A/N Welcome back everyone!
Here we are with Chapter 10! Louise finally gets her but off a deserted planet, it only took her what 14 years?
Alright, I'm going to also shake things up a bit and be responding to reviews down below this time around. So! Without further ado onto the chapter!
Mercury 14 Years since Risen
Louise watched as the train resting on its tracks was slowly lowered beneath the tracks into the station's storage compartment. Golden age tech sure is something' Louise thought to herself as she stepped away. Saito had first described it to her as 'underground parking for cars, only this was for trains.' Louise had given him a funny look as the only term she was familiar with was a train. She had thought he had been referring to a carriage drawn by a horse, but when she asked, Saito was the one giving her a funny look.
Raising her head she saw Atlas had landed his ship with its cockpit facing away from them and its rear ramp open to its armory for them to embark. He was standing at the base of the ramp with his oversized machine gun on his back much to Louise's gratitude, she'd been shredded by shrapnel launchers from fallen captains, toasted by Vex slap rifles, had her head stomped on by a minotaur, and not to mention all the various ways she was either evaporated arc energy or burnt to ashes by sol energy. Taking all that into account she did not want to experience possibly being shredded by the oversized weapon, Granted, she doubted it would be nearly as painful as some of her previous deaths, she was not looking to write a novel on all the various ways she had gotten killed over the years.
Making her way to the base of the ramp she was forced to tilt her head up at his enormous frame, with the top of her head barely reaching the center of his chest. She was tempted for a moment to use her light to float up to eye level with him, but a quick reminder from Saito of how rude that may seem shot that idea down.
"So," She asked. "What now?"
Atlas looked down at her before motioning to his ship. "Now, we make way for the tower on earth. Hop aboard, the flight should only take a few hours, so please make yourself comfortable."
As Louise made her way aboard Saito popped out of her head and seemed to be glancing about skeptically. "Umm, how do we know the jump drive in this ship won't explode when we arrive? Just asking for a friend…" he asked nonchalantly.
"You mean like the last ship you flew here?" Louise deadpanned.
Saito let out the equivalent of a cough, the edges of his shell bobbing downwards as he did so. He was very grateful ghosts did not have faces or his would have been bright red. Louise noticed how the edges of his shell seemed to have closed in on his eye ever so slightly, she knew that it was his embarrassed look. Having spent fourteen years with him as her only companion, allowed her plenty of time to read his extremely subtle expressions.
Atlas overheard Louise's comment and turned to Saito. "Wait you stole a jump ship!?" He asked, surprised.
"Technically, I just salvaged one seeing as the last city didn't really have any laws about Jumpships just yet. Well besides don't steal them from others and don't piss off the Warlords for the Traveller's sake." Saito said. "The one I grabbed had a jump drive, a single-use jump drive which I hoped would last one round trip. I didn't realize it was only really good for a one-way ticket…"
Atlas facepalmed upon hearing Saito's words, Jump drives were in very short supply, so much so that they often are required to go and salvage them from fallen ships to use as their own. Chances were that the one Saito had burned could have just been in need of some small repairs, or maybe a refill on coolant. Now it had been completely totaled beyond any chance of repair, he didn't even want to know about what happened to the rest of the ship.
"Just climb aboard, make yourselves comfortable, and don't touch anything." Atlas began to move to the cockpit before he turned back and added, "Please." Louise compiled but had a very difficult time resisting the urge to pick up some of the enormous weapons hung up on the walls. She'd been stuck making use of Fallen weaponry that she had stolen from their camps, seeing as her only other option had been the Vex weaponry but she'd never been able to quite figure out how they worked, simply pulling the trigger wasn't enough. It was a shame, she had really been looking forward to blasting a Minotaur with one of its own cannons, letting them feel the frustration of being blown to smithereens for once.
