A/N: I don't own Fablehaven. Enjoy.
Kendra was so happy to be back home at Fablehaven. She felt really dizzy though. It was probably jet lag or change in altitude. She took tylenol and forgot about it. She and the others were treated to a nice dinner made by Grandma Sorenson. She then excused herself to her room to sleep.
When she layed down to sleep she was greeted by a nightmare. Or so she thought.
Tryne was there yelling at her. Telling her she had lied. He wanted the truth. She cried and said it was the truth.
"I don't think so little girl. Who is the fifth child. Where is she?"
"I don't know." She cried. "Please don't hurt me."
Kendra… up!
Kendra heard a faint voice not really sure what it said.
Kendra wake…
She heard it again. Tryne was louder though.
"Tell me where she is." He demanded.
"She died let me go." Kendra cried.
KENDRA WAKE UP!
Kendra jolted awake. Bracken was standing over her. Warren and Seth were near by too. Kendra burst into tears. Bracken just hugged her and let her cry.
"Bracken he won't leave me alone," She sobbed into his chest.
"I'm sorry princess. He is determined. If it will make him go away I'll tell him who I am." Bracken offered.
"NO!" Kendra yelled. "Don't give yourself to him. I will take this pain if it means you are safe." Kendra said.
Warren walked farther into the room. He sat by Kendra and Bracken. "Hey kiddo. You didn't hear what we heard. You were asleep for a half an hour tops. We were sitting talking when a bloodcurdling scream peirced the entire preserve. You were only asleep and you felt so much pain. Imagine what he would do to you if his connection to you was stronger." Warren sounded incredibly worried and sad when he said this.
"I can fight back. He just caught me off guard." Kendra told them. "Now that I know he can do that I'll be prepared." Kendra told them knowing full well that it was a lie.
"Alright but do you mind if I sit here until you fall asleep." Bracken asked.
"Not at all." Kendra replied. She was already half asleep anyway.
When she finally was asleep Bracken put a protection over her mind so Tryne wouldn't attack her again tonight. Bracken walked downstairs to where everyone was sitting discussing her nightmare.
"Bracken what is happening to my grandaughter?" Stan asked.
"Tryne is slowly taking control over her mind. Kendra could fight him off in theory but, that isn't his goal. All he needs is the connection to grow stronger. Soon she won't be Kendra anymore. Her body will exist but she won't be there anymore. Tryne will have a puppet of pure light and darkness." Bracken told them all.
"Can we fight him?" Vanessa asked clearly concerned about about Kendra.
"Unfortunetly no." Bracken said. "Whatever we do will only speed up the process. Kendra will have to do this mostly alone."
"What do you mean by mostly?" Warren asked.
"If we wake her up whenever this happens his hold won't grow as strong that night." Bracken explained. "But that means someone will have to guard her every night just in case."
"We'll set up a rotation so someone is always there." Stan said. "Bracken will she be okay tonight?"
"She should be I put a protection on her. I'll watch though just in case." Bracken told them.
"Alright everyone else go to sleep we'll discuss rotations tomorrow. Talk to me if you want to be put in the rotation." Stan told them.
Bracken, Seth and Warren walked upstairs. Seth went cause it's his room, and Warren went because he needed to check up on Kendra.
"Hey Bracken, is there anyway we can save her?" Warren asked.
Bracken grabbed her hand. "Unless we destroy Tryne no."
Warren looked so beat up over this. "We just saved her we can't lose her again."
"I know. I want to keep her away from all of this. I want her to be safe and happy."
"Well lets do that. I know he is your uncle but, she needs to be safe. Can we go on a mission to kill Tryne?" Warren asked.
"I don't even know where to start looking." Bracken said. "But yes, if we find him I will destroy him. For Kendra."
They both sat by Kendra's bed watching her peaceful face. If only they knew that it was already to late.
Kendra sat alone in a dark room. "Bracken," She said. "Are you there?"
"No one will save you here." Tryne said. "You are mine."
Kendra was swallowed into the deep abyss of the room. Screaming as she went. "Bracken save me." She cried before she was gone.
Tryne turned to the other entity in the room. "While she is here no one can stop us. You will posses this child and lead them to me. You must act as though I'm still trying to take hold of this girl."
"I won't let you down." She promised.
"I know you won't. My daughter."
