"You know this guy, kid?" The man, who Carlin instantly recognizes, and not just as being somebody older than him, asks the latter.

After a closer inspection by Carlin to note that he's around the same age as Cpl. Ramis, Luke (who Carlin would find more impressive if he wasn't holding a sip-pack of Orgone bubbler) makes a "Yes/No" hand gesture. "We haven't actually met until just now, but I've been aware of him since after the whole Death Star mess. I also heard that i escorted him on Fest." He tells the man.

"I've wondered about the Yavin battle, Skywalker; who was your flight instructor?" Carlin asks.

"Um... I didn't have one, to be honest. My uncle never let me go to the academy." Luke replies, causing his eye to twitch.

"We're all indebted to someone who had no piloting experience whatsoever on his first mission?"

"Hey, i had plenty of experience! Besides the one simulator session, I flew through Begger's Canyon for years in a Skyhopper, which is close enough to an X-wing on the inside." Luke replies before telling Carlin everything else about himself.

Carlin does the same, albeit in accordance to instructions given by Tano and Yoda during his training, he leaves out several details.

Over an hour later, Han shakes his head at both of them before extending a hand. "I'm-"

"Hmm... Han Solo, Corellian; and Chewbacca, his first mate/former slave of imperial commander Pter Nyklas. Wanted in all six primary regions for desertion from the imperial navy, smuggling, murder, and various lesser crimes." Carlin says while folding his arms behind his back.

The two smugglers blanch at this while Luke glances at him nervously. "Diiid he just say murder?"

"I only killed Zlarb for tricking me and Chewie into transporting slaves... and Greedo because, well, i had clients waiting." Han explains, pointing to Luke at the second part. "Gallandro doesn't count because he triggered a super-old security system. Besides, you practically blew up half the empire." He added to both of them. "And how'd ya know all that, anyway; you have that force stuff, too?"

"Before i joined the alliance, i saw your wanted-holos for being part of a disturbance at a bar in Junari Point when i was a traffic patroller for the Chandrilan Civil Protectorate. That and your "biography holofilm"." Carlin says, raising a brow while Han and Chewie try not to look at him.

"If you mean that one about a younger version of me double-crossing a bunch of Black Sun wannabe's-" Han starts to say, but ends up complaining under his breath.

"You used to be an actor?" Luke asks, which he balks at.

"Nah, that film was a prank by another smuggler."(1) Han tells him. "Only part he got right was that "my girl" was a brunette." He adds before Carlin asks how he didn't see the flying flight-helmet a moment ago.

"Yeah, sorry about that. Han didn't even think there was such a thing as The Force before Old Ben and i met him." Luke tells him before Han holds a hand up.

"I said i didn't think it was real. Chewie always have some story about working with Jedi even before the clone wars."/"He does?"/"Dozens, kid. He's older than the three of us put together." Han and Luke both say to each other before Chewie tells the former something. "What, I'm not allowed to exaggerate about you being 200 all of a sudden?" Han asked him.

"Whaf, rhewwy?" Jubbo asks while chewing on something and holding Janson's helmet under a drink dispenser's nozzle while said helmet's owner is pilfering random edibles with the female pilot, Bail, and some random technician.

"Don't talk with your mouth full... and get out of the concession stand!" Carlin shouts before an older pilot grabs Janson's ear.

"Ow, ow, alright, i surrender!" Janson says. "Not so hard, Narr; it took me nine months to requisition that."

"Heh, you'd almost think he owns the place." The lady says about Carlin.

"My family has been in the holotheater business for 20 centuries." He informs her, and speaks with Luke again. "With that settled, what do you think of Chandrila?"

"...Oh; it's amazing here. I always used to think Tatooine was the farthest planet from the bright center of the universe; but now I'm on the closest."

"If only that were true." Carlin tells him before Rhiss walks up.

"Sorry I'm late, i was talking to Ralth, and... so that's what you look like in person." She says to Carlin before noticing Han.

"And who might you be, sir?" Carlin asks the elder pilot.

A question made a little too quickly, if Rhiss's expression was any indication.

"I'm Commander Arhul Narra of Rogue Squadron. I see you've met some of my subordinates."

