As of now, no comments, here's the chapter.
The trial was fast, all of the council's members were tried for treason, but they were not executed, that punishment has been forbidden for some time now in Regalia. All of them were demoted and kicked out of the council.
"Well now that that's out the way, how do you feel about going after those rats?" Asked Ripred.
"Still got a few hundred rounds, I guess that means let's go." Gregor said.
"Yes, that is the most logical way to go now." Luxa said.
"Hey, umm, where are they?" Gregor asked.
"Close to the firelands."Said Ripred.
"Than what are we doing here?" Asked Gregor.
"Why the hurry?" Asked Ripred.
"They are not going anywhere."Said Luxa.
"Yeah, but I want to get it done, I have a surprise for you after all of this." Said Gregor to Luxa.
"What is it?" Luxa asked.
"It's a surprise, your majesty. But if I know you, you'll love it." Said Ripred.
"Than, shall we go?"
"Yeah, let me just get Andrew and Chuck."
The three went after the other two overlanders. They were briefed and told about the mission.
"Are you up for it?" Asked Gregor.
Chuck chucked."Me? Hell yeah, it's Andrew that I'm more worried about."
"Andrew?"
"Yes, but I won't fight, I don't like it, I'll just be there for support."
"Good enough, let's go!"Ripred said.
They went to the high Hall where Howard was waiting for them on Nike (A/N: I hope I am not misspelling that name) with three other bats. On of those three was Aurora. The other two introduced themselves as Noctis and Tenebris.
Noctis and Thenebris were almost identical, same dark fur, same features, but with one difference between them, one of them had a gray line across, while the other had a red line.
Gregor was riding with Luxa on Aurora, while Andrew and Chuck were riding on Noctis. Ripred was riding on Thenebris, since he was a rather big bat."
After about half a day of riding they arrived close to the location of the Gnawers.
As they landed, Ripred said."You will follow me, but stay out of sight range, I want to try and talk them out of this."
"What happened Ripred, scared of a little fight?" Mocked Luxa.
"Me? Never! I'm doing this because of the other overlanders. Gregor might be able to endure killing some rats, but I don't know about those two."
"I don't know." Gregor said."Fine, go ahead and we'll follow close behind."
They walked for about an hour before Ripred stopped. He just stood there. After a minute of staying, he started."I know you are there. Come out and surrender, while you are still able."
A mysterious voice said."Never!"
A rat charged at Ripred. He didn't seem to care, so Gregor took his rifle and fired one shot, perfect hit, and the rat dropped dead next to Ripred.
"What the hell?" Asked Gregor.
"Why did you not tried to defend yourself?" Asked Luxa in a similar tone to Gregor's.
"You wouldn't get it."
Neither Gregor nor Luxa got a chance to continue, because they were stormed by twenty rats and the fight has begun.
The battle lasted for a few hours and right next to the end Andrew, whom was behind, saw a Gnawer sneaking behind Gregor. Andrew acted in less than a second, he took his rifle, the old m16a1, chamberd a round and pulled the trigger. Since his rifle didn't have a supressor, the shot was extremely loud. The rat that snuck behind Gregor laid dead next to him. After twenty minutes, Gregor's gun jammed and three more rats were still standing, so in less than a second he took one of those grenades that he got from Mrs. Cormaci, pulled the pin and threw it. Let's just say that those rats went out with a bang.
At last, our group stood victorious, with a few injuries, of course and with a few hundred rounds fired.
They mounted their bats and headed for Regalia. On the way Gregor couldn't help himself but let out a "huh".
"What's so funny, ex-warrior?" Asked Ripred.
"It's just that I remembered a joke from my uncle." Gregor said.
"Will you tell us?" Asked Howard.
"My uncle was in the army, and when he returned from combat, he used to say 'I gave them enough shots to put them under the table'."
Everyone had confused looks on their faces.
"It's a drinking joke. I'll explain later."
They arrived in the high Hall, where they found Vikus waiting.
"What is it, Vikus?" Asked Gregor as they landed.
"It's about Gregor's parents, they are here."
"They musty found my note."
"They are waiting in the stadium. Oh, and I almost forgot, Gregor, this is for you." Vikus said as he tossed a small, black box to Gregor with a smile."Trust me, you will need it later."
"Ok."
They all headed for the arena, where not only Gregor's parents were waiting, but Lizzie, boots, his uncle and his aunt as well.
"Gregor." His mother started."What are you doing here, and what in the name of God are you doing with that rifle?"
'Straight to the subject than' Gregor thought."Mom, about the rifle, I heard that trouble made it's way here again. As for why I am here, you know very well why."
"Why?"
"Ok, ok, have you ever noticed that I never really fitted there? Or the fact that I was in depression for the past six years? Or that small picture I always kept with me? Or that I almost killed someone over that picture? What about that?" Gregor asked, not really expecting an answer.
"What about your friends? Will you just leave them?" Asked Gregor's dad.
"You mean Chuck and Andrew? They understand, don't you guys?"
The way they were staying in the stadium was in such a way that Andrew and Chuck were hidden behind the bats. So at Gregor's question the bats moved out the way so they could answer.
"Yeah, we understand, don't we, Andrew?"
"Yes."Andrew said.
"See? they understand."
"What about your other friends?" Asked Gregor's dad.
"Who told you I have any other friends in the Overland? All my other friends are here."
The talk began to sound like an argument so Vikus decided to calm things down. "How about we continue this over at dinner?"
"That sounds nice." Gregor's dad said as Gregor's mom gave his dad an angry look.
"Ok, let's go." Gregor said.
He mounted Aurora behind Luxa. While they were flying Gregor decided to check the small black box that Vikus gave him. He opened the lid and immediately shut it. 'It's an engagement ring!Damm Vikus, how did you know?' Gregor though. I might never have a chance if I fail tonight.
"Umm, Luxa?" Gregor asked cautiously in case she heard him close the box.
"Yes?" She responded, not giving any sing that she heard him close the box.
"Could we go somewhere before going to the palace? Somewhere private?"
"Sure." She said." We can go to the cave that belonged to Ares."
"What do you mean by 'belonged'?"
"I mean that his cave is now belonging to the palace."
"Oh."
"But do not worry, nobody ever goes there."
"Alright let's go than."
With those words said Aurora took a 90 degree turn.
When they dismounted, Aurora flew off as they touched ground. She must've seen the ring with her echolocation.
"She'll come back." Luxa said. "Now, what did you wanted to ask me?"
'It's now or never' Gregor though. He kneeled before her and pulled the black box and opened it revealing the ring and asked. "Luxa, will you marry me?"
A tear went down her cheek and said in a quiet and soft voice. "Yes, yes I will."
Wow, maybe the longest chapter yet. You can clearly see that the story it's not done, I want to make another chapter an I am still debating with myself on an epilogue.