Atlas suddenly felt a chill go down his spine as he watched the little Guardian examine his arsenal on display. His variety of weapons had always been one of his proudest achievements and he had always kept his favorites on display. However, while he had been proud to show the weapons to the little Guardian the wave of bloodlust she suddenly exhibited set him on edge for a moment. After about a minute she seemingly snapped out of it, much to Atlas's relief.
'She is definitely something' Atlas mentally spoke to Gaea.
'Yes, her sudden fits of hostility do concern me, however, I do not believe her anger is directed towards us. I'd like to try speaking with her, I cannot imagine fourteen years of isolation with anyone but her Ghost for her company could have been for her. Well, I suppose at the very least she had someone to speak with.' Gaea's soft voice of reason rang through his link. Atlas was very grateful to have Gaea as his ghost, she was more often than not the voice of reason when arguments got heated or just out of hand.
'Very well, but please exercise caution around her. I'm going to get us into orbit, once we Jump I'll come back and join you two.' Atlas said as he made his way to the front of the ship. He suddenly felt Gaea's presence disappear from his mind as he sat down, it was an odd feeling for him. He wasn't the only one that felt it either, all Guardians did whenever their Ghost left their heads, if he had to describe it, it would be similar to having a patch of warmth in one's head, only for it to suddenly go from warm to room temperature. Sighing to himself he started prepping his ship for launch. In the distance behind him, he could hear Gaea strike up a conversation with their guests in the back.
"Excuse me, I hope I'm not bothering you two, but seeing as we all have a long ride ahead of us I was hoping we could get to know one another a little better." Gaea's soft voice rang out from behind him, "Tell me is it true the two of you spent the last fourteen years on Mercury?"
Atlas smiled to himself as he overheard their conversation, Gaea was always better with people than he ever would be. He was a Titan, a fighter, the first one into the battlefield and the last one to leave, he was not a diplomat who sat behind a desk and dealt with people and papers all day.
After a few minutes of chatting back and forth with Atlas's ghost whom she had introduced herself as Gaea Louise felt much more at ease in Atlas's ship. Their conversation, however, was cut short when Atlas suddenly called them to the front of the ship so they could "enjoy the view" Louise was a tad skeptical but agreed nonetheless. Granted she did make certain to have a void grenade on standby in the event that he tried anything.
Due to her height, she had no worries about hitting her head on the doorway to the cockpit of the ship. Looking out the front of the ship she saw the night sky, although that wasn't right, it was mid-day when they left which meant they still had a good three months of daylight left before nightfall provided she didn't travel too much. She turned to question Atlas sitting in the Pilot's seat when she suddenly lost her breath at the sight before her. The void energy she had been charging dissipated in an instant when her focus was completely torn from keeping it present.
It took her only a moment to register what she saw, and while it was certainly far from beautiful it was still a sight to behold. In all her years exploring she had never seen much more than desert sands and greatly destroyed superstructures from an age long passed. From where she was now there was no way to tell any life had ever existed on the planet, yet despite that it was still the planet she had always called home. It felt so surreal to her, the world she had always called home looked so peaceful from where she was. She had always loved stopping her train in-between towns to enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding desert. It was always so frustrating when the Fallen or Vex showed up and interrupted her, but up here she felt the likelihood of that happening was very little. She was almost tempted to ask Atlas to let them stay a little longer so she could take in the view.
"It's not the prettiest view, trust me, just wait until you get to see the earth, then you'll understand what it is we fight for," Atlas commented offhandedly. "Alright you might want to grab onto something I'm going to make the jump back to earth soon and the ship might shake a bit when we do."
Louise nodded and heeded his advice grabbing a handle that was protruding from the ceiling. At a good time as well, because as she did Atlas began reorienting the ship to face away from the sun, after flicking a few switches Louise began to hear a low whining noise building in the back of the ship. After a few seconds, Atlas pushed forwards on a protruding stick with a grip that was sticking out of the console and Louise suddenly felt the ship lurch forwards as they were enveloped in a cascade of Lights surrounding them.
