A few days after their last encounter, Trini, Zack , Lauren and Tennaya gathered in the garage at the back of Billy's place. The former blue ranger had been working tirelessly to try and fix Tennaya's morpher but he wasn't having much success. Even though he had 'retired' from ranger business, he had offered to take a look over the morpher. As the he had worked with th technology for so long, he was the best person to get it working again.
Occasionally the moprher would spark, raising the hopes of the teens but still they refused to work. In the corner of Billy's garage was Alpha , or what was left of him. After Drakon's attack his internal circuitry had been damaged, rendering him inoperable. Fortunately his CPU hadn't been affected so his personally could be easily restored.
The teens watched nervously from their perch on one of the workbenches. In the middle of the room, Billy took a soldering iron to the tyranno sentry morpher before sealing the back shut. He placed it on a long metal tube before saying, "Alright fingers crossed everyone". He began tapping something into his laptop to activate the localised morphing grid around the devices. For a few seconds everything looked hopeful until the morpher emitted a massive bang. Smoke poured from the device along with a large quantity of sparks. Billy quickly shut down the morphing sequence to prevent further damage.
Trini waived some smoke away from her face, "Well it's closer than we've gotten before", she choked.
Billy pulled off his safety goggles and tossed them onto the workbench, "It is but we're still a long way from getting them working again. The morpher isn't connecting with the universal morphing grid due to the damage caused by the Corona Aurora. Until I get the auxiliary primers and primary stabilisers online then they probably won't work at all".
The teens glazed over at Billy's jargon filled explanation, "I'm going to pretend I understand what that meant", Tennaya replied.
"Put simply there's still several months of work needed to get them back online", Billy stated.
"Several months", Zack exclaimed, "but Drakon is probably ready to attack now".
"I realise that Zack but it took me several months to build the things the first time", Billy pulled the Morpher off the holding tube. "Effectively I'm starting again from scratch".
Lauren and the others sighed, "I know you're doing your best Billy", the tricera sentry began, "it's just frustrating sitting around doing nothing".
"Without Alpha " Billy began
"Your not sure what to do", Trini replied,
"Yeah, also why are you here?, shouldn't you be leading?" Billy asked
Are you trying to get rid of us?" she smiled.
"Not at all", Billy began, "but it would be quicker if you left me to work. It's distracting having you watching me all the time. Perhaps you can try and track down the Ranger Slayer again".
"Alright, we'll catch you later Billy", Trini answered for everyone. They bid him farewell before leaving Billy alone in his garage
Standing up Billy picked at a few loose wires that were poking out of Alpha, "Perhaps I'll try and get you working", he said to himself, "I'm more likely to have some success with that". He picked up a screwdriver and began to fiddle with the internal wiring.
Angel Grove Youth Center
The teens slowly made their way towards the Youth Center, they weren't really sure why as the place wasn't even open. It had taken the brunt of Drakon's fury and it was nothing but a burned out shell. Fortunately no one was injured in the attack but the building itself had been condemned by the city. They turned the corner just in time to see a wrecking ball smash its way through the side of the building. A few more blows later and the popular hangout for teenagers had been reduced to a pile of rubble. "I think I'm sadder to see the end of the Youth Center than I am the Power Chamber", Zack commented.
"I know what you mean", Trini added, "this place has been around for as long as I can remember". The teens then saw a familiar blonde haired woman sitting on a wall opposite the Youth Center. Shuffling over to her, the woman smiled at the teens.
"Hey guys", Kat began, "I was just taking one last look at the place".
"I suppose it's not every day you see your place of employment levelled by a wrecking ball", Trini commented.
"We were just saying how we're going to miss this place", Lauren began, "although I won't miss my clothes smelling like a banana smoothie".
Kat sighed, "It feels very final", a bulldozer began to clear away some of the rubble,
"What are you going to do now?" Lauren asked.
"I dunno", Kat replied, " They may offer me a place on the new Terra Venture project,".
"Well if you need it we'll vouch for you", Tennaya stated.
"Yeah we've got your back", Lauren added and the others nodded in agreement.
"Thanks guys", Kat sniffed and wiped her eyes, "sorry it's the brick dust", she added but the teens didn't look convinced. After a few moments she finished clearing her eyes, "Any luck getting your powers back?"
Tennaya shook her head, "Billy's working on it but he's only got basic tools to work with", She began, "I think we're just going to have to accept that my powers are gone".
"Think positive guys", Kat replied, "I'm sure something will turn up soon". Just then the teens saw someone walk around the corner with a large box in her arms. They almost didn't recognise her in a pair of baggy blue jeans and pink t-shirt but the brown hair was a dead giveaway. Kim's eyes widened when she saw the teens and he immediately turned around and starting walking the other way.
"Hey Kim wait up", Trini called out. She gave Kat a quick hug, "catch you later". The teens ran to catch up with the ranger slayer who was moving quickly across the park. She tried to move through the trees but the teens split up and succeeded in boxing her in. Seeing that she had nowhere to go, she sighed and put her box down on the floor.
"Are you avoiding us now?" Trini stated with annoyance.
"Well, you guys have been vocal at ending me", Kim began, she rubbed the back of his neck and looked towards the ground, "I'm just a bit embarrassed, our last meeting didn't end well". She quickly looked over at Tennaya before continuing, "I've been under Drakon's mind control for so long".
"I get that", Trini replied, "but we need to help each other out"", the others nodded in agreement. Kim bit her lip as she thought about her response. She didn't get to deliver it though as several Masterdon sentries appeared in the park and surrounded the group.
"Man not these guys again", Tennaya grumbled.
"Get out of here", Kim cried, "you don't have the power to fight them".
"Oh trust me, i do", Tennaya replied as she prepared to fight.
"Yeah cause that worked out well last time", she shot back. She instantly regretted bringing up the loss of her powers, "I'm sorry, I just don't want you to get hurt".
"She's right, guys take cover", Lauren stated before kicking a Masterdon sentry in the gut. She followed that up by jamming a stick into its chest, shorting out the circuits. The ranger slayer leapt into battle, morphing in mid air, Lauren then morphed herself.
Backed into a corner, the coinless were relieved when the Ranger slayer and Tricera sentry came to their assistance. She moved quickly, slicing through Masterdon sentries with her bow of darkness as she went, Kim glanced around and realised how close he had been to getting cut down. Lauren blasting the last sentry in the stomach, she turned around to face Lauren and the Coinless, "Thank you, I owe you one", she said before powering down.
"Maybe we're not as helpless as you think", Tennaya replied.
Kim sighed, "Maybe not be so hostile to the person helping you restore your powers yeah" Kim said, Tennaya looked down embarrassed. Kim tossed a morpher she grabbed from a fallen sentry to Trini, " This should help " she said. In a flash of coloured light the ranger slayer disappeared from the park.
Once they got back to Billy's garage, they put the Drakon tyranno coin into the morpher, however another problem arose, the morpher worked allowing Trini to morph into a tyranno sentry, however Tennaya couldn't seem to morph at all.
" I was afraid of this" Billy began " It seems the Corona Aurora not only cut your morpher from the grid but also you yourself, i fear you may never be able to morph again.
Trini, Zack and Lauren looked at Billy, while Tennaya just looked down.
" You should find a replacement" Tennaya began " Now that I'm useless to you I'm going to head back to Corinth "
