Ceres stormed down the hallways of Olympus. She could not BELIEVE Jupiter! He had helped Pluto kidnap her daughter! And then he refused to confess, and refused to fix it! She found Mercury, lounging in a window sill. He didn't look in her direction, but seemed to be expecting her.
"Let me guess. You want me to go to Pluto and tell him you want your daughter back."
"How in the world did you guess?"
"I'm the messenger of the gods. And the only one who can go to the Underworld without an invitation. And Proserpine is in the Underworld, being held by a god. Two and two make four."
"Well, you guessed right. I trust you heard what I told Jupiter?"
"What, your threat, or your insults?"
"The threat numbskull."
"Right, but wouldn't that just make him more powerful?"
"I don't care! I want my daughter back! Besides, he would be flooded with so many spirits that he would have no chance."
"Heres one thing you never considered: what if all the people on earth die, and Proserpine is still in the Underworld?"
"I'll gather up the other gods and get my daughter back myself! But first, I'll gather all the demons I can, and send them after Pluto."
"And if he thwarts that? Besides, how would you control them?"
"I'll gather all the nature spirits and attack him!"
"And if they fail? And you didn't answer the second question."
"I'll attack with the gods stupid! And I'm a goddess, they would be forced to listen to me."
"And if that didn't work? Besides, it's against the ancient laws"
"I don't care! If it didn't work I would send so many curses to him his descendants in ten eons will be cursed!"
"Right. And what if Proserpine doesn't want to leave?"
"That's crazy talk! Why WOULDN'T she want to leave?"