Louise looked around the cockpit of the ship in awe, never had she experienced anything like this. It was mesmerizing to put it lightly, the myriad of colours streaking by the ship's exterior was hypnotizing, so much she didn't even realize her jaw hung wide open. When she finally tore her gaze away from the spectacle before her she noticed Atlas eyeing her curiously, she suspected that he was smirking under his helmet, once she caught him staring she closed her mouth and shrunk back into the rear of the ship out of embarrassment.
Once she made her way to the back she sighed as she took her seat on top of one of the cases that apparently held one of Atlas's many rocket launchers. Saito had given Louise a rundown of all the different types of weapons and how they work while they were on Mercury, so at the very least she wouldn't be in trouble if they needed to "borrow" a weapon or two from their enemies. She leaned her back against the wall of the ship unsure of what to do next, she was beginning to debate whether or not she should meditate or ask Saito for a book when Atlas emerged from the cockpit.
"Shouldn't you be flying the ship?" Louise asked a little concerned, in her experience Saito had always driven the train but that only required him to accelerate and decelerate the train. Compared to how he had described flying a ship where you needed to be at the controls at all times to control more than just the speed, but a few dozen other factors as well. Although she suspects Saito may have exaggerated some of the details, she had enough trouble trying to conduct the train herself and held little doubt that flying a ship like this could be any easier.
Atlas merely let out a chuckle at her concern before waving her off. "It's fine, in between jumps I usually just let Gaea monitor the ship, as all that really needs to be done is make sure nothing has caught fire mid-flight."
"Oh, I see then." Louise nodded and was about to sit back down when she realized where she was sitting. "Oh, um, sorry is alright for me to sit here, I can move if you'd like."
"It's fine, really, make yourself comfortable, we still have about two hours before we arrive." Atlas waved off her concern. As he found a seat for himself he removed his helmet giving Louise her first look at his face. Louise didn't recognize any of his features but she thought he did at least look handsome. Atlas's face was Asian in ethnicity with steely coloured eyes and a sharp clean-shaven Jaw with long black hair tied into a bun behind his head.
"Really? That long? Saito made his trip here in less time than that…" Louise mumbled.
"Truly? Do you know what kind of ship he took to make it in such a short time?" Atlas asked in shock.
"It was an Arcadia class jump ship, and the trip took me approximately 2 minutes and 32 seconds," Saito said with pride.
"No wonder your jump drive exploded, you must have been overclocking it well beyond standard safety protocols." Atlas deadpanned.
"No, I read the manual and I made sure to stay well within the safety margin for a standard jump," Saito said in a defending tone.
"Did you take into account the centuries of rust and lack of coolant that may have evaporated during that time?" Altas asked.
"Well, uh... no," Saito admitted. Though he was quick to refute. "In my defense, I was a little preoccupied with getting out of orbit while not getting shot down."
"Uh-huh, very well, nothing anyone can do about it now, so tell me, Louise, where did you find that train I found you two traveling in? I can't imagine it was easy to get a hold of a golden age artifact like that, not to mention how you managed to keep hold of it for any duration of time. Come to think of it, how long have you had that train? I can't imagine you having hold of it for more than a few months..." Atlas inquired he wagered they had probably nabbed the train a few months back, possibly a year at most. Without any air support or visible weaponry on the train, it did not seem very well guarded, although, when he had scanned the planet's surface they didn't even pick up on the train at all. Even if it had been powered down at the time of them scanning it still seemed very unlikely that they could have missed it.
"We broke it out of an old shipyard that was being converted by the Vex around… I think it's been eleven years since then now." Louise held a finger to her chin as she replied. Atlas's Jaw hung open upon hearing the number.
When Louise saw Atlas's expression she had to fight hard not to burst out in laughter at the sight of his shell-shocked shocked expression.
"You managed to keep a train on Mercury behind enemy lines, with no backup and only the weapons you scavenged for eleven years!?" Atlas suddenly yelled in disbelief. Louise was jolted from her seat by the volume of his voice.
"Umm, yes?" Louise responded a little intimidated by his sudden outburst.
