It was the day of the school festival and most of the students were already at campus but not Mogami, so Nishikata called him
Nishikata : hey man, so are you coming for the festival?
Mogami : what school festival?
Nishikata : well theres a school today evening ( there are so many posters on the walls but since he can't see properly he has no idea)
Mogami : just go without me…
Nishikata : why?! It will be fun!
Sumire : wait lemme talk for a sec ( he handed her his phone) what do you mean go without you?!
Mogami : stop acting like a headless chicken takagawa
Sumire : you know no one will umm… Mess with you as long as you stay with us…
Mogami : it's not that...I have other problems…
Sumire : What problems?
Mogami : well it's evening… I'll be fine at the start of the festival but I'll be completely blind midway through… I'll need support to just walk… plus add crowds to that… It's not exactly ideal… If I take support from Nishikata or takagi I'll just be a third wheel for the couple ( they already have to deal with Izumi as it is..)
Sumire : ( he didn't even consider me as an option….. That hurts a bit…. Wait, why am I this hurt…) oh… well I can support you if you want
Mogami : you? Well yeah… I guess… I doubt you'll be able to stand being with me for that long though… I'm not exactly the best person to hang out with…
Sumire : so you're coming
Mogami : ( he sighed) ( I don't want to make my only friends dissappointed..) fine… I'll be there…. ( he hanged up)
Mogami got away from the case files and called his driver to take him to the festival..
The festival was held on the campus and the mountain and shrine behind the school
Mogami : well here I am…
Nishikata : don't be so glum we'll have some fun…
Mogami : yeah.. yeah..
Takagi : ( she was already locking hands with nishikata) so should we play some games first or food stalls first….
Mogami : I say food stalls maybe something sweet
Sumire : I'd say games first
Mogami : ( I can't really play most of the games) I'll take spicy too…
Nishikata : I think we should eat first cause why not?
Takagi : fine with me
Sumire : ok but what dish? So many things to choose from
Takagi : we should eat something spicy before sweet so…
Nishikata : I'll take some meat bowls..
Mogami : we could do with ramen or takoyaki too…
Takagi : ( she smiled as the memory of nishikata feeding her came back) I say we can eat takoyaki later.. ( she whispered into his ear) maybe alone..
Nishikata : maybe some ice-creams too…
Takagi : (she chuckled) no but really what should we eat?
Mogami : I say some good old noodles...also what's funny about ice-creams and takoyaki?
Takagi : uh… Um… Yuki you handle this one
Nishikata : wha- me?! How do I..
Sumire : it's an inside joke between them I think…
Takagi : right! That's what it is…
Sumire : ( maybe more than that but I'm not gonna ponder more)
Mogami : couples are weird ( he shrugged) but yeah i vouch for noodles
Nishikata : I can get behind that what do you two say?
Takagi : I'll take some ramen
Sumire : extra spicy for me..
They all got themselves some noodles
Takagi : I don't get how you people even stand extra spicy, yuki hated spicy food back in middle school and now he can't get enough of spice, I think Sumire also hated spicy food but now she loves it
Sumire : well.. I was raised in a chocolate bakery, I had a pretty huge sweet tooth…
Nishikata : unlike me Shuichi has some taste in food and eventually spicy food grew on me…
Mogami : I still have a sweet tooth…
Sumire : yeah can you believe he ordered 14 chocolate donuts that day
Mogami : well I can't stand too much spicy food… I Even chose the mildly spicy noodles… guess I'm pretty childish…
Takagi : liking sweets doesn't make you a child, look at me I like sweets
Sumire : What makes you think you're an adult, you're still a child
Takagi : and you're an adult?! ( sarcastically)
Sumire : no I'm not
Takagi : ( what the-) I wasn't expecting you to agree
Sumire : I know I'm childish and so I know that you are definitely not an adult
Takagi : I swear one day you're gonna make me punch you
Sumire : try me bitch
Nishikata : woah woah!! Stop the fighting right there ladies
Takagi : we're just joking around yuki don't worry
Sumire : ( she scratched her head) it's a joke…
After they had all finished the food they separated to go to different places
Mogami : so do you have somewhere to go?
Sumire : what's that supposed to mean?
Mogami : I didn't know there was a festival until an hour ago so I haven't really planned anything…
Sumire : ( well since I'm gonna have to be with him from now on I need to find something we can both enjoy) what games can you…
Mogami : treasure hunt… (its like the only game I can play…)
Sumire : ( his choice is oddly childish but I guess we can go there) then let's go there..