"I've gotten two names so far, sir. All except her and him." Carlin replies, and the other two introduce themselves as Kasan Moor (Rogue Seven) and Wedge Antilles (Rogue Three). The latter of whom gives Carlin an odd feeling. "You're the fighter pilot who defected a while ago, correct?" He asks the former.

"At Gerrard V; it's more complicated than you think."

"I wouldn't be so sure of that, Miss. It's actually because a dying member of this planet's resistance showed me The Disaster before it happened that I'm part of the rebellion." Carlin replies.

"Before it happened?" She asks, only to answer herself and look at Luke for a second. "He's not the only Jedi we have?"

"He's not the only force-sensitive." He tells her. "The person i refer to was a Maj. Naughlen, who had survived the purge; but he'd been fatally wounded while i was chasing a stolen enemy speeder to the building he was in." He explained further and turned to Wedge. "As for you, I've had a certain reason to read about the missions at Eadu and Scarif."

"Eadu? There's nothing there but rocks, lightning, and soggy nerfs." Han interrupted. "...What?"

"...There's not much to say about that, seeing as how I didn't take part of either." Wedge tells Carlin. "The first was hit by Blue Squadron; and my fighter was damaged at Kalla VII, so i was grounded until Yavin."

"Ah... Did you atleast know of an Atnir Ramis?" He asks, and gets asked in return.

"Only that he was the second pilot shot down by anti-air at Eadu. How did you know him?"

"I didn't, but i know someone who did; who-and i mean no offense, Antilles, is more someone you would be interested in learning about, Skywalker." Carlin explained to both of them.

"I would?"

"You'll find out."

As they are speaking, Bultar is watching them from behind a random landspeeder. "What does he see in that hairless Wookiee?!" She asks herself as she lowers her macrobinoculars.

"Are you blind; he has plenty of hair." She hears from her right, and turns to see a blonde girl her age.

"I don't mean an actual Wookiee, Pvt. whoever you are; i mean the woman with the weird hair." Bultar says before looking to her again. "You're sick, you know that?"

"Huh?" The other rebel asks before balking. "No, no no; I'm not here because of Chewbacca... I'm here because of Capt. Solo."

Back inside, "And which squadron are you in?" Rhiss halfheartedly asks Han, who huffs.

"You know these two?" Carlin asks her, getting another amused expression in response.

"Jess does. They delivered some spare blaster parts to the gang before she took it over." She explains.

"Jess? Assss in the Tundramane's?" Han asks slowly while Chewie makes a nervous sound.

"Why... has something happened to them?" She asks as her tone changes.

"Well; a few months ago, we, uh... were at Aquaris getting Silver Fyre to join us, her deputy tried to Womp-rat us out." Han explains reluctantly. "She checked and found one of his activities included turning her overtures to anyone who found themselves in her newly expanded territory into bait for... for Zygerrians." He added.

"No... you're lying!" She yelled out of character before running out.

Carlin, knowing this is one of the times to regret having gone through the pre-imperial species datafiles, turns to stop her, only for Han, followed by Luke, to grab him, causing him to have a vision of Jess. Her hair is (or will be) long enough to hide her neck, and she seems to be running out of whichever dyeing product she had been using. He also notes that she's looking over her right shoulder at the "back" of a dumb-holo of Luke (who seems nothing like the one standing behind him) speaking to Jabba while sitting against a pillar, and that she has been forced to wear blue leggings, and a top that can only be considered an insult to the bathing tog industry.

"Best to let her deal with this on her own, kid." Han tells him.

Noting that Luke appears to have sensed it as well, Carlin complies. "Did you see her, too?" He asks.

"Her, who? It only lasted a second or two, so i can't tell."

Han, Chewie, and Narra look to each other before silently deciding not to comment. "Wh-what's the fleet's status, Commander?" Carlin asks, and is told that they lost the Aspiration, and not only all of Yellow Squadron, but three pilots from Green, Gold, and Rogue named Shara Bey, Norra Wexley, and Shriv Suurgav(2).

"What most of us haven't learned yet is that the empire didn't retreat from Bormea yesterday, they're waiting for us to that." Commander Narra tells them.

While Carlin is having his vision, Rhiss leaves the theater, only to run into two superiors. "Hold it, what's the rush?" Gen. Syndulla asks while she and a random soldier, who points his rifle at Rhiss until being ordered to stop, help her and the second person back on their feet.