Atlas decided to take a seat himself to calm himself. "My apologies for my outburst Guardian, it's just, we've had a lot of trouble securing a foothold on any planet other than earth, for a Guardian to have survived on mercury for so long is... honestly incredible," Atlas said, shaking his head. "Please you have to tell me how you managed for so long."
Louise beamed with pride as she began recounting her tale of her Journey on Mercury.
The story Louise told was almost unbelievable to Atlas, had he not seen the train she was on for himself he may have passed it off as impossible. Despite the many questions he had about her travels he knew their journey would be coming to a close very soon and he would need to limit the questions he wanted to ask if he was going to have time to ask any at all.
"Tell me, were you always simply freight hopping at random or did you have some goal in mind?" Atlas asked, however upon seeing the look on her face he almost immediately regretted it. Her cheerful demeanor had almost immediately evaporated, replaced by a sad gaze directed at the floor. Louise was silent for a minute before she decided to speak again.
"I-, I was looking for whoever might have been with me when I had… well... passed away, the first time," Louise said sadly. "When Saito found my body he told me it was still far from decayed. He put my time of death within a few days of him finding me… I- I really don't know how someone like me ended up so deep in a Vex facility, but I can't imagine I did so alone." Louise paused as if deciding what to say next, eventually she raised her head to meet Atlas's eyes with her own. "But I do have, well, some memories, just brief flashes of my past. None of them really seem to make any sense to me, but I know for certain they belong to me, and then there is this one face, Saito and I think she may be a relative of mine but I don't know for certain, I just know they were important to me, someone I cared about." Louise felt her eyes begin to sting as she recounted her tale, she never understood why that face made her sad, it just… hurt.
Atlas once more found himself speechless, memories, the girl, no, the Guardian before him had memories of her past life. He needed to know more; he was about to ask more when Gaea poked her shell through the cockpit.
"We're here, Atlas, I'm afraid I need you to take control while I get on the comms to clear our Guest with tower security," Gaea said.
Atlas sighed, questions for later then, well they would be arriving shortly he should be sure to send her to meet with the speaker first. He could offer her better advice than he could ever provide. Standing up he made his way to the cockpit, as he passed the threshold however he paused and looked over his shoulder.
"Louise, you might want to come and see this." He said with a smile, if she liked the view of Mercury he was certain she was going to love the view of the earth.
"Sure what is… it…" Once more Louise's face morphed into one of complete shock at the sight before her. Mercury was beautiful mainly because of its proximity to the sun. This time it was Atlas's turn to stifle a chuckle at her reaction, Mercury had been a desolate planet with a very limited colour scheme. It may have appeared beautiful to Louise, but it was clear to anyone that it was far from alive. Earth on the other hand was an enormous blue and green ball of abundant life, it was truly a breathtaking sight.
"Tower approach, this is Iron Lord 7 dash 8 requesting clearance." Gaea broke the silence with her radio chatter.
"Copy that Iron Lord, Uhm, pardon me for asking but didn't you just leave on patrol?" A male voice responded over the radio.
"Affirmative we located a stranded Guardian on the planet just came back to bring them home," Gaea replied.
"Copy that… I'll notify the vanguard." The voice on the radio said, after a brief silence they spoke up again. "Iron Lord 7 dash 8 please proceed to the tower courtyard, the auto-pilot will take over once you transmat in."
"Copy that, making our approach. Iron Lord out" Gaea then turned to the others. "All right, all sorted, we'll help you get settled in the tower don't worry. Although, I should warn you being in our presence might draw some attention to yourself."
"Lord Atlas this is Commander Zaval, can you please confirm the ID of the stranded Guardian, according to Vanguard records you are the only Guardian authorized to have been sent to Patrol on Mercury." The radio suddenly crackled to life again, this time there was a deep resonating voice coming from the other end.
"Affirmative Commander, the Guardian doesn't exist in our records, according to her Ghost, he raised her on Mercury after commandeering an abandoned Jumpship," Atlas spoke into the radio.