They both got to the treasure hunt and the place was filled with couples
Sumire : ( couples… I Guess that's expected… Its a chill game couples are mostly the ones who play it and they are just using it as an excuse to roam under campus at night time..)
Mogami : ( he got the pamphlet) I can't read anymore so read it loudly..
Sumire : yeah.. ( wait…. This place is filled with couples…) ( realisation hit her)...
Mogami : hey? What's wrong? Read it
Sumire : ( This is not a date. This is not a date. This is not a date. This is not a date…..)
Mogami : hey takagawa ( he snapped his fingers in front of her face to get her attention)
Sumire : AHH?!!
Mogami : spacing out?
Sumire : Y-yeah sorry… ( she read out the pamphlet..) so any ideas?
Mogami : ( this is way too easy… not much fun…) follow me ( he then walked with the help of his cane)
Sumire : ( he's almost completely blind at this point…) ( she stayed closer to him just in case he needed some help)
Together they solved the treasure very quickly with many students judging Mogami and sumire glaring and scaring them away
Receptionist : congrats you two were the fastest at solving this treasure hunt!!
Sumire : ( It was mostly him solving and me walking alongside him)
Receptionist : you have won all the prizes!!
Mogami : yeah yeah… ( that was boring I expected better of Totomi but then again I'm used to much more complexity)
They both received the prizes
Mogami : a box of chocolates…. It Is… Acceptable…
Sumire : you even got this… Er… charm?
Receptionist : it's a love charm which is supposed to help people find love ( she handed Sumire a card with listed its properties)
Sumire : ( just keeping it in your wallet or purse is enough for it to influence your love life and if one person gives it to another it should be considered as a marriage proposal) (how lame)
Mogami : too bad I don't believe in all those rumors…
Sumire : I know right, like even I think its lame
They both collected their box of chocolates
Mogami : (he handed her a chocolate bar) here
Sumire : it's ok you don't have to share you did most of the work anyway..
Mogami : well I can't just take it like that…
Sumire : I was raised in a chocolate bakery so sweets aren't anything new for me I always have enough so just enjoy this box yourself!
Mogami : ….. I'm a bit jealous… ( he munched on his bar) so where to next?
Sumire : where do you wanna go?
Mogami : I just chose this treasure hunt, I can't chose everything… ( I don't really think I wanna do anything else so maybe she'll have a good idea)
Sumire : hmm…. ( she thought hard..) let's go to the shrine on top of the mountains
Mogami : shrine?
Sumire : apparently the student council has planned a firework show in middle of the festival so maybe we can see that before you.…
Mogami : ( I don't know whether I'll be able to even see the fireworks but…) good idea…
They were both walking through the festival grounds when the lights suddenly went out
Mogami : what the- ( he got really startled by all the lights suddenly going out)
Sumire : looks like a power outage ( she peered over) only this part of of the festival is out
In the distance a person shouted " don't panic and slowly move to the other side of the festival while we fix this" and so everyone ignored him and started a stampede while moving to the other side
Sumire : OUCH!! (everyone was pushing them)
Mogami : takagawa!! ( he tried to stay together but since everything was dark his already bad eyes hadn't adjusted)
The crowd pushed them
Sumire : ( she tried to hold his arm but the crowd was moving too quickly she somehow got the hold of Mogami's cane but she was too far to reach his hands she tried to use the cane to get close to him )
Mogami : WAIT NO!! ( he felt his cane slip away from his hands)
Sumire : ( since he suddenly left the stick she crashed back into a wooden pole) AHH ( she screamed as he felt pain in her head and back)
Sumire was disorientated for a few seconds before she snapped back into reality
Sumire : ( the crowd had finally calmed down a little and she got some footing) where….
It took her a few more seconds to remember everything when she realized what she was holding
Sumire : ( she stared in horror at the cane in her hand, as she remembered how he was without his cane) ( without a second thought she started running)
Sumire ran….. desparate….. trying to find Mogami... She remembered how he was without his cane..
