Potter Isle, the Lab, 23rd August, Morning
Hermione let a relaxed smile cross her face as she walked up to Harry's lab. The day before had been slightly fraught and as always her nerves went into hyper drive, but at the end of the day she had sat her NEWTS and she had probably done very well. Harry had really one her proud there and he also had sat everything they had available before bustling them back off to the Island. Though he had made Faith fill in some important looking paperwork before they had left. He had then added several piles of his own at the same time at the office to hand such things in and they had used their necklaces directly from there. He had even given the new woman - Bellatrix, whoever she was, a necklace apologizing for forgetting to give her one beforehand.
She let herself into the coded door, pressing her palm on the biometrics and passing through the various layers of security. She had sent a note off to her parents the night before asking to stay with Harry for the foreseeable and explaining that she had sat her NEWTS and not to pay Hogwarts tuition that year. That would be a relief as her education had been very expensive to keep up. She was now thinking of using the Learning Library quite a bit and perhaps doing some university. She had taken a look at some of the subjects in the Learning Library and was surprised to find such categories as Chemistry and Physics as well as computing in it. Apparently the Flamels just wanted to store a lot of knowledge no matter where it had come from. It would certainly guarantee her, her GCSE's and form there she could go onto something more higher education. Or alternatively she could stay on the island and help Harry push back the boundaries of known magical and mundane science. He didn't require qualifications, he required the knowledge instead.
She walked into the main floor of the Lab; it was the largest space in the building and came to a standstill. Harry was lowering in what looked to be a sheet of etched transparent Trekanium. "Trekanium," she asked.
"NO," Harry said, "This is Potteralium-M and no I didn't mispronounce that." He said flashing a grin at her, "Actually I call it MagiGlass. It has increased magical properties with the density and strengths of Trekanium and of course it's transparent. Because well, I thought it would look cool." He added the last with a shrug and finished lowering the meter square sheet into the likewise etched transparent box. "Only three more," he said mostly to himself, walking over to the desk where an etching machine was whirring away, silently luckily, she couldn't help but think that would be noisy usually. "I had to make this special." Harry said conversationally, "Fab'd it early this morning."
"Did you sleep last night?" she asked tapping her foot in annoyance.
Harry looked at her guiltily, "The ship is so close now," he said seriously, "I can't let it flag now. Besides that Energy drink is better than pepper up potion for us magicals and liquid tonnes of Coffee helps."
"Uh huh, so what are you building?"
"A bit of a flyer, at the very least I'll have a super powerful mainframe for the ship." He said picking up the sheet with gloves on and walking over to the assembly, "At best a theory I have will pan out and we'll have something rather special."
"What special," she asked.
"Hang on a tick," Harry said concentrating and sliding in the new panel as the next was etched. "There, well did Lav tell you about my theory?"
"She might have mentioned it; she said you believe Magic is sort of alive, her words."
"That's basically it, yeah. Once this puppy is active we'll see if I'm right won't we?" Harry said walking over and collected the next and placing in a blank sheet. He slipped it into place with extreme concentration as he was running out of room. Then he did the final piece and let out a breath, "Right, interface next." He said, then pulled out his tablet and the entire just over a meter square box disappeared. 2Come on," he said leading her towards the entrance to the Ship Bay.
Hermione followed him and let out a gasp, "That's looking done!"
"Everything basic is in place," Harry said, "It could act as a ship now, it's a case of safety and some improvements now an she'll be ship shape and ready for a test."
"When," she asked with excitement.
"If this works," Harry said, "I've got to install the Mass Energy system, fabricator plant and a few other things...so tomorrow if I work all night."
"You work so fast," Hermione said with a shake of her head.
"I've had a time dilation bubble up around the lab all night," Harry said without thinking.
"Harry Potter! When is the last time you slept then?" she asked tapping her foot again and looking very put out.
"Urm... I dunno to be honest." Harry said rubbing his eyes.
"Sleep, you need sleep."
"I have trouble sleeping; the ideas bunch up in my head and wake me up" Harry said, "If they let me sleep in the first place. Only time I get a break is... during things."
"What things... Oh..." Hermione said trailing off.
"Yeah, and even I can't do that all the time just to go to sleep." Harry said, "It's a slight curse, but look at the good I can do despite that fact?"