"Truly? Hmm, very well, if that's the case then I'd like to speak with both of them when they arrive. Zavala out." Zavala cut the connection as soon as he finished talking.
Louise was a little surprised by how stern the man on the radio had been but Atlas waved off her concern, reassuring her that while he can be very strict, he does mean well. They were beginning their approach now, with their ship slowly beginning to drop below cloud level. As they did the Traveler slowly came into view, Louise had heard countless stories from Saito and she had experienced a few visions herself but seeing its enormous majestic appearance in person was something else entirely. Below it lay the last City on earth, its strong walls barring their foes access to their sacred land of humanity, along with their borders massive cannons were installed to prevent foes from sieging the tower walls. At one point along, there seemed to be a large tower built into the wall.
Atlas caught her gaze and smiled, "Welcome to the last city Guardian, that there," He said pointing to where she was looking, "That's the tower, it's where Guardians typically meet to organize strikes, raids or just meet up to chat, but I suppose for those living in the walls, its a symbol of hope for them, for us, it's a place to call home."
As Atlas made his final approach to the tower he turned to Louise to warn her about the transmat, but when he turned to face her he found himself at a momentary loss for words.
"Uh, Louise, may I ask why you have your helmet on?" Atlas noticed Louise had suddenly re-equipped her helmet while he had his back turned.
Louise avoided looking Atlas in the eyes before she responded, "Well, you know how I look right?" Louise asked timidly. "And, well, considering how you mentioned being in your presence is going to draw a lot of attention, I, um, didn't want to attract even more when people see my face…"
Louise refused to admit it aloud, but she knew how young she looked, and she had a feeling that she was going to stick out like a sore thumb. The last thing she wanted was Atlas suddenly having rumors of him bringing a child playing dress-up into the tower spreading, nor did she want people seeing her as the youngest looking guardian to date.
"Well, I'm sure it won't be that ba-"
Louise held up a hand to stop Atlas. "Atlas, I appreciate the sentiment but, I'm no fool, I know how I look to others, and I know the prerequisites for become a Guardian. Showing my face right now just isn't a good idea." Louise spoke in a hushed tone.
Atlas wanted to say more, but he knew it wasn't his place to do so. Letting out a sigh, he nodded before waving to Gaea to transmat them into the courtyard. As they did he noticed Louise frantically look at her disappearing limbs before her as though she had never… done this before… 'I forgot to mention this part.' Atlas thought to himself 'I pray she doesn't get sick from this.'
Thankfully when they arrived Louise only seemed a little disoriented for a moment before she managed to gather herself once more.
"That… was different from blinking…" Louise commented. "Never thought I'd be glad to be on an empty stomach before."
Atlas merely chuckled lightheartedly, although her comment did raise a question in his mind. "Louise, if you don't mind my asking, when was the last time you ate? I can't imagine Mercury having lots in the way of food."
"Uh, let's see... I think since I was raised…" Louise put a finger to the chin of her helmet, "ah, yep, never"
Atlas nearly choked upon hearing that, not having eaten once!? Certainly, he and the other Iron lords would often go months without food, but they all enjoyed having a meal or two every now and again, as humans, awoken, and even exos still felt the urge to eat every now and again. Even if it was simply to feel satisfied to have a full stomach, but to go fourteen years without food and possibly no water was simply ludicrous! It obviously wasn't impossible for a Guardian but it was still quite the feat.
"Well in that case I'm definitely going to need to take you to some restaurants in the last city," Atlas said, shaking his head. "But first, we should see the speaker about, well, you know. I'll inform Vanguard of your presence, just make your way to the… speaker. Brilliant, I was afraid of this..."
While the two had been chatting, a large crowd of Guardians had begun amassing in the tower courtyard. They had all noticed the towering figure of an Iron Lord accompanied by a very small Guardian, who many could guess based on their robes and their state, was a freshly risen warlock, or at least from their point of view they were recently revived.
