Rosalie found her place with Freckles, all of the mingling between the students and other people quieting as Ben arrived. The choir in the stands began to sing, signifying Ben was approaching. She found herself stroking Freckles' head to comfort herself. Ben was becoming king today, there was no reason she should be panicking about something she couldn't control. The doors opened to show Ben making his way to King Beast and Queen Belle. The king and queen stood to meet their son. The guests all bowed or curtsied when Ben walked into the room. Fairy Godmother met Ben on the stand. She hugged Belle and curtsied to Beast before removing his crown.
Ben kneeled while she put the crown on his head. Beast removed the bell jar from over the wand and Belle grabbed it to hand to Fairy Godmother. Rosalie watched on feeling her pride for her best friend through her uneasy feeling. He would make a wonderful king.
"Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?" Fairy Godmother asked.
"I do solemnly swear," Ben swore his oath.
"Then it is my honor and my joy to bless our new king."
Before Fairy Godmother could continue, her wand was snatched from her hand. Rosalie released an audible gasp of surprise. She was even more surprised when she saw that it was Jane who was holding Fairy Godmother's wand. Jane couldn't control the wand's power and it shot a bolt of magic.
"Child what are you doing?!" Rosalie didn't think she had ever heard Fairy Godmother's voice raise like that.
Ben was standing in front of his parents. Rosalie and Freckles were still standing with Mal while the rest of the crowd had backed away in fear. Rosalie could feel herself growing pale and she began to tremble.
"If you won't make me beautiful I'll do it myself!" Jane yelled back.
Jane was frantically waving the wand around causing rogue sparks to fly each and every way. Mal ran over to battle Jane for the wand. Rosalie wasn't sure if she felt better or worse at seeing Mal win the fight.
Ben ran forward, "Mal, give me the wand."
"Stand back," Mal warned.
"It's okay."
"Ben, I said stand back!"
"I told you so!" Audrey moved forward a bit to snap her words.
Rosalie couldn't help but throw the girl a heated glare. Mal pointed the wand toward Audrey and she jumped back. Rosalie continued to tremble but she refused to move. She couldn't tell if it was because she was afraid or if it was because she was being stubborn. Maybe a bit of both. Evie, Carlos, and Jay all ran up behind Mal. Rosalie felt her heart begin to crumble. She could feel the tears beginning to well up in her eyes at the sight of the villain kids.
"Let's go." Carlos pleaded, avoiding looking at Rosalie.
"Revenge time," Jay added.
"You really want to do this?" Ben questioned in disbelief.
"We have no choice, Ben! Our parents-"
"Your parents made their choice! Now you make yours."
Rosalie felt a tear escape and slide down her cheek. Carlos finally made eye contact with the strawberry blonde. Her vision was blurry through her tears, but she could still see the sadness in his eyes. She put a hand to her mouth to stop herself from sobbing.
"I think I want to be good." Mal finally announced.
"You are good!" Ben insisted.
"How do you know that?"
"Because, because I'm listening to my heart."
"I want to listen to my heart too." Mal began to lower the wand and she turned to her friends, "And my heart is telling me that we are not our parents."
Mal turned to Jay first, "I mean, stealing things doesn't make you happy. Tourney and victory pizza with the team makes you happy."
Jay smiled at the truth behind Mal's words. She turned her words to Carlos next.
"And you, being with Rosalie and scratching Dude's belly makes you happy. Who would've thought?"
Carlos smiled back and turned to make eye contact again with Rosalie. A few more tears had slipped from her eyes, but this time, they were out of happiness. She was trying to wipe her tears from her cheeks as she smiled back at the de Vil.
"And Evie, you do not have to play dumb to get a guy. You are so smart."
Mal's words made Evie teary too.
"And I don't want to take over the world with evil. It doesn't make me happy. I want to go to school. And be with Ben. Because Ben makes me really happy."
Mal turned back to Ben with her hand raised with his ring on her finger. She turned back to the other villain kids.
"Us being friends makes me really happy. Not destroying things. I chose good you guys."
Mal put her fist in the middle of the four. Jay was the first one to make a move.
"I chose good too." he agreed, putting his fist next to Mal's.
"I chose good." Evie added, putting her fist in next.
"So, just to be clear, we don't have to be worried about how really mad our parents will be?" Carlos asked, "Cuz they're going to be really, really mad."
"Your parents can't reach you here." Ben informed.
"Okay then," Carlos turned his gaze back to Rosalie who was fighting a fresh wave of tears, "Good."
Mal nodded her head toward the group for both Rosalie and Ben to join them. Ben stood next to Mal as he put his fist in with them. Rosalie tried to wipe away her tears before she found herself standing next to Carlos who wrapped his free arm around her waist. Rosalie then put her fist in with the others too.
A few seconds later, thunder sounded through the room causing gasps and a couple of screams to sound. The villain kids instantly ducked, Carlos pulling Rosalie with him. They knew what the sound was. They knew what it meant. Green smoke filled the room as Maleficent materialized in front of them. Carlos was quick to push Rosalie behind him. She grasped onto his arm as she felt herself begin to tremble again.