The pair notice Rhiss crying over something that's clearly not an injury. "I know what that face means." The second says aloud.

"I'll let the Chancellor know you'll be late, your highness." Hera tells Leia, who leads Rhiss to the nearest drinking establishment, which just happens to be the same one Carlin mentioned.

Back inside the theater, 'Kasan' speaks up. "If both you and Luke are supposed to be Jedis, how come he's the only one with a lasersword?"

{He doesn't? Aw, now we can't see them sparring.} The Sneevel pilot from Gray Squadron says.

"After i recovered from... several injuries... i was informed that Darth Vader took my lightsaber." Carlin informs them.

"Thus increasing our disadvantages." Cmdr. Narra says. "We're as far inside enemy territory as we can get. One of our Jedi has no weapon, and the other has no skills."

Not long after, Carlin leaves the theater and goes into an alley. "You have some explaining to do." He says, and hears Tano jump down from it's roof behind him. "While i was incapacitated by you, Tano, i saw something strange. Several somethings."

"Darth Vader's memories?"

"Yes." He replies, and starts to hear a noise like the one Inslo's lightsaber gave, only this time it was more pleasant. He reaches into one of his pockets to find a kyber crystal. "Where did this come from?"

"Yoda put it there before you returned to the Iraida." Tano explains. "Inslo's crystal told it to hide from you and Vader, and mine said it was safe."

Carlin considers this before folding his arms over his chest. "Anyway, how is it that the second most evil man in existence shares a name with the father of our most famous pilot?" He thinks to her while narrowing his eyes. "...Answer me."

Ahsoka sighs before complying. "Before i do, know that Luke Skywalker must never discover that before he was born, Anakin turned to the dark side and renamed himself before taking the 501st to raid the temple while the emperor simultaneously ordered every other clone commander to betray us. The reason i survived was because Rex had his bio-chip removed some time after an incident involving two clones named Tup and Fives(3). Yoda and Obi-wan informed me that Anakin did this because he'd been having premonitions about Luke's mother, Padme, dying while giving birth to Luke."

"The chancellor mentioned that name a while ago. Does she know about this?" Carlin replies.

"She has her suspicions, but nothing else." Tano informs him before he continues.

"Aside from that, you mean to say these premonitions were "transmitted" to Anakin by the emperor?"

"All so that it would cause him to end up being the reason his wife died; both in response to all the times she interfered in Palpatine's plans to create the empire, and because he knew Obi-Wan would use her to find Anakin. It's only because the fight they had many years ago resulted in Vader losing half of his sensitivity to the force that you survived long enough for me to get there." She explained, causing him to gulp at the last part.

Carlin finds all of it too far beyond him to say anything further so he just nods. "Can't be true... not possible". He thinks numbly to himself as he walks to the Junari bar, where he is told by a droid waiter that Rhiss left several minutes earlier when hears someone speaking to him. He turns to see Nirame's former boyfriend in a Power Chair. "Hallem?!"

"You remember the store i work in? An AT-AT's head crashed into it during the battle you caused. I also won't be able to get a new leg because Chandriltech's spire is now 6 stories tall instead of 50." He tells Carlin flatly.

"I-" He tries to say, but is interrupted.

"Don't bother. I was on my way to the port when i saw you from across the street. I also hear you did something with Nirame's head." Hallem replies.

Carlin gives a visible sigh, partly so the younger man doesn't notice him reaching for a concealed pistol. "You haven't visited her, then?" He asks, not at all wanting to use it.

Fortunately, Hallem shakes his head. "It's irritating enough knowing you are still alive, so i convinced my new boss to say i died. Let her think that, too." He says before leaving.

Carlin switches his reason for being there until Rhiss sits down next to him. "Rhizz. Shtill ubset?" He asks her.

"I'm over it. Having a few drinks with a princess'll do that." She tells him in a less tipsy voice.

"Yer a wut-a pin'chess?" He asks next, causing her to roll her eyes.

"Sounds like you had a ton of drinks, so let's find a place where you can sleep it off." She says while motioning for one of the organic waiters to help place him in a troop carrier she borrowed. "You wouldn't know if there's any hotels that are still in one piece?" She asks while placing him on the floor.

"I dunno where tuh go, bud lezz go tuh da famlih ahlann." He mumbles while she looks for the "on button".

"...You own an entire island?" She asked outloud.

