Title: Miracles From Heaven

Chapter 9

(The funeral was emotional, to say the least. Everyone who cared for Oscar got to say their goodbyes. A few that didn't know Oscar very well still came as they knew Oscar was very much loved and cared for. At the end of the funeral before the luncheon at Oscar's meadow, Alexis Davis announced that the reading of Oscar's will would take place at the Quartermaine mansion and she would be presiding over it)

(After the luncheon was over, Alexis announced that Josslyn, Drew, Kim, Monica, Julian, Cameron, Ned, Olivia, and Carly would be needed. A few wondered why as some didn't associate with Oscar much. However, they agreed and said they'd be there. Elizabeth was there for Cameron. Even though Carly wasn't sure why she was needed, she was there for her daughter)

***Quartermaine Mansion***

(Everyone gathers in the living room. Ned walked around the living room where the will would be read. Olivia sat on the couch along with Monica, Julian, and Cameron. On the couch that was in front of the foyer sat Kim, Drew, and Carly. Alexis was in front of all of them, standing in front of the French doors that led to the garden)

Alexis: "Thank you all for coming. The names I gave earlier, who's currently in attendance, is who Oscar wanted when the will was read."

Liz: "I hope it's okay that I'm here. Being Cameron is under 18 and any legal stuff came up, I wanted to be here for him."

Alexis: (nods) "That's fine, Elizabeth. I have no problem with that."

(Alexis gets the file out of her briefcase and opens the yellow envelope that contains the will. She retrieves the white paper and begins reading it)

Alexis: "From Oscar...Thank you for being here as my will is being read. I know some of you are wondering why you're in the room as I didn't associate with you a lot. Please know that your presence in my life meant a great deal. I appreciated you more then you'll ever know. Ned, thank you for the guitar that you let me use so I could practice and play my music. Thank you, as well, for helping me with the music while I tried to sing the song in completion for Josslyn at the Nurses Ball."

(Everyone looks at Ned, who speaks)

Ned: "His hands weren't the best when it came to playing the guitar for the song, so I helped him. He felt bad, but I assured him I didn't mind. We were able to finish in time before the Nurses Ball..." (to Josslyn) "...he wanted me to give you this piece of paper that had the lyrics and music on it. His request is for you to sing it at the Nurses Ball in his place."

(Josslyn got teary eyed, so Carly comforted her daughter. Josslyn took the piece of paper and looked at it)

Josslyn: "I'm-I'm not sure I can do this."

Carly: (nods) "Follow your heart, honey. Listen to what Oscar would say."

Josslyn: (scoffs lightly) "He'd tell me I can do anything that I set my mind to."

(Alexis reads more of the will when the room grew quiet)

Alexis: "To Monica, thank you for letting me live in your home and for being gracious, giving me what I needed without asking for anything in return. I am proud to call you my grandmother. I know we didn't know each other that long, but I was so happy for the time we did get with each other. Please watch over my mom and dad as I know it's going to be hard on them, if it hasn't been already."

(Monica felt a few tears fall down her cheeks as she looked at Kim and Drew. Drew wiped a few tears that were threatening to fall from his eyes. Kim couldn't control the tears, but she was relieved that she didn't break down like she did at the funeral. She felt embarrassed even though she knew no one blamed her for it)

Alexis: "To Olivia, thank you for always being kind to me and making delicious meals. I could never get enough. I feel like I didn't say it enough, but thank you for always being there when I needed to talk or always offering to make me something when I got hungry. I appreciate all that you did."

(Olivia couldn't help but get teary eyed from hearing that. She chuckles softly as she spoke)

Olivia: "Oh, Oscar. You are so welcome. I enjoyed making you meals and making you feel at home. You were very much a delight around here."

(Kim and Drew looked at Olivia and smiled sweetly)

Kim: "Thank you for being there for our son, Olivia."

Drew: "We will be forever grateful."

Olivia: "The honor was all mine, you two. Kim, you raised an exceptional son. Drew, you did awesome with Oscar and the way he talked about you both...he loved you."