"I suppose, but don't run yourself into the ground, take a sleeping potion I'm sure I can knock you some up."
"Might try that," Harry said, like he hadn't already.
"I'll make you some, you have ingredients?"
"Check the Storage System," Harry said smiling, "I put everything in there. I'm going to make a system dump for the ship. Then start building up stock again."
"I'll do that in a minute, now; show me what you're up to."
"Well I didn't want to boot her up outside the ship only to have to shut her down again, just in case we get an ME, it wouldn't be fair to it."
Hermione smiled softly, "Quite right."
"So the MagiQuam is in position now, the interface should have connected as it appeared in place. I have terminals all over the ship and everything is ready for it. AT the very least it's a Quantum Computer."
"Impressive, I don't believe anyone has quite gotten to that stage yet."
"I cheat," Harry said, "Magic has no problem with being fuzzy; yes no, meh, you know."
"I believe that's not quite the way it works, but then you built the bloody thing so what do I know."
"Lots," Harry said with a warm smile. He led her up to the entrance of the ship and then to the engineering deck. She was looking around with wide eyes the entire time. "It's actually rather beautiful inside. The crystalline displays, the optic cables..."
"Those are shielded Diamond Filament fibre optic cables, amazing transfer rate. I read about them and then made some filament with an alchemy solution and programmed that into the Fabricator. Everything needed to affect repairs is already in my outside Fab."
"Wow, but it's oddly beautiful, it seems more grown than designed in layout and appearance."
"That's because I used a fractural design algorithm" Harry said with a smile. "I have no sense of aesthetics, so I let the computer do it. The run took 16 hours, but we go there in the end. Of course the MagiQuam will be able to do that significantly faster. Oh by the by, I twigged the Fractural storage core took me about a month of dilation to do it though."
Hermione looked highly impressed and again, slightly turned on. "We've got virtually infinite storage now," Harry said ignoring, or not seeing, her look.
"Harry you continually amaze me," Hermione said taking a deep breath and blushing slightly.
"Ah here it is," Harry said.
Hermione shaded her eyes slightly, "That's so bright!"
"I know, but isn't it beautiful," Harry said, "I had a feeling it would be thus why the MagiGlass is... well...clear."
"Is it on?"
"Not yet," Harry said and walked over to the main terminal which was in the centre of the expanded circular room. There was a lot of storage there, including a number of fractural drives. Some would be for the Storage system and some were for navigation and other sensor data. It was a BIG room and the racks of storage seemed to go on forever. Harry brought the system online and there was an intense feeling of magical and electrical power building in the air.
"Wow," Hermione said rubbing the back of her neck.
"I know right, better than my projections," Harry said eyeing the boot up process which took mere moments and then an iteration of Linux was shown that was utterly stable and backed up to the hilt.
Then a wide smile split Harry's face as an image wavered into sight on the screen at first and then in the middle of the clearing around them. He turned to face it and grinned, "I got one!" he said like a loon.
"Home, welcome, there, is, here, where," a melodic female voice said.
"Wait a sec," Harry said turning back and opening up the internet to the MagiQuam, there was a pause and then.
"Welcome Harry, where am I? What am I?"
"You are the heart of my ship the DogStar," Harry said with a grin, "I'm very please to make your acquaintance," he said
"Thank you...father." it said slowly, it was definitely female, but not young sounding despite the fact it had just been 'born'. "What are my duties?"
"To protect and serve the crew, to provide a user friendly interface to the ships systems and to live and explore with us." Harry said immediately. "In return we'll treat you as part of the crew, love and cherish you and protect you to the best of our abilities. I've made your body as tough as I can make it, but if anything occurs to me I'll add it later."
"I feel...powerful and young, and strong," it said.
"You are," Harry said smugly, "I don't do things by half, me"
"He's not lying," Hermione said ironically.
"And you are young miss?"
"Hermione Granger, crew" Hermione said making her decision there and then. He had brought intelligent being into the world, virtually breathing life into the ship. He was from this moment on, her new god, being a part of his crew was her ultimate aim now.
Harry smiled at her and looked to the ME he had essentially created, "I want you to get to know your new body urh... she needs a name." Harry trailed off confused, "I'm told I am useless at names."