Atlas could tell from the crowd that his presence was likely the only reason they hadn't been swarmed yet, but the moment he left Louise's side she would likely be swept away with questions. He'd wager that most questions would involve him seeing as they had all seen the two of them chatting casually. He really didn't want to leave Louise to the wolves but he needed to speak with the vanguard while she spoke with the speaker. Thankfully his saving grace came in the form of a fellow Titan going by the name of Saint-14.
The well known Titan had no trouble making his way over to the duo in the courtyard, the Guardians parting to stay out of his path. Once he made his way over he warmly greeted Atlas with a firm handshake and a firm pat on the shoulder. Meanwhile, Louise had been doing her best job to conceal her presence from the gathering crowd by strategically placing herself behind Atlas's enormous frame. Once Saint was done greeting Atlas he noticed Louise, and for the smallest moment, Atlas could have sworn he felt Saint twitch his hand. He assumed he Guessed how young she looked based on her frame alone, before Saint could talk to Louise Atlas was struck by a sudden inspiration and pulled Saint's shoulder in close so he could whisper directly into Saint's ear.
"I have a small favor to ask." He said in a low whisper, "I need to speak with the Vanguard, but I fear that because of her being in my presence she might have become quite popular amongst the others. Would you mind taking her on a tour of the tower in my absence? I promise I won't be very long."
Saint laughed and patted Atlas on the shoulder "Your fame is nothing to be ashamed Brother, worry not I can handle the Little one." Saint replied, although when he finished he felt a chill run down his metallic spine. Glancing over he noticed the origin of the feeling was the small Guardian before him, unlike Atlas, however, he merely chuckled good-naturedly. "It seems you have quite the spirit Guardian!"
Louise jumped back at the sudden praise, she hadn't been expecting a compliment, she decided to call it even for his comment.
"Ah, before you go, I think it could be best if you took her to the speaker first, I think there are a few things they need to discuss," Atlas said to Saint as he turned to make his way to the war room.
"Very well then!" Saint replied, he then turned to Louise who to her credit did not flinch under his Gaze. "Well then, Atlas has left it up to me to show you around the place, come along then I have a lot to show you."
Louise was feeling very anxious as she felt all the eyes of all the gathered Guardians burning holes in her back as she stood in the tower courtyard. She could tell they all had questions they wanted to ask but none of them wanted to approach her while Saint-14 was with her. She did her best to keep her eyes forward, pressing forwards she squashed her fears under her heel, she would not let them get to her, she would be unbending and unyielding, like, like steel.
She noticed the behemoth of a Guardian looking at her oddly, she'd overheard Atlas call him Saint which she suspected was his name. She was about to ask why he was looking at her when he abruptly broke the silence for her.
"Well, first things first, allow me to formally introduce myself, I am Saint-14 a Titan in service of the Traveller." Saint declared proudly. Louise was a little confused by the number at the end of his name, '14? Does that mean he's the fourteenth Saint? Or was he the Fourteenth sibling in his family?' Louise mused, noticing Saint looking at her she realized she hadn't responded.
"Sorry! I am Louise, a Warlock, and I suppose also in service of the Traveller?" Louise answered hesitantly. Her introduction with Atlas had been far less grandiose, granted at least this time she didn't have an enormous weapon pointed at her face. Saint seemed to flinch at her voice for a moment before nodding at her introduction and waved her along. "A pleasure to meet you, Louise, come along now I have much to show you."
"So, tell me young one, where you raised on Mercury? I do recall Atlas being assigned to patrol there, tell me what possessed your Ghost to fly all that distance to such a dangerous planet?"
"Saito," Louise called, at the mention of his name he pooped out of her head.
"Well, I suppose it was like what you Guardians call a "Gut feeling"," Saito said. "I scavenged a ship from the old cosmodrome and I was lucky it had a jump drive… I wasn't so lucky that said jump drive exploded upon arrival stranding me there."
"Interesting, so how long was it before Lord Atlas found you? I can't imagine staying on that planet for long with how dangerous it is."
