A Very Morgan Christmas-Ch 12
One week turned into two and it was now Penelopes due date and she was showing no signs of going into labor and even though her doctor told her that everything was okay she still worried. Fran had also told her that the baby will come when he or she is ready and until then all they could do was wait.
The talk she had with Fran helped but Penelope still wanted to baby to come already, she was staying tired all of the time and her feet were swelling. Derek would rub her feet every chance he got, he loved taking care of her, she was the love of his life and he would do anything to keep her safe and happy.
Their was still no signs of labor the next week or the week after and Penelope was getting more and more worried, why wasn't the baby coming, was she doing something wrong, those were all questions that she waited for the answers to.
It was finally time for the family to head to the cabin for Christmas and even though Penelope was over two weeks late she couldn't wait to spend the holidays with her family. The 24th was not only Christmas Eve but her wedding anniversary, she would be married to Derek for 1 year and she couldn't wait.
Fran was worried about them being at the cabin with Penelope overdue, now she was a nurse, a great nurse and had been one since Sarah was a baby. She made sure that she would have everything she might need just in case the baby decided to make his or her arrival while they were at the cabin.
According to the weatherman they were expecting around 14 to 16 inches of snow in the mountains and the thoughts of that both excited and worried Penelope. What would happen if her water broke and she went into labor and then she remembered that she was with Fran who was a nurse and Reid had delivered babies before in the field so she let all worry leave the second she stepped inside the beautiful cabin.
As soon as everybody got their things put away in their rooms Jack and Henry wanted to go outside and play in the snow. Derek joined his wife on the couch as they cuddled. She kissed his lips gently and said, "I love you".
Derek winked at her and said, "I love you too sweetness, can I get you anything"?, she laid her head down on his shoulder and said, "I'm alright handsome, just a little tired, that's all". Derek said, "want me to help you upstairs"?, she shook her head and said, "can I please stay down here"?, he kissed her on the top of the head and said, "of course you can".
Fran walked into the room and said, "everything okay in here"? as she handed them both a cup of cocoa, Derek said, "yeah momma, she's just tired". Fran said, "of course she is, she's over 2 weeks late with her first child" and Derek nodded his head in agreement.
Penelope sighed as she heard Jack and Henry squealing from outside, she then said, "sounds like they're having a good time". Fran said, "it sure does", she then looked at her tired daughter-in-law and said, "what do the two of you think about the tree"?, they turned around and looked at the huge tree standing behind them.
Derek said, "wow, that's even bigger than the one you got last time", Penelope said, "that's gorgeous and when it's fully decorated it will look amazing". Fran said, "today we're all just going to relax and then tomorrow we will start decorating".
Penelope said, "I don't know how much I can do but I definitely want to help", Fran said, "just be careful not to overdo, okay"?, Penelope smiled and said, "okay mom" as she laid her head back down on Dereks shoulder and closed her tired eyes.