"You are my father," the entity said, "So am I not Daughter."
"Fine by me," Harry said case closed as far as he was concerned.
"That's really more of a description than a name," Hermione ventured, "How about an actual name."
"I will search, searching... I like Finn, it is Gaelic meaning fair." Finn said, "But I want Father to call me Daughter."
"Okay Finn," Hermione said, "I quite like it and it's easy to remember and quick to say too."
"Okay Daughter," Harry said, "It feels a little weird to say that actually, are you sure I can't call you Finn?"
"I would prefer Daughter - father." She said sounding mildly annoyed.
"Fair enough, just asking, now get to know yourself okay..." Harry paused with a grin on his face.
"What are you waiting for...?" Hermione began but Finn cut her off
"Very well father, I have acquainted myself with my systems."
"That was bloody fast," Hermione said.
"I am impressed by my size to power ratio. I have a variety of weapons, are we going into war Father?"
"For a short time I hope, but the weapons are for protection. They are to be under the control of the crew, but you have some control over them as well. All Statuses are yours to view as well; it'll be up to you to bring anything to my attention that requires it."
"Of course Father," she replied sounding happy, "I feel so free."
"Well the last thing I have to install is the Gate Drive," Harry said, "So right now you're stuck here or the moment, but I'll be working on you continually from this point on until you're finished."
"I trust you father, you are my all." Finn said
"Okay..." Harry said unsure how to respond to that.
"Another female that thinks you're marvellous." Hermione said tongue in cheek.
"Do you then," Harry shot back at her.
"Oh yes, I have since you jumped on a Troll's back to save my misbegotten life" Hermione said with total honesty in her every nuance of expression. "I'm not a screaming fan girl, you know this, but you are most certainly my Knight in Shining Armour."
Harry blushed vividly, "Wow, that means so much to me - thank you Hermione," he said leaning forward and kissing her cheek tenderly making her blush wildly.
There was a distinctive female chuckle, "Father is such a manly man; he is wooing the women."
"Cut it you," Harry said laughing at her joking tone. "Another woman that loves to tease me is more like."
Hermione laughed, "You have to introduce her to Irena of course."
"Of course, but when she's finished. Talking of which, I need a full system's Diagnostic," he ordered in a clipped tone.
Finn immediately brought up a display, her 'form' was vaguely feminine, with no distinguishing features and she held up her hands and the display appeared floating above them. Harry walked closer and read the scrolling display as quickly as it scrolled. "Right missing an engine but we're doing alright. Next thing is the Fabricator and storage dump into this system, connect to the main system and begin the copy." He said, "I'll go build the Gate drive"
"Very well Father," Finn replied and did as he asked, "That is a great deal of materials, it will take an hour."
Harry pulled out his tablet, "Time to leave Hermione, I promise to sleep when I'm done."
"Very well, I can't wait to see her done," Hermione said with a smile, "But make sure you at least take a break sometimes."
"I will make sure of it...Hermione," Finn said.
"Yes please call me Hermione," Hermione said with a grin, "I'll be back when?"
"I'll bring us back in line tomorrow morning," Harry said.
"Then I'll be waiting at the door and I'll call Irena as well" She said, "Bye Finn!"
"Goodbye Hermione," Finn replied.
Potter Isle, the Lab, 24th August - MorningHermione had Irena by the hand as she and the rest of Harry's 'crew' arrived at the door to the lab. There was still a bubble over it, slightly translucent and that told them Harry was still in Time Dilation. Then suddenly it disappeared and Hermione let out a sound of glee.
"Ready" she asked in excitement.
"Dear, do calm down," Irena said with amusement.
"I dunno, I'm kinda excited myself to be honest," Faith said.
Bellatrix looked around with a bored air, "What the hell IS a space ship anyway?"
"It goes into space," Lavender said like it should be obvious, it was to her even so she couldn't understand why Bella didn't get it.
"Why though, other than looking at bright lights - what's the point," Bellatrix asked.
"Pureblood," Hermione said with a sigh, "Not to be rude, but the Wizarding world has no clue what's up there compared to their Muggle counterparts."
"So planets, stars, basically lump of rock and what else," Bellatrix asked.