"Around fourteen years three months and twenty-seven days," Saito replied analytically.
Upon hearing the number the Titan stopped dead in his tracks, he turned very slowly to face Louise. "You survived fourteen years on mercury by yourself!?" He asked in a disbelieving tone.
The volume of his voice reached the other Guardians in the courtyard who all turned their attention to the Guardian in question. Louise never thought she'd ever wish to be smaller than she already was. Having had enough of all the attention she grabbed Saint by the arm and dragged him along in the direction they were already headed.
"Yes," Louise hissed "Now could you please keep the volume down, I've already got enough attention as it is, I don't need you grabbing me even more."
"Certainly, Guardian, but, only on the promise that you must tell me all about how you managed such a feat!" Saint responded.
"Fine." Louise groaned. "Deal."
"Very good! Ah and good timing as well, here we are." As Saint spoke he spread his arms wide in the direction of the entrance to the Speaker's hall.
Louise didn't see the need for the theatrics but was impressed nonetheless by the room laid out before her. Everything in the room was incredibly ornate and meticulously placed, at the top of a set of stairs that hugged the wall to her left there was a bookshelf and what appeared to be a masked person weaning plain grey robes. Said figure turned to face them shortly after they arrived and began making his way down to greet them.
"Father! It is good to see you, this young Guardian with me was wishing to speak with you." Saint said.
'Father? I suppose he is dressed like a priest.' Louise mused.
"Ah, is that so. Then please allow me to introduce myself, I am known to many as the speaker, as I speak on behalf of the traveller, tell me young one, what is your name?" The speaker spoke in a smooth level voice.
"My name is Louise, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," Louise said with a curtsy. She almost bit her lip hard enough to bleed once she caught herself in the motion. If the two present had anything to say on her actions they didn't mention or show it. "And I was, well, I was hoping to speak with you about something rather important."
The speaker inclined his head, "Oh, and what would this be about?" He was anticipating the typical questions Guardians asked concerning their rebirth.
"It's well, it's about my memory," Lousie spoke up hesitantly.
"Ah, I'm sorry my child, but when the traveler gave you your second life, I'm afraid your past was left behind, and it is forbidden to go searching for it." The speaker spoke in an apologetic tone.
"Well, I know that but, well, the thing is…" Lousie trailed off unsure of how to continue.
"What is it? Did you find some clues to your past?" The speaker inquired.
"Well, yes but…" Lousie paused.
"Then I believe it would be best for you to part ways with those items unless they can aid us in some manner, I believe it would be best for them to be left behind." The speaker continued.
"I think that may be a little difficult for me…" Louise trailed off once more.
"And why would this be?" The speaker's tone was beginning to sound more suspicious.
"Well… it's because those clues to my past are… well, memories in my head of my past life…"
A/N
Alright, second time writing this Authors after I may or may not have accidentally closed the tab without saving, bugger me I suppose...
Anyhow! As promised onto the reviews!
First up Raven! : Glad to see you still reviewing! And yes indeed, fourteen long years of freight hopping have finally paid off and Louise is homeward bound, almost. Not to Halkeginia, at least not yet. Now as for the firebreak order, well I must confess I completely missed them in my research of Mercury. I'll be sure to include them further down the line.
Always a pleasure to read your reviews! Please do stick around for more!
Itharax... Did I say that right? : Haha! You got it! I was having a lot of trouble naming our behemoth of an Iron Lord Titan, and drew some inspiration from greek mythology, glad to see it paid off. Louise hasn't yet made it to the last city but she will very soon!
Thanks for the review! Hope you stick around for more!
Now this message is for both Donut and Spartan517 : Thank you so much the both of you! Seriously, your guy's reviews, even if they are just a few words of encouragement are what keep us authors writing! Keep it up!
Alright, that's it for this week! Stick around for the following week, or if you follow my other story, next Sunday! It's always a pleasure to write for you all and I hope to see you all in the next chapter!