Carlin nods to her while giving a belch. "Wur' yuh hear'bout dat, Rhizzz?"

"Ugh; you just told me a second ago!" She shouts at him, wondering how this could possibly be the same man. "Are all core-worlders this weak against alcohol?"

Without waiting for him to answer, she starts-up the troop carrier and head back to the Cee-Cee, but stops when she starts veering towards a streetlamp. She decides to arrange a flight, instead.

After waiting for another carrier to retrieve them, and be lectured at, the two take a U-wing to the island Carlin mentioned. After the pilot pointed it out to her, she turned around to see Carlin sitting still.

"You can wake up now, we're almost there." She says as she nudges him.

"I'm aware, thank you. I've been meditating to detoxify myself."

"It can do that?" She asks him, getting a small grin in response.

"The force can only do what I ask of it." He informed her as he undoes the safety harness and looks out the hatch's veiw-port.

"That's it… what's left of it." He says as they see several people around the island's largest structure, almost the same size as his main house. One worker, who likely heard the U-wing approaching, could be seen leaning out of a room on the second level, which was not the only one with broken windows. "The empire must have taken everything inside."

Once the U-wing drops them off, one of the people, and a Jv-Z1/D droid walk over to them. "Buzzington?" Carlin asks aloud.

"Welcome back, young sir; my logi-core was nearly overloaded when Miss Nirame suddenly return to the mansion." The droid tells him as it bows it's head.

"That's my fault, I'm afraid." Carlin replies, and looks over to Rhiss. "Rhiss, this is Buzzington, our housekeeper. He's been serving us for three hundred years."

"I thought it was a statue until we noticed that it hadn't been taken." The other person quipped.

"Greetings, madam. Miss Nirame made me aware of the situation and sent me here." The droid tells Rhiss and Carlin. "However, I was not informed that you would have a guest with you."

"She didn't? Why not?"/"I'll have a talk with her later." The pair say to each other before the person speaks up.

"I guess all of this confirms that you are Mr. Carlin Deler."

"Yes; why do you ask?"

"I'm with Renrut construction. We passed this place on our way to Sarini after the empire looted it, so our CEO called the mayor of Emita. He authorized us to add this to our workload."

"I see; thank you. How much progress have you made?" Carlin asks the man.

"Your droid told us that the only other thing left were the mattresses. The stormtroopers probably didn't bother because they'd just be "confiscated" by an officer… my cousin did that to some of his, once."

"I've taken the liberty of ordering sheets, food, and drinks for you, sir." Buzzington tells Carlin, who motions for him to follow a short distance away.

"That probably wouldn't include any of The Blue?" He asked.

"Determining… negative. The entire planet's supply of it was taken by order of Moff Seerdon."

Carlin groans before nodding. "Raava it is, then. Thanks, anyway; to both of you."

While the workers continue, Carlin takes Rhiss to a spot on the shore, and he apologizes after they sit down. "I'm sorry, Rhiss. I should have expected this."

"You don't need to be; I've seen worse." She replies while placing a hand on his shoulder. "Caused worse, too, now that I think about it."

Carlin stares at her before rolling his eyes. "We would stay here every first month that school was over for the season; and it sometimes was rented to anyone in the holofilm industry who would visit Chandrila."

"Really?"

"Oh yes. Wynssa; she was in my sister's roo..." Carlin started to say, still slightly bitter after hearing about his former idol having had a son with a TIE fighter pilot.

"So you did actually meet her?" Rhiss asks him.

"Of course; how else did you think I found out about her?" He replied with a false grin. "It was after her fifth performance. Because of my connection to the Cavalcade, the chief assigned me to personally escort her around. I was always one step away from passing out at the sight of her."

"Pfft; you could go up against Darth kriffin' Vader without flinching, but not a piffer like Wynssa Starflare?"

"I-I was only 19 back then!" Carlin huffed.

"Verifying… 19 years, 8 months, and 1 day."

"Please keep out of this, Buzzington!" He said while Rhiss snorted at him. "And I'd only been with the CCP for almost a month, so of course I was nervous about walking right next to the most amazing woman alive… I mean, back..." He added before he could stop himself.

"How do I compare to her now; do you still think she's better looking than me?" Rhiss asks him, but he is saved when other service droids arrive with the meal.