"So very much," Hermione said, "Space is far from the empty void The Wizarding world paints it as, which is strange considering how much Astronomy is taught. But it's a wholly version of something much richer in the Muggle world. Muggles have sent things to Mars, and been and set foot on the moon!"
Bellatrix looked totally startled by that revelation. "You're kidding" she blurted.
"I'm really not, wait until you see it" Hermione said, "That's why I am so keen." She said keying in her code into the Lab's computer and then palming the biometrics. The door clicked open when she was half way through the process and she dragged Irena by the hand through the open door with the rest coming up behind. She led them directly to the entrance to the Ships Bay. They walked in to find Harry standing there waiting for them the other side of the entrance. He looked worn and a little thin and that worried them all.
"Before you say it I forgot something rather important," Harry said, "I locked myself in here with no real food. I managed to get by using the fabricator to make basic nutrients but it's not a mistake I'll make again in a hurry."
"How long where you 'gone'" Irena asked checking him over with worry in her eyes, he had bags under his eyes and looked dead on his feet.
"Couple of months, I kept finding little bugs, with Finn's help of course. She's kept me sane." He said with a smile, "We've bonded and I finally got permission to call her Finn by pointing out that father's call their daughters by name."
Hermione chuckled but wasn't finished clucking over him as was Irena.
"Looks like I need to include protecting you from yourself as well, huh, boss," Faith said with a smirk. Rolling her eyes as she took him in, he looked like crap, and his normally luminous green eyes were dimmed somewhat. This was a real shame because she was rather fond of his eyes.
"Yeah-yeah," Harry said with a dry smile, "I know bad Harry!"
"Very bad Harry, how are you supposed to keep me sexed up if you can barely stand," Irena said mockingly.
"Good point," Harry said looking worried, "I'll be 100% soon; I'll put the entire island under dilation and sleep for a week, okay?"
"Sounds good and I could do with some time on the beach," Irena said, "Join me ladies?" she asked looking at Bella as well, "But first you and me," she said to the gothically attired woman, "Go shopping, I know a few stores that would suit you well.
Bella looked at her steadily for a long moment before smiling slightly, "I'd like that I think, thank you."
Harry looked meaningfully at Faith who nodded at him, "I'd like to go to that as well," she said, "Fancy some goth gear to go with this outfit."
Irena frowned, "Oaky, but I think you look better that way if you ask me."
"Well I can also pick up some decent corsets and Basques, as well as fishnets," Faith said with a sexy smile and a look in her eye that could not be good news unless you were the recipient of her plans.
"Okay then," Irena said with a more accepting smile, "But Bella first okay?"
"Of course, I don't mind just wandering as you shop," Faith said, "As long as the Boss promises to stay here that day."
"Promise, faithfully," he said with a smirk.
"Funny guy," Faith said dryly.
"Come on!" Hermione said exasperated, "I want to see!"
Harry smirked, "Do you think we've made her wait long enough now?"
"Maybe a few minutes more," Irena said with a grin.
Hermione stomped off towards the end of the gang plank that now led to the airlock. They all followed exchanging grins.
Harry over took Hermione before she reached the door, "I've had to make some major changes along the way. The outer hull has changed slightly and inside it's not quite as you remember it. I reconfigured the entire thing actually, had to make a process to do it without starting from scratch. Finn pointed out that it would take us too long to get around, so I added some elevators, instead of the ladders I had and some special portals that lead from place to place. There is its own nexus near the middle of the ship that leads to all the other main parts of the vessel."
"Okay, show me," Hermione pleaded.
"Come on then, nearest portal is just inside." Harry said unlocking the airlock with a hiss and a palm press on the biometric lock. "I also added internal security just in case we're invaded. I also forgot shielding because I was relying on my armour, Finn pointed out that was a bad idea. The shield can take the Mark X Phasers without losing integrity. I also finally managed to come up with a magical aspect that will bounce an AK"
"Impressive," Irena said, "You have been busy."
"Very busy, this project has been my main priority for the several months I've been in here."
"Did you sleep at all?" Irena asked caringly.
"A Little, but I had a lot of ideas and ended up only getting a couple of hours a night. But I did come up with a new potion that will literally knock me out for a week." Harry said with a grin, "Well that depends on dose, and it's possible to rouse me but it's timed usually and will knock me out for a set amount of time. I'm fed up with being tired all the time. Luckily a plant I found in one of my dimensions has the properties I need."
