Ex-Princess of Anarchy
Author's Note: Sorry it has been forever. Working from home due to Covid makes me not want to be on a computer at the end of the day. I also recently gave birth to a baby girl. I know it is short but this mama is TIRED.
They headed back to the to the club house in silence. Scarlett just held on to Jax hand as he drove back to the clubhouse. A thousand things were running through her mind. Occasionally, she would wipe a tear from her eyes.
"Hey," Jax said after he parked the car at Teller-Morrow. "It will be ok, Scar. We will protect you," he said before pulling her into a hug.
"Jax, with him here, I think I need to return to school before the end of the week and ask them if I can take my exams early," she said before burying her face in his shirt.
"I will talk to Tara. I am not letting you out of my sight. We can arrange a plan," he said before kissing her on the top of her head. "Come on. Let us go inside. I will fill everyone in, and you can rest in my room."
"Um, actually, can I borrower Juice?" she said glancing up at his questioning glance. "I can't type my papers with one hand and Juice is good with computers. I can talk and he can type."
"Ok," he said with a small laugh. "I will talk to Juice before I talk to Clay. Let us go inside," he continued before opening his door. He opened her door and wrapped his arm around her once she had gotten out of the vehicle.
As they crossed to the club house her phone rang.
"Hello?" she said picking it up carefully.
"Scarlett, it is Hale," Hale's voice came from the receiver.
"What can I do for you?" she asked politely.
"I wanted to warn you. I attempted to have Conner removed from Charming, but Stahl stopped us. She said her investigation trumped the protection order. I am putting in a request with a judge to expand the restriction on your protection order. Don't stray far from places with a lot of people. If he breaks the amount of feet, I will arrest him again. Nothing will happen to you in my district," Hale said quickly through the phone before hanging up.
Scarlett froze in her spot out of fear and dropped her phone.
"Scar," Jax said running back to her. "What is wrong?" he said as he grabbed her arm. "Scar?"
"What is going on Jackie Boy?" Chibs said crossing the parking lot to them.
"I don't know someone called then she froze and dropped her phone," he answered. "Scar, what is wrong?" he asked placing his hands on her face.
"Conner..." she started but she was cut off by a voice at the gate.
"Hey baby!" the voice called causing them all turn to face the gate. Conner stood there with a smirk on his face leaning on the gate.
"Come closer. I dare you," Jax yelled across the lot as he pushed Scarlett behind her.
"I think I like where I am standing. It has quite the view," Conner responded not moving a muscle.
"Jackie Boy, who is this asshole?" Chibs said standing beside Jax to hide Scarlett more.
"I will introduce myself. I am Conner Williams, Scarlett's current boyfriend," he said as walked the line of the gate.
"O this is the piece of shit!" Chibs said going to move forward but was stopped by Scarlett grabbing his arm.
"Don't Chibs, this is what he wants," she whispered.
"Ugh!" Chibs said as he stepped backwards. "Why don't you step on the other side of that gate?"
"I like the view from where I am. Besides I wouldn't want to violate that protection order," Conner answered standing in the middle of the entrance.
"Sack!" Jax called.
"Jax, let's just go inside," Scarlett said pulling on his sleeve.
"Yea Jax! Listen to that whore of yours. Run inside like a little boy," Conner laughed.
"What did you just say?!" Jax said starting across the parking lot.
"Jax! Stop! He isn't worth it!" Scarlett said trying to grab onto his arms but Chibs pulled her back towards him. "Let's just go inside. Jax! He isn't worth it."
"Today is your lucky day, asshole. Your luck will run out one day, and I hope I am there to see it," Jax said walking backwards towards Chibs and Scarlett. "Come on darling. Let's go inside," he said wrapping his arm around her shoulders and kissing her forehead. Scarlett buried her head on Jax's chest as him and Chibs led her inside.
As soon as they closed the door, Chibs disappeared while shouting for some people and making calls on his cell phone. Scarlett barely heard any of it. She was in a daze. She didn't even notice Jax had set her down on the sofa and was in front of her trying to talk to her.
"Darling? Scarlett," she finally heard Jax speaking.
"I will be ok," she said stiffly.