"Rhiss, this is roasted fecklen with colla sauce, pickled blackbeak egg, and the drink is called Raava. I almost forgot what real food smelled like." Carlin says as he takes a few slices from the platter.

Despite his elation, the two dine in silence as Rhiss gets an idea, and offers him another glass. "I… I thenk you're ub… up to something, Rhizz." He stammered.

"Who, me?" She asks him, almost as drunkenly, with an exaggerated look on her face. "I thenk you've had-too much… maybe me, too-let's go. Hey, buzzuzington? Wheresh his room at?" She says before asking the droid.

"Calculating… 48.62 % chance you are addressing me. This way, sir and madam." Buzzington replied.

The next day, Carlin wakes up in a familiar location, feeling as if a hundred Ghorla's had been prancing on his head. His room in the dacha on the Deler's private island on the silver sea. "How'd i get here?" He asks himself, only to notice Rhiss lying next to him, causing him to almost fly off the bed.

Even more alarming is that both of them are out of uniform.

"Morning, handsome." She says while sitting up and covering herself with one arm.

"Ah no; please tell me we didn't..." He pleaded, only for her to smile at him as she slides the fingers of her other hand through her halyway-to-her-elbows hair.

Not that he was watching her at all.

"You were downright voracious last night."

"Rhiss, stop it. It's not funny." He tells her while getting his clothes back on. "I can't believe i did that to you."

"Settle down. I admit you're not the first man, drunk or sober, that I've slept with... I've also rented an HRD or two... but the only person who tried to force himself on me had both his arms broken." She tells him while putting her underwear back on. "I let you have me, and i took a nano-cap(4) before the first round." She tells him.

Carlin takes a moment to wonder whether he should consider this reassuring before looking back to her. "First round?" He asks, and blanches when she tells him they had sex three and a half times. "Half?"

"I'm not sure if it had to do with you being a Jedi or not, but the first thing you did was-"

"Nevermind." He says while covering his ears. "What time is it?"

"9:40 in the morning."

"That's half a day gone, then." He replies before getting his comlink. "Capt. Rey?"

"Where on mustafar are you, private?! You missed eight check-ins! Present yourself before i have you cleaning every fighter in the fleet!"

"Y-yes sir, right away, sir!"

After they return to the mainland and are ordered to run up and down Hanna's longest road, Carlin is informed that the Deler's have agreed to be evacuated.

Back at the Deler house, he and Rhiss, along with his squadmates (except for Geph, who chose to return to the Iraida as soon as the fighting was over), exit the U-wing while a Blockade Runner lands next to them. "Mr and Mrs. Deler, I'm Capt. Rey; Carlin's commanding officer." The captain tells his parents, while the ship's crew take Nirame and what few belongings that hadn't been stolen by Seerdon onto the larger ship.

"Alright, where will we be going?" Tab asks him.

"You'll be living on one of our safeworlds, the name of which I'm not authorized to know, but it's extremely far from here."

"Thank you, captain, but... that hair color is artificial, right?" Ibellia tells him when she notices Rhiss.

"I can hear you." She replies as she fold her arms. "It's just as real as the rest of me."

"...I will not be spoken to like that!"/"Mother... Rhiss, don't act like that to my-I'm sorry, mother, she's-she's never been to a core-world before."/"Form up, you two." Carlin's mother, Carlin himself, and his commander each say while Carlin is getting laughed at by everybody else (except Rhiss, who glares at him).

"Mother; Rhiss; you'll both have to get along with one-another."

"Why should i?"/"Because by then, you'll have taught this young woman about manners?" They ask him at the same time.

"No, mother. We invoked the pledge of formation." He partially lies.

"Carlin Deler." His mother says with a look of shock on her face. "...How did you even meet this person?"

He and Rhiss both gulp before they explain everything that happened at Contruum.

"You were almost gutted?!" Both of his parent's say to him.

"Stop it... yes, i nearly died more than once, but i don't regret a second of it. I love her, mother; and you will too once you get used to each other."

"Is this true?" His mother asks her, and Rhiss grabs his arm before nodding.

"Yes, Mrs. Deler," She tells her, then turns toward Carlin. "I love you too, Carlin. I may have taken your cred-fold, and was an inch from taking your life, but you did way worse. You took my heart."

