If there was anything GyeoUl was proud of, it was her ability to study. She could study anything, literally anything and she didn't just study, she studied like her life depended on it. Because she didn't study to have fun but her knowledge could determine a man's fate of life or death.

So that's what she did, from the moment JeongWon asked her to attend the PED conference for Gastroschisis patients. She studied everything she could about the case, his previous papers on the subject, even going as far as borrowing notes from Dr. Myung to study. And it was tomorrow.

The very morning though, the GS Department was hosting the Medical Interns, Im ChangMin and Seong Yeong.

"Hello, I'm Im ChangMin!" The boy said, bowing low at GyeoUl, who bowed back at him and looked at the other Intern who introduced himself as Seong Yeong.

"Did you have breakfast?" GyeoUl asked, to which the boys shook their heads. "Here," She gave them her card, "Have a sturdy breakfast… You never know when you might eat next." The boys balked at her, eyes wide wondering what she meant. GyeoUl kept her face stoic, despite wanting to frown.

"It gets extremely busy around here," She informed them, "We have 13 extremely busy Professors in GS; if you want to make full use of this opportunity, just eat a large breakfast and work hard."

The boys looked worried, but bowed with a promise of working hard and left.

GyeoUl yawned, sitting back in her chair. She stretched, rubbing her eyes. She has been at this since early morning, trying to learn everything about Gastroschisis. She knew all there is to it of course, but she has to know everything. She needed to make sure she didn't mess up when he asked her anything, also maybe the Interns would see and learn that they needed to work hard to become a good doctor.

She got herself a bowl of instant ramyeon and got back to studying. She had looked up all of JeongWon's papers and works regarding such cases and she had to be honest, his works were very insightful, not only in terms of technicalities but also in terms of understanding patient's emotions and feelings which was very odd to be in a medical paper, but it felt necessary, especially for someone like her.

She really didn't know if this was her crush on him speaking or the mentee in her. But it felt nice, like she was knowing him better. The conference was tomorrow, which JeongWon hadn't told her. She had to ask MinHa for further details, who seemed suspicious in the beginning but soon, when GyeoUl elaborated that JeongWon was mentoring her for a few weeks, dismissed the thought.

"A large cup of iced Latté, please," GyeoUl told the lady behind the counter, turning to the Seong Yeong who had accompanied her to the Caféteria. "What do you want?"

"I'll have some tomato juice, Thank you," he gave a smile, bowing.

"Who is this?" MinHa had come, smiling. Didn't she have a lunch date?

"A surgical Intern." MinHa smiled and greeted him, "I see, Hello."

"One tomato juice too," GyeoUl said, "Say Hello," she said to Yeong, "She's a second-year, OB-Gyn Resident, Dr. Chu MinHa." The boy greeted her.

"Is he the only intern?" She asked GyeoUl, "Are you the only surgical intern?"

"There's another one," GyeoUl answered, telling her about the breast cancer conference, which was being attended by the other Intern. "I thought you had a lunch date,"

"Gosh, it wasn't a date," MinHa looked bummed out, "He wanted me to buy him lunch, so I just bought him a meal."

"He's eight years younger than her," GyeoUl sounded impressed, "She's got games," How the woman managed to balance her work and love life was beyond GyeoUl. How men flocked to MinHa was something she should learn. She didn't want everyone obviously, but JeongWon running to her would do. Why does everything end with JeongWon for her?

"Seven years," MinHa corrected her, looking bashful. "Do you want to chat for a bit?"

"I have to go," GyeoUl frowned. She had to go study more, the conference would start soon. MinHa was disappointed, but wasn't going to comment, as had made an appearance.

"Buy me a cup of coffee too," He told MinHa, "I'd like an iced Latté with lots of ice." He told her.

"You two are like besties," GyeoUl said, noting the familiarity between the two.

"I've been bothering him these days.." MinHa said, moving to pay for her drinks, "I really can't figure out what kind of person Professor Yang Seok Hyeong is. I'm getting a crash course from him." GyeoUl looked interested. Would he know about Ahn JeongWon too then?

"When it comes to those five members of the comedy club, I can describe them in an omniscient viewpoint as their colleague." Dr. Bong said in a tone of self-advertising, "Everything. Their dating history, families and what they are really like. All it takes is a cup of coffee." He finished.

The buzzer signalled her order was ready, but GyeoUl was already too invested in what was saying. Everything, he said. It's always better to have many sources of information, concluded GyeoUl and joined MinHa and Dr. Bong to get a crash course on her Professors. This way began the Bong Salon.