"I'm back!" Maleficent sang.
"Go away, mother," Mal demanded.
"Oh she's funny," Maleficent cackled and snorted, "You're very funny. Here. Wand me, chop chop."
"No!" Ben yelled.
Mal turned to throw the wand to Fairy Godmother. Fairy Godmother caught the wand and went to cast a spell. Maleficent cut her off with a spell of her own. Everyone in the room froze except for the villain kids. Rosalie's grip on Carlos's arm had disappeared because of Maleficent's spell. He had to turn to make sure she was still there. Meanwhile Maleficent was messing with Beast and Fairy Godmother. She pulled the wand from Fairy Godmother's hand.
"Where should we start?" Maleficent asked once she held the wand, "I know. Why don't we start with getting rid of this?" Maleficent waved the wand and Ben's ring disappeared from Mal's finger and flew onto the wand, "Perfect fit!"
Mal held the hand that had the ring to her chest.
"Falling in love is weak. And ridiculous. It's not what you want."
"You don't know what I want!" Mal retorted, "Mom, have you ever once asked me what I want? I'm not you!"
"Well obviously! I've had years and years and years and years of practice being evil. You'll get there!"
"No, I will not! And I really wish that you had never got there yourself. Love is not weak. Or ridiculous. It's actually really amazing."
"I know one thing, young lady. You have no room for love in your life!"
"And now I command wand to my hand!" Fairy Godmother's wand was magically pulled from Maleficent's grasp into Mal's, "It worked!"
"I hardly think so! Frankly, this is tedious and very immature! Give me the wand, give me the wand!"
"Hold on Mal," Carlos spoke up, still protectively in front of Rosalie, "Maybe good really is more powerful than evil."
At that moment, both Freckles and Dude went to attack Maleficent. She threw Dude away from her and pushed Freckles away with her scepter. Jay went to try and pull the scepter from her grasp. Maleficent felt Jay's muscles before she flicked him in the forehead to get him to let go magically.
"Gaston should be jealous." she commented, "Enough! You all will regret this!"
Maleficent then turned into a dragon. The villain kids began to run the other way. Jay went the opposite way to avoid Maleficent's flames.
"Come on Jay! Run!" the villain kids were yelling at him.
Once Jay was back with the other three, Evie stepped forward with her mirror, "Magic mirror shine your bright light!"
Temporarily blinding Maleficent, it caused her to be grounded as she couldn't see where to fly.
"Get behind me Eve!" Mal pushed Evie behind her, "Leave my friends alone! This is between you and me mother. The strength of evil is as good as none when stands before four hearts as one. The strength of evil is as good as none when stands before four hearts as one. The strength of evil is as good as none when stands before four hearts as one."
Mal won the standoff against her mother. The dragon let out a yowl before it shrunk. Fairy Godmother was also freed from the enchantment.
"What just happened?" Carlos asked.
"I have no idea," Mal replied.
"Did you do it?" Evie questioned.
"I don't know!"
"No, no, no," Fairy Godmother interjected, "Your mother did. She shrank to the size of the love in her heart. That's why it's so itty bitty."
"Is she going to be like that forever?"
"Well, forever is a long time. You learned to love. So can she."
"I believe this belongs to you," Mal handed over Fairy Godmother's wand.
Fairy Godmother picked up Ben's ring, "And I believe this, belongs to you. You all have earned yourselves an A in goodness class."
The villain kids laughed as Fairy Godmother cast the enchantment to turn everything back the way it was. Both Ben and Beast let out roars after being unfrozen. Mal went to calm Ben down. Carlos turned and ran directly into Rosalie. He grabbed her waist before she could stumble from their impact.
"I knew it. I knew you were good." Rosalie laughed through her tears.
Carlos grinned and moved a hand to wipe away the tears that were on her cheeks before he quickly kissed her forehead then moved the two over to Ben, Mal, Jay, and Evie. The two had joined back into the conversation just to see a footman putting the bell jar over what was now Maleficent.
"Hey! Careful! That's my mom!" Mal warned.
"Well, let's get this party started!" Jay whooped.
"Oh way oh way oh hey!"

Ben started off the party being carried in by a couple of other guys. Mal was quick to join him in singing.

Rosalie couldn't be happier mingling with everyone else. She was watching Ben have the time of his life while she played with Freckles in her now shorter dress. She jumped when she was spun around to face Carlos. Her smile widened as he pulled her to dance with him.

Rosalie was breathless when the song finished. She found herself in Carlos's embrace and she returned it in full force. After they pulled away, Rosalie grinned and leaned up on her toes to kiss the de Vil. Carlos cupped one of her cheeks to kiss her back. After they pulled away, Carlos gazed down at the small strawberry blonde. Rosalie smiled back at him. All she could think was how happy she was that she had helped Ben with his first royal proclamation those months ago.
She wasn't sure what the future would bring, but she knew she would be ready with Carlos by her side. Oh, and Freckles too.
