sooner you understand that, the better you will be."
She sighs. Her mouth opens to talk but she is cut off by a peal of twisted feminine laughter.
"We interrupt your boring daily life routine to bring brand-new content, we introduce you to the She-Venom marathon on the biggest TV in New York! We're shouting out to the whole rotten apple here, people!"
All of Time Square stops, looking at the screen. Silk and Spider-Man go to a different building to get a better view of the crazed symbiote woman.
"You want to know the sad thing?" Peter deadpans. "She might get a talk show after this."
She-Venom speaks again. "So we got this beautiful redhead. You know her, she is one of those famous fashion bimbos. HEHE…we have decided that this poor little lassie has twenty-four hours to live! Twenty-four hours! Oh, by the way, her name is Mary Jane Watson!"
'Leave the girl to her demise!' Symbian says
Spider-Man ignores his symbiote tenant, glaring at the screen.
"So just in case someone…and I know who it can be…if any of you tight-wearing freaks out there want to save little miss fashion model, then bring it on! Meanwhile New Yorkers, the She-Venom marathon will continue! And before I forget, here is a hint … out of the ashes we build, from a great fall we rise to reach towards the sky, our height 1776. What am I?" She-Venom growls and laughs, creeping Silk out like never before, especially with that tongue.
"Gross…" Silk shivers.
"Get used to seeing that," Spidey says. "You are going to see that a lot. Anyway, my first clue, but why a riddle? 'Out of the ashes we build, from a great fall we rise to reach towards the sky, our height 1776.'" Spidey ponders a little bit.
"Hmm…look, I know you have until tomorrow, but what are we going to do about those armed men that we faced earlier?" Silk asks.
"Those men were mercenary, so that means someone hired serious muscles, and I might know who it is."
"Oh?"
LaGuardia Airport – 10:00 pm
Silvia Sablinova, otherwise known as Silver Sable, dons a white coat with a light and dark gray uniform underneath. She has piercing blue eyes and eyebrows that possess a similar color to her hair. She carries two gray pistols, which are stored on the left and right side of her waist when she is not in battle. Her forehead consists of her silver headband (this woman likes silver, doesn't she?) with her long hair reaching past her shoulders.
Her eyes lock on a limo with a guard waiting for her. She steps off her private plane with a few cases of luggage with her. She says not a word as she descends the stairs that are attached to her plane.
Trained from early childhood by the most accomplished warriors in the world, Silver Sable is an extraordinary hand-to-hand combatant, and skilled in various martial arts. Though her inspiration came from her father who was a Nazi hunter, considered to be the best in Europe, even working alongside James Howlett, simply known as the Canadian at the time.
Her mother was murdered when the home she shared with both her parents was bombed. Silver begged her father to train her, so she could avenge her mother. And though he tried his best to discourage her, he soon realized her potential, and she soon began joining him on hunts. After his death, she assumed command of the Wild Pack and became the founder and owner of Sable International.
She enters her limo as the guard places her stuff into the trunk. She pulls her laptop out and begins research on her target known as Venom.
She was intrigued when her client wanted Eddie Brock captured alive. She goes through the file her employers gave her. She is intrigued when she reads that the man had a various run-in with New York City vigilantly Spider-Man. A personal vendetta against him? That could be a possibility, another possibility she thinks is that she will most likely run into Spider-Man.
She clicks on a different file which lists two weaknesses for the symbiote. She begins to formulate a plan, writing down notes. Now all she has to do is begin the hunt with all her gadgets. This should not be a problem for her, since all her weaponry is moved on the notion of official business.
She clicks on the internet. The first thing she notices from the news is that there is a female Venom.
"Interesting." She mutters and shrugs. "The job is still the same. Male or female, I must complete my mission."
Her limo disappears into the night, heading for her estate which is located somewhere in the Flat Iron district. It is better to get more information on her target before she goes on the hunt. Better safe than sorry.
Ryker island
"Man, what a dump! No pool, no stereo! And weirdoes everywhere you look!"
The sound of Cletus Kasady's voice echoes the hallway of Ryker's. He is strapped in a jacket on a trolley. He laughs wickedly. "Though fellas I do have to give you thanks for the smooth ride. I sincerely hope I can return the curtsy by slaughtering you quickly with minimal agony."
The guards unstrap him from the trolley, pushing him into his jail cell. "Get in there, you lunatic!"
"Aw, don't I get a goodbye kiss? Or are you afraid that I'm going to bite!"
The guards push him away, then they leave.
"Eleven prison sentences without parole! Isn't that a shame?" He chuckles darkly, then turns to the window of his cell. It looks like it is moving.
Now Cletus is not easily frightened but it certainly creeped him out that the night moved. "Eh, the th-the night. It's alive!"
Then suddenly a red goo covers him, and he yells.
Guards come quickly to his cell. "What in blazes is going on! Kasady, are you alright!"
"Cletus Kasady is no more! There is only Carnage!" Tendrils shoot out of the new symbiote bonded-person as the security tries to subdue the super-powered insane criminal. After dealing with them, he bursts open the bar cell window. "Man, think of all the chaos I could do with this power! Time to get busy!"
He breaks out of his confinement space as he thinks to himself, 'Better yet, why not be the hero that everyone been waiting for…hehehehehe. Maybe going after people who done wrong would be a thrill!'