"Let me characterize those five doctors in one go," said . "Listen up."

"To sum it up, they should be called Lacking Five. I would call them that," nodded Dr. Bong.

"I thought you had to go," MinHa said to GyeoUl, finding her interest in the chat very odd, and maybe, a little offended that she wouldn't have sat down to chat with her if hadn't come.

GyeoUl shook her head, "What does that mean?" She turned to Dr. Bong, "So, everyone lacks something?" What would Ahn JeongWon lack?

"That's right," nodded, like he was in a class and his favorite student had asked the right questions, "Everyone lacks something."

"Let's begin with Chae SongHwa," He started.

"The only female," MinHa supplies, to which nodded, "The only female and their emotional pillar… In a nutshell, she doesn't have any weakness," MinHa was impressed, "She's good at her job and helps others too. When I'll have some extra time, I'll write her biography," GyeoUl would read her biography. She sounds like the perfect person.

"I've heard about her," She added, remembering all the time she's heard good things about her.

"She's better than what you've heard. SongHwa is a perfect nerd, but she likes having fun too. She likes having meals with her colleagues and can drink too. And sometimes, she acts all crazy." He gave a reminiscing smile, "But she's pure-hearted."

"Is that possible at her age?"

GyeoUl was impressed too, but she desperately hoped the lady had a flaw. If Ahn JeongWon only knows flawless women, will he ever like her?

"What's wrong with our age?" asked her pointedly, but let go when he noticed her sulking. Then he began again with Kim JumWan. He sounded a bit like her, people thought she was an arrogant jerk when she started her Residency here. If JeongWon could be best friends with him, there was a chance he'd like her.

"Dr. Jang, you are drooling right now," MinHa teased, wiping the corner of her lips. GyeoUl gave her a deadpan look, but teased her right back. She rubbed the OB-GYN Resident's cheeks.

"Dr. Chu, aren't your cheeks too red?" MinHa gasped, rubbing her cheeks.

"Is it too much?" She asked.

"Yes," GyeoUl nodded, face as stoic as ever.

"I applied it because I wanted to look three to four years younger!" Said MinHa, looking betrayed at GyeoUl.

"You look as young as a 34 year old." GyeoUl teased again. MinHa pouted at her friend's taunt, but turned to ask about her Professor.

"What about Yang Seok Hyeong?"

He wasn't social, even GyeoUl knew that.

"Who did I miss?" Dr. Bong asked, having lost track of how many people he had talked about.

"Professor Lee IkJun," MinHa reminded.

"... and Dr. Ahn JeongWon," said GyeoUl as casually as possible.

"Now Lee IkJun, that prick," Dr. Bong started and GyeoUl sulked visibly. She was disappointed, could've started with Ahn JeongWon. But she still listened, he was a friend and her main source of information about Ahn JeongWon.

"He was at the top of his class when he entered Med school and graduated at the top too." said. "IkJun had the highest marks in the board exam too."

"Shouldn't he have been the biggest clown instead?" MinHa wondered out aloud.

"That's what I heard too." GyeoUl said. IkJun himself had told her, so she really hadn't taken him seriously. Maybe, he was telling her the truth.

"I'm not sure if he's just that smart or he studied in secret. Anyway, a practicum or an exam, it didn't matter, he always got the highest grades." He continued, "But, do you know what this punk didn't have?"

"Modesty?" MinHa was quick to deliver the answer. GyeoUl felt like that was what he lacked too.

"Sure," Dr. Bong agreed, "He's not modest either. Perhaps, because he has it all, but he doesn't have any inferiority complex and prejudice."

"He's not twisted at heart." GyeoUl agreed on that one. She has never seen him do anything immoral or bad. He was a great person overall, even though some modesty probably would do him good.

"Right," gave a nod, "So, Ahn JeongWon is the last one."

"Yes," the answer came out of GyeoUl faster and more keen than normal. Her excited face was enough to raise suspicions in her colleagues, but they decided to let it go and would prod it more when they had enough evidence to support their suspicions.

"JeongWon doesn't have…." Dr. Bong said, "...any desire for material possessions."

"Obviously," MinHa agreed, "His family is super-rich. Even I wouldn't be materialistic."

He was raised like that, GyeoUl thought. His family had always been charitable and really didn't have much material possessions, even though they were chaebols. The similarities between him and his father really made him more endearing to her. In some weird way, he reminded her of Ahn Samchun; a doctor, a charitable person, a child-lover, a chaebol, youngest of the siblings, only son in the secular world. He was just the perfect candidate to inherit YulJe.

Then, her unnecessary curiosity surfaced.