"You could sell that to insomniacs," Faith said, "I have trouble sleeping as well, for other reasons."
"See me later," Harry said, "I'll send some your way, or call it up from the Fab."
"Right you are boss," Faith said with a grin.
"Anyway, here we are, step though ladies."
They did, one by one and entered a large arched area that was cathedral like in architecture but rounded with a lot of portals with signs over each. "It takes seconds to get to the right place here. I have a gadget for each of you that will bring you directly to this nexus." He said tapping his wrist where a watch like device was, "This also doubles as communications - thank you Lav, and life sign reader. If there is something wrong with your life signs Finn will pull you back to the Sick bay instantly. Oh I came up with a 'transporter' system as well. It works on the same sort of principles as the old gate network that connects the Borderlands, but it's actually instant now."
"Can you aim it anywhere?" Hermione asked looking around with a sense of wonder. Harry didn't just make amazing things; he designed impressive structures to put them in, usually with a sense of grand scale as well. He made the best use of the space he created at all times.
"Yes, for instance we can aim it to a planet's surface. Another thing I worked on was reliable sensors, really fine detailed ones as well. I can study the atomic structure of something halfway across the galaxy."
"What about food, water and that stuff," Lavender asked, "And where do I sign up."
"You already are Lav, I'm going to need an officer that does the job you do for me now and communications, I'm in the process of programming a language decoder, live at that, like a universal translator," he said with a glance at Hermione. "But I have a course of languages for you to study - if you're game."
"Am I ever," Lavender said, "Wee look at me now mum and dad!"
Irena smiled, "I knew he would do right by you!"
"I now and look at me now" Lavender said happily. "Doing things I can't imagine getting to do otherwise I'm so happy I could sing."
"Please don't," Hermione said dryly, "I've heard you sing in the shower."
Lav pouted massively and then laughed.
"I have that sorted. There are showers here, water is a simple conjuration, and adding a temperature wasn't too hard. So you can wash, and waste water disappears and the dirt is filtered through the recycling system. It's basically the same system as I came up with for all that dirt and stone I had. In other words it's made into something useful - not foods so no need to worry. I can't quite get a way to make food, so before we go anywhere interesting we'll be putting some into the storage system., Essentially it's in stasis there and will never go off. I'm intending a cull of my farms, but I will leave some for breeding. There are actually some cattle in the Hydroponics that we'll husband just in case of trouble. Finn looks after them with automated features."
"This is impressive but do you have an observation deck?" Irena asked.
"Over here," Harry said walking off towards a particularly portal, they were oval, showed where you were going and didn't as much as flicker when he walked through. They quickly followed finding they could all get through within mere moments of each other, it was a fast system but could get snarled up if someone stopped the other side.
If the nexus was impressive this room was far more so. It was basically all transparent Trekanium, totally open except the floor. A huge projected screen showed the solar system in minute detail and there were lots of chairs and terminals around. There was also an empty wet bar. When in space it would be seriously impressive but as it was it showed the Ship yard which wasn't very interesting to look at.
"This is going to be my favourite place I think," Hermione said wistfully, "Grabbing a good book and reading under the stars, while drinking a nice beverage."
"Which we'll stock up on before we leave," Harry said with a smile. "I would like you all to make a list of the things you want for yourselves and then I'll go out and get it all. No expense is spared for this, none at all. I'm hoping you'll agree to come at least the first time 'Rena"
Irena smiled, "My second in command needs some practice, and knowing you; we have instant communications?"
"We do," Harry said, "Piped through the island, there is a massive array of receivers under the lab, and I knocked them out fairly fast once I figured out how to use Hyperspace to transmit signals."
"Hyperspace," Hermione asked.
"It's what we travel through to while using the wormhole drive. It's also fairly busy. I don't think I'm the first to discover it. Which means...aliens..." he said with a massive smile, "Also while scanning I found something else interesting as well" he said with a grin, "It was a gate network not too dissimilar to mine. But it goes from planet to planet."
"Can you use it? Hack in as it were," Hermione asked.
