Chapter 12
She had to craft some more mage position since she slipped her last one into Blue's pouch. She did not have very much herb and bitter bugs to make a lot of normal position and very little honey to make more mage position since she was only able to make three. She knows she has to harvest some more when she gets into the field again. As she packed her few mage positions and normal positions she walked out of the trailer to head to the gets board. "Are there any quests for a Kecha Wacha?" She asked as she saw the Guildmeam was putting up a new quest upon the board.
"A Kecha Wacha, yea there is rate here." Pulling down the quest and handing the paper to her. "You may have to be careful there is a Brute Wyvern called an Ajanath on the hunting ground and not much is known about it." She warned Saachi as she read the info on the quest.
Saachi handed back the paper replying "I will, thank you for the warning as well." Guildmeam waved goodbye as she walked to the Street Cook to order one of his specials just to stuff her face when he slid it in front of her.
As she pulled herself up from her table she walked over to pay for the wonderful meal. " Thanks for coming, see you again Kinder Hunter." He said to give a purr. She makes her way to the smith, strapping her shield back on to see The Man was almost done with her armour set. He looked up from the last part of the armour set to see Saachi walking up and without saying anything he placed the armour up on the counter as she got there.
"Thank you for making the armour for me. Here is the zenny I own you." Putting the sack of zenny on the counter as she picked up the armour to put it on in the sleeping wagon. She was in there about an hour putting on the armour until she walked out in her new Great Jaggi outfit, the helmet was from the last armour set she was wearing when she joined the caravan. She was all ready to head out to the Ancestral Steppes to hunt the Kecha Wacha for the merchant.
As she arrived at the Ancestral Steppes she grabbed the map from the chest as she was on her way out to the area where the vine canapes were with the ruins mixed in. As she stepped out from the campsite she happened to see some honey dripping from a beehive that was hanging from a tree and a few small plants that she was hoping it had herb and maybe a bitter bug. She quickly harvests them up and gets six honey, five herbs and two bitter bugs slipping them into her pouch.
She made her way to the area she thinks the Kecha Wacha would be walking through the shallow stream with the sun cutting in and out from the vines as she looked around trying to spot the monster. As she walked a little farther some leaves fell from the vines right in front of her with the sound of something heavy running up on the vines since she could not see it, it swung down and cross the vines which she just misses until it nearly swung rate into her making her take a few steps back to make sure she was not hit from the swinging monster. She came face to face with the Kecha Wacha as it hung upside down with its red fur around its light gray face with its light green eyes with red irises that were looking straight into her ice-blue eyes with a smile on its face as it covered its face with its large ears. On the back of the ears had orange-yellow circles with a ring of white around with small blue dots longing the inner side with white fur that pointed at the ends that looked like fangs. It uncovers its face, recovers to uncover again but this time shooting some water out of its small truck or she hopes it was water as it sends her to the ground. She quickly pulled herself up to her feet keeping her eyes on the Kecha Wacha and it changed from hanging its tail to hanging to its right arm roaring out.
Saachi draws her sword as the Kecha Wacha can swing in trying to claw at her with its long claws, as she swung her sword it jumped back just to leap into the air latching onto the vines to swing up through the canopy to the top. She looked around and headed for the vines that were hanging down sheathing her Great Jaggi sword into place and started to climb up it just to get hit in the back with water making her fall to the ground landing on her sword. She pulled herself just nearly getting hit by the swinging Kecha Wacha, she had seen it swung up onto the canopy again. She quickly climbed up the vines before it could shoot some water out of its trunk pulling herself up to see an old neat behind it. "I can use the old nest to mount it if I don't get it to fall through the canopy first." She said before she quickly ran to the Kecha Wacha unsheathing her sword to slice the side as she turns to climb up on the old nest she had seen its lower half fell through the canopy as it was trying to get a good grip with its long claws to pull itself out.
