"I think that's the last of it," Bryce said, carrying the last box in before shutting the door behind him.

Carter placed the new empty box in her hand on the table and ushered Bryce to bring his to the table. "Thanks, dude. This actually went by faster than I initially thought."

Looking around, there was already stuff out of their respective boxes and in general areas of the apartment. On the kitchen counter sat a couple of mugs and plates. There were a couple of posters rolled up near the far wall next to the bedroom door. Some of her collectible figurines and plushes were pushed up against the adjacent wall until she figured out where she would put them.

Looking at the box now in front of her, she saw a couple of thick blankets she vaguely recognized. On top, she found a letter.

I know it gets pretty hot in Florida, but I also know that you love to snuggle with a good book. I figure it would be just like home if you turned the heat down in your apartment. Stay safe and good luck.
Danni

Taking one of the blankets out, she saw one that Danni sewed a couple of years ago, once she got really got at it. The blanket contained many of the different Carebears. She instantly pointed out the grumpy bear. He was always her favorite.

"That's really nice," Bryce said. Carter jumped, forgetting that he was even in the room.

"Thanks. My little sister made it. She's always been really talented. I probably will not be taking this into work, ever, but it'll be here or the weekends."

"Considering how nasty your roommates are, I think that's a good idea. You've only known each other for a week, yet they hate you so much. Usually, it takes time for that type of hatred to fester."

"I wish I knew. I've barely said anything to them, although I think its typical popular girls making fun of the nerd. Yet, the nerd isn't phased by it, so they're getting super upset."

"What did I tell you? High school," Bryce stated.

"I hoped when I graduated, I would never step into another one," Carter practically whined.

"It's what happens when you put a whole bunch of people together and have different classifications. Hierarchies form, and it doesn't even matter if they have any real power. You don't see Nadia or Agent Hill doing that kind of thing, even though their security clearance is really high compared to the majority of people."

"How high is Nadia's security clearance?" Carter asked.

"She has one of the top security clearances if not the highest. Usually, only team leads or department heads get to have the kind of access. I'm kinda scared to actually ask what she does. I just see the end result of her work."

"That wouldn't be like level five, would it?"

"Kind of, now that I think about it."

"It makes me wonder why I'm going through all of the records from the floor. I'm a level one, yet I'm going through old files that are hardly redacted."

"My guess is that it's so old, they're not even relevant anymore, or they're hoping you go through things without really thinking about it. Lawson is a weird person."

Carter shrugged her shoulders, thinking his words over. It was true that she had been working pretty diligently on copying all of the paperwork into flash drives. She could hardly have the time to look over what she had typed with Lawson standing over her shoulder, making sure she didn't spend too much time looking at certain documents. On top of that, recent things would appear, such as a computer or two breaking down every day or files needing to get to specific people within a certain time frame. It was exhausting multi-tasking like that. She knows she knocked the whole partner thing, but it really seemed to be coming in handy. Whenever Vryce had a moment between his assignment, he would help out in any way he could.

"We'll now that we're pretty much done," Carter said, pulling the last couple of blankets out of the box and laying them on the couch nearby, "I'm starving. How do you feel about pizza?"

"I could definitely eat."

Carter pulled out her laptop from one of her bags that she left by the door and booted it up. Opening up a tab, she searched for the site of the pizza place she saw just down the road from them. She opened her mouth to ask Bryce what topping he would like when a ringing came from her computer. Looking back at the screen, she saw that Skype had been pushed to the forefront of the screen. In the middle of the window was a photo of her sisters together. Accepting the call, Danni's bright face took up the entire screen.

"Carter!" she yelled. "You finally came online."

"Were you sitting at the computer this entire time waiting for me to come online?"

"Yes."

From the background, Carter heard, "I told her you would call when you were completely done, but she didn't listen to me." Nina walked by the screen, waving as she did so.

"Did you get the blankets I sent you?" Danni asked.

"I did. In fact, I just opened it up. Why did you give them to me? They're your favorite."

"To remember me by."

"How could I not remember you, little one."

"I don't know. It's all the emotion rolling around the house since you announced that you were moving away. I know it's not logical, but I can't help it."

Carter thought about it and realized that her sister being a sensitive empath, would feel everyone else's sadness, and her own would grow tenfold. When there was a feeling of enormous emotion, Danni didn't think clearly. "But, you're doing better now?"

"A little bit. Mom is still a bit sad you left. She likes for all of her children to be close by. Dad's been trying to not show me that he's said, but there are times that he can't. I know that you left because you got a really good job. Dad feels really proud whenever he says it. You no longer have to do all of those freelance jobs that you hated."

"Yeah, you're right, little one. I hated it so much."

"But you like this job a whole lot better, right?"

"I do. I met a couple of good people. The company is fairly large, so I haven't met everyone yet, and I doubt I ever will. The people I'm closely working with are really nice and are teaching me the ropes. I'm hoping that next week, I really get the routine down."

"Good. That's really all I wanted to ask you, for now."

"For now?"

"Yes, for now. As the youngest sibling, it is my right and responsibility to be unbelievably nosy. I also must ask you embarrassing questions, such as, but not limited to, your social life and romantic endeavors. I figure that I would give you a weekend off to ask you about such things. But next week, be prepared."

From off-screen, Nina's voice was again heard. "Are you done harassing Carter now?"

Danni looked over her shoulder. "No, but I'm limiting myself today." Turning back to the screen, she said: "you have been warned."

As she finished saying that, the screen when dark for a second before the symbol noting the call over appeared. Looking back at Bryce, she said, "Sorry about that. My sister's pretty weird."

"No, it's fine," Bryce said. "I was trying to understand what she meant by the whole feelings thing."

Carter, coming up with something off the top of her head, replied. "You know how there are some people who are really perceptive of emotions and the like. My sister's a bit like that. She gets feelings."

"I getcha," Bryce said. "She has a really high EQ."

"Exactly," Carter said, feeling a knot in her stomach unravel. "Now, what do you want on your pizza."

As Carter finished up with the order, she hoped that she would one day tell the person who was quickly becoming one of her best friends the truth about herself. She just wasn't ready.