Sumire : ( she was almost at the end of her stamina when out of the corner of her eye she saw a person curled up on the ground in a dark corner )
Mogami : ( he was completely miserable, frozen, scared and shivering)
Sumire : ( she immediately ran up to his and gave him his cane)
Mogami : ( he weakly held the cane but he was still unable move out of fear)
Sumire : ( she dragged him onto a bench so he could sit properly) ( she tried to calm him down)
Mogami : ( he was still shivering)
Sumire : ( she sat beside him to clam him down) it's alright now…
Mogami : ( he suddenly hugged her while still shivering and not thinking straight )
Sumire : (she let out a little squeak and immediately started blushing) ( she looked at Mogami but saw that his eyes were empty and scared)
Mogami : ( he was still shivering very much like a scared little child)
Sumire : ( It's ok… its ok…) ( while still blushing she gently hugged him back… she gently rubbed his back and stroked his hair and then he slowly start calm down)
They stayed in that position for quite a long time until Mogami was finally back to normal
Mogami : …….. ( he let go of the hug)
Sumire : ……
Mogami : ( apologetic) I'm so sorry for that…
Sumire : don't apologise… ( She was still recovering from the hug)
Mogami : ( looks like I fucked up…. I was actually enjoying this friendship a little… I guess it's ruined now… All thanks to me…) sorry for ruining everything… ( he got up)
Sumire : Mogami wait… ( she pulled him back…) It wasn't your fault… Nothing is ruined…
Mogami : Takagawa… ( he turned around and didn't know how close there were sitting together… his hand brushed her face) ( what the-) ( her face was wet… almost as if she was crying)
Sumire : ( tears rolled down her cheeks) I'm sorry…
Mogami : ( he was surprised and didn't know what to say) why are you apologising…
Sumire : if it wasn't for me… Then this would have never happened… ( she was now crying) you didn't wanna come but I forced you anyway…
Mogami : …..
Sumire : I even messed up and took your cane from you while trying to get close…. I'm just a stupid bitch… ( her tears didn't stop flowing)
Mogami : ( he pulled out a napkin from his pocket) takagawa don't cry.… ( he wiped the tears off her face)
Sumire : ( she just stayed silent) … ( I'm so useless…) I'm just so sorry…
Mogami : even though I didn't really enjoy the treasure hunt game… This was the best time I've had in years…
Sumire : ( her tears were still there) but I-
Mogami : because of you I finally had some fun after so many years… I'm just really thankful for that… please don't cry…
Sumire : I don't get you… On one hand you call me an annoying bitch… Which I am… I mean I mess up everything… on the other hand you're so nice to me.. ( no… He's just nice to everyone)
Mogami : ( he really didn't know why he was nice to Sumire specifically) … Like I said… I admire you… And even if you are a bitch sometimes I don't think anything of it since I'm not the best of people either…
Sumire : ( she realized something) ( he accepts me even though I am a bitch…) thanks… I needed that…
Mogami : ( he got a slight smile before his face was stone cold again) now turn back into the annoying takagawa I like her better…
Sumire : yeah…. ( she was blushing again) ( I really might like him…)
After they were done talking the fireworks started
Mogami : it isn't actually that bad…
Sumire : huh?
Mogami : I almost can't see anything because it's dark… But because of that my eyes can actually focus on the sky ( his eyes shone with priceless joy) I can actually see fireworks…
Sumire : at least something good happened to us… ( she clenched her chest, her heart was beating fast, she took deep breaths to calm down) ( she got a smile on her face and enjoyed the fireworks)
After the fireworks
Mogami : I think we should head back now… ( I don't really know how to thank her for staying with me…) take this ( he tossed something to her)
Sumire : ( she caught the thing in her hand) (she peered into her hand and it was the charm) ( she immediately went completely red) (w-w-what……. Did He…. J-J-just….. To me?…… what the fuck am I supposed to do?!! )
Mogami : what's wrong? ( completely unaware of the rules of the charm)
Sumire : Do-do you know what the rules of the charm are….
Mogami : rules? What rules?
Sumire : ( so he doesn't know…) ( she told him the rules)
Mogami : ( his face went pale) Im sorry, I thought girls liked these things so… I Apologise…
Sumire : no… It's fine… ( I don't generally keep things like this… But… I guess I can make an exception this once.. ) let's go you wanted to get something sweet right…
Mogami : but…
Sumire : it's only a little time before they'll be out of stock don't wanna miss that… ( she reached for his hand) just so we don't separate again… ( she said while looking away and blushing )
Mogami : ( he didn't have that much idea of what romance was even supposed to be so holding hands wasn't that big of a deal to him) ok…