She still climbs the old nest lunging over the Kecha Wacha slicing up its back that had the red-brown fur that ran down its back over its spin that was over a yellow-orange fur that covers its body. She cut up its neck along the top of its head making it fall from the canopy with a loud thud as it smashes the ground where Sandstorm was waiting with his lance at the ready. Before he could hit it, it pulled itself up just to feel the hunter land on it's back, it stood on its hind legs trying to get her off its back as it clawed at her a little just to have it drag its shoulder on the ground with no luck of getting her off. As she got the trust hunting knife out to stab it in the back trying to get it to topple over so she can get a couple of good slashes in it. As she had her hand up to stab it once more she could feel it getting ready to thresh again so she quickly held on as it clawed at her again to get her off but this time she was trough from it as it rammed its side into the old pillar that held up the vine canopy, she was sent crashing to the ground as it claps to the ground. It was snaking its hand to the ground from the pain as it had rammed into the pillar. She rushed in slicing the side of its arm among the side of its body.
It pulled itself up for itself up it was about to let out a roar but it and Saachi both heard a roar to make the Kecha Wacha flee by showing off its membrane between its arms and legs. There were some even between its legs to its tail as it jumped high in the air climbing through the hole it fell through gliding into the air. Sandstorm looked up to Saachi with his head tilted to the side. "It might be the brute wyvern the guildmarm warned us about, nya." He said placing his lance onto his back. They were about to leave the area when Sandstorm grabbed the bottom of the vail that was hanging around her waist stopping her from walking away, " meowter look it is another palico." He pointed with his paw seeing it had a gray tabby with black stripes running down the parts that were showing its muzzle, underbelly and paws being white. This palico had a sword on it's back as it ran from the bushes with a female bow hunted rate behind it.
When Saachi saw the female hunter, she hid behind the pillar so she was keeping an eye on her as she kept looking behind her as she ran. Her long wavy black hair had some braids going the side of her head with some blue bands through some parts of the brads. She could not see her face since the hunter was wearing a black mask over her face with two blue markings on the side where the cheeks were will another one was on the side where the mouth would be. It had a blue four-point diamond on the front of the forehead with a marking going on the outside of the diamond that was above a marking just above the eyes that followed the shape of the point on top beside the eyes of the helmet. She had a blue dress that stopped short of her upper legs with a black belt holding up a black skirt with the front opened over top of the blue dress. Black leggings cover her legs the covered some of the footwear that had a metal armour plate covering the top of black shoes. She had a shul-like over her shoulders that stopped just above her elbows that were attached in the front of chest just below her collarbone with shoulder armour was over the shoulders and down her arm a little. Saachi could else notice she had black fingerless gloves on as well that stopped below her elbow with an armour plate running on the outside of her forearms and small armour guards on the back of her hands. She had an iron bow on her upper back with her quill of arrows on the back of her hips.
As she turned around she drew her bow to the way she ran from as a large salmon-pink t-rex with a dark gray fur almost looking like it is black and tail can charging out of the bushes. It used a bumpy area that was over its nose, ramming into the bow hunter as she shot an arrow off. Painting her down under its foot as her palico jumped up to attack the Ajanath just to get smoked from its tail, landing on the ground. "Sandstorm lets go," Saachi told the old palico, with that Sandstorm ran on his four paws heading for the monster's head jumping on to its face covering one of its eyes giving Saachi enough time to climb up the vines and ran along the top of the canopy as the Ajanath was trying to get the old palico off not letting go of the pined hunter.
Saachi had seen a hole just above the Ajanath that she could land on its back knowing Sandstorm was going to get through anytime. She jumped down landing on its back just to grab onto some fur before she fell off and pulled herself up onto its back before she started to stab it in the back getting it off the bowhunter. "Night are you alright, nya?" The gray palico asked running up to the hunter that was dusting herself off. Night nods her head to see Saachi stabbing the Ajanath in the back trying to get it to tuple it over but it threw her off flying straight to them making her hit the ground just in front of them.
Sandstorm came next to them to stop Saachi in her tracks, she quickly pulled herself up standing next to Night and her palico. Saachi looked to Night to ask "are you alright?" With her shield and sword ready.
Night nodded her head with a 'hmm' sound coming from behind the mask that she wears as her palico jumps up in front of Night replying "we are more than alright thanks to you. We could have been eaten or worse." The Ajanath had seen them standing so it fired a fireball off at them.