"I already built an interface to the Gate Drive, but we have to shrink to use it. It can't handle anything as big as we are without the shrinking ability."
"That still works, even after you made the ship bigger, because this is far bigger than I thought it would be." Irena said.
"Oh no it was always designed to be this big, you just didn't see the completed article" Harry explained, "I had most of the shell done, but only most."
"Less than half" she exclaimed.
"Well, I knew what I meant," Harry said with an unrepentant grin. "Anyway, the other gate system is based in a constellation address, I've got Finn cracking the code now, it's not taking her long we already have several viable addresses, I can't wait to find out what's out there!" he said his eyes lighting up with excitement.
"I think we're all excited," Faith said looking around.
"This is for me too," Bella asked looking around with a sense of wonder. The things this young man achieved left anything Voldemort had done in the dust.
"You're welcome to come along; I have a possible position for you in navigation. You're a whizz at Arithmancy so I'll teach you the rest of the math, I've already got the knowledge I just need to make the relevant pensieve learning memory."
"Who will actually fly the ship," Hermione asked.
"Me of course," Harry said, "I love flying, and this will just be an extension of that."
"Aren't you the captain though," she pressed.
"Yeah... what's wrong?"
"Nothing it's just unusual for the captain to pilot, fly or whatever they are commanding."
"I don't care; I wouldn't let anyone else do this. Finn is capable of piloting herself of course. I want you to be my research officer," he said looking at Hermione.
"I'd love to; can I get some extra training in the Muggle sciences?"
"Already got the relevant ones planned out," Harry said, "Enough to give you an excellent grounding and it'll mean you can help with the invention as well."
"That'd be amazing," Hermione enthused.
"Now I've got some positions open, I need a political/diplomatic officer for first contacts."
"Have you dissolved the marriage yet," Bellatrix asked apparently out of the blue.
"No, I was going to do that after my nap - I haven't forgotten about it but this took my attention for a while. I need this for my plans to go ahead." Harry replied apologetically.
"Dissolve it soon, then bring Cissy here and let me talk to her," Bella said, "She'll be perfect for that role. She acts like a total snob, but she's surprisingly opened minded. I always used to look down on that, now I realise what a mistake I'd made. Look at what you have here, supposing it works! You have space and exploration of uncharted territories that you'll be able to lay claim to. You have entire domains under your control, massive resources and a mind - what a mind! I was so very wrong."
Harry smiled, "Welcome to the light side - we ACTUALLY have cookies."
Everyone except Bella laughed, "I don't get it."
"Never mind, remind me to show you later," Harry said, "Suffice to say it's a popular Muggle thing, I might get a T-shirt with that on."
"You're all insane. I think I like it though" Bella said surprising a laugh out of Faith and Harry in particular.
"Right so I'll pencil her in. Faith is weapons and security. But I need more pilots."
"Pilots, but you're doing that aren't you?" Hermione asked.
"I am piloting the ship, the DogStar, but someone needs to occasionally pilot Black One through Ten"
"And what pray tell are those," Irena asked though she had a horrible feeling she knew.
"I was in here six months in the end, I'll put my hands up to that," Harry said, "I did say several, and you just assumed I mean three. First three months I really was debugging the systems and integrating the new stuff I put in like the sensors and the Gate Drive changes, and the last three was for the reason I have a hanger bay. In other words I'm talking about ten small fighter class ships."
"I should have known," Irena said with a sigh, "I should have known the first moment you ignore my 'invite' to work on your experiments, that you'd be trouble." She sighed, "But Oh no I had to push and then find I liked you anyway."
"My obsessive side has its benefits," Harry said with a sexy smile and a wink at her.
Irena let out a small sultry grin, "True."
Faith laughed throatily, "Might have to try that for myself."
"I won't mind," Irena said.
"Do I get a say?" Harry complained.
Faith cupped her breasts and puckered a kiss, "You gunna refuse this?"
Harry smirked, "No I suppose I'm not stupid."
"There ya go then," Faith said triumphantly
Hermione just rolled her eyes, while Lavender looked speculative. "Bags first woman to have sex in space, I nominate Harry!" Lavender shouted quickly.
"Damn," Irena said, "I was just thinking that myself - oh well you bagsed it."
Harry looked at Lavender it total shock. She smirked at him and looked triumphant and smug.
