Disclaimer: I do not own the rights to Zootopia or any of the affiliated characters (except for a handful of OCs I created for this story), they belong to Disney. This story is Hopps and Wilde in a gritty, shoot-em-up style cop movie (much like Lethal Weapon), and there will be some bunny and fox romance in the story. Rated M for violence, language and sexual situations.

Chapter Twelve: Goodbyes and Hellos
Zootopia Cathedral, Savannah Central
Nick, Judy and the rest of the ZPD officers stood solemnly in the church, wearing their dark blue, class A uniforms, all staring at the flag draped coffin. With Krueger in prison and Spotzen dead, the McBoot family decided that George, or Mack to his friends, could finally rest in peace. It was a large, public, military style ceremony, honoring the brave kangaroo, who served as a soldier, police officer, as well as a devoted husband and father. It brought tears to the eyes of all the good cops that knew him, sad to see him ended in such a cruel, merciless way, but happy to have the privilege of knowing Mack.
The officers snapped to attention as the priest, an ancient elephant, stopped talking, and silver taps began to play, echoing through the massive chamber, followed by a twenty one gun salute. Nick and Judy did not say a single word until they left the building.
"Ya know," said Clawhouser, as he caught them exiting the building, "Mack has a son who just joined the ZPD." "Will this mean another dead McBoot," said Judy. "Oh there you guys are," said the eager voice of a young, male kangaroo, "I've heard so much about you two." "Speak of the devil," chimed in Nick as he, Judy and Clawhouser turned around to see a young kangaroo, without a bush hat or scar on the top of his head, wearing what seemed to be a brand new uniform. "Oi mates," said the kangaroo, "my name's Danny McBoot, Mack's boy." "Hi," said Nick, "I'm the resident sly fox," then he gestured to Judy, "and this is Officer Carrots." Judy decided to brush it off, and eagerly introduce herself to the boy, "Hello Danny," she said warmly, "I'm Judy Hopps and this is my partner, Nick Wilde." Danny eagerly extended his paw, only for Clawhouser, Judy and Nick to shake it. "It's just such a thrill to meet the two ZPD legends who are going to teach me everything they know," said Danny, giddily. "What," asked Nick and Judy simultaneously. "Oh, I forgot to tell you," said Clawhouser, "you two, along with Mike and Scott have been given a special assignment by Bogo. Some new recruits have recently graduated from the academy, and he'd like you four to train them. Danny's one of them."
"Well, Danny," said Judy, "it was a thrill to meet you. I feel sorry for what happened to your dad though. He died trying to save me." "Don't hold it against yourself," said Danny, "before he was a cop, he was a career soldier. It was almost like his destiny that he would go out protecting someone else. That," he continued, "and he had some rather interesting things to say about when you and Officer Wilde busted Bellwether. He said you two, along with some more colorful language." "That sounds like Mack," interjected Nick. Danny continued, "where too good for this city." "Well," said Judy, "we'd love to stay and chat, but we gotta get changed out of these uniforms and get to Blue's. Since Fangmeyer's got better, him and Slick here," she squeezed Nick affectionately, "are playing guitar there tonight. Wanna talk some more there?" "Boy would I," said Danny enthusiastically, "I'll see you all there then," he then cheerfully hopped away. Good kid, thought Judy, his dad would be proud.

Nick stood up on stage, with the exact same guitar he brought last week, next to Wolford and Fangmeyer, who wore a neck brace to prevent further damage in the healing process. "Nice to know you're back in business, Scott," said Nick to Fangmeyer, "just promise us you won't get shot again." "I'll do my best," replied Fangmeyer, "just as you don't cry all over my body again." "Well sorry," said Nick, "Wolfie and thought you were dying." "Hey quick question," asked Fangmeyer aloud, "what happened to the arctic wolf that shot me?" "From what I heard was," said Wolford, who was quickly interrupted by Nick. "Judy did what she had to," said Nick, trying to defend his girlfriend's honor, "he was going to kill her, so she broke his neck first. And I capped off Spotzen, leaving Krueger to rot in prison. Does that answer all your questions, Stripey?" "Yeah," said Fangmeyer hesitantly, "just don't call me Stripey." "Don't call Judy 'cute' and we'll all be even," said Nick. "Deal," said Fangmeyer. then , Nick signaled to Grizzoli on the drums to get ready, as he then turned around and faced his cop buddies.
"Alright ya blue SOB's" said Nick, "we just saved the city again. We now got some fresh meat in the house," he pointed at Danny, who was sitting between Judy and Clawhouser, "and although we lost a good cop this week, I can see him living on through his boy." "Here here," chanted Danny. "Okay," said Nick, "this one's for you, Judy." (End credits song, I Want To Hold Your Hand by The Beatles)