"I am glad to hear you're doing alright," Saachi said with a smile on her face just to see the fireball heading to them. She did not even think she just quickly jumped in between them and the fireball as it clashed against her shield, burning her legs a little as she dropped down onto her one knee feeling the pain in her legs.
Sandstorm let out a hiss at the Ajanath as he yelled at the monster. " why you!" Charging in on his four paws to lep to bring his lance off of his back ramming its head with it knocking its head which stopped it from making the second fireball. As Sandstorm landed on the ground he dug underground and popped next to Saachi looking up at her as to say "are you alright purrtan?"
She had not even noticed that Night jumped to the side preparing her next shot as she ran shooting it off at the Ajanath. She got its attraction as she ran around it firing off another arrow. Her palico walked up to Saachi with worry in his amber eyes. "Salim get another trap ready!" She yelled as she fired two arrows off hitting the Ajanath's scaly hide.
Her palico looked over to her to reply "Night, the miss could be hurt." looking back to Saachi as he was digging out a position for her to take.
As he was getting the position out he could hear her yell back to him. "She is a hunter, she can handle it! Get the trap started already since I have it attached!" Getting another arrow ready into her iron bow firing off the arrow nailing it in the head making it flinch.
"R-right," he said looking back to Saachi apologizing "I am very sorry about her behaviour, are you alright? I got a position here if you need one." Salim handed the position to Saachi but she declined it by putting her hand on it and lightly pushing it back to palico.
As she pulled herself up to her feet again petting the gray palico on the head. " I'm alright, your hunter may need that position more than I do." Saachi watched Night and she was nearly getting hit from the Ajanath's tail swings and head rams. She knew she had to get in there and get it attached off of her so she can have a good shot or two in." Sandstorm help Salim get the trap ready." She told the old light brown Palico before running in to slash into its one leg but it was still focusing on the bow hunter as it was building another fireball in its mouth. She resliced into its thick legs this time tripping and falling to the ground. It did not stay on the ground for long; it pulled itself up turning its attention to Saachi with its winglike membranes coming shooting up from the sides of its back. The Ajanath lounge at Saachi as she just barely misses its massive jaws with fire coming out of its sides.
As she had seen it swing its massive tail clashing into her shield sent her sliding back a little, just to block as it came in for a bit. She could feel the heat rushing out of its jaws as it locked it on her shield just as Night's Palico called out "Night, it's ready! Miss, please stay clear when it is in the Trap." Saachi nodded her head not letting her focus off on the Ajanath as it was trying to rip her arm off, Night fired two more arrows off but it was still fighting Saachi paying no mind to her arrows.
She fires a grappling hook onto the Ajanath's back just to fly up to its head when she has secured herself onto the side of the monster's massive head to take out one of her arrows to stab it straight into its eye. As the monster let out a painful roar she jumped off landing safely. The Ajanath was very mad as it turned its forces to Night as she was getting ready to run. "Alright hunter, I'll take it from here." Before Saachi could say anything Night took off to the trap with the Ajanath giving chase as she got to the trap she leapt over it. Night contained to run as the Ajanath stepped on the electric trap as high voltage went out through its body over and over again.
It let out another painful roar as cue Salim and Sandstorm were about to trough some special booms to make the monster weaker the trap died down letting an even more mad Ajanath resume its chase. "Oh no! It did not have enough electrical charge to stun it."
Night was still running as fast as she could but the monster was gaining on her little by little, on top of that she was starting to run out of breath." I need to get some distance from it, I have to use my grappling hook." With that, she turns around immediately firing her grappling hook to try to get a good grip on the monster's back so she could run across the back and jump off. However, the Ajanath had seen it coming and moved a little to dodge it so it could hit the rock wall behind it.
Before Night could repel herself the monster bite onto the grappling line with it's now cooled mouth and started to thrash its head. She was then lifted into the air just to hear the grappling line snapped sending her to plummet to the ground where the Ajanath was waiting with its jaws open wide to devour her. "Night!" Salim yelled as he could only watch in horror as she was falling into the waiting jaws of the monster.