Everybody stares at them from a few seconds before Jubbo raises a hand. "That why you having Carlin-friend's sce-" He is saying until Rhiss drags him away by the trunk.

"Muh poow liffle probifif!"

"If that's what i think you were planning to say, I will turn your "probifif" inside-out."

"...I nod smewwing nofin tobay."

When they get back, Carlin's mother speaks again. "Just how much of the pledge did you preform?"

He huffs before replying. "...The first two. I only described the last part." He says out of the corner of his mouth.

"Very well. Capt, have your men get a container of water from the silver sea; we'll not be leaving until they are properly wed."

"You mean now? But ma'am-"

"Do not presume you can talk me out of this, soldier. I am a Chandrilan!" Carlin's mother tells his commander.

"Y-yes, ma'am." Capt. Rey says as he leans away from her. "First one of you to laugh does inventory!"

"You should both find something better to wear, son." Tab tells them. Carlin thinks about this, and for some reason, he recalls something about princesses, but shrugs it off.

Carlin and Rhiss return to Emita, where he leads her down a street (and around what's left of a TIE Striker). "Here, the Pothman's own this store." He tells her, and the look around to see it had been looted by the imperials during their withdrawal.

"Is that Carlin i see; so you really are alive?" They hear from their right. "And who is this?" A dark-skinned man asks as he stands and walks over a toppled rack.

"Hello again, Mr. Pothman; this is Rhiss. We're getting married and we need something more formal to wear."

"Married? Good gracious, i still remember how you used to detest it when your mother brought you here." The manager tells them merrily before turning around. "Taibel, find this young lady a dress-and the Imager, while you're at it! Carlin Deler's back and gotten invoked." He says as his wife runs over.

"He's what?! Come here, miss; we may not have any wedding clothes at the moment, but we'll get you something." She says while dragging Rhiss to an aisle.

Eventually, Carlin finds a yellow suit with red highlights, while Rhiss has a lilac long-sleeve gown with a silver tabard and shoulder-bits(5). "It... it looks great on you." He says as she turns around slowly, showing that she also had a wooden upsidedown y-shaped accessory that gave her two hairtails.

"Thanks... It's heavier than i thought it was, and i haven't worn high heels since i was a banner-twirler for the Swoop track on Saleucami; but I'll take it." She exclaims, which gets Carlin glanced at.

"Ignore that, please." He says, and asks about the price.

"...Right. It'll have to be for free since the army took our cash register." Mr. Pothman informed them before they left.

Once they got back to the house, they found a much bigger crowd then when they left. "One of your pals must have talked." Rhiss tells Carlin as they see Luke, Han, Chewie, and another person.

"Princess Leia's here?"/"You came, too?" The couple ask at the same time. "How do you know her?" They ask each other again.

"On the holonet; she was a senator, remember?" Carlin replies.

"Rhiss kind of literally ran into me and Gen. Syndulla when that mercenary told her about her sister." Leia explains, making him glance at Rhiss. "Relax, Pvt; I'm not flammable or anything."

Carlin's family begins to board the blockade runner. "No, wait; i d~on't want to leave, i wan-" Nirame starts to say as she shoves her face in Carlin's chest.

"No, Nirame. You don't want to fight alongside us. I can barely stand being part of this." He tells her. It wasn't the force-persuasion Yoda taught him to use on his planet's predators; he was speaking of what he felt as he killed so many stormtroopers as Tab pulled Nirame off him and into the ship.

"Please~be safe, baby. Please." Ibellia says to him as she embraces him and Rhiss. "I do~don't want to sound like my father, ~but, may The Force be~..."

"~Yes, mother. And may it be with all of you." Carlin replies as tears fall down all three faces.

"You'll see him again~" Rhiss said next. "I promise you... ~mother." She added as best as she could before they let go.

Carlin watches silently as, in the opposite way as before, he is separated from his family again.

Following that, the couple enter the house to change back to their "informal wear" when she stops to look at a small glass panel in the wall that covered a small space with three holes. "What's with this?" Rhiss asks him.

"That is one of the rest areas for the mouse tunnels, because it's their planet, too. The dacha didn't have them because the island had no mice." Carlin explained.

"Well, you're not adding them in whichever house we have built."

"...It hasn't even been ten minutes and we're already spatting?" He asks her. The new couple stare at each other before laughing.