Somewhere else Spider-Man and Silk are enjoying their takeout on a rooftop in China Town. It is getting late, so they decide to get something to eat before they visit Fisk Towers. Cindy takes a bite of her egg roll as she looks at the horizon of the night sky, filled with the lights of the City that never sleeps.
"It's beautiful."
"Hm-hmm." Spidey takes a bite of his fried chicken. "Man, does this chicken taste good! I could eat this every day for dinner."
"You do realize that in China this is fake Chinese food, not authentic. This is a watered-down version and trust me I have been to China once or twice when I was younger. For example, American style Lo Mein noodles are thick wheat flour noodles that are stir-fried with vegetables or meat. It's usually a heavy, greasy, and flavorless dish. Zha Jiang Mian is a much more flavorful, authentic Chinese noodle dish, topped with delicious, stir-fried pork and Zhanjiang."
"You sure know your dish."
"It comes with the territory." She smiles. "So, you mentioned Wilson Fisk earlier. Why are we going to his territory?"
"We need to find out why the mercenaries were hired and for what reason, then we try to find evidence on the old fat man himself. Fisk runs a shady business. He is known for his philanthropist ways on the outside, yet on the inside the guy's a monster. Especially in the underworld of crime."
"I see-Spider-sense! OW!"
"What happened!"
"Something bit me." Reaching behind her neck, Cindy pulls a dart out from the skin. Just then another shot fires towards Spider-Man.
'I got it!' Symbian says. 'Don't worry, those darts can't penetrate me.'
While Peter is trying to figure out who shot the darts, Cindy's vision begins to blur. She starts getting motion sickness, and soon begins falling forward. Spider-Man quickly moves his food to the side and races to catch the falling girl. He spins a web line and rushes to catch her. As he does this, he spots the second object and catches that one as well.
He bungees back to their eating spot and pulls her mask to her face. "Cindy, are you alright!"
"I-I feel… dizzy."
Peter then sees a flaming spider burning not too far from their position. Placing her arm around his neck, he goes to the place where the logo is. He looks down at the dart. There is something remarkably familiar about this dart, but he cannot quite place it. Meanwhile, a few buildings away, Kraven smirks as he sees his prey coming towards the spider-logo through his scope. "That's it, spider, come closer."
Sitting Cindy on the ground, he inspects the spider. It is then he knows who is behind this. It isn't the first time he'd seen this wooden craft. Another dart hits and he hisses from the sting. Luckily the symbiote guard is up, making him needle proof, unlike his counterpart.
"Show yourself!"
A few tense moments go by, then he hears a familiar Russian accent. "Greetings, Man-Spider!"
"Kraven!"
"Ah, so you remember me yes?" The hunter says, playing with a dagger. "Then you and I, little spider, will dance the dance of death. We'll see which is the better hunter."
"You know, you're just as crazy when I first met you." Spider-Man says. "But if it's a fight you want, it's a fight you're going to get! And when I win, you'll give me the antidote."
"Come, little Spider, I'll show you my blade and when your life leaves your corpse, I'll take your mask as my reward, but my employers want you alive. Engarde!"

Responses to the reviewers
TheReckless1One: Interesting, a remarkably interesting thing on Tony's background but I think Tony having a sibling is meh. In my opinion I don't think he needs one either. Though I am glad you picked up on the dialogue because I think it fits best when it comes to Teresa and Peter meeting however, I'm still a bit steamed that Marvel hasn't confirmed anything yet. Having a surprise death like Pyrrha did in RWBY? It a possibility that something could happen to one of the characters down the line so we will see.
Antex-The Legendary Zoroark: Hm-hm, though I will say those limits will be tested eventually. Now, I would not go too far in making her this hybrid symbiote person, like Cletus, the symbiote that still in her will have a more a harder time being removed since it will be a blood bond. I think Marvel and DC do have crossover with Spider-Man teaming up with Bats to take down Joker and Carnage, but I don't remember what issue it was…
Spiderman1fan: Wait and see what happens in the future
Soledge1: I think that's one thing the Animated series did right, go the Super solider route than luck base that's is more Domino thing than Felicia. Now tell you the truth yes I did make that up that Angelica Jones (Firestar) dated Peter but the potential is there if Marvel would decide to do it I think there was soft love triangle between Bobby and Peter. Ah Screwball, I really despised that woman…she was annoying with her PHOTOBOMBS! :D -_- You can bet on it that she will be making an appearance soon.
kaffeenator666: Aw, and here I was enjoying reading the longer reviews T T. Lol, anyway Peter and Cindy relationship will be explored to the best I can write it and I am still having a dilemma who the official pairing is going to be however an idea is on my head that I written down in my notes section about the pairing that way I don't multiple pairings. Don't worry you may feel rob now but hopefully if Teresa pulls through you will see a lot more brother sister bonding. Now Kaffeenator, hopefully this answers your question in which person gets which Symbiote. ; ) And thanks
NOnormal99: Upgrades will happen later down the road when Starks creates everyone favorite Iron suit. Right now, it's just the symbiote for now. Now what am I going to about Ashley? Nothing for now, she just going on with what is given to her. I tend to stay away from any Spider-Man harem stories it kills the character and to be honest Peter isn't a pimp to be with every celestial, Marvel or DC girl and I hate it when authors make Spider-Man into this masochist like person but to each his/her own I suppose. Now Madam Webb being in the story? Is up for debate, I don't know if Cassandra is going to be Madam Webb or Julia so I don't know if Madam Webb is going to be here to be honest. We'll see…