"What happened?" Clay said as he was coming through the door into the clubhouse.
"Here Clay, I pulled up the security footage," Juice said from his computer at the bar.
"I can only assume that he is the scumbag. How the hell is he here?" Clay asked after watching the footage.
"Stahl. She is claiming he is helping her on the federal case. He can be in Charming, but he has to stay so many feet from Scarlett at all times," Jax said from his spot in front of Scarlett. "Hale is trying to get the distance increased. I am going to give him a call and tell him what just happened," he added before going to stand but Scarlett grabbed his arm and looked at him with eyes full of panic. "What is wrong?" he asked as he sat back on the table in front of her.
"The protection ordered does not include my parents. Jax, he can show up at my house or the hospital and talk to my parents! He could threaten them or worse!" She said as she started to hyperventilate and panic. She stood up quickly and began to pace.
"Scar!" Jax said as he grabbed her arms and held her in front of him. "The club can protect them."
"But that is what Stahl wants. If you are protecting them and anything happens, Stahl will come down on the club at full force," she said as tears slid down her face.
"I need you to breath, darling," Jax said putting his hands on each side of her face before pulling her into his arms.
"Jax," she said softly after a few minutes. "Give me your phone."
"Who are you calling?" He asked as he pulled his phone out of his pocket.
"I am calling Hale. If the club cannot watch my parents for fear of Stahl, the least he can do is spare some officers to watch over them until he can get a judge to approve a new protection order," she said as she began to dial the precinct. "Chief Deputy Hale please," she said into the phone. "Yes, I will hold a moment." After a few moments Hale picked up on the other end. "Hale, it is Scarlett. When you contact that judge to extend the protection order, can you see if they will make it, so it extends to my parents, my home and my place of employment?"
"Why? What happened?" Hale's voice came from the other end.
"Conner showed up to Teller-Morrow to try and start a fight. He is currently standing right outside the gate of the parking lot," she responded. "I am afraid that once he leaves here that he will either go to parents' home or to my father in the hospital. Hale, I need you to put units on them for protection until the protection order comes through. He is unstable," she said as her voice cracked.
"Don't worry Scarlett. Nothing will happen to you or your parents. Not in mine town and not on my watch," Hale answered after a brief pause. "I will send a unit to your house and one to the hospital to watch for Conner. I will tell the units that if he attempts to talk to either them or approach them that they are to arrest him on the spot."
"Thank you, Hale. Goodbye," she said before hanging up the phone and handing it back to Jax. "We need to go tell my parents. I also need to stop and get a new phone."
"We can do both," Jax responded calmly.
"Not alone you two aren't," Clay said from the bar. "You are to take Happy. And if Jax cannot be with you, then you will have another member. But as of now, Happy is your permanent bodyguard."
"I won't argue with you, Clay. You are the president. Whatever you want, I will do," she responded looking at him.
"Good. Now go get yourself a new phone and talk to your parents. We will be a call away if you need us," Clay said as he crossed to her and gave her a hug.
"Why a new phone?" She asked.
"Yours broke when you dropped it," Chibs said handing her a phone with a shattered screen.
"Great!" she exclaimed before turning to Clay. "We will stop by the house after we talk to my parents. Let's go, boys," she said as she crossed to the door and opened.
"Boys," Clay said turning to Jax and Happy. "Make sure you protect the princess."
"Yes, sir," they both responded before all three left the building.
"He is still out there, isn't he?" she asked as they crossed the parking lot to her car.
"He is," Happy said quietly. "But the moment we move, he will have to move. And if he doesn't voluntarily, I will make him."
"Follow behind us?" she asked Happy, as she handed her keys to Jax.
"Will do," Happy said before crossing to his bike and mounting it. As soon as they were in the car, Jax nodded to Happy and they set out for the center of town. Conner must have left when he saw them getting into Scar's car because he was nowhere to be found.
After a quick stop in town, they were on their way to the hospital. Scarlett had called her mother and made sure she was at the hospital so she could tell them both at the same time. This was the day she always dreaded.
"What are you thinking about?" Jax asked after some silence.
"How do I tell my parents? Jax, what if this gives my dad a heart attack?" she responded quietly.
