A/N: I know this ending is rushed, but I simply can't continue this and wanted to give them their happily ever after.
New initiates came in and all the staff were rotated for classes. Like Liam and I had thought, the majority of Dauntless became mindless drones till a main control tower was cut and war broke out between the factions. Liam and I joined forces, fighting together with his father Marion, Eustace and Abby.
We heard stories of three others as well from Dauntless: Four, Tris and Christina. Jeanine, the leader of Erutide and she hunted them moreso than our group. Eventually Jeanine was killed by Tori Wu Dauntless' tattoo artist when the Eridute compound was attacked by the Factionless who wished to stop her from continuing her hunt on Divergent.
We found out there was a city beyond the boundaries of our known existence where those who thought they knew better had been controlling us for generations. Tris and Four broke down their barriers and Tris nearly gave up her life to debilitate them completely. Four revealed his real name to be Tobias Eaton and he and Tris both became political figures in our new society and factions were disbanded.
It was an uneasy peace at first, many still holding to their old faction ideology, but for people like Liam and I it was the best thing that could ever happen. Hugh and Judith were able to get a house next to Eustace and Abby and Marion bought a house near Liam and I.
Not surprisingly, those who had been Amity and Abnegation helped those in need by cleaning out and fixing up homes that'd been damaged in the fighting and gave them to former Factionless as well as those who didn't have enough to buy a house.
Eventually all the old buildings were repaired or demolished if unrepairable to make room for more sound structures. Those whom had been involved in hunting down the Divergent as well as attempting to take over by controlling Dauntless faced trial if they hadn't died during all the war.
The city guilty of controlling us for so long was destroyed, a garden planted in it's place with a memorial plaque at the center, listing the names of every person lost before and during the fighting, regardless of former faction and whether or not it was known if they had been Divergent or merely in Jeanine's way.
There were plenty of old video records from all of our lives and those whom had lived prior, including my parents. As I had long suspected, their death had not been an accident, just made to look that way when they had gotten too close to the truth and threatened those responsible. Every camera inside homes was disabled and pulled down, then they were set up again along the perimeter of our city as security since we were certain there were other cities out there that would come and try to destroy everything we had fought for.
People could become older than before without having to vie for a position of power to stay alive or commit suicide in shame. With the drugs salvaged from all over, new medicines were made and our health program rivaled Erudite even at it's height of ingenuity.
All citizens had a right to defend themselves and carry a weapon if they desired and people like my father-in-law Marion offered self-defense classes for hand to hand and armed combat. Shooting ranges were open to everyone and some even took up old sports seen in movies like fencing.
Farming communities sprouted up all over with plants and animals to sustain the city and many became as adept with herbs as those previously from Amity. Businesses, art galleries and other forms of recreation opened up. The children born into our new world were perfect and showed no signs of the factions we had broken up as their parents, giving them a better life than what most of us had experienced at their ages. We didn't know what would come, but Liam and I agreed we would face everything together and we would do anything to protect our family and friends and they would do the same for us.
The end.