"Moving on," Hermione said with a small sigh, "Let's go and look at the bridge shall we?"
"Easily done," Harry said, "Gather round," he said and they did. He pulled out his tablet, "I have a copy of this, slightly less complicate one at least, for you all, think Tricorder," he said and tapped a button. They disappeared with a bright flash of golden light and appeared on the bridge.
"Congratulations, you've just been rendered down at a quantum level sent thought the ships computer to a filter and a buffer and then reconstructed here" Harry said with a smirk, "Didn't feel a thing did ya?"
"Oh god, the idea is horrible," Lavender said, "But I didn't feel a thing."
"Are we copies," Hermione asked in worry.
"No, this is the same quantum form as you had before, right down to your magical core Hermione. They were sent instantly here through the Like principle and here you are. It's a wee bit more complex than that but if you want to know more the tech specs are on Finn."
"Alright," Hermione said shakily.
Then they looked around, it was positively royal looking, not ornate but stately all the same with a large almost throne like chair that dominated the bridge. "Finn insisted I put that there, but I won't be sitting in it except for formal functions," Harry said, "My place is down here" he said and walked down to a lowered area in front of the huge window that totally spread from one side of the bride to the other. As he sat down a big projected looking view screen came to life, rather looking like the one on the observation deck and the panels arrayed around his seat came to life showing various readings and plotting data. "Faith your place is to the right of me, Hermione you're behind the captains chair, Diplomatic is over on the right hand wall, Bella Navigation is to my left, and Lav you'll be sat beside the captain's chair."
Everyone sat in their chairs and looked around as everything came to life. Finn's simple feminine avatar appeared standing before the window and the viewer, "Welcome aboard the DogStar my friends," she said her melodic female tones drifting across them pleasantly, "What are your orders; captain?"
"Spin up the Gate drive." Harry said firmly.
"Gate drive; aye," Finn replied, "At your command," she finished.
"I'll do the honours if you don't mind," Harry said.
"We can't go anywhere," Hermione said, "We've got no supplies or anything."
"Correction we have plenty of supplies, we just don't have food," Finn said, "Silly Hermione." She added warmly.
"Just up into space and back down again," Harry said
"But people will see us, we're huge." Lavender pointed out.
"Not that big for space, but don't worry - Finn engage cloaking device."
"Cloaking device aye," Finn said with a smile in her tone.
"We're invisible," Hermione asked.
"To sensors and the naked eye (Magically)," Harry said, "Gate dive engaging in five, four, three, two, one, engage."
The entire bridge seemed to flash that same golden colour it had when they transported and suddenly they were looking out at the grand vista of space dominated with a view of the globe that they called Earth.
"Oh My God," Lavender breathed totally in awe.
"That's us," Bellatrix said stunned.
"It's beautiful," Faith breathed.
"I'm really here, I'm really in space - oh thank you Harry," Hermione said sounding highly emotional.
"Get us ready Harry," Irena said her tone thick with emotion, "Get us ready soon, end it with Voldemort so we can go out there and see it all," she said, "Can you turn us - so we can see what's coming?"
Harry's fingers danced over his panels and the ship turned on a dime, spinning in place to point out into deep space. It was so clear, so beautiful and vast and terrifying and wonderful it took their breaths away totally and there was utter silence.
"That's our goal," Irena said, "That's what Harry has given us," she added, "We owe him for that."
"You owe me nothing," Harry said his voice firm, "But if you want to give me something, be my loyal crew and come with me."
"Gladly," they all said at the same time. In eerily chorus with each other, even Bellatrix was caught up in the moment. This was so much more than Voldemort had ever promise her, had ever shown her and she hadn't been with Harry that long, but she was now devoted to him as were they all.
"You have to show Cissy this, then she'll understand," Bella said seriously, "Anyone you want to recruit, show them this and they'll be with you in a heartbeat."
"Take us back Harry, we have a taste now," Irena said her tone serious, "Now we work to get ready and you finish your battle with the Bastard then we go out there and explore the wonders and the terrors both."
They flashed back into the ships dock in a golden wave of light, "Finn all systems power down," Harry said his tone lower than normal. They all felt total awe at what they had seen and no one moved for a long time.