Drew: (smiles a bit) "Thank you for saying that."

Kim: "Thank you to everyone who made Oscar feel at home. We will forever appreciate it."

Alexis: "To Julian, thank you for giving me a job at your pub when, at the time, I needed independence. You gave me a job, no questions asked, and took me under your wing. You helped me out and I thank you for that. On a personal note, please be there for my mom as my death will be especially hard on her. But I know you will be. You're always there for her."

(Julian and Kim face each other and he gives her a brief hug and nods)

Julian: "You know I will, sweetie. I'm always here for you."

Kim: (nods) "I know that and I thank you for that."

Alexis: "To Drew, Oscar left you something in his will."

Drew: (mysterious look) "Oh? What's that?" (shakes his head) "I wasn't expecting anything."

Alexis: (nods) "Oscar was aware you'd probably say that. He had ELQ shares that were given to him. In his will, he wanted you to have them. He felt you would do some good with them."

(Kim massages Drew's shoulder and smiles a bit)

Kim: "Oscar was right. I know you'll do great with them. Like Oscar would, I trust you to follow your heart."

Drew: (smiles briefly) "Thank you."

Alexis: "To Carly, thank you for letting me love Josslyn. For trusting me to keep her safe. For telling me countless times that you approve of our relationship, even when I was trying to protect her from my illness. I never wanted to break up with her, but I didn't want her to feel guilty for being with me knowing I was dying. In the end, I'm glad I was forced to tell her the truth because I didn't want my last moments in life to be without her. I wanted to thank Sonny too for that."

Carly: (smiles & sniffles) "He was always welcome and loved at our house." (to Kim) "...please know I enjoyed getting to know Oscar and that I'm so very sorry he's not here."

Kim: (smiles slightly) "Thank you."

Alexis: "To Cameron, I'm passing down any of my sports stuff that you may want for the school year as well as anything personal. If mom is kind enough to let you look at my stuff, you are welcome to anything you desire. Whether it's at mom's place or at the Quartermaine mansion. Thank you for being a friend, even when I didn't always deserve it. I know I treated Josslyn horribly when I found out I was sick. I didn't want her to go through what I was going through. In the end, it came out. Please take care of her, Cameron. She'll need you...now more than ever.

Cameron: (nods) "I promise I will."

Alexis: "Finally, we reach Josslyn." (to Josslyn) "Josslyn, words can never describe my feelings for you. How much you mean to me. I fell in love with you and, even in death, in my heart, I will treasure our time together. You are my soulmate and my best friend. I don't know how my parents or yours will feel about this, but...I leave you my car. I didn't get to drive it much being I just got my license. I'm sure your parents would have preferred to buy you a car. I will leave it up to you if you want to keep it or sell it. If you choose to sell it, I won't be mad. If you choose to keep it, please picture all the good times we would've had in it. I love you, Josslyn. Even in death, that will never change. Take care of yourself and when the time comes, allow yourself to move on with someone else. I know that will be hard to do."

Josslyn: (nods & sniffles) "He's right. That will be hard to do. He's my love, my soulmate, my heart." (to Carly) "I know you, Sonny, and Dad wanted to get me my own car. But, I want Oscar's being he left it for me."

(Carly pats Josslyn's hair and smiles, nodding)

Carly: "If that's what you want, baby, that's what we'll do."

Josslyn: "Thank you."

(Carly and Josslyn embrace before everyone faces Alexis)

Alexis: (nods) "That concludes the will reading. Does anyone have any questions?"

(Everyone shakes their heads. After, Alexis gets her briefcase together and makes her exit. Ned, Olivia, Julian, Kim, Drew, and Monica make their exit. Carly and Josslyn face each other)

Carly: "Are you okay?"

Josslyn: (shakes her head) "Not right away, no. But I will be. Can we go home? I'm tired and I want to lay down."

Carly: "Sure can."

(Carly and Josslyn leave the Quartermaine mansion)
