Chapter 21

Another observation deck at the same time Kay and Darjeeling are talking

"Thank you Naomi. I am just worried about what to do with Rosehip." Assam said, playing with the jacket strings. "I am glad you came to see if I was ok."

"No problem. I can also understand wanting to make the ones you love happy. I am sure Rosehip would try anything to impress you." Naomi said checking the time. "Besides this is only your second official relationship since Secondary school."

This last comment made Assam go silent as she had only recently wanted to start dating again due to a bad experience with a girl in Secondary school. Naomi quickly noticed the change in her attitude and changed the subject.

"How is school going?"

"It is going ok I guess. Darjeeling has been closed off to all of us, I hope things go well."

"They will, Darjeeling is re-experiencing these feelings, give her some time to adjust. Trust me I have been in the exact same position. Besides, Kay really likes her. If anything Kay will help her through this." Naomi said looking at the other gunner. "Hey, wanna go take a look at the tanks?"

"Nah, not without Darjeeling's permission. Besides, it is late. I think that Kay and Darjeeling may be about done. It was nice hanging out with you again Naomi."

"Likewise. What about you? Up to anything fun?"

"Rosehip is trying to get me to listen to a new song group she has been listening to. I also wonder if she is planning anything for our one year anniversary coming up in a few weeks. If she does it will be fun."

They continued talking until they reached the docks where they saw Kay embracing Darjeeling who looked pretty content with her. Kay also had the Sherman model that Darjeeling gave her. Naomi cleared her throat causing the other two to separate. Darjeeling was blushing and was bright red and Kay welcomed the other two.

"Hey guys, how is everything?" Kay asked brightly and more energetically.

"Good, we talked about a few things." Naomi said to keep the conversation flowing

Darjeeling moved to the other side of the departing dock. Kay gave a quick wave and blew a kiss to Darjeeling. Naomi playfully pushed Assam as she moved to the departing ship. She stopped by Darjeeling and whispered in her ear.

"I haven't seen the commander this happy in a while, thank you."