"By the way.." GyeoUl started trying to sound as casual as she possibly could, enquiring about her crush, "Did Professor Ahn JeongWon date anyone when he was a Med Student?"

"JeongWon?" was surprised that this question came from GyeoUl. He wouldn't have pegged her to ask such questions about her Professor. "Well.. By the way, you guys seem to have a lot of time.." He noted, while looking at two of the most busy Residents on YulJe, one of whom had to report to 13 Professors. "When I was your age…" He began, but GyeoUl had just seen the time and realized that it was almost two. She got up and ran leaving behind her coffee and a clueless Intern who followed her soon enough.

JeongWon at the ER after having checked upon a six year old girl whose mother insisted that he checked upon her. He overheard Nurse Soobin, Nurse Huisu and a man talking, something about Jang GyeoUl.

Even though every single cell in him told him not to join the conversation, he still did.

"Professor Ahn," Nurse Huisu greeted him, and he greeted them back. "This is . He wants to meet ."

He turned to the man, recognition flashing over him. It was the homeless man. He looked so much better now. He looked lively, clean and a lot healthier.

"Doctor, I don't have ill intentions. I just want to thank the kind doctor. That's all." He said, his tone pleading.

"I'm sorry but.." Nurse Huisu was about to refuse again, when JeongWon stopped her.

"But, why do you want to meet her? Do you have any complaints? Are-"

"No, no, Doctor." He flailed his arms in denial, "I just want to thank her. She's been so kind to me. I'll never be able to repay her, the least I could do is thank her."

At JeongWon's questioning gaze, he elaborated.

"She contacted an organization that provides work and accommodation for homeless people like me… she must've informed them of my leg too. The organization found me a job where I can stay seated and do my job. It pays me well… They've let me stay in their rooms. I received my first pay today too. I'm moving to my own place now. She even paid my bills." He was tearing up. "I just want to say thank you. Please." He begged JeongWon.

"Mr. Ji, she's busy…" Nurse Huisu tried, knowing that GyeoUl hated it when people thanked her for her charity. She felt better being appreciated for her skills. Huisu made sure it stayed that way.

"We'll let her know that you were here and that you are thankful.." Nurse SooBin tried. "But she's off-duty now and very busy with Interns. She's already working overtime-"

"Then, can you give these from me to her?" He handed a bag of choco pies to her. "Please, consider this my greatest request, please I beg of you."

"No-" the nurses tried to refuse, but the man continued.

"I know you can't accept gifts, but please. This is the only way I could try to repay her."

"We'll take it," JeongWon said, after being quiet for the whole time. "We'll give these to Dr. Jang."

The nurses looked shocked but it was the Late Chairman's son saying that so maybe it wouldn't cause trouble.

"Thank you! Thank you so much!" The man bowed profusely and left.

"Is really busy?" He asked, "She's attending the PED Conference later, she must be free right now."

"Ah, Professor, I don't think she is. She doesn't like meeting people who come here to thank her. She-"

"People?"

"Yes, Professor." Nurse Huisu nodded, "This isn't the first time someone she helped is back to thank her. We usually try to send them away without much trouble, but was adamant."

"He would be, did you see him?" Nurse SooBin asked with a tone of pride, "He looks like a new person all together. She really did great finding him a job."

"She paid his bills too?" JeongWon asked again, "Don't we have a social services department for helping?"

"There is, Professor. But there are cases where the department can't pay for everything or cases where the requirements aren't fulfilled… Usually, just pays it all." Huisu said, trying to figure out if JeongWon was angry or just baffled.

JeongWon nodded, handing the bag of treats to Nurse Huisu. "Please, give it to and let her know about Mr. Ji."

"Cacao cakes!" Nurse SooBin smiled, "These are her favorite! He must've seen her eat these often!"

Before more talk could happen, the nurses were called for something.

JeongWon too, left the ER, lost in thoughts. Why hadn't he ever thought of that? Why had he never thought of what happened to patients after they left the hospital? He had only ever paid people's bills, never did much to help them lead a healthy life. Helping people beyond medical bills never occurred to him. But, Jang GyeoUl thought of that? She went ahead and found the man a job, a will to live. Jang GyeoUl was different, so different from him yet, she felt so familiar to him. Even he didn't like being recognized for his charities, one of the reasons he does so behind the mask of Daddy Long Legs. She felt familiar. For once, JeongWon somewhat understood Jang GyeoUl. While he worried about the patient when at the hospital, she thought of them once they left the hospital. Maybe, he should be more open to knowing her. Wonder what else she has that he could learn from.
